Another two teams for the 'Oh so close' list
« on: December 04, 2012, 04:35:24 PM »
 MONDAY AFTERNOON...

Odette Ryder stands outside her home in Nevada, the picture of tiredness on her face. She wasn't in the ring in to wrestle at Climax Control, but she was needed there. She needed to be there as usual, because she is one of the most popular people in Sin City Wrestling.

I was not needed this week, which was ok with me. It's rare that I get a day off, but I hate being away from her. I love the romance of our relationship, so I had to turn this negative in to a positive somehow.

Odette drops her travel bag to her side and sighs, relieved that the relatively short journey from last night's show is over, and slides the key in the lock of our home, turning the key and putting a slight amount of pressure on the door, forcing it open. Odette lets the door swing open as she leans down to pick up her bag and steps inside our dim lighted house, blinking her eyes in slight confusion of the lack of light.

"Gabriel?" Her voice calls out through the hallway, a tone of mixed confusion and surprise

Odette reaches back, closing the door with her left hand and walks in to the house a little deeper, taking her bag with her and dropping it next to the high stairwell that leads up - or down, depending on where you are. The camera moves up, scanning her figure hugging tight blue jeans and cut off SCW T-shirt, as she turns her head, listening for the slightest sound, the slightest hint of where I may be. Odette turns her head as the distance sound of soft music is heard in the background, a further look of confusion donning the Aussie's face. Odette turns, slowly walking towards a door, leading towards the living area, and puts her hand on the door handle, wrapping her fingers around it and pushing it open.

"Oh my" her Australian accent fills the air.

Odette's eyes scan the room, looking at hundreds of candles, cutting through the dark room, little bursts of brightness taking away from the over ruling darkness. Odette steps in to the room, looking around at the countless bright red roses scattered around the room, the candle's light gently touching the petals. Odette's mouth opens, slightly with shock, but a smile appears on her face, the room seemingly lighting up a little more with her smile as she steps in to the room. The feel of something under her foot, and the light cracking of something soft beneath her high heeled shoe, instinctively forces her eyes to the floor, catching her first sight of hundreds of rose petals, some thickly covering the floor to show directionality, while others randomly thinned out. Odette steps further in to the room to see a small table in front of the sofa, usually covered in random clutter, but this time, clearer, with just an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne, just the neck of the bottle visible above the metal bucket, with two glasses placed in front of the bucket. Net to the bucket, a dozen white roses rest gently.

Ivory roses have a certain meaning to me. The cruise ship, Summer XXXTreme, I knew I wanted to know this amazing Aussie I've seen from afar. The closest I got to being around her was doing that photo shoot with her, Despayre and Carly Athens to promote the tag divisions, but this ship was my chance. Admittedly, if she would have shook her head, walked away cause of my reputation, my past etc, I would have had to spend the rest of my time hiding from her. Anyway, we are getting sidetracked here. When I finally got a chance to speak to Odette, I went with an icebreaker I was confident in, magic. She wrote something on that note and a nice looking necklace appeared and, you guessed it, white roses.

Odette walks towards to the table, picking the roses up and smiling at the symbolism of the ivory colored flowers. Odette's eyes move a little closer, seeing that one out of the twelve is not real. Odette raises an eyebrow and looks down on the table once more. A handwritten note is seen, moments ago, hidden by the flowers themselves. Odette picks up the note and reads the note out loud, yet softly in her Australian tone.

"Hey baby, I'm sure you've noticed that there is eleven real roses and one not real. I want you to hold on to them, because I will only ever stop loving you, when that last one of the twelve die" Odette says slowly.

Odette smiles at the flowers, understanding the meaning I was intending. Odette continues reading.

"Now put the flowers down and turn around" she reads

Her eyebrow arches as she places the flowers back on the table and slowly turns around to see me standing watching her, something I had been doing since she walked in the room. Odette moves towards me, not saying a word, but the smile on her face could say a million things. She wraps her arms around my neck and kisses me firmly on my lips. My hands slide down her body, to her hips and pull her towards me, my arms sliding round her back. Odette breathes faster as her hand moves to the side of my face, before pulling away and looking in my eyes.

"I love you" Odette says breathlessly.

Odette reaches up and kisses me again, her passion running though my body as I lift her off her feet, her legs wrapping around me. Odette pulls her head away, biting her lower lip.

