“Stuck In The Middle.”
« on: January 30, 2023, 08:20:28 PM »
Krystal’s 2023 didn’t get off to a great start as she was one of the many who came up short in the Open Invitational Rumble and just to rub salt in the wound the other Crystal (Caldwell) won the match rather than her friend Ariana! But things seemed to be on the up and up for Krystal’s friends as on the first Climax Control of the year Jessie earned a title shot against the other Crystal and Ariana was made the #1 Contender for the Bombshell Internet Title, who she would be challenging was going to be decided this week as Kayla Richards was defending the Bombshell Internet Title against Melissa but where did that leave the Aussie?

In a weird state of limbo it seemed because whilst Krystal had put her name forward for this year’s Blast from the Past Tournament she didn’t have much going on otherwise! This week’s Climax Control offered a chance for Krystal to change that however as she was taking on Roxi Johnson in singles competition! Roxi had been on the receiving end of one of the biggest shocks of the year so far when the British rookie Bombshell Georgie Robertson scored an upset win over the Hall of Famer at Inception VI, can Krystal follow in Georgia’s footsteps?

Cassie’s home, Las Vegas, Nevada
Saturday the 21st of January 2023, 16:00pm

This year is officially off to a worse start than last year.

In case you’ve been living under a rock for whatever reason, I didn’t kick off the year with a new Roulette Title Reign like I had hoped, in fact if you asked certain people then they’d say that the wrong Crystal won but then again a bet the majority of the women in the scramble match think that they should’ve walked out of Inception VI the champion.

Least of all was the now former Bombshell Roulette Champion Ari, she hadn’t spoken much about the end of her title reign aside from changing her Twitter profile name and pic to reflect the fact that she was no longer a champion but I knew from talking too her that she was frustrated with how the reign ended to begin with.

Speaking off frustrations stemming from title losses, that’s essentially why I’m stopping by Cassie’s home today.

If you don’t know about Cassie’s situation in MPW then I hope it’s comfy under that rock you’ve been living under! But to summarise, Cassie had encountered her first major hurdle as a wrestler, namely being screwed out of her first ever singles title by outside interference and to say that Cassie wasn’t taking it well was putting it mildly, to the point where I not only signed a guest contract with MPW to try to keep Cassie from going over to the darkside but had started to travel to England with her.

Off course, it had to come to ahead at some point, and that point happened to be when she was being disciplined by Keira for, well, everything, and Cassie got the idea to not only backtalk Keira but insult Roxi and yes, if this had happened on SCW programming then it would be a prime candidate for “WTF/Holy Shit Moment of the Year”! To make a long story short, the disciplinary fight was called off after Keira not only busted Cassie’s lip and cracked one of her ribs.

As questionable as that decision was, I did feel sorry for my younger cousin because I was in her shoes around this time last year and thus, I was stopping by Cassie’s home to check in on her, and yes, I checked her girlfriends’ places she isn’t with Becky or Zoey!

Then again, considering the first thing I heard upon approaching the front door was arguing between Cassie and her mom Ruth? I was beginning to suspect that Cassie would’ve much preferred that!

“CASSANDRA MARIE RICHARDSON, I THOUGHT I HAD RAISED YOU BETTER THAN THAT!” I winced as I approached the front door and got ready to knock, it was never a good sign when a mother was not only referring to their son/daughter by their full first name but their full name in general and based on what I heard? I had turned up just in time for it to start. “BUT TO TRY TO CLAIM THAT YOU WOULD’VE BEEN JUSTIFIED IN RUINING THAT GIRL’S TITLE OPPORTUNITY?!”

Yep, that explained it! I could hear the sounds normally associated with an excited puppy on the other side of the door so Sandie clearly knew that I was here, whether Cassie of Ruth had noticed was anyone’s guess. ”Mom, you weren’t there and you’re not a wrestler, how can you claim to know what I’m going through exactly?!” Cassie countered and I glanced towards the driveway noticing that only Ruth’s car was in the driveway, which probably meant that Cassie’s dad was at work and thus not around to play referee. ”What was I supposed to do? Just sit back and let the wrestling world run over me?”

