Issue #13
« on: April 20, 2013, 08:28:54 PM »
I'm really not in the mood after last week. The fact is I should have beaten Amanda Cortez, and I'm so sick of having people like Laura Jackson and Jessie Salco come running down and getting involved in my business. Thankfully, this next match is in a cage, so nobody else can just run down to ruin my time here in SCW.

So, it comes to this. Team Eric vs. Team SCW. Odette, Myself, Vixen and Fath, vs. Misty, The Fallen and Octavia Kane. Team Eric.

First of all, Team Eric is lame. What is this, Twilight? That's just a terrible, terrible name for any group. I'm serious. Did no one think of a better name than that? That is just the worst.

The Fallen...Really you two? With the whole vampire thing? You know where I put people who think they're vampires? The category of people who have little to no imagination. Oh, I get it. It's a fantasy. Some people clearly have watched Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt a little too much in their lives. Or maybe, you love that whole Twilight thing. Or maybe you're addicted to True Blood? I don't know, and I don't really care. The end result of Misty hiring herself two vampires is them losing their tag team titles and ending up looking like bigger idiots then they do now. Sure they're big, tall, crudely dressed and are in serious need of some sun, but let's face it, they don't scare anyone around here. How about you deal with REAL vampires, and then, you call and tell me how it all works.

Those belts seem to be going around like the flu, So I am confident that Vixen and I, even though I don't know her, and I don't really trust her, can beat them for those belts, and finally get a chance to bring some stability to them. But that's simply a consolation prize in this match, as I'm forced to challenge for the tag titles. That's fine, everyone has to start small I suppose. Being at the top of SCW isn't going to happen overnight. Well, in my case, it could have, if other people would stop getting in my way for no real reason.

I know, it's hard to take them seriously with the whole vampire or...whatever it is they do...I just know that I can beat them, and Vixen will have a partner who will actually be helpful to her, rather than Jessie Salco who is just an annoyance. Together, we can take down those two girl Dracula's and take back the title for Team SCW.

Necra Octavian Kane. Wow Misty, you really picked some winners here. It's like you got every character in the Count Chocula library to help you. This is like every rejected villain from a bad Monster Squad sequel. I wonder if they're going to help you solve any mysteries when this is over.

Anyway, Necra, I was never really afraid of mummies or zombies, as a matter of fact, I've been training to murder zombies in my spare time. Mummies are pretty similar, except for the fact that usually can't see where they're going. Nor do I believe in soul stealing, and all that other stuff you do. I don't really care about that, so you can save it for Halloween when that spiel might actually be worth anything.

Wait, wait, are you supposed to be an immortal princess? Is that it? No? Wait, I got it, Immortal Queen? No? Okay, a person who loves Egyptian history a little too much? Bingo. I win. That's all well and good, but immortality is a myth, and that's really, really hokey. Is this where you hypnotize me or something? Maybe you try to find me a pharoah for a husband? Well, I do need a steadier guy in my life. Since Herman is the closest thing I got. But judging by the way you act, and your taste in...pretty much anything, I'll have to pass on that. But I will go ahead and take pleasure in kicking you ass in the cage in two weeks.

I was ever so close to Misty until three weeks ago, when Amy Marshall won that battle royal with Laura Jackson's help. I know I should have won that match, and I know I would have beaten Misty for that title, and it would be around my waist right now. But that was then, this is now, and while I'm not actually competing for the Bombshell championship, it's going to be little bit of a long overdue wish to get Misty in the ring. I want to see where I stand, and since she holds that title, I want to prove it to not only myself, but to everyone watching that I am capable of defeating Misty should it come to that.  But then again, Misty could come up with nothing anyway when the match is over. But as far as the match goes, I want my shot at her as much as the next person. Oddette, I hate to break it to you, but I'm gunning for Misty, because she needs to be knocked down a peg or two, despite being the champion, she's not better than I am. Nor is she better than anyone in this match. I see what's going on here, Misty doesn't me near her title, so she's trying to keep me far away from it, in case she somehow retains it. Maybe I'll just hold the tag team titles and be happy. I'm not going to be satisfied until I win that Bombshell champion. I know I can beat her, all I need is the chance to prove I can beat any champion.

That includes Gothika and Raynin.

I want you to know Misty, that even when this is over, and even though we haven't officially faced one another, that I am coming to take you down. Title or no title. You want to be the standard by which all these bombshells are measured, then you are the person I'm looking for. You are the person I want to go after, you are the person I MUST defeat. And the first step happens when Team SCW beats your team into the ground.

