I spent some time alone after the happenings in Cape Town. I even missed the sendoff of Mark Ward. Something I wanted to see. Most of the guys and girls caught early flights out, eager to get back to the states. But I didn’t want questions. I didn’t want applause or pats on the back for my efforts or actions. I wanted to deal with this alone.
I caught a late flight out, and there weren’t any SCW wrestlers on board. I wore a hat and sunglasses, a vain attempt to hide my face from everyone. It was mostly successful, but there were some who did recognize me. But it didn’t matter, I had an issue to take care of.
{We open in Roxi’s long abandoned apartment, as she opens the door and turns the lights on. She sets her bags down and opens her closet, and retrieves her costume. Wasting no time, she starts putting it on.}
And it was personal.
{In a series of quick cuts, Roxi finishes putting on her costume, and heads out the window. Swinging around and grappling her way to the ground, she pushes a button and retrieves her motorcycle. She gets on, revs up the engine, and soon zooms off towards her destination.}
A lot of thoughts of ran through my head as I drove. I didn’t exactly know what I was going to do, or how far I would go. I just knew that time was running thin, and I had to act quickly. But deep in the back of my subconscious, I was going to enjoy this.
{Her bikes speeds through the city, weaving in and out of traffic.}
{Flash to a few weeks ago, Roxi sits in a strange room, alone, until the door opens and Electra peeks her head in.
Electra – How are you feeling?
{Roxi doesn’t answer. Electra sighs and enters the room, closing the door behind her.}
Electra – A lot of people are worried about you.
{Roxi turns her head towards Electra, a scowl on her face.}
Roxi – Don’t lie to me. I want to leave.
Electra – I don’t think that’s a good idea. You’re not yourself. We don’t need you on the streets, possibly doing something you’ll regret.
Roxi – What do you know? Cyrus told me that people would try to stifle me. And it looks like he was right.
{Electra sits down next to Roxi.}
Electra – No. He’s not right. He’s been using you. I don’t know why, but if you help me understand, maybe we’ll be able get through this.
Roxi – What’s there to tell? Cyrus has told me what I needed to know.
Electra – Then why did you run away?
Roxi – I…. I don’t know.
Electra – I may not know you, but I know enough to know that this isn’t you. Perhaps some more…familiar faces would help you?
{Electra gets up, and opens the door, and Roxi’s old rival Kahlan Fisher, AKA Bliss steps through the door.}
Roxi – Kahlan…
Kahlan – Roxi? Jesus what happened to you?
Roxi – None of your business.
Kahlan – Look, you need to get it together. I’m…I’m actually worried about you.
Roxi – You don’t care about anyone but family. I don’t need your help.
Kahlan - Don’t you judge me, you crazy –
Electra – Kah!
{Kahlan bites her tongue to stop herself and throws her hands up.}
Kahlan – I told you this wasn’t’ going to work. I tried, but she doesn’t need to see me.
{Electra scratches her head, and then snaps her fingers.}
Electra – Of course! Kah you’re a genius.
Kahlan – … Sure.
{Electra leads Kahlan out of the room, leaving Roxi alone.}
Kahlan – What’s the big idea?
Electra – I need Keira.
Kahlan – For what?
Electra – Maybe she can talk some sense into Roxi.
Kahlan – …Good luck with that. I’ve got things to do.
{Kahlan walks away from Electra, but Electra grabs her by the wrist}
Electra – Just…stay here and make sure she doesn’t go anywhere.
{Kahlan scowls.}
Kahlan – I’m not a babysitter.
Electra – I shouldn’t be long.
{Kahlan tries to get another word in, but Electra already has her coat on, and walks out the door.}
{A short time later, Electra returns with Sin, who is stalking her through the door.}
Kahlan – So, you found her?
Electra – Listen, Keira, I know you’re in there, I need your help.
Sin – Keira is dead, you fool. Why did you bring me here? I have a man to destroy.
Electra – Okay, I’ll made you a deal. You help me, I help you?
{Sin folds her arms.}
Sin – What deal?
Electra – Roxi is in there. I need you to help me reach her. Once that happens, Cyrus is all yours.
{Sin smirks evily.}
Sin – Is that so?
Electra – Absolutely. Just help me.
{Sin stares at Electra, contemplating this.}
Sin – I will do it, but you had better be able to guarantee me Cyrus.
Electra – I’ll do my best.
Sin – Then show me.
{Electra leads Sin into Roxi’s room, where Roxi is staring out the window, until Sin walks into the room. Roxi jumps back and creates as much possible distance between Sin and herself.}
Electra – Roxi, calm down!
