"Dear Diary,
Today, I discovered my creative side! I didn't think I even had a creative side, but knowing is half the battle and all that jazz. I joined an arts and crafts class in the area. I've been told that I'm good with my hands, so I decided to spend the day on my latest project. My class wasn’t too fond of it, but whatever. Now, I was no Robinson Crusoe, but I learned a few things that day: Trying to piece my ego together, well, what I could find of it after my match two weeks ago with Nessa and Vixen anyway, is very hard work. I also learned that duct tape and a glue gun can only do so much. When I think about it, I can't say I am too proud of my handiwork, but I think it'll hold up. Hopefully. Maybe. Probably.
Le sigh.
Well, in other more glorious news, I've been working on my serve at the tennis court all this week. I think I did pretty well if I do say so myself, which I just did in narrative form. I almost twisted my ankle on two line drives and committed a fault or two...or ten, but it's the experience that counts, right? Right.
Well, I have my match this weekend to look forward to. Tag match with Necra Kane against Nessa Wall and Jessie Salco. Because facing them once isn't enough. Ugh!
And teaming with Necra makes Sunday even better.

(Mercedes looks up from her latest journal entry as we see her sitting on a bench at the far end of the tennis court. Her tennis uniform clings to her, even after the crash course she just went through hours earlier. She closes her hand on her tennis racket and beings bouncing a tennis ball against it before standing to her feet and repeatedly hitting the ball back and forth against the net as our scene fades.)

(Hands grip a pair of small mallets. They produce a timbre sound striking the large steel pan. The steel drum musician nods his head to the music as another musician is at the marimba. Together they entertain the small gathering enjoying a good time here at the Colony Club Beaches in the Barbados.)
"You find out you're book for Climax Control, nobody cares. But find out you're book for Climax Control and it’s a tag match with Necra Kane, and everybody loses their minds."
(Our scene opens on Mercedes Vargas, spending a lazy afternoon resting in a hammock, a book in hand. As if on cue, she slams it shut, placing it next to her and sits up, the crystal blue sea serving as a backdrop.)
"Honestly, I didn't think I would even have a match this weekend, but as it turns out, that is indeed the case. But you know what my deal breaker is, Necra? You and me working together as a team, because that's what we're supposed to do. And look, I get it, I totally get it, OK? No need to spell it out. You don’t have to speak reeeeeal slow, like what I did just now. It's no secret that you don’t like me, I don’t like you. But, see, that’s the fun part. Because nine times out of ten, relationships are built off of two people who have different personalities, and likes and dislikes. I know that if you had a choice, you would pick your own partner. Unfortunately, Amy Marshall isn't here this week as I’m sure she’s still stoked over her victory in the 'Odette Ryder Invitational.' I should have that copyrighted.
"Plus, I don’t think Amy’s gotten over how you screwed her over while refereeing her match three weeks ago. Great job, by the way."
(Mercedes offers a slow, rhythmic, sarcastic applause. She smiles, shakes her head.)
"No, really, great job there, Necra. I think Jasmine St. John might want to watch her back, she may have found competition in trying to be the only female referee employed in SCW. If anything, I think you may have finally found your calling once you decide to call it a career."
(Mercedes snorts and laughs. Why not wait until Necra retires? SCW might have something here. While Mercedes may not have been in SCW very long - it's been well over three months since her debut - if she saw that Necra really wanted to trade in her wrestling boots for zebra stripes, then the company might as well let her referee more matches. After acquiring ACW, having another female referee might not be so bad for equality. After all, SCW is only doing what's good for business.)
"I could have told you to find another partner, I could have stood you up, no-showed the match just to spite you, but against my better judgment I guess I have no choice but to make the best of a bad situation. You want to wrestle the entire match by yourself? Don't stop on account of me. Go for it. Go right ahead. Knock yourself out. I'm sure I can keep myself occupied in my corner. Playing Candy Crush Saga is my newest obsession these days. Maybe I'll check the airport departure times while you take care of our opponents. I mean, after all, it's only Jessie and Nessa, right? I'm sure you can handle this one."
