Getting away from it all
« on: December 19, 2012, 04:04:54 PM »
 Monday 17th December

Shock and horror from last night. Eight month reign and it's gone, the tag titles are gone. Waking up in some hotel room in California last night before getting this flight home in the early hours, was not the best feeling in the world to wake up to. I woke up alone on every level possible. I had no Odette, I had to tag team title to greet me. I saw Synn this morning, told me he hadn't slept a lot. Despayre wouldn't sleep. He never understood how we don't have the titles anymore when we never got pinned, when we never lost them. I don't think there's enough coffee in the world for Synn to keep his eyes open today. Maybe I should have done more to keep them, maybe I should have just.... well I don't know. Kain and Lucian will make good champions, and I'm not taking away the credit they deserve, but I'm in a place right now I'm not used to.

"Hey!" Rage's gruff voice is heard yelling.

I look around, my eyes adjusting to focus on Rage. I sit in the passenger seat of Rage's "Batmobile" as he drives through the streets of Nevada, taking a road that leads to the less populated countryside.

"You haven't said a word since we left the airport" Rage tells me.

"I know" I reply softly "Sorry"

Rage has offered to give me a ride home. The big fella does have a heart after all maybe. I think he see how I felt losing last night as stepped up as a more experienced member of the Sins. Synn had his hands full with Despayre, Shane wasn't around, but did meet Synn at the airport to drive the tired mentor and his son home. I planned on just getting a taxi home, grabbing my bag and Odette and getting back on a plane. Rage offered to give me a lift home. I could tell by the way he looked that he was gonna throw some pearls of wisdom my way. He's been around a lot longer than me, he's lost titles. I think the thing is Rage can relate to me right now. We've both lost tag and heavyweight titles

"I thought I was moody when I lose, but you're a miserable bitch" Rage informs me, no emotion in his voice.

Great wisdom there buddy!

"So you lost" Rage reminds me "Big fucking deal. "One door closes, and all that bullshit"

Rage was probably right. We had them for a long time and maybe a new challenge was needed, but balls to that! I'm the sin of fucking greed! I want everything and I want it now. They were our tag team titles, and they should have stayed with us.

"Synn mentioned you were considering NWA gold" Rage starts "So there's your door opening"

He had a point, but I don't wanna admit that. If I admit that, he'll question everything I ever said he was wrong with and try to get me to admit he's right more often. I'm still greed. Deep down in my core, no matter how much I've changed lately, I'm still greed. I wanted SCW and NWA tag titles. Fuck giving opportunity to others, this should be all mine

"This won't be the last time you lose something big" Rage continues "You just need to come back and smash some bastards face in, like I'm gonna do to Blade at the supercard"

Coming back is harder than it seems when you hold the gold so long. So I didn't lose, but I no longer have the tag titles anymore, it feels like a loss. Feels like I lost.

Rage turns the car off, on to a dirt road, leading to a house in the distance.

"Just stop being a silent whingy bitch and go to where ever the hell you're going and forget about this shit" Rage tells me firmly.

I do need to forget about this, for the next few days, I was going to a place that is meant to be full of joy and happiness, not miserable and moping. I should be smiling and happy. If not for me, but for the woman who's gonna be holding my hand on this one.

"You're probably right" I mumble out.

Rage brings the car to a sudden halt and looks at me.

"Say that again" Rage says with a smile creeping on to his face.

Shit!

"I said you're probably right" I mumble out again.

"That's what I thought you said" Rage says with a wider smile.

Rage starts the car again and drives on. Rage stops outside my house.

"You wanna come in for anything?" I ask Rage

"Nah" He replies "Better things to do than hang around your miserable self"

Sin Of Wrath, always angry and he calls me miserable. Maybe he thinks I'm gonna steal his thunder in the miserable stakes

I open the car door, slowly stepping out of the car and pulling a bag from where my feet are.

"Thanks for the ride" I say to Rage

"Yeah, yeah" Rage replies, never one to accept compliments or thanks "Have a good trip."

"I will, I'll bring you back a reindeer" I reply

"Don't bother" Rage says gruffly "That thing will probably bite me too"

I smile, my first since the refs hand landed for the third time, and shut the car door. I turn to the front door of the house as Rage pulls away, to see Odette standing there. I step towards the door, but Odette moves towards me, wrapping her arms around my neck and holding me tightly.