You wish to know why I am fighting? Why I chose to join Team SCW? Why I am waging war against Team Eric? The reason should be very simple. Team Eric is leading these people under false pretenses. Thye know it, I know it. They and that propaganda machine continue to pump out the misinformation all the time. About how you're all so great, and doing such a great thing for SCW, and how this is the best thing going today, and everyone should embrace you.

It's funny, it only seems that all is well as long as they have everything and others have nothing. As long as they have all the power, everything is just great, isn't it? It's another reason why I'm coming after those belts. Because everything has to be perfect for them, and right now, everything is incomplete. They have a lot, but they have a lot more to lose, and beating them stops yet another threat from the world, be it SCW or the rest of the population. It's just me, doing my job.

But Team Eric want to believe that they are good. Just so long as they get to shove it down everyone's throats. Well that's not me Ladies, I'm not wired that way. And it's not something I'm prepared to tolerate. It's what makes me do my job. Not that everything was fine before they came into existence. there was still conflict, heroes fighting the good fight, bad guys to overcome. But because Team Eric exists, and because you're all in it, my success in unacceptable to you.  You're already angry because I can beat you, now because you have everything, you seek to destroy me. In order to fit in with what you want, you need to beat me. Because they've changed the way that this company works.

But it doesn't matter really, does it? The faces and names could be different. The goals are always the same: Domination, ruling with an iron fist, making those weaker suffer. And the result would still be the same for me. I would stand against it. I stand against all injustice. And it's not because I wear a costume. It's not because I wear a mask or fight monsters. It's not because I need to play hero every time.

It's because it's the right thing to do. And I will always fight for that cause. It's what a good person would do.

There's nothing good, or just, or right about any of my opponents, or anything that Team Eric stands for. Nothing redeeming about subjugating everyone to their shtick every five minutes. Nothing about them will make anything better for anyone.

Why did I join the fight against Team Eric? Because they are an evil entity. And the worst kind because they come under the guise of good. With false good intentions. So here I stand, once again.

And when Team Eric is gone, when I take them out, and my opponents are once again on the wrong side of history, maybe they'll understand. You're choices have consequences too Ladies, not just mine. I know what awaits me. I know that it will be a long, hard fought battle, I never expected it to be easy. It's what I do. It's what I stand for. I live to fight those who choose to pick on the weak, and bully those they don't like.

And I don't need a costume to do it.

The symbol I represent with that costume is only the surface of me as a person. There's more to me than that. Just like I believe there is more to you all than a bunch of self-righteous, hypocritical, lying, whiny little girls. Maybe. But me, the obstacles I overcome have molded me and made me who I am today.

Case in point this cage match. You desperate for domination, come at us with everything you have. All your hate, rage, jealousy, hypocrisy, cruelness, and false bravado. You come to take this company as if it was yours?  You come for destruction, you come for victory?

I have only justice.

[ At Murray's Lab, Murray and Roxi search for anything related to the Formula. ]

Dr. Murray – I think that’s all of it.

Roxi – We’ve already been here too long as it is.

Dr. Murray – I know, but I must be sure.

Roxi – How did you come up with that formula anyway?

Dr. Murray – It was a way to attempt to pay off my debts. I started researching this back in 2004. Harold was part of the initial Iraq invasion surge. He lost the use of his legs after a car bomb went off. I tried to help him.

Roxi – He mentioned that.

Dr. Murray – I really tried to come up with a formula to give him the use of his legs back.  It turned out he was planning on selling the formula to the Pentagon. “Make sure no one else loses their legs.” This formula, if perfected, could possibly make it so the Military truly is the strongest in the world.

Roxi – Somehow I doubt that’s what Peterson wants with it.

Dr. Murray – I see that now. I think I have everything, let’s go.

Roxi – Music to my ears Doc.

[  They turn to leave. Roxi noticibly breathes a sigh a relief.   ]

Roxi – That was –

[  The door to the lab is suddenly blown off. From the smoke
stands a figure of average size, and weight.  ]

Me and my big mouth.

Dr. Murray – My god…Hammer!

Hammer – Dr. Murray I presume.

Roxi – Hammer huh? Like MC Hammer?

Hammer – Ah, and you must be Lady Bedlam.

Roxi – Pretty sharp for a guy named Hammer.

Hammer – *chuckles* The boss said you were amusing.

Roxi – *Gasp* Really? Well, I’ve got some new material if you have the time…

Hammer – Sadly, I don’t. I’m going to
need to borrow the Doctor.

Roxi – Yeah, I’m afraid he’s a little busy.

Hammer – I think he’ll make time.

Roxi – I don’t think so.

[ Roxi lunges forward and delivers a flying kick that sends Hammer back through the door. She turns to motion of Dr. Murray, but in an instant, Hammer is back up.  ]

He just shook that off like nothing happened!