Cassie was many things, a prodigy, a tech genius, a stoner, a porn addict, but more importantly she was a short-tempered teenager! Without hesitation I knocked on the door bringing their argument to a screeching halt. “Wonderful, that’s probably our neighbour checking up on us!” Ruth added before she answered the door but her tone did lighten up a bit when she saw me. “Oh Krystal, I thought you were training for the next cycle today.”

”That can wait, I’m here to check in on our favourite troublemaker.” I responded as I shook my head and Ruth quickly nodded as she got the idea, at this point Cassie glanced over and grinned when she saw me whilst Sandie reacted to my presence like a typical Labrador Puppy. ”I wasn’t expecting to hold peace talks however.”

”Mom started it!” Cassie quickly asserted and I shook my head because of course Cassie would say that! ”I was ranting over the phone to Becky when she overheard and snatched the phone from my hands!”

“Only to stop you from going down a dark path!” Ruth countered and I had to shake my head, Cassie’s mom could be overbearing, in fact her Australian nationality was probably the only thing keeping her from being the classic idea of a “soccer mom” which wasn’t exactly helped by the fact that Cassie played soccer in high school, but it was clear that she meant well for her daughter. “If you want to talk to her Krystal go ahead, I need a break from this.”

”Can I at least have my phone back?” Cassie piped up and once hr mom handed Cass her phone back she walked off, I glanced down at Cass with a disapproving look on my face and Cassie sighed. ”She took that conversation totally out of context! All it she heard was me telling Becky that I was frustrated that management still wasn’t doing anything and that I should’ve been allowed to go through with my plans!”

”Yeah because THAT makes it all better.” I responded as I rolled my eyes before Sandie walked up to me and started sniffing at my feet. ”We went through this the other week and Keira’s already given you a lashing for, well, everything you’ve said since losing the TV Title! Both literally and figuratively!” I added before I knelt down to stroke Sandie who wagged her tail in response. ”And those comments about Roxi that really set off Keira!”

”Ugh, don’t remind me, the stitches in my lip are coming out next week and my ribs still hurt!” Cassie grunted in annoyance as she motioned to her stitched up lip. ”For fuck’s sake! I haven’t been able to kiss Becky or Zoey since that incident happened! Besides, I know you’ve wanted a rematch with Roxi since she lost to Georgie at Inception VI!”

”As true as that might have been, don’t make this all about my relationship with Team Hero! We’re only a couple of weeks away from the one-year anniversary of Team Hero basically saving me from Matthew and Marty but that’s not what we’re here to discuss.” I added as I stood up and folded my arms. ”You’re the first graduate from Hero Academy, you work for several promotions and not just MPW, you have responsibilities these days because every time you tweet or cut a promo your representing Hero Academy and those promotions!”

”Yeah! Keira told me as much when I was getting frustrated at her for having me run laps whenever I tried to make a joke on Twitter!” Cassie responded with a sigh before she glanced over at her bad leg. ”But what about Chelsea Skye? She’s a World Heavyweight Champion, a porn star, and a Death Metal musician and no one gives her crap for it.”

”One: Chelsea has been wrestling for three years now, two: she’s a graduate of the Go Gym, that’s not exactly a school being starved of graduates to be proud off, for fuck’s sake I’m one of them!” I pointed out and Cassie let out a deep breath as she realized that I had a point. ”And third: she started those side projects well after she established herself as a wrestler, you were posting that goofy shit from day one more or less!”

”Okay, I get it!” Cassie sighed before her puppy walked up to her and she picked Sandie up, wouldn’t be that long before Sandie got too big for Cassie to do that even if she was a power-based wrestler like me. ”But what the hell am I supposed to do whilst MPW management drag their heals?”

”Be better.” I responded simply and Cassie said nothing in response, before long he topic shifted to other areas like the first Climax Control card of the year being announced tomorrow.

Off course, I had no idea at the time that the first Climax Control of the year was going to have such a huge impact on my friends, or that Cassie’s comments about me wanting a rematch with Roxi would end up being prophetic.