"I'm sorry baby" she whispers in my ear.

"Don't be, it happens, I'm ok" I lied

"You'll get them back" She whispers again

It's weird but I can feel how disappointed she is. Not in me but disappointed for me.

"Don't worry about it for now" I tell her, trying to put on my most confident voice "Let's just grab the bags, call a taxi and get to the airport"

"Are you gonna tell me where we're going?" Odette asks

"Nope" I say with a half hearted smile.

Odette takes my hand and leads me back inside the house

Later that day

The sound of a plane engine is roaring as the camera focuses on myself sitting next to Odette. Odette looks at me sternly.

"We're now sitting on a plane, and you're still not telling me where we're going?"

I smile at the frustrated looking Aussie

"Nope" I reply

"I must have looked stupid walking through an airport blindfolded" Odette says "I bet everyone was looking at me"

"Baby" I start "Everyone looks at you when you're not walking through places blindfolded. Something to do with being gorgeous and popular"

Odette smiles at me. Her eyes shining bright.

"Can I at least have a clue?" Odette asks with pleading eyes.

"Kitilla" I reply

Odette looks confused

"Kitilla?" Odette asks

I nod and Odette reaches in to her pocket, pulling out an iPhone. I reach across and take the phone from her hand and kiss her on the nose.

"Nice try" I reply, putting the phone in my pocket

Odette looks at me with a pout.

"Don't worry" I say with a smile "We'll be there in about 12 hours"

Odette lowers her eyebrows as she looks at me strangely. She rests her head on my shoulders as the scene fades.

Tuesday 18th December - Kitilla Airport

As we stand outside the airport, Odette looks at me. Snow fills the air, yet not falling on the ground yet. A good snow fall from hours before rests on the ground like a thick white sheet. Odette continues to look at me.

"Gonna tell me where we are now?" She asks me

"We are in Northern Finland" I tell a curious looking Odette "More to the point, we're in Lapland."

Odette's eyes widen and a smile crosses her face.

"You bought me to Lapland?" Odette says surprised

"Well it is the season" I reply with a wink.

"Do we need to get a taxi?" Odette asks, gripping her bag by the handle and lifting it up.

"It's right there" I say with a point.

"Are you shitting me!?" Odette says surprised

Her eyes look in the direction Gabriel pointed, to show huskies attached to a sleigh carriage. Odette smiles at the dogs. Odette reaches into her pocket, pulling out a digital camera, and snapping a picture.

"Why would we need a sleigh?" She asks

"Well, not many roads go up to the cabin in the mountains" I inform my girlfriend. "Shall we?"

I nod towards the sleigh and pick up my bag from the floor. Taking Odette by the hand, leading her towards the sleigh.

A little while later, we join us on the sledge. Odette leans on my shoulder, as I wrap an arm around the cold Aussie. In the distance, a wooden cabin appears amongst the crisp white snow. The sleigh gets closer and stops outside.

I step off, grabbing my bag and Odette's, before dropping them in the snow. Putting my hands up quickly and lifting Odette down. Odette's feet rests on the snow as I hand the driver (Is that the right term?) money.

"See you tomorrow" I tell the driver.

He nods at me as I pick up the bags and look at Odette.

"What's going on tomorrow?" She asks

"Guess you'll have to wait and see" I reply with a wink.

Odette slowly shakes her head at me.

"Shall we?" I say pointing towards the door of the cabin "Keys in my back pocket"

Odette reaches in my back pocket, fishing out the keys and I quickly pick up both bags. Odette walks through the snow, crunching under her feet as she walks forward, stepping slowly and up on the small steps leading towards the door. She slides the key in the lock and opens the door. Slowly stepping inside and looking at what's around her. I follow her in the door.

I was gonna describe it, but hey, a picture says a thousand words, right?

"Oh wow!" Odette says, turning towards me.

I drop the back at the side of me as Odette wraps her arms around me and hugs me tightly, her face bright with excitement.

"Thank you" Odette says with a smile on her face...

Wednesday 19th December

Morning time at the cabin, the sun peeks up over the snowy mountains, yet a chill bites in the air. I stand outside leaning on a wooden post. I watch my breath coming out of my nose as I exhale. The door behind me opens and I turn around to see a wrapped up Odette Ryder walking through the door. Odette is wearing a thick sweater and wool hat. I open my arms and Odette quickly runs to me, wrapping her arms around me. Odette huddles close, the cold nipping at her skin. Being used to the heat of Australia and Vegas, Odette shivers against me. I lean down, brushing my lips against hers and press, kissing Odette softly. I press my lips tightly against hers, my hands moving down her body and on to her hips, pulling her close to me. I pull away and smile at Odette.