Roxi –  What the?

Hammer – I’m shocked by your hostility, Lady Bedlam. I will only ask one more time.

Roxi – And I’m gonna answer the same.

Hammer –  Very well.

[ Another flying kick only stumbles Hammer back a few steps, but Roxi throws a few punches which again send Hammer flying. But, he’s only down for an instant and then gets up, dusting himself off.  ]

What is this guy made of?

Roxi – That’s a neat trick.

Hammer – I know.

[  Roxi pulls out her staff and assumes a fighting stance. Hammer simply walks forward into her, she strikes with solid shots, but then now only slightly stagger Hammer. A spinning shot knocks him down, but he’s up even faster now.    ]

What?

Roxi – You’re just a glutton for punishment aren’t you?

Hammer – Yes. Yes I am.

[ Roxi swings again with her staff, but Hammer simply catches it, and tosses it aside. Roxi throws a kick, but it’s caught, and Hammer trips her up and she falls. She scrambles away to create distance, and then throws a punch which Hammer takes, and stares at her. It had little to no effect. ]

Hammer – I guess I should explain, eh?

[ He knees her in the ribs, and she drops like a rock, clutching her sides.]

Hammer – I guess I should explain, eh?

[ He knees her in the ribs, and she drops like a rock, clutching her sides.]

Hammer – I guess I should explain, eh? I have a gift.

[ A light kick sends Roxi flying several feet across the ground.]

Hammer – I can absorb energy, and then add it to my own natural ability.

[ Roxi slowly get to her feet, He kicks her in the stomach, before punching her in the face.]

Hammer – You, with every blow, have made me stronger.

[Another  Punch.]

Hammer – Faster.

[ And another… ]

Hammer – And tougher.

[A final punch sends her backward, and onto the ground.]
Hammer – For that, I thank you.

[ Doctor Murray finally attempts to escape, but Hammer flashes a pistol at him. ]

Hammer – No so fast, Doctor.

[ He smirks at Murray, Who stops in his tracks.]

Hammer – As I said, Mr. Peterson has use for you.

Dr. Murray – Please, Hammer. Harold is insane.

Hammer – On the contrary, He’s very much a genius He wants to make the world safer. He only needs you to help achieve that dream.

Dr. Murray – Never!

Hammer – Dr. Murray, do not make this hard on yourself. You see what happened to your little girlfriend here.

[ Hammer reaches down and grabs Roxi’s limp arm and holds her entire bodyweight up with one arm.. ]

Hammer – I could end her right now, but I get a bonus for bringing her back alive. Now, shall we Doctor?

[ He motions with the pistol and Dr. Murray is forced to comply]

Hammer – Hammer here, I’ve got Murray, and your old Friend.

<HR>

I think about many things while unconscious.  This huge match is one of them. Also How did I get myself into this mess. And if the guild was ever going to save me. I had to admit I was in over my head. Hammer just wiped the floor with me. I am no match for him physically. Just like I can’t try to do against all four other girls.  I think I can use speed against them. But against Hammer? How can I beat an opponent without being able to hurt him? …And who is calling my name?

[ Roxi’s head rolls to the side as she starts to come back around. Beneath her mask, her eyes roll back into her head as she struggles staying conscious. Dr. Murray has been attempting to wake her for some time now, his voice a mild shout.  Finally, she starts to come out of it. ]

Dr. Murray – Good. You’re awake.

Roxi – …ugh…What?...What happened?

Dr. Murray – Hammer.

Roxi – …Yeah, I feel like I got hit with one.

Dr. Murray – You’ve got to get it together.

Roxi – Where…where are we?

Dr. Murray – Another lab, set up by Harold.

Roxi – …Wondeful.

Dr. Murray – He’s forcing me to help him.

Roxi – …Well…how far along are you?

Dr. Murray – It will take some time, but in the meantime, you’ve got to break out of those restraints.

Roxi – …Yeah, get right on that.

Dr. Murray – I…I have something, but I’m not sure  you want it.

Roxi – …Unless it’s an asprin.

Dr. Murray – I managed to steal two imperfect serums. The effects will be temporary, but it might help. Unless…it kills you.

Roxi – …Great.

Dr. Murray – I’m not sure of its effects on someone who has already had a dose.

Roxi – …I don’t think we have a choice.

Dr. Murray – Here.

[ He puts the two vials in her belt  pouch ]

Roxi – Thanks.

Dr. Murray – Please…you’ve got to hurry.

[ The door opens and Hammer struts in..]