Driving through Irvine, California
Sunday the 29th of January 2022, 21:00pm

Well, tonight’s show was certainly something.

With the exception of Cindy Hasly (who, frankly, I would be surprised if she made it through to the end of the cycle while remaining employed with SCW) the new talent in both divisions impressed and certainly gave me hope for some fresh competition in the coming months.

After all, there’s only so many times I can kick Mercedes Vargas’s ass!

But that wasn’t all that happened tonight, Jessie won the #1 Contenders Match against Eavan meaning that the woman who won the Open Invitational New Year’s Bash was going to defend her newly won title against someone who said that she wasn’t going to take part because she already had a match booked for the show! Meanwhile Ariana was basically gift wrapped a shot at the Bombshell Internet Title after somehow getting into Christian’s office when he was getting a drink.

I’m happy for my friends, don’t get me wrong, but I am wondering where that leaves me in the equation.

As I said before, I’m signed up to compete in this year’s iteration of the Blast from the Past Tournament but aside from the bosses no one seemed sure of when the tournament was starting, especially since they broke the tradition of announcing the tournament during the lead up to Inception VI followed quickly by the announcement of the teams meant that there was just a lot of uncertainty in the air surrounding the tournament.

Who knows? Maybe this rematch with Roxi will give me the answers I need?

”Cassie, I know you won’t be able to gamble in Vegas until next July.” I commented to my cousin as we drove through Irvine on route to the hotel and Cassie glanced up at me. ”But remind me to ask you for the State Lottery Numbers when we get back to Vegas.”

”Why? Because I brought up your desire for a rematch with Roxi last week?” Cassie asked and I nodded to confirm it. ”If I were that good at predicting the future, I’d still be the MPW TV Champion! Among other things! That was just a coincidence!”

”Fair point, but it’s still one hell of a coincidence.” I responded with a nod as we came to some red traffic lights and I slowed the rental car down to a stop. ”Especially after Jessie and Ariana got their title shots next week! I know Roxi is looking to bounce back from the upset loss to Georgie, I can’t help but feel like this could be a sink or swim moment.”

”To see if you have recovered from how bad 2022 was?” Cassie asked and I nodded in response. ”Are you sure there’s no options to play music in the car?”

”I checked, this is an older model so I can’t pair my iPhone too it and the pre-sets are set to your standard pop radio stations, rental company was really strict about not changing the pre-sets!” I responded as I shook my head and Cassie rolled her eyes before the lights turned green and we were off again. ”Yeah, I know, I’m regretting not driving up in the Quash Quai as well! As for your initial question, it’s still a mystery to me! The card preview said that this was a match where two women sought to cement their place in the Bombshell Division but even after that loss to Georgie Roxi’s been a top level talent for as long as I’ve been an SCW fan, but where does that leave me? Win or lose?”

”I think we both know what the answer is.” Cassie responded as I spotted the hotel closing in. ”And that’s too see you can make it two upsets in a row, you may have the records for longest Roulette Title reign and most defences in the Bombshell Division but you’ve yet to hold a title since them.”

”And trust me, I plan on changing that in the year ahead!” I responded with a nod before sighing. ”Even if I have to go up against my friends again to do it!”

”Jessie and Ariana?” Cassie asked and I nodded to confirm that I was talking about them. ”You know that they have to win the titles first right? Jessie’s record against the other Crystal is spotty at best and Ariana faces a tough rematch no matter who wins the Bombshell Internet Title Match next week.”

”Yeah, Kayla’s been dominant since she won the title back from Keira and Melissa will be looking to capitalize on her momentum from winning the Iron Woman match against Jessie.” I nodded in response before we closed in on the hotel. ”But Ariana’s been on a tear since she won the Bombshell Roulette Title and Jessie’s been trying to get a title reign going for the past three years, I’ll be dealing with two very determined women either way.”