Roxi – You idiot! Why did you bring her here? She’ll kill us all!
Electra – No, calm down.
Sin – She’s right you know.
Electra – Just…calm down, both of you. Sin, I need Keira.
Sin – Keira is dead.
Electra – I know she’s still inside you. She has to be. Just for a moment…
{Sin rolls her eyes.}
Sin – What are you trying to do?
Electra – Let Roxi see Keira.
Sin – To see what she created? Ha! Gladly.
{Electra backs off, and Sin’s black hair begins glowing. She creates a projection of Keira, suffering.}
Roxi – K…Keira?
[color-yellow]Keira – [/color]Help me!
Roxi – Keira!
Electra – It’s working!
Sin – She’s pathetic, and I’m not giving her back.
Roxi – No!
{Keira’s image begins to cry and her pleas her stronger.}
Keira – Please help me!
{Roxi starts reaching for the projection.}
Electra – Roxi, Keira needs you. We all need you. You can’t let this happen!
{Roxi continues to reach, as the projection fades.}
Sin – I’m done with this.
{Roxi still reaches, but, there’s nothing there.}
Roxi – What have I done?
Electra – Roxi?
Roxi – I let her get hurt…
Sin – Satisfied? Remember our bargin, Otherwise, I’m coming for you.
{Sin pushes past Electra and soon is out of sight. Electra comes to Roxi’s side.}
Roxi – She’s gone. It’s all my fault…
Electra – You can still save her. I promise. But we have to get Cyrus out of the way first.
Roxi – … I can’t.
Electra – Yes, you can. Just trust me.
Roxi – I’m not that person anymore. She’s gone.
Electra – Keira needs you, and if you don’t help me, we’re never going to get her back. There’s still time, but we have to work together.
{Roxi looks up into Electra’s eyes.}
Roxi – What do you need me to do?
I didn’t know what to think, besides that Keira was my number one priority. I couldn’t lose her again. No matter what Cyrus told me, I had to help Keira. What I let her become…I had to fix it.
Electra – Here’s the plan… I’ve already agreed to help Cyrus bring you back.
Roxi – That’s not a good idea.
Electra – It’s a risk, I’ll admit, but here’s the deal: You go back, and pretend to be with him.
Roxi – He will know I’m faking it.
Electra – No. Because you’re going to beat me up.
Roxi – You want me to beat you up?
Electra – Just… Make it convincing, and then when the moment is right, we’ll take him down.
Roxi – And what about Keira?
Electra – We’ll have to take this one step at a time. Cyrus is dangerous, Sin can’t know what’s going on until after we take him down.
Roxi – Sin is unpredictable, she’s not going to just stay away. We have to work fast.
Electra – We’ll do what we can. But you have to make it convincing once I’m not there.
Roxi – I’ll do what I can. I may have to do some things I can’t take back. Just remember that.
Electra – Good. Remember, this is for Keira.
Roxi – Right.
It broke my heart to see Alexis get beaten, and not be able to do anything about it. I couldn’t break it up, I couldn’t stop him. Maybe I played the part too well, I don’t know, but the end result, I would bring it back on him 10 fold. I was going to make him pay, for what he did to me, to her, and to everyone. And that’s why I made this journey.
{Back to the present, as Roxi revs her motorcycle, as she stops a few blocks away from Cyrus’ apartment building. She climbs a fire escape, and maneuvers across the rooftops. Once she’s in position, she crouches.}
Time for payback.
{Roxi leaps across the roof, and crashes through the window. Cyrus is startled by the commotion.}
Cyrus – What the?
{Roxi stands up, brushing the glass off her. She eyeballs Cyrus.}
Cyrus – What are you supposed to *Ack!
{Roxi grips Cyrus by the throat and begins strangling him. Roxi knees him in the gut, and does more knees to the head and ribcage, dropping Cyrus to the ground. Roxi gets in a dominant position, and begins throwing punches. Each one hurting her hand, but at this point, she doesn’t feel it. Cyrus has covered up, and is almost in the fetal position. Roxi only gets up because she’s has so much pent up anger, she can’t control herself.}
Cyrus – What…what are you doing?
{Roxi turns and gives him a stiff kick the ribs. Trying to control her breathing, she turns towards Cyrus who is sitting up against the couch.}
Roxi – I should kill you.
Cyrus – Who are you? What have I done to you?
{Roxi reaches up and rips off her mask.}
Roxi – You ruined my life.
{Cyrus is shocked.}
Cyrus – Roxi? What is this –
{Roxi gives him another kick. She leans down in front of him.}
Roxi – You turned my friends against me.