(Mercedes shrugs her shoulders and looks at the camera as if to say, "How hard could it be?")
"Not going to make a difference in this match because if I know you like I think I do, you really want to win this, don’t you? Go on, nod your head, you know you want to. As far as tonight goes, I'm not going to be playing nice just because we're tagging along, and I'm sure you wouldn't care about my well-being, but that's OK. I've been known to take care of myself in these types of situations."
(And it looked like it just another one of "these type of situations" when she and Necra face their opponents Sunday. It could be said that one team wanted nothing to do with each other, and the other? Well, at least the member of that team couldn't be happier teaming with the champion.)
"Jessie Salco, you always talk about how people shouldn’t underestimate you, and you know, maybe the opponents you've faced in the past have their reasons, but Jessie, just for once, have you ever looked at it from your point of view? Maybe it’s not them underestimating you. Maybe it’s not them, maybe it’s not me."
"Maybe it’s you."
"Now let that sink in."
(Mercedes pauses for a moment as her expression softens. A deep breath escapes her lips as she continues. The camera zooms in on her face.)
"When I beat you a little over three weeks ago, there was a smile on my face, but I was really crying on the inside. I was disappointed in you, Jessie. It hurt, it hurt right here. (she places a hand over her heart) I expected so much better from you. Sure, you put on a brave face for the opponent standing across from you in the ring or when the camera is on you, but for that moment, is your opponent really taking it easy on you? I don't think so. I don't think your opponent underestimates you, Jessie Salco."
"Jessie Salco underestimates Jessie Salco."
"Maybe it’s you second guessing yourself. You want all that to stop? Here’s your chance. Here’s your one chance, Jessie. Think of this as a carnival game, you get one shot. Because you’re not the only former Bombshell Tag Team and Bombshell Roulette Champion in this match. See, it doesn’t matter what I think about her as a person, it doesn’t matter what I think about her in-ring ability, it doesn’t matter what I think about her title reign, it doesn’t matter that I think she’s full of crap...standing across from you is Necra Kane and myself, your opponents Sunday night, Jessie, and we both want to win this match. So while you could see our dysfunctional tag team as a weakness, it very well could be our strength.
Teaming with the champ? You make it sound as if you’re expecting Nessa to do all the work. I sure hope she’s ready for that, because I’ll be the first one to post before-and-after pictures when this match is over. Carrying all that weight can’t be good for her figure."
(Mercedes looks out towards the sea. A family of four are kayaking, with two members on each boat. She squints just a bit to see a kayak not too far behind. She turns back to the camera.)
"The last Climax Control before High Stakes III, can’t wait. So, I bet you feel on top of the world after your very first title defense two weeks ago, huh, Nessa? Finally got your retribution against Vixen, and, to a lesser extent, me. Well, not quite. I mean, it’s not like you pinned either one of us, you just proved that you were able to win an obstacle course.
Now, now, before you go on some tangent about wanting to take that title off of your waist, that's not entirely true. This may come as a shock to you, but I'm not quite interested in your title, even though I have yet to win a single title opportunity. Of course, we can't forget that they were all under "roulette rules." I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't a fan, but it has slowly grown on me, as I'm sure it has on you as well. That Ultimate X match sure was something, wasn't it? Don't know if you'll be defending your title at the next pay-per-view, but I bet you're anxious to know what stipulation our match will have. I'm starting to like these roulette rules matches. Keeps you on your toes, just like how you and Jessie will have to be on Sunday at Climax Control."
"So, um, prepare for trouble, and make it double!"
(Mercedes pauses with a straight face.
"What. It's the best I could come up with!"
(She shakes her head.)
"Nessa, Jessie, I'll see you there. And Necra, my tag team partner, I will see you there."
(And we fade.)
