Fax machine sounds can be heard as a desk is seen. In profile, the silhouette of a woman can be seen shuffling papers before turning to look at the camera as a light is switched on with a clap. The spotlight hits on Sam Marlowe, a pair of dark glasses rimming her eyes with slight sparkles at the corners of the lenses. Dark pink lips curl into a smile as a hand moves to brush a stray curl behind her ear. Sam has a button-down shirt on, a silky tie knotted loosely just below the collar. The desk hides the rest of her outfit as she sets the papers down and looks directly into the camera that is focuses at her.
“I bet you are expecting me to do something outrageous like a news cast to talk about my match this week. Well, I hate to disappoint you. I am not here to do something like that. I am here because this is where I want to talk to my opponent for this week and where I am dealing with different aspects of work for both Sin City Wrestling and Daddy’s company,” offers Sam as she looks down at the papers in front of her. “Firstly, Daddy’s company is where I am part of the board of directors…a very junior position for sure but still one I take seriously. Given that Cyn and I are the only people that will inherit this company, I want to make sure that I am ready when that will happen.”
Sam picks up a small golden pen and then with a soft touch, she runs the pen across the bottom of one of the sheets and then puts it to the side. She looks at the next sheet and holds it up to reveal to the camera that it is the card for the upcoming Climax Control where she will be facing Lucy Seraphina in a one on one match.
“Look at this, the card for Sunday where I am facing Lucy Seraphina and I have to tell you that I am looking forward to it. I mean the last time I faced her was in a gauntlet match that saw her eliminated early and where I almost went all the way. To say that she and I were able to make it the distance together didn’t happen is an understatement but I have to say that I have the utmost respect for Lucy. I mean she has made a comeback and is doing well for herself. And she definitely is someone that if you step into the ring with, she will make you realize that she is someone you should not take lightly,” says Sam with a half nod in the direction of the camera.
“I know that stepping into the ring with Lucy this week is going to take all my focus because she deserves it. And I am not going to let her down when it comes to overestimating my ability to give her a match to remember. See, Lucy has something going for her and that is she is supernaturally capable to beat anyone. I can’t forget that,” muses the redhead as she looks down at the paper again, the pen in her hand spinning dizzily around her fingers as if by magic. “I am betting that she is going to be ready for anything and so too am I.”
Once more Sam’s hand brushes a curl back then moves to loosen the knot of the tie, tugging at it as if it were choking her.
“Lucy, I want you to know that our match is going to be something that I look forward to. See, this isn’t going to be about a title or contendership. This is going to be you and me in the ring one on one and may the best woman of the night win. And I am not going to try and gaslight you by telling you that I am going to win because that is just what is going to happen. I don’t know what will be happening when that bell rings and the dust settles. I do know one thing however. I am going to be bringing the fight to you with every fiber of my being and when I do, it means that it is all going to be left in the ring. I am bringing respect to the fight and when it is over, win or lose, I will still respect you. But that doesn’t mean that I am going to be fighting for the win,” vows Sam.
“We are the same Lucy, both of us with something to prove. You to cement your return with putting you in line for the win. Me to shut the naysayers’ mouths when they say that I don’t have what it takes to still be wrestling in Sin City Wrestling anymore. I don’t think that I am at the end of my rope when it comes to wrestling in the six sided ring,” says Sam. “What that means is that sadly I am going to have to prove it by beating you this week on Climax Control.”
Looking down, Sam notes that she had been doodling as she spoke. Curliques and doodles cover the sheet which she lifts up to show the camera. But one thing is seen as comic font highlights the match between Sam and Lucy with ‘Match of the Night’ beside it.
“I know we aren’t in the main event Lucy but if you ask me, I definitely would say that between the two of us, we will make our match the match of the night. I am looking forward to it and I hope you are too,” says Sam before putting the sheet of paper on the small pile to the side. Then she picks up another set of papers and the smile on her lips spreads.
“This…this is the one thing that I am looking forward to more than anything else. This right here is something that I need to do to finally put something to rest. See, I have some unfinished business which I needed to deal with and this contract right here is what will see that business finished once and for all. I am sure that when I finally let this cat out of the bag, there is going to be some really bad feelings that will be rising to the surface but you have to know…this is something that I need to clear up, if only for my own knowledge,” muses Sam as she sets the paper on the desk and then picks the pen up once more.
“By signing this, I am definitely going to make someone really angry and I am so hoping that she will be,” taunts Sam before putting pen to paper. Signing her name, she picks up the paper and flashes the signature at the camera before letting the cover sheet fall down to show that it is a contract. Sam turns the paper and then brings it against her chest, hugging it and the secret of the opponent to her chest.
The opening of a door draws Sam’s attention from the camera. Colton leans into the room and asks what Sam is up to. Blushing, Sam points to the camera. “Cutting a promo Camo…figured that I should talk about my match you know.”
“Ahhh,” replies Colton. “Was just coming to tell you that dinner is ready. Steak and barbeque for two.”
Sam nods and then stands to reveal a pair of dusty rose daisy dukes. She moves around the desk and towards the camera. Looking into it with an extreme close up, she smiles. “I’ll see you Sunday Lucy, and good luck to you that night.”
With that, her hand reaches out as she winks and then hits stop sending the image to black.
