Act 1: Why?

“You must understand the whole of life, not just one little part of it. That is why you must read, that is why you must look at the skies, that is why you must sing, and dance, and write poems, and suffer, and understand, for all that is life.”

The scene opens on a massive home somewhere in Jersey. The snow still clung to the ground, and the sun was bright over the city, against the blue sky. The city was full of life and people moved about going about their daily routine's while at one massive manor a celebration was going on. The grand hall in the back of the house had been transformed into a place of color and balloons. Pink, and white balloons hung over the room, while tables sat in the room with the same pink and white table cloths and a setting of fine china, silver, and crystal sat at each place. The hall was starting to fill with people, and we soon see familiar faces in the crowd. It was Joanne and the boys. They had been invited to a wedding for one of the many family members on her father's side. She was wearing a deep red dress that clung to her body but showed off her body in every way possible. They move to one of the tables near the middle of the room and sit down. The crowd moves by them, a few them stop and kiss her rings before moving on. Joanne sighs, and leans back in the chair as they start bringing bottles of wine to the tables.

Reno: They leave the bottles on the table?

Joanne: They always do. By the end of this there will be at least 6 bottles on the table.

Rude: You're upset because of the one that got away.

Joanne looks at him with narrowed eyes and starts to pour herself a glass of wine and downs it and pours herself another glass.

Scarpaci: Take it easy sis. Remember you have to go and see the Don in a bit.

Joanne: I know. I'll be fine... Besides I can handle this cheap swill. When I get married it's goin' to be the good stuff on the tables.

Rude: When are you going to ask the boss to marry you?

Reno's face goes red, as he looks over at Joanne, and she downs the rest of the glass that she had in her hand.

Reno: Ummm... I don't know if we're up to...

Joanne: I'm goin' to powder my nose... I'll be back in a minute.

With that Joanne gets up from the table and heads out of the hall and out into the hallway. She heads toward the bathrooms but takes a turn and walks out to the balcony that went around the back of the house. She could look down through the glass ceiling and into the hall. The bride and groom arrive and the crowd bursts into cheers as they do. Joanne sighs, and leans against the railing.

Joanne:* Voice Over* I should have had my time in the sun a long time ago. I should have been married by now to the man of my dreams, and of my nightmares, but yet here I stand in a relationship that will stay the same for the rest of my days... If he asked me would I even accept? When HE asked I said yes, but after what happened to my mother I backed away, and now look where I am... I'm almost past my prime, and the head of a family that should have been passed to my brother not to me.

Joanne watches the crowd below heading to the buffet table knowing the party was starting. She needed time to herself before she went back down and join the celebration.

Joanne: *Voice Over * My life has been everythin' that anyone would want. I've had everythin' handed to me when I was younger, but when I was old enough to work I did. I've had a hard life in some ways, but in others yes I was very privileged. I had a lovin' family, protected 24/7, and wealth. I got bored with my life after I took the family. Bein' stuck behind a desk isn't the way I wanted to spend my younger years so I looked elsewhere for excitement. That's when I found my first wrestlin' company and did very well before movin' onto another. After a match between HE and I, I was near death, and went through 18 hours of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. I retired for a couple of years and then came back to another. I've been in this business a very long time and seen a lot of great people come and go. In two weeks time I'll be standin' in the middle of the ring once again in a tag team match for the Bombshell Tag Titles. I have a second chance of getting' my hands on them and this time I'm not goin' to let them slip through my hands.

She shivers slightly and heads back inside, and closes the doors behind her.  She walks through the hallways with her high heeled shoes clicking on the wooden floors below her.

Joanne: *Voice Over* Misty you have been a thorn in my side since I started here. I don't know what your problem is with me, but it's goin' to end in this match. Ever since you got your hands on those tag titles with Odette you've seemed to mellow out. Why is that? Did she actually rub off on you? Or is because you figured you get a bit further if you weren't a total bitch to everyone around you? I've been in the same ring with you several times and each time I thought I had you, you've always managed to get the upper hand and walk away with the win, but not this time. I've been watchin' your matches and you're good but not that good. You've been makin' mistakes here and there, and I will do everythin' I can to exploit them. I'm an opportunist, and I'm the one you really need to look out for. I'm dangerous in every sense of the word, and I won't give up no matter what happens in this match. But the question is Misty how far will you go to keep your titles? How long will you last in the ring with Emma and myself? I know that you'll try to fight back, but you are getting' to the point where the fans are startin' to forget about you and lose faith in you, but me... I'm risin' all the way to the top, and that is where I'm goin' to stay no matter what I have to do.

