Book 1: Who am I?
Chapter 6: Even more secrets
~Part 1: The experiment (NP: “Dirty Little Secret” by: All American Rejects)~
Sam watched his wife from the doorway; Mel sat up in their bed rubbing her stomach. At almost 29 weeks she felt that these three were going to be early. When Sam found out that he was going to be a biological Father to a girl and two boys. Mel though looked worried and she turned her head.
Mel: Hi there.
Sam: Princess.
Mel blinked in surprised; she hadn’t heard that in a while. Sam walked over to her and sat on the bed. Mel moved herself slowly to get to him. Sam though beat her to the punch and the two cuddled against each other. She smiled up at him and Sam kissed her forehead.
Mel: What’s wrong Guardian?
This time Sam was shocked that she returned the greeting. Sam with his left hand went into the nightstand and took out a diamond necklace. Mel already knew what this had meant. She lifted her head forward and Sam slipped it on her.
Sam: Princess, you know I’m bi right?
Mel: You never said anything but yes in hindsight Guardian.
Sam let out a loud laugh.
Sam: Are you sure this is what you want?
Melanie: Yes, I’m certain. I’m allowing it you know… I mean you’re allowing my thing.
Sam: Right but I don’t want to pressure you. You’re my wife and I just want to make sure.
Mel kissed him softly.
Mel: Thank you for asking, you know it means a lot to me.
Sam: You’re welcome…I guess we’re just going to make this an experiment. You call the shots though. If you say it stops, it stops alright?
Mel: Ja.
Sam pulled her closer to him. He placed his hand on her stomach and felt one of the children kick. Mel laughed from being tickled by the one.
Sam: When do you think they’ll be here?
Mel: Sooner than the due date. Magi-Blood children are more prone to prematurity.
Sam: Wonder why?
Mel shrugged and Sam smiled, as of late everything has been quiet. It did worry the couple though; usually quietness meant the storm would be coming soon. They still hadn’t found Alexander or Hunter and Sam knew that put his wife on edge.
Mel: I love you.
Sam: Love you too…calm down, your heart’s up.
Mel: You can’t blame me though. I’m worried for Uri and Rachel.
Sam: It’s not your fight right now; you need to-
Wrong words to use; Mel turned around and her eyes turned red.
Mel: Not my fight!? Bullshit this is my fight!
Sam: I didn’t mean it like that! Mel, please calm down.
Mel still wasn’t calming down.
Mel: This is our family! You don’t think that this pregnancy is being a set back!? I’m trying to do what I can but I want to do more!
Sam: It’s not a setback; Mel you need to calm down, I don’t want you going into labor.
Mel doesn’t say anything but she turned to face away from him. Sam rolled his eyes, forgetting that she was still hormonal. Sam turned her back around and kissed her.
Sam: I’m sorry.
Mel: My fault.
Mel yawned.
Sam: Get some sleep.
Mel: I don’t want to…
Sam: That’s an order.
Mel sighed and Sam laid her down like the Doctor had said to. He got next to her and kissed her once more.
Sam: Good night Mel.
Mel: Good night.
~Part 2: Julia’s return (NP: “Tifa’s theme” From Final Fantasy VII )~
Julia: So you pissed Mel off?
Sam sighed and nodded as Julia sat across from him in the dining room. Mel was out with Uri, most likely shopping for some new clothing. Sam had summoned her and she came quickly. Sam looked tired, he couldn’t sleep at all.
Sam: I didn’t mean to.
Julia: You need to be careful an also Sam, did you think about my offer?
Sam: I’ll have to agree to the terms. I want this all to end Jules. I don’t want my wife to fight anymore or my in-laws to feel in pain or fear.
Julia smirked.
Julia: I’m glad you’re agreeing. Honestly you’re doing this for a good reason. Normally people make these deals for selfish ass reasons. Technically demons can’t take Magi-Blood souls like they can mortals. Sorry but I’m not dealing with your wife!
Sam laughed loudly at that,
Sam: I can’t blame you Jules…I gotta question for you.
Julia: Sure what’s up man?
Sam: What’s your story?
Sam watched Julia react to what he asked. He could see that she was very apprehensive towards the question.
Julia: Sam, I was once human myself. I wasn’t a witch or anything like that, so I wasn’t worshipping the devil. What I did though was to help another. I traded myself for my Brother. He had cancer when he was a child…so the deal was, it would be gone and in turn, I’d have twenty years on me. I was only twenty five when I passed.
Sam was in shock at what he heard.
Sam: I’m sorry.
Julia: Don’t be; it was worth it.
Sam: I guess…
Julia: You’re here aren’t you?
Sam didn’t want to talk about it. He looked away from her and Julia could tell that she picked the wrong saying.
Julia: Anyways, summon me in ten days. We’ll start then.
Sam nodded and she faded away. But Sam…Sam wasn’t sure if what he was going to do was the right course.
~Part 3: Luck, Skill, Will (NP: “Fake it” by: Seether)~
Sam sat at the poker table with a smirk on his face. He knew he had the game won without having to do much. Most of the players were either too egotistic or to noobish but Sam; Sam was a vet when it came to poker, in his youth he’d clean people out, he was a card shark after all.
