MAX BURKE vs CASEY WILLIAMS

Casey Williams is sitting in the living room of his home in Las Vegas, Nevada, watching his kids play on the floor discussing the fact that Sin City Wrestling is closing its doors.

Casey-I am at a loss for words right now, knowing that a company I worked for for so long is closing its doors after just over 6 years in business.  I was one of the guys who was here at the very beginning, so when I heard that the company was closing, I made sure I got in touch with Christian Underwood and “Hot Stuff” Mark Ward about being booked in the final card of SCW’s existence.  I knew it meant coming out of retirement, but for one last match to honor the men who allowed me a chance to grow in ways I never thought I would do, both as a wrestler and as a person, I wasn’t going to pass it up.

Casey sheds a tear as he thinks about all the great memories he has had in SCW.

Casey-I mean, I did have a great run in SCW.  I started out feuding with Wyatt Peterson, then being found by SCW Hall of Famer Spike Staggs, and being involved in the NXT stable with him, teaming and winning the tag team titles with Jordan “PS” Williams, and then winning the roulette championship on my own after I disassociated myself with NXT.  For me, the highlight of my career was the rivalry I had with Simon Jones.  I know there were no titles at stake in that feud, but just working with someone the caliber of Simon, who brought out my vicious side more than anyone I had ever worked with just helped make me that much better.

Casey smiles after thinking about his feud with Simon Jones.

Casey-One of the only other big rivalry I really enjoyed during my time as a wrestler was against my opponent at Full Circle, Max Burke, even though it was a short lived rivalry.  There was just something about working with Max that, like working with Simon, made me a better competitor, and when I heard he wanted one last match against me from Mark when I discussed my interest on being included on the last SCW card, naturally I agreed to it without hesitation.  After I retired from in ring competition, I ran my own wrestling school for a while to earn some more cash, and managed Andrew Garcia and Ivan Darrell, better known as Dying Breed, for a while until I got completely burned out with the wrestling industry.  Once I stopped managing the duo, I focused on raising my kids until now.

Casey gets up and goes into the kitchen as the scene fades to black.

Casey is seen getting ready to go get dinner from the Carnevino at Palazzo restaurant located in Las Vegas, host city of Full Circle.  He sits in his car and before he turns the car on, he calls out his opponent for the show, former rival Max Burke.

Casey-Max, we have such a rich history with each other, one that doesn’t really need explaining.  Nonetheless, it will be fun to get back inside the 6-sided ring one last time with someone like you, opposed to someone new.  We already have that familiarity with each other, so we know what each others limitations are, and we know that we can tear the roof off the joint and be the show stealers that we definitely are. Just know that I am willing to do whatever it takes to destroy you, and prove to the world how good SCW can really be, especially when they got guys like us, both of whom are retired wrestlers, are still capable of doing inside a ring, and that we won’t let nothing stop us from showcasing our immense talent.

Casey cackles, starts the car and drives to the restaurant as the scene fades to black.

A dark, cold room with cement floors, and walls. It’s dark. It’s dark except a single overhead spotlight that reveals a tattered ring in the center of the room. Simple. Not flashy. Black canvas. Black ring skirt. A simple “B” in gold is stamped in the center of the ring. The man emerges from the darkness, and steps into the light. Max Burke, the prodigal son returns.

Max Burke: Sin.

Shadows bounce off his face as the light swings overhead.

Max Burke:Sin City.

His ice blue eyes glint when the light swings by.

Max Burke: ... the end is near.

Max strokes his chin for a moment, before continuing.

Max Burke: The final countdown until the lights dim for the final show in the history of Sin City Wrestling.

A sly smirk creeps onto his face.

Max Burke: Mark Ward, personally called me to give me the news. It took me a moment. An ever slight moment... to ask for a one night contract.

The smirk begins to grow,

Max Burke: I did not hesitate however, when I called my shot.

A cheshire grin is in full effect now. Max chuckles under his breath.

Max Burke: The answer was simple... Casey. When Casey accepted in the middle of the ring it made my night.

Max runs his fingers through his hair. The camera zooms in slowly, focusing on Max’s eyes.

Max Burke: It would not surprise if most people wondered why Casey? The Freight Train Of Pain is a man that I’ve stood across from in the ring. He is a man that I’ve stood next to side by side fighting the good fight of professional wrestling. I’ve helped mentor Casey’s students over the years. What Casey teaches them in strong style, hard nosed fuck you up style... I pass on my ring psychology. I give them my technical knowledge. I bend, and break them mentally, and physically on that mat. I always knew Casey would be the one.

He nods his head, and pauses ever so briefly again.
Max Burke: Casey... on the final night of Sin City Wrestling you step between those ropes against the man that knows you better than you even know yourself. You’re bigger. You’re stronger. Everyone knows that. Everyone knows that you have a mean streak the size of Texas.

Burke lowers his head, calculating his next words.

Max Burke: Something that I have that you do not... knowledge. Yeah, you’re a veteran. You’ve done a ton in this industry. You paved the way for a lot of youngsters to step between these ropes, and chase their dreams. I’ve still forgotten more than you ever learned throughout your years on this god awful planet Casey. Listen to me closely Mr. Williams. This is the end. On this evening; everything ends. No more spotlights. No more fans running in fear. No more adulation. It all ends in less than two weeks. On this night Casey Williams, you step inside the ring against the man that walks away from this beautiful form of sports and entertainment with his arm raised in victory. This is simply a fact. It’s time for Max Burke to end the career once and for all of Casey Williams. Rest in peace Casey. You will be missed.