Joanne stops in front of a large picture that over looked the staircase. It was of an older couple with the woman standing at the right hand size of the man that is seated. The name underneath read “Don El Mache and Mrs El Mache.” The family was one of the oldest in Jersey and very well respected. Joanne had grown up playing with the bride as children and ended up helping them out of a really bad deal a few years back. She sighs and starts back down the stairs.

Joanne: *Voice Over* Is it because of the threat of death that I didn't marry HIM? Or is it somethin' else? I knew then that HE couldn't die, and he would be with me at all times, but yet I still walked away... Am I fool for lettin' HIM go? Or am I better off without HIM? There will always be a friendship between us, no matter what the situation is. I mean HE  is married now, and has a kid... Damn it why I am thinkin' like this? It's goin' to drive me insane if I don't stop thinkin' about this.

She walks down the stairs and reaches the bathroom, and steps inside. The lights hum to life as she flips the switch, and looks at herself in the mirror.

Joanne: *Voice Over*Vixen you know you never should have won that match we had to see who would be Misty's partner. That match was brutal and I had that match won until you managed to get the upper hand, and got the pin. So far you haven't said a word and that makes me think that your either goin' to wait and see what is said about you, or you are just goin' to keep silent  and see what happens. I wish you would keep your mouth shut, but I know that I'm not that lucky. You'll open your mouth and spout off as you usually do and show your true colors not only to us but to the rest of the world as well. You're such a disappointment in the ring, and I have to say that last time that we were in the ring together I could read your tells like it was nothin'. You're predictable at best Vixen, and soon the tag titles will be in my hands, and Emma's as well.

Joanne fixes her makeup a bit, and applies a little lipstick before heading out of the bathroom and heading back toward the hall.

Joanne: *Voice Over* As for you Emma, I just hope that the two of us can stay on the same page durin' this whole thin'. That pisses me off so much when I have a partner that doesn't work with me or just has their own interests in mind. This week we have a chance at takin' the Bombshell tag titles and I'm not walkin' away without them, and I know you don't want to either. We have a chance at getting' those titles, and I don't want anythin' standin' in our way. I will fight and claw my way to the top and take what I want, and if that means draggin' Vixen and Misty through the dirt just to get those titles then so be it. By the end of this match they will be nothin' but broken, bruised, bloodied and beaten, and wonderin' where they went wrong. Tell me Emma can I trust you to watch my back in this match? How bad do you want those titles? I've held them once before and I plan on getting' my hands on them again, no matter what it takes.

She reaches the doors of the hall once again, and sighs looking inside. The crowd had lined up at the buffet table, but Joanne sat back down at their table. Her appetite had faded and the wine was starting to go to her head.

Joanne: *Voice Over*I don't think there's anythin' left to say about our match. I mean how many times can I say I'm goin' to kick your ass? I guess you can only say it once before it gets old and repetitive don't you think? Maybe it's the wine talkin' but in two weeks time those titles will be mine and there is nothing that you can do to stop me. We are the Mafioso; and we get paid to kick your ass! See you soon ladies.

Joanne smiles to herself and opens another bottle of wine that had been placed on the table and pours herself another glass. The night was still young, and the wine would flow like water. The boys come back and sit down as Joanne gets to her feet, and walks off as the scene fades to black.

 Cosa Nostra…This thing of ours…

Vixen slides deeper into the cushions of a papa san chair, the open book taking all her attention, a hot chai tea cooling on the table beside her.  From across the room, a voice can be heard talking to the woman and only getting the odd grunt or distracted murmur from Vixen.

“Babe, what are you doin’ to get ready for your match at the supercard?” asks Spike in an exasperated voice as he finally just turns around on his chair to look at his fiancée.

“Studying up on what I might need to know,” replies Vixen with a distracted smile for Spike before turning back to the book.  Spike gets to his feet and pulls the book out of her hands, closing it on his finger as he reads the title.

“The Godfather?” he states with a look of surprise.

“We are facing Joanne Canelli in this tag title match,” Vixen replies as she reaches up for the book only to have Spike pull it further out of her grasp.  “Love, I was reading that.”

“I know you were,” he replies as he waves the book in front of Vixen.  “But what do you think that this will give you in your match?”

Vixen smiles at Spike as she slowly unfolds herself from the chair and then reaches out to let her hands slide up his chest and wrap around his neck before teasingly leaning up for a kiss to whisper, “Come on love, she’s some kind of mafia princess don’t you know.  I figured that Puzo would give me some pointers on what to do when I face her.”