"Even when you're covered up, you look amazing" I tell her

Odette smiles at me

"So what's the plan for today?" Odette says stroking my face.

"We're going to see someone" I tell Odette

Odette looks at me curious as the husky pulled sleigh appears in the distance.

"There's our ride babe" I say with a wink.

The sleigh gets closer and I take Odette by the hand, but Odette stops in her tracks and pulls me close to her.

"This is amazing" She says

"You're worth it" I reply

The sleigh stops outside the cabin....

An hour later

Another cabin is seen with bright flashing lights. The sleigh pulls to a stop next a sign that says "Santa's village". Odette stares at me as I jump off the sleigh, putting my hand up and taking hers, helping her off the sleigh. We walk in to Santa's village, around a crowd of others. Odette smiles towards me, slowly shaking her head.

"You're a big kid, aren't ya?" her Aussie accent fills the air

"Maybe just a little" I reply as we walk through the entrance area and look around this real winter wonderland.

Hand in hand, we look around at what is before us. My eyes and attention instantly turns to a reindeer pen. I quickly lead Odette over to the pen and move through the crowd. Odette stands at the front and I move behind her, wrapping my arms around her. The reindeers gather around the people, stroking them on the head. My animal loving girlfriend reaches out, stroking a reindeer on it's head as it comes close. I kiss Odette on the cheek as she smiles. Odette turns around and looks at looks at me.

"Can we get one of these?" Odette asks

I shake my head rapidly

"Why not?" Odette says with a pout. "We could keep it in the garden"

"I think Vegas is a little too hot for them babe" I reply.

Odette pouts at me but a look of understanding crosses her face.

"How about a husky?" She asks.

"Much more realistic" I reply

A bright smile covers her face.

"You know Santa's here" I quickly say "You should go ask him for something you want"

Odette shakes her head

"I already have everything I want" Odette replies, her hand cupping my neck.

A smile breaks across my face as the camera leaves us to look around the village

A roaring fireplace is seen as darkness is seen through the window. The sound of champagne glasses clinking together echoes shortly around the room. The camera focuses on me and Odette sitting before the fireplace, orange flames cracking in front of us. I sip on the bubbly liquid before placing the glass next to me. I wrap my arms around Odette and look at the fire as she turns her head and kisses me on the cheek. The other whelming sense of peace and quiet rolls thought the room. Odette smiles, for the first time in a long time, truly relaxed. She breaks the silence

"Can we just stay here forever?" She asks me.

"You'd go crazy out here with all this snow" I reply with a smile.

"We can stay here, in front of the fire forever" She says gripping my leg.

"We can stay here till Saturday morning, then we gotta go back. We gotta go to work" I tell Odette, but she pouts

"Can't we just tell them that we're stuck in the snow and can't go back?" Odette replies with her pout still on her lips.

I shake my head

"No" I reply "But we can just enjoy this time away, than we can go back to work, work that one show and enjoy our first Christmas together"

I run my hand down her arm and slide my fingers between hers, and she leans back on my chest.

"Two thousand and thirteen, is gonna be our year" I tell her

"What makes you think that?" She replies

"Because I'm gonna get gold, you're gonna get that Bombshell title back and me and you..." I pause for a second "Well me and you are gonna be more in love than ever."

Odette runs her fingers from her free hand, through the back of my hair

"Trust me, it will be the best year of our lives" I say confidently.

I reach in to my pocket and pull out a little familiar blue velvet box.

"Promise?" Odette asks

"Promise" I reply

Well, you're all gonna have to leave us there, because well, don't want your eyes on everything. I'm sure you're wondering if this was the perfect time to ask the big question. Well you can keep wondering and I will sit here smirking. Anyway, we're going to do stuff that you're not allowed to see, but as this is my last promo of 2012, Merry Christmas from myself, my lovely girlfriend Odette and the Seven Deadly Sins... well those of us that like this holiday.... yes, Synn is a Grinch, and Rage is... well Rage, he don't like anything. Anyway, have a good one and we'll see you on Climax Control