Hammer – Dr. Murray, Mr. Peterson is ready for you…

[ He notices Roxi is awake. ]

Hammer – Ah, so you’ve finally regained consciousness.  I was beginning to think I killed you.

Roxi – When I get out of here…

Hammer – Oh, making threats now?  Cute. Please, do tell me what you’re going to do to me.

Roxi – Trust me, it won’t be pretty.

Hammer – Hahahaha. You can do nothing. And even if you were to free yourself, I’ll beat you into submission.

Roxi – What do you want?

Harold - Ah, I'm glad you asked.

[ Harold Peterson come in in his electric wheelchair. ]

Roxi – Harold Peterson.

Harold - Lady Bedlam. It’s a shame we keep meeting like that.

Roxi – I just thought you had a  thing for bondage.

Harold - Not really. But it should keep you from going anywhere, until my work is complete.

Roxi – Oh, then what?

Harold - I’m going to make myself able to walk again. It’ll a miracle of modern science. This new formula will make me stronger, faster, bigger, than ever before. My abilities will be super-human. And I will test them…on you.

Roxi – Aww, how nice. Thinking of me.

Harold - And once I destroy you, I will send your body back to the guild in pieces.

Roxi – You sure you’re not into the kinky stuff?

Harold - Shut up. Come, Dr. Murray.

Dr. Murray – Think about what you’re doing Harold.

Harold - I have. I will walk again!

Dr. Murray – Please!

 Harold - Let’s go!

Dr. Murray – No!

[ Without warning, Murray breaks away and rushes to Roxi, lifting her mask and kissing her on the lips! Hammer pulls him away as Murray slides her mask back down. ]

Harold - How touching. She can’t save you, she won’t even be able to save herself.

[ Murray is led out the door, and it’s slammed shut. ]

He…he..he got me the key! I’ll be out of this in no time. Thank you Dr. Murray.

[ Roxi takes in her surrounds before spitting the key out of her mouth and onto the ground. She wiggles over and begins uncuffing  herself. After  a moment, she’s free. She undoes her leg shackles as well before getting up. ]

Now, I gotta get out of here.

[ Roxi takes a step forward but then drops to a knee in pain. ]

Ah! Ow! Still smarting from that beating. I’m no good to anybody like this…

[ She slowly stands and looks down at her belt with the two temp serums in it.  ]

Well, either it kills you or it helps you…Great, another gamble.

[ Roxi  stares at the door in front on her.. she charges it, and kicks it, and it holds.]

Why can’t my lottery odds be this good?

[She stares at the pouch again... ]

Dammit.

Harold - How much longer Dr. Murray?

Dr. Murray – Harold, I’m going as fast as I can!

[ Dr. Murray stands at a computer, looking at schematics.]

Harold - Hurry it up! I want to walk again.

Dr. Murray – I can’t think with you interrupting me!

[ Dr. Murray punches some numbers in, and the formula begins
a process.]

Dr. Murray – There, it’s done. When that reaction finishes…you’ll have what you need.

Harold - Not quite Lyle, old friend.

Dr. Murray – What now?

[Peterson begins rolling towards Dr. Murray.]

Harold - I’m going to need you to mass produce that formula, I want an army of super-soliders!

Dr. Murray – What?

[Peterson produces a syringe from his wheelchair.]

Harold - Perhaps some sleep will help you realize the err of your ways?

Dr. Murray – Keep away from me!

[Hammer grabs Dr. Murray and holds him in place….then..]

 Harold - OW!

Hammer – What?

[ Roxi emerges from the shadows, having launched a shuriken at Peterson, making him drop the syringe.]

Hammer – Lady Bedlam?

Roxi – Now, let’s try this again!

Harold - Get her you fool!

Hammer – With pleasure.

Roxi – Bring it on!

[Hammer charges Roxi, but she avoids the punch, she flips through the air, and lands behind him. She taps him on the shoulder and he swings wildly, she ducks and backflips away. When she lands, she notices the syringe on the ground, she picks it up, holding it behind her back before placing it in a pouch..]

Roxi – You know what, This is pointless. It’s obvious I can’t beat you physically Hammer. I’m no match for you.

[Hammer walks over to her. They’re face to face.]

Roxi – I’m not going to fight you. You’re bigger, stronger, faster…

Hammer – Good.

[Hammer grabs her around the throat and lifts her off the
ground ]

Roxi –  *Gag*

Hammer – I’m going to enjoy killing you.

[ Roxi fumbles around for the styringe…]

Roxi – You…look….tired…

Hammer – What?

[ Roxi jabs the syringe into the neck of Hammer, he releases her, and collapses to the ground.]

Roxi – Sweet dreams.

Hammer – You…bitch!