Spike smiles slowly as he brings his own arms around Vixen to pull her closer.  “I don’t think Mario Puzo could teach you how to outwrestle Joanne Canelli.”  He slowly plants a kiss on Vixen’s lips as her hands move to take the book from Spike.

“Maybe not,” she teases as she pulls away.  “But I did make you an offer you couldn’t refuse.”

“Oh you did…” he teases back as he grabs Vixen and tosses her over his shoulder to carry her upstairs.  Vixen giggles as she struggles only lightly.

Once upstairs, Spike tosses her onto their mussed bed before jumping to follow her only to land on a solid object that causes a string of expletives.  Vixen sits up quickly with concern as Spike reaches into the covers and pulls out a chess knight.  Holding it up in front of Vixen’s eyes, she can’t help but give him a look before dissolving into the giggles.

“What is so funny,” he demands as she reaches for the knight.

“That was the part I was at,” she replies.  “I was just reading about the horse’s head in the bed and what do you know…I found one in ours.”  The comedic look on Spike’s face only makes Vixen laugh harder.  “I am sorry Spike, it just is too funny.”

With a hrrmph of annoyance, Spike leans on the pillow and looks at Vixen.  “You have to take this seriously Vix,” he states as he caresses her cheek.  “These are the tag titles and you have a lot to prove with them.  Hell, if you listen to this Canelli person, you don’t deserve the title because you are nothing but a disappointment in the ring.  Everyone seems to say that about you.”

“And I keep proving them wrong, just like I am going to prove them wrong at My Bloody Valentine.  Spike, you know that I take my wrestling seriously but sometimes I just have to let it go.  I just have to be the goofy silly me at times otherwise I let things fester until I end up hurting someone.  Is that what you want to see love?  Did you want me to utterly dismantle Emma and Joanne Canelli?  I can get in that mindset…”

Vixen lets the comment trail off, her face showing a new intensity that is vastly different from the funloving woman of only a few moments ago.  Spike’s smile is half hidden in shadows as he tries to keep some levity in their conversation.  “I just don’t want you to let this slide.  You and Misty are in a place now where the two of you are the dominant tag team in SCW and nothing or no one will take that from you.  You are the first ever grand slam bombshell champion in the history of the company.  Between you and Misty, this match isn’t going to be lost at all.”

Leaning on one elbow, Vixen can’t help but nod.  “You’re right as always Spike,” she sighs.  “This was getting to a level where I don’t think any of us would see it as what it really is.  This cosa nostra of me and Misty…this is a legacy that we are going to leave on the bombshell tag division.”

“And just remember, once Misty loses these titles, she is hanging it up,” said Spike as he reclines next to Vixen.  “You won’t want to be the one to make that happen any time soon, do you?”

Vixen shakes her head in the negative.  “I know I want to keep the tag team going as long as I can.  So I will get ready for the match in the only way I know how.”

“And that is?” asks Spike as Vixen gets off the bed and begins to walk towards the door.

“I’m going to claim omerta on this one love,” replies Vixen.  “I think that what is going to happen shouldn’t be talked about too much before the match.”

“Omerta?  What is that?”

“It is a code of silence that the mafia use.  Besides, I want it to be a surprise,” Vixen replies before leaving the room and heading downstairs.  Once there, she grabs her laptop and opening it, begins to record something.
This is Vixen and I want to send a message out to my opponents for the super card.  Misty and I have gelled as a team and now you are coming to try to take our titles.  I just have to wish you luck because let me just tell you one thing.

I am in no way shape or form going to let you think for one minute that I won’t do what is necessary to keep these titles where they belong, right around the waists of Misty and myself. So my apology right now ladies.  I know how you think that Misty and I are ready to be beaten for the belts and that after the supercard, the belts will be on your waists.

First let me address Emma Rose.  I know you are a tough woman who could very well be someone that could wear the titles and trust me, you have my respect but this night won’t be the night you will start being called the champion.

And then there is Joanne Canelli.  The Jersey Girl that thinks she is tough.  Joanne, I know you are tough and I know the life you have led.  But let me tell you something.  I know more about violence, more about life and death than any two bit Mafiosi moll could ever claim to know.  And if you want to debate it with me, I’ll be doing all my talking in the ring at My Bloody Valentine.

Vixen stops recording and then opens her youtube channel and posts the message to her opponents before shutting down the machine and closing the top of the laptop.  Patting it, she gets to her feet and pads out of the room, hitting the light switch sending the room to black.