"I love you too" I whisper back to the love of my life

Ok, I gotta stop there. We may be Vegas based, but kids still watch our show. You're probably wondering why I kicked off this promo with this. Here's the truth, I love her, I love her so damn much, sometimes, yes it hurts. I know you can sit there and say that love that it hurts thing is bullshit, but it's not. When I'm not with her, yeah, it hurts, stings like a bitch, and I think about her all the time, no matter what. Now you're probably wondering why I'm saying that. If you are than you need to go and have a look at the bigger picture. The bigger picture is obvious once you look close enough. We are like bigger versions of bugs. Do you think a bug sees your shoes about to squash it? Nope. Outside the place you call home is a million dangers that could end us. Simple things we've done a million times, roads we've crossed without incident for years, one day may change in your thoughts to that road you crossed and got hit by a truck. Life is short and at any moment, things could change. Why waste time doing what you want to? Why waste time showing someone you care? Why sit there and think "I will do someday" when someday may never come. I like to let her know how I feel every day, because if it's time to take my last breath within the next twenty four hours, she's gonna remember how much she means to me. Is it really that much of a problem to people to make someone smile, if they make you smile? It shouldn't be a hardship to let someone know you care, because at the end of the day, everything could change. What you took for granted is no longer yours. What you always thought would be there, may no longer be there..... If you give a damn about someone, tell them. I give a damn about her, I tell her. If this actually rings true you right now, go tell that person that just popped in your head, that you care. If this is meaningful to you right now, someone popped in your mind, maybe someone you care about but never told them. Guess what? Now's the time to do so. Pick up the phone, text, call, go on your Twitter or Facebook, hell, hop on Skype and say "Hi, I care about you, I miss you". You just might brighten up their day.

What does this have to do with my match on Sunday? Simple. You need to be in the right frame of mind in everything before you can be successful in the ring. It's not just about having the talent, because if something is wrong in your personal life, you will look like shit in the ring. Getting in the right frame of mind is as important as getting in the ring and personally, I couldn't give a damn if people think things come off as a soap opera, because you're following the life of a wrestler and again, not everything is just about talent. My personal life is in good shape, my wrestling life is in good shape. I'm going in to my match on Sunday knowing all is right with the world. EVERY little detail matters and the things precious to me, will stay close, like her and my tag team titles.....

TUESDAY MORNING

Since we moved up here to this new place, we've had a lot of visitors. We have rooms here for Melody Grace and Despayre. Odette is a very caring woman, would open this place up for anyone who needed a hand, one of the millions of reasons why I love her. Today would be no different. Melody had swung by....

I sit staring across the breakfast bar at Melody, a bottle of water sitting in front of me. Melody stares at me with a smile.

"What?" I ask her, my fingers around the water bottle.

"You and Odette are going to have beautiful babies" Melody says with a sigh.

Off guard, I blink quickly and smile across at Melody, the morning sunlight bouncing off her blonde hair. I grip the water bottle tightly.

"It's gonna be fun trying to figure out who's accents they have" Melody says with a nod.

Subject change time for now...

"So what's this secret project Despayre was talking about?" A choke out.

Lemme pause here. I do want kids with Odette, but she's got so much more to do in the ring before she ends up out for a year. The fans would hate me for taking our their fave Bombshell. Odette just isn't my Queen

"I'm not sure" Melody replies "But it's something to do with a house James Huntington-Hawkes III bought Angel for his birthday"

Yes, you saw it, Despayre, a house, etc, I bet ya excited for his promo now

I scratch my head, but a smile crosses my face.

"Might wanna wear a hard hat" I quickly say.

"Why?" Melody asks me confused

"Just might be a good idea" I reply, holding in a laugh.

Melody nods slowly, the wheels in her head slowly turning. She fires me a smile.

"So when will Odette be back?" Melody asks

"Soon" I reply "She went for a run a while ago. She'll be back soon"

"Ok" Melody says "You don't mind if I stick around, do you?"

I shake my head

"No, not at all" I reply.

I stand up to move away from the breakfast bar

"I just got a quick call to make"

Melody nods as I turn around but a clunk of something hitting the floor is heard.

"You dropped something" Melody says "I'll get it"

As quick as a cat, Melody springs around the breakfast bar and reaches to the floor before I can turn around. Melody grabs a small blue velvet box and lifts it up, holding it in front of my eyes. Melody looks at the box curiously. Her eyes open wide as she looks at the box and back up to me.

"Is that..." she starts, before changing her tone to excitement "Oh my God! You're gonna ask Odette to..."

I put my hand up to Melody, stopping her speech as she jumps up and down. Melody throws her arms around my neck, hugging me.

"Slow down Mel" I choke out through Melody's grip.

"When are you going to ask her? How long have you had it?" Melody says fast and excitedly.

I place my hands on her shoulder, trying to slow her down.

"I don't know when I'm gonna ask her and I've had it for months" I reply.