{Punch.}
Roxi – You turned the people against me.
{Punch.}
Roxi – You took away my freedom.
{Punch.}
Roxi – You took away my girlfriend.
{Punch. Cyrus is now bleeding from the mouth. Barely conscious.}
Roxi – And I’m taking them back.
{Punch.}
Roxi – All of them.
{Cyrus spits the blood out of his mouth.}
Cyrus – After all I did for you…
Roxi – I’m giving it all back to you.
Cyrus – You’re going…to ruin everything we’ve done. You’re going to give it all up…for who? For them? Out there? Who don’t care about you?
Roxi – Gladly…
{The room begins to shake.}
Wait…I feel it coming. Not now…
Cyrus – What’s that?
Roxi – She’s here.
{From the outside, Sin smashes through the door. Roxi looks at Sin, and turns away.}
Sin – Cyrus….
Cyrus – NO…You can’t!
Roxi – I can’t what?
Cyrus – You can’t leave me with her!
Roxi – I said I should kill you, but I’m not.
{Roxi looks Cyrus in the eye}
Roxi – I can't say the same for her though...
{Roxi turns away from the action.}
Cyrus – NO!
Sin – You're about as weak and pathetic as those two punks I killed long ago, when they murdered Keira's parents. Thing is. Their deaths was quick and painless
{Sin gets on her knees, looking down at Cyrus.}
Sin – But for you? Yours won't be quick nor painless. For each moment you were with Roxi. Each moment you decided to toy with them. I'm going to enjoy killing you.
{Sin begins to wrap her fingers around Cyrus' neck, choking him as she says}
Sin – .....Nice...and slow
{As Sin chokes him slowly, she looks down and says to him}
Sin – Beg...beg for your worthless life!
I would have enjoyed it. I would have loved it. But, I couldn’t let it happen.
{Roxi turns back to Cyrus and Sin.}
Roxi – Stop.
{Sin looks up at Roxi.}
Sin – Stop? Why?
{Sin tightens her grip.}
Roxi – I said stop. Not this way.
Sin – Why not?
Roxi – Because it’s not right.
{Sin tightens her grip more, getting angry.}
Sin – He’s SCUM! He deserves to DIE! And it was PROMISED!
Roxi – I know that. I’m sorry. But I can’t let you do that.
Sin – You can’t stop me!
Roxi – Please, don’t do this Keira.
Sin – Keira is dead! I told you!
Roxi – I need her back.
Sin – You’re a fool.
Roxi – No. Keira is still in there, and I want her back.
{Sin picks up Cyrus and holds him up, her arm wrapping tightly around his neck.}
Sin – You brought me here! This is his fault! He has to pay for his crimes!
Roxi – Let him go.
Sin – No. I’m going to do, what you are too afraid to do.
Roxi – Don’t do it.
Sin – Choose then, either you do it, or I do it.
Roxi – No.
Sin – Why not? Doesn’t he deserve it? For what he did to you?
Roxi – Of course he does! But that would be too easy. I’ve been thinking of nothing but revenge for a long time. But, I can’t cross that line again. Because if I do, I’m not coming back.
Sin – You are weak.
Roxi – I just want Keira back.
Sin – No!
{Roxi drops to her knees, in front of them.}
Roxi – You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy, when skies are grey.
Sin – … What are you…
{Sin’s grip loosens, but she has choked Cyrus into unconsciousness. Cyrus slides down, and lays still.}
Roxi – You’ll never know dear, how much I love you…
Sin – P…Please…don’t take…my…sunshine away.
Roxi – That’s right. C’mon Keira. Come back to me.
Sin – No….No..R…Roxi?
{Keira’s hair changes color, back to the natural blonde. There is a loud scream, and a small explosion. Keira sways, and then collaspes to the ground.}
Roxi – Keira. I love you.
{Keira doesn’t respond, but Roxi checks her breathing. Once satisfied, Roxi looks around and walks into the next room, and finds Alexis, who is shaking uncontrollably, with several empty morphine syringes at her feet.}
Roxi – Don’t worry Alexis, we’re going to get you some help.
{Roxi cradles Alexis and carries her to the open window, using a cord on her belt, she lowers Alexis to the ground. Getting another cord, Roxi attaches Cyrus to it, and lowers him to the ground. Then, Roxi grabs Keira, and swings down with her. The ambulances arrive shortly after, and Keira, Alexis, and Cyrus are transported away. Roxi was long gone, having gotten back on her bike, and driven off. }
There was a time where I thought I couldn’t have made a difference anymore. I didn’t know if I was through with this lifestyle.
But how does the old saying go?
Old habits die hard.