Casey Williams is walking the streets of Las Vegas, listening to the Five Finger Death Punch greatest hits album “A Decade of Destruction”, thinking about all the good times he has had in this very city, and all the bad times he had to endure in this very same city.  The first song on the album, the first of 2 new songs by the band, entitled “Trouble” fits the scenario and Casey decides to discuss the trials and tribulations he had endured throughout his wrestling career while in SCW, both as an active wrestler and as a manager.

Casey-While I have been known to be a man of destruction and devastation inside the ring, I also know that life comes with its own share of problems.  Like look at my career here in SCW.  I started out great, winning a few titles early on, then I found myself struggling to get a win.  I know that every wrestler goes through that, but it can be very frustrating.  There was a part of me that just wanted to walk away entirely from this business when I hit that aspect of my career, but it seemed like every time I wanted to stay retired, I get lured back in.

Casey sighs as he thinks about all the the negative aspects of his time in SCW and as he sighs, the song on the album changes to the 2nd new track, a cover originally done by The Offspring called “Gone Away”, makes Casey sad, thinking the fact that SCW is closing.

Casey-I remember all the shit I had to deal with as a wrestler, all the mind games that various wrestlers played, like when Matthew Kennedy had my ex-wife, Laura, stalked by one of his buddies, whose name escapes me at the present time, and all the mind games I was able to play on other wrestlers, like when I set Simon Jones’s house on fire.  I guess the fact that the wrestling school I ran burning down was payback for burning Simons house down. Either way, I cannot really complain too much about the run I had in SCW, whether it was being a champion winning wrestler, or managing a championship caliber tag team in Dying Breed.

Casey smiles after thinking about the good times he had in SCW.

Casey-I never was able to win the world title, but the fact that I did have a few shots to compete for it felt good, and the fact that I had a good run for a big man in this business regardless of the elusive world title win means more, and garnering a reaction from the fans, and having meaningful feuds and quality matches meant more to me than how many titles or what titles I won. I know for a fact when I get inside the ring with someone like Max Burke, we are going to tear the house down, and that is all I want, is to tear the house down with a great opponent.

Casey smirks as he continues walking and listening to the all the greatest hits on the album as the scene fades to black.

Casey is seen outside the Gold Coast Casino the site of Full Circle.  He is standing by the door and he calls out his opponent for the show, former rival Max Burke.

Casey-Max, it will be a shame that this will be the last time we will ever do battle with each other, as we both are extremely talented individuals, and both have had success in SCW.  Nonetheless, that will not stop me from kicking it to a higher gear and destroy you as you know I am capable of doing.  You can act all tough and say that I will rest in peace, but in reality, it will be you who will be resting in peace.  There is not a thing you can do that will stop me from achieving one last victory before SCW closes its doors forever, and I will stand tall, knowing that I defeated one of the best to ever lace up boots and enter the ring.

Casey cackles, enters the casino and plans on gambling as the scene fades to black.

BURKE: This Sunday... it’s time.

Max breathes heavily. You can see that he is torn. Max strokes his beard. He runs his finger over his lips. He hesitates for a moment before continuing.

BURKE: This Sunday... Max Burke steps between the ropes for the final time ever.

He bites his bottom lip as he struggles to speak the words he is contemplating. Max sighs.

BURKE: Win... lose... or draw... this is it. Sunday night when I step inside the squared circle against Casey Williams will be the final time I lace up my boots professionally. Honestly, I can’t believe those words just left my body.

Max clears his throat. The camera pans down as it shows ice swirling inside a glass. Max lifts the glass to his lips, and takes a sip of the bourbon inside.

BURKE: This Sunday night, Casey Williams and I will go out on our shields. Casey is someone I respect. He has accomplished a lot in this business. He is a man that I’ve grown to call brother. We speak daily. This is why it had to be Casey. I have too much respect for Casey to not have the match of our lives on Sunday night. We are going to destroy each other for you... the fans.  Love me... hate me... (Max winks at the camera) hi Mr. Grayson... people respect what I’ve done for this business. I bring out the best of people in that ring. I’m the first one behind the curtain to congratulate you on a helluva performance. I’ll also be the one to be blunt, and tell you when you dropped the ball. But, I’ll also be the first to show you that guidance... and share my knowledge to help you improve. I’ll always be that guy. That is why people respect me. Hell, people respect the SCW crew for everything we’ve accomplished in such a short period of time. We TOOK over this business. Nobody was as consistent as we were. No one put on the quality from the opening bell to the closing curtain calls that we did. We did this together whether we liked each other, or simply tolerated each other. SCW is our house. SCW is my family.

Max raises his glass to the camera.

BURKE: Here’s to everyone from the boys and girls in the back; to legends that have ridden off into the sunset; to the staff that kept these doors open for all of these glorious years. And here’s to the two men that are the heartbeat, and life blood of Sin City Wrestling... Mark... Christian... take a fuckin’ bow. Cheers to everyone.

Max pours the bourbon back. He proceeds to smashes the glass on the concrete.

BURKE: Sin City Wrestling... Sunday night... we do what we do. We blow the goddamn roof off the arena. We leave it all in the middle of that ring. We light this fucker up like the fourth of July, and burn this sonofabitch to the goddamn ground in a blaze of glory. This is our night! This is our moment! This is it! See you Sunday Casey... be ready son... I’m coming to prove why I am Pro Wrestling’s Pedigree. Born to wrestle... bred to win.