Sam: The myth of King Midas was tragedy of avarice and narrates what happens when true happiness is not recognized. Midas was a man who wished that everything he touched would turn into gold. However, he had not thought that this wish was not actually a blessing, but a curse. His greed invites us to think and realize the consequences that may lead us to become slaves of our own desires. The phrase the Midas touch comes from this myth and is used to say that somebody has a good fortune.
Midas was a king of great fortune who ruled the country of Phrygia, in Asia Minor. He had everything a king could wish for. He lived in luxury in a great castle. He shared his life of abundance with his beautiful daughter. Even though he was very rich, Midas thought that his greatest happiness was provided by gold. His avarice was such that he used to spend his days counting his golden coins! Occasionally he used to cover his body with gold objects, as if he wanted to bath in them. Money was his obsession. One day, Dionyssus, the god of wine and revelry, passed through the kingdom of Midas. One of his companions, a satyr named Silenus, got delayed along the way. Silenus got tired and decided to take a nap in the famous rose gardens surrounding the palace of king Midas. There, he was found by the king, who recognized him instantly and invited him to spend a few days at his palace. After that, Midas took him to Dionyssus. The god of celebration, very grateful to Midas for his kindness, promised Midas to satisfy any wish of him. Midas though for a while and then he said: I hope that everything I touch becomes gold. Dionyssus warned the king to think well about his wish, but Midas was positive. Dionyssus could do nothing else and promised the king that from that following day everything he touched would turn into gold.
The next day, Midas, woke up eager to see if his wish would become true. He extended his arm touching a small table that immediately turned into gold. Midas jumped with happiness! He then touched a chair, the carpet, the door, his bathtub, a table and so he kept on running in his madness all over his palace until he got exhausted and happy at the same time! He sat at the table to have breakfast and took a rose between his hands to smell its fragrance. When he touched it, the rose became gold. I will have to absorb the fragrance without touching the roses, I suppose, he thought in disappointment. Without even thinking, he ate a grape but it also turned into gold! The same happened with a slice of bread and a glass of water. Suddenly, he started to sense fear. Tears filled his eyes and that moment, his beloved daughter entered the room. When Midas hugged her, she turned into a golden statue! Despaired and fearful, he raised his arms and prayed to Dionyssus to take this curse from him.
The god heard Midas and felt sorry for him. He told Midas to go to river Pactolus and wash his hands. Midas did so: he ran to the river and was astonished to see gold flowing from his hands. The ancient Greeks said they had found gold on the banks of the river Pactolus. When he turned home, everything Midas had touched had become normal again. Midas hugged his daughter in full happiness and decided to share his great fortune with his people. From now on, Midas became a better person, generous and grateful for all goods of his life. His people led a prosperous life and when he died, they all mourned for their beloved king.
Sam took a sip from his glass of scotch.
Sam: SCW has our own version of King Midas in JT Midas. Now I do know this man thanks to my wife. A while ago they were in a company together which folded sadly. I know that JT loves to party but he knows how to handle business. But maybe JT has his own curse like King Midas. JT’s curse is that will isn’t not always be on his side. You have luck, you might have skill, but when you lose you'll say that I have the will!
In the wrestling world I have found that you do need the will to win besides luck and skill. JT I want you to ask yourself if you have the will to wrestle or not. I’ve been in the ring for a while now and I know I have it. I enjoy being able to show off my skills, lady luck I know is on my side and my will is stronger than ever. I came to SCW because I wanted to face off with world class athletes. I wanted to shake things up and I sure as hell have.
They call me an enigma, a mysterious figure and to quote the card blurb: “There is something, almost unnatural about Samuel as he looms just on the edge of our vision, but we cannot quite put our finger on it.” Let me explain why they talk about me like that.
I am a Magi-Blood like my wife, like my in-laws and some of my friends. We don’t really like people knowing about our activities even though we have been more…what’s the word? Opened, yes opened about our world. Still people don’t understand it and to me, that’s fine. I’ll let the others try to explain it to everyone.
But I’m not a normal Magi-Blood and only a certain few know about that. So the roster knows that I am someone to watch out for and with good reasoning. Mortals, they fear what they don’t understand and, I don’t use fear to get my point across.
No JT, I use my will to just like I will in our match. I don’t doubt your abilities clearly, since I know you from past experiences. But I am coming into this with confidence. I’m ready to pick up a win and make my family happy. You know you have one hell of a challenge coming into this match. Alex Rush is a good competitor but I’m just much better.
When I go into the match, people beat on me like they do with cards. They know that I can get the job done, they like my ring moves and, they know that they want more of the mystery. I’ll give the fans what they want, I insure you of that and that they want a good fight.
JT, I don’t go out there and cheat. That shit isn’t needed because I know I can win with my own! I’ve known people who cheat, thinking they’d get ahead in life and well…they end up losing in the end of it. So JT, are you going to go out there and give me an honorable fight? I hope you do man…I hope you do. Good luck!
Sam picked up a card and looked at it. A smile played on his face and he couldn’t help but to chuckle.
Sam: Oh and JT one more thing…The Queen of Hearts will never leave me…or should I say the Queen of my heart.
Sam turned the card over to show Mel as the Queen of Hearts.
Fade to Black…