”Three, actually.” Cassie corrected me as I pulled into the parking lot. ”Or do I need to point out how persistent you’ve been since losing the Bombshell Roulette Title last year?” I said nothing in response but the look I gave Cassie told her that I knew she was right, off course now I just needed to win the match and get the new year off to a proper start.

Easier said than done when up against someone like Roxi!

Go Gym, Las Vegas, Nevada
Monday the 31st of January 2023,  1:00pm

I’ll admit, since the new year kicked off I haven’t visited the Go Gym as often as I used too.

Granted part of that is the fact that the Go Gym spent the first couple of weeks on the month closed for the holidays but with Makayla’s pregnancy and Cassie’s whole situation in England I simply haven’t had time, I tried to make up for that when I could at Jessie’s home gym but a private gym housed in a basement complete with a wrestling ring can’t really compete with a professional training facility like the Go Gym.

Turned out I wasn’t the only one with that idea.

”So you went from a former champion who lost her title to a game of tug of war to the #1 Contender to the Bombshell Internet title after sitting on Christian’s cheesecake?” I asked Ariana with an amused look on my face as I watched my fellow former Roulette Champion workout on a rowing machine, Ariana stopped mid workout specifically to roll her eyes and I shook my head. ”Sore subject?”

”I couldn’t get much sleep last night because Recipe 4 Disaster’s Twitter account get flooded with requests for, and I’m quoting here, Ari’s Ass Cheesecake.” Ariana responded with a frown and I had to chuckle at the way she put it. ”Yeah, I know, Francisco laughed too until I threatened to make him sleep on the couch! At least I’m not in action next week.”

”Yeah, but I am.” I pointed out and Ariana nodded before she got off the rowing machine to let someone else use it. ”Funny how I’m wrestling one of your idols the week after you got given a shot at the Bombshell Internet Title right?”

”I was thinking that when I got the new card text yesterday admittedly, but I don’t think we’ve ever been able to figure out the rhyme and reason behind some of the matches the bosses book for the regular shows.” Ariana responded as she shook her head and I could definitely see where she was coming from in that regard. ”If it weren’t for the Twitter exchange she had with Eaven I’d have even more questions as to why Jessie got a #1 Contenders Match and not me, at least before I got that Bombshell Internet Title Shot.”

”Tell me about it! Sometimes I wonder if they just pick opponents by drawing names out of hats.” I responded with a slight laugh before sighing. ”Like how they decide the Blast from the Past teams but on a wider scale.”

”If I ever open my own promotion, I’m making that its main gimmick just to see if it could work!” Ariana responded with a laugh and I just shook my head with a chuckle. ”Speaking of Blast from the Past, any partner preferences this year?”

”My first year I managed to jynx myself by celebrating my partnership with Mark Cross like it was a ticket straight to the finals and well, we both know what happened there, my second year I still managed to jynx it by just saying that I was happy to have Jack Washington as a partner.” I sighed in response as I thought back to my last two tournaments, both had me teaming with former World Heavyweight Champions, both had me eliminated in the opening round, but I wasn’t about to give it up. ”At this point I’d take Bill Barnhart as a partner so I could carry his useless ass to the finals!”

”Let’s not jynx that either, your track record isn’t that great in that regard, remember?” Ariana reminded me and I nodded with a frown on my face. ”I’m still unsure about signing myself up for that tournament, because there’s a great chance that we’ll end up facing each other again.”

”If that does come to pass then all I have to say is this.” I responded before offering her a fist-bump. ”May the best members of the Go Sisters win!”

”Oh don’t worry!” Ariana responded as she accepted my fist bump offer. ”I will!” Ariana added before she resumed her workout and I went off to work on the weight machine.

*promo time*

Round two, fight!

”Ever feel like you’re stuck in the middle between two success stories? Well that’s how I feel right now considering my good friend and fellow Go Gym Graduate Ariana Angelos is set to challenge for the Bombshell Internet Title whilst Jessie Salco has her sights set yet again on the Bombshell Roulette Title, funny how that works out!” I commented as I stepped into view with my arms crossed. ”But this Sunday’s Climax Control will give me a chance to turn that around, but this is one of those rare instances where it’s a tossup as to who needs the win more, the young upstart or the Hall of Famer and co-owner of the training school right behind me!” I added before smirking. ”That’s right folks, it’s Krystal Wolfe vs. Roxi Johnson part two this Sunday!”