[Hammer slumps over, and it out. Roxi looks around

Roxi – Dr. Murray?

Dr. Murray – Here!

Roxi – Where’s Peterson?

Dr. Murray – He’s gone.

Roxi – Then we’ve got to get out of here!

Dr. Murray – I- OOOOW!

[Dr. Murray is knocked aside by…The now standing Harold Peterson..

 Harold - Going so soon?

Roxi – Peterson!

 Harold - Now…let’s finish this!

Roxi – Oh hell.

[ In a flash, Roxi is knocked back by a shoulder block from Peterson. He lifts her up and throws her into the computer equipment and she bounces off onto the ground. ]

Harold - Now, I’m going to kill you!

Roxi – Ow!

[ Peterson looks around as things are exploding. ]

Harold - What have you done?!

Roxi – Me? You’re the one throwing people
around!

Harold - No! You’ve ruined everything!

Roxi – Force of habit.

 Harold - GWAAAAA!

[ Peterson charges, but then…a powerful blue aura engulfs the whole area. Both Peterson and Roxi look around… ]

Harold - What are you doing?

Roxi – Hey, don’t look at me…

[ Peterson, Roxi, Dr. Murray and the unconscious Hammer are liften out of the building, and onto a large platform. Where hundreds of Guild agents are waiting ]

Wow, never thought I’d be so glad to see the Guild

Lady Victory By order of the Guild, stand
down.

[ Peterson smirks…

Harold - What are you going to do about it? I can destroy all of you now! Then I will GHAAA! What? What’s….GHAAAA!

[ Peterson begins convulsing, then he crumbles to the ground… ]

 Harold - My…My legs…Murray! You tricked me!

Lady Victory Arrest him!

<HR>

[ Once all that is over, Roxi and Dr. Murray are speaking again. ]

Roxi – Well Doc, I guess you’ll be safe from now on.

Dr. Murray – I want to thank you, and the Guild, for everything you did. Because of your efforts,  Harold will get the help he really needs.

Roxi – By the way…what did you do?

Dr. Murray – I simply made the serum last longer than he would have expected. It’s worn off now, and he won’t get his hands on any more, the lab’s data is also erased.

Roxi – Wow, Doc, you’re on top of it.

Dr. Murray – I try…

Roxi – Well…I guess I should thank you for
saving my life too. Without you’re help, I may be dead right now.

Dr. Murray – You did just the same for me.

Roxi – I didn’t kiss you.

Dr. Murray – True.

Roxi – Although…

[ She pulls Murray in, lifts up her mask and kisses him on the cheek. ]

Roxi – Gotta run, Doc…

Dr. Murray – Good-bye Lady Bedlam...

[ She turns to leave ]

Roxi – By the way, you’re a good kisser Doc.

<HR>

[ And after a long day of crime-fighting, Roxi retreats to her favorite spot, with her favorite gargoyle. ]

Roxi – You know, Herman, sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. But then I have nights like tonight, and everything is suddenly all worth it. I saved a good Doctor, I beat the bad guys, saved the day, and I'm not even in trouble with the Guild over it!

[ She puts her arm around the statue. ]

Roxi – I'd like to think I made a difference today. But now, I gotta move on, new challenges, new dangers, new excitement. You know The Fallen or Misty is probably going to try to hurt me really bad, try to cement their legacy by beating me. I move on from on hot head to another. It's just my luck Herman.

[ She stares at the statue, as if listening to it. ]

Roxi – I know, the steadiest man in my life isn't real, and the rest are hotheads. I just don't know what to do sometimes. It's like everyone around me is getting...hot under the collar?

[ She looks at Herman, as if waiting for a response to her incredibly corny joke. ]

Roxi – Another reason I love you Herman, you laugh at all my jokes! Seriously though, I'm a little worried about this match, but not too much. It'll be a handful for sure, but nothing I can't handle. I think it's high time I actually got something for my efforts in SCW. A tag title sounds like a good start doesn't it?  I thought so. Another reason I like you, you agree with me. None the less, I gotta be ready for anything Misty and the others throws at me.

[ She stares out at the city... ]

Roxi – You know, Herman, I owe that doctor a lot. Without him, I might have died today. But then again, this serum might have killed me just as easily. It's all because of what was at stake that I even took that risk. I'm pretty lucky. But as the song says, you gotta know when hold 'em. See ya around Herman.

[ She skips away, before firing off her grappling hook. ]

Of course, that song also had a booze stealing bum. A lesson taught, sure, but damn...all the whiskey and a cigarette too.

Meh, It's time to move on, Time to take more risks, and At Hostile Takeover...I'm feeling lucky...time to go all in!