And now to explain some things.

”In case you missed Inception VI, well I hope you enjoyed your stay at A Rock Hotel! But aside from the other Crystal literally winning a title in a game of Tug of War and the end of Masque’s title reign the biggest news to come out of that show was the upset of the century! The rookie Georgie Robertson scored a win over the Hall of Famer and multiple time champion Roxi Johnson in a match that many assumed Roxi had in the bag before the opening bell even started!” I added as I flipped some hair over my shoulder. ”And I’ll admit that I was one of those people who assumed that the bosses had just given Roxi her first win of the year on a silver platter! But that upset has had me wondering one thing, does Roxi still have it in her?”

Good question.

”Let me make one thing clear before anyone jumps down my throat, I respect the hell out of Roxi as a wrestler and a person and it was Team Hero that helped me realize that the whole partnership with Matthew Kennedy was as toxic to my career as being associated with Michael Harris!” I added before making the finger funs motion. ”Shots fired! And if he decides to really test the bosses patience by attacking a Bombshell, I’ll just point out that I am a trained boxer and all it would take from me is one solid punch to the balls to stop him in his roided up tracks! But back to Roxi and the big question, if I respect her so much then why do I think that? And for that matter, why don’t I give Mercedes the same concession? Well for starters, Mercedes is downright delusional, but aside from that, the reason I say that is that I’ve wrestled Roxi twice since her last match against Masque and I’ve been wondering over the past few months if that match has left her a shell of her former self.”

Prove me wrong.

”If these words motivate you to prove me wrong Roxi then please channel it because I want my first Climax Control match of 2023 to be one to remember and not a rehash of my match against Evie Jordan at last year’s Blaze of Glory!” I added as I started to pace around the parking lot. ”And just to make one thing clear to you Roxi, that’s a comparison that I don’t make easy! But it’s like I said, you lost a match that a younger Roxi would’ve won handily and our match this Sunday is a chance for you to get back in that winner’s circle, unfortunately for you Roxi? I’ve already got my eyes on a spot in that same circle, and there’s only one of use who’s going to claim it!”

That person will be?

”And the way I see it? Either I claim that spot in the winner’s circle or I make you fight for it, or we somehow end up drawing against each other in which case we must ask just what the hell do we do now?” I added before shaking my head. ”I want to make one thing clear Roxi, a draw of any kind is something I want to avoid because I’d rather have that one draw against Char Kwan before I turned my luck and career around be my one and only but we’ll see what happens, won’t we?”

It's that simple.

”Team Hero has done a lot for me and my cousin Cassie, that’s hardly a secret at this point, but then again the same can be said for my competitive nature!” I added as I flipped some hair over my shoulder. ”The same competitive nature that saw me requesting title defence after title defence when I was the Bombshell Roulette Champion also means that I’m not about to give up this fight easily just because my opponents’ a member of the SCW Hall of Fame and the legendary Team Hero! Roxi you got the win the last time we fought back in December but I’ve learned from the mistakes I made in that match and I’ll use those lessons to make sure that you suffer your second upset loss in a row Roxi!”

And with that I decided to wrap things up.

”I’ve said some things that I never thought I’d say about Team Hero in this promo, never mind someone as legendary as Roxi, but what else am I supposed to say when Roxi loses to a rookie like Georgie Robertson?” I asked as I leaned against my car. ”Just to be clear? I’m happy for Georgie and I hope she rides that wave of momentum towards her first title reign because I know first-hand how that feels, but whilst she deals with the washed-up Mercedes Vargas, I deal with the potentially washed up  Roxi Johnson and as I turn the page on this chapter of my SCW journey? I implore you Roxi to prove me wrong or get struck down by the Down Under Thunderbomb! I’ll see you in the ring!”

I entered the car and drove off as the scene fades.