Melody puts her hands on her hips

"Months?" She asks

"Yes" I reply as I take the box from Melody, putting it back in my pocket "I bought it after our first date"

"Really?" Melody asks me, rubbing her head with a look of confusion on her face.

"Really" I reply with a shrug

"Why haven't you asked her yet? Why have you had it so long?" Melody asks

I walk towards the breakfast bar, sitting down on the tall chair next to it and look in Melody's eyes.

"I bought it after the first time we went out, because I knew that I didn't want to be with anyone else. I knew instantly that Odette was the one for me and knew it wasn't gonna change, so I went out, spent a small fortune on it and carry it with me, just waiting for the perfect moment to ask her. There was a few moments in St Lucia where I could have asked, but it was soon, and we both know her views on getting married. I didn't wanna scare her off. So I held off. She arranged this dinner on the beach, it was perfect but wasn't the right time. I knew I loved her then, but you know how it is" I say, the words moving slowly past my lips

Melody stares at me with a smile

"I want things to be perfect, perfect time, perfect place, just perfect. It's what she deserves. Thing is, you never know when that perfect moment will happen, so the ring just goes with me everywhere"

Melody sits opposite me again, pressing her elbows on the cold marble and resting her chin on her cupped hands

"Does she have any idea?" Melody asks me.

I quickly shake my head

"No, and I'd like to keep it that way" I tell Melody "This needs to be our secret"

Melody nods at me as the sound of a key turning in a lock is heard. The door shutting cuts the silence in the room and Odette walks in, pulling an iPod ear bud out of her ear. Odette is seen in tight black running clothes. I look up, waving at my beautiful girlfriend, but Melody springs out of her seat and hugs Odette, confusing the Aussie as she stares across at me. I casually shrug my shoulders at her.

"You guys are gonna be so happy together" Melody tells Odette

"We already are" Odette replies, looking across at me, growing more confused.

"Right, right" Melody says, releasing Odette.

The sound of a car horn is heard outside.

"Gotta go" Melody informs us

Melody smiles at Odette, then me, before leaving the room. Odette walks to me, taking a seat next to me and gripping her fingers around mine.

"What was that all about" She asks me

I lift Odette's hand and kiss it.

"Not a clue babe" I say putting my arm around her shoulder "not a clue"

The camera fades out

"Let's talk about glorious returns and old foes shall we?"

The lights in the room switch on and I'm seen inside a white room, nothing else in the room but me and my SCW Tag Team title belt around my waist. My eyes look deep in the camera.

"This is why I love the tag team scene, because the opportunity comes along to face unique teams. I don't think they come more unique than the returning heroes in Kain and Lucian Frost. Two men with mysterious pasts, two men with the air of mystery around them, two men with the ability to win matches out of nowhere. This may indeed be one of the greatest challenges set to me. Retaining against two respected wrestlers, against two very good fighters who shocked the world with glorious returns, winning returns. Kain, you are one of the best wrestlers I have ever been in the ring with. Back in the Goth run AWA days, you were unstoppable, SCW, you were a beast Kain. I watched you last week, you haven't lost a step. You've shown that you are one of the greatest, but Kain, I'm not too bad myself, am I? I've worked harder than most since my feet touched a wrestling ring, this will be no different. I will always fight to protect what's important to me, and this"

I point down to the title belt

"Is very precious to me. This is an important part of my life and I can't let you two take it from me. Lucian, you always seem to interest me, we all want to know what goes through your mind, we all want to know what is hidden behind the mask. I like to talk about things at face value Lucian, so I'm going to be straight up with you. You may be a challenge but you are a challenge I will overcome. I will keep this title Frost"

I step towards the camera.

"If it's not bad enough having to defend against Frost and Kain, but we have two of the biggest arseholes in the wrestling world, in this match too"

I run my fingers through my hair.

"Ah Blade, wasn't so long ago we were against each other, and here we are again. A little while ago, you called me a judgmental prick, or something to that effect. You were right, I am a judgmental prick because everyone who has ever sat there and judged me for who I am, what I do, how I live my life, gave me the right to judge others. This is another huge opportunity for you Blade, coming off of last week, coming so close to the heavyweight title, this week, another chance for glory, sadly for you Blade, another chance of failure. You will fail Blade, I will make sure of that"

I lower my head, looking down.

"Arsehole number two... you Goth. I try not to have a lot of hate but it's you Goth. The man who took away my AWA titles through jealously, tried to put me out of the game the way you did with Kain, the man who tried to ruin Despayre. Well I've proved your jealousy over and over Goth and this title right here, is one you will not be taking from me, not now, not ever. You no longer have control over me Goth and you will not take my title, you will become just like everyone else who tried and failed"

I walk towards the door, my hand on the door handle, I quickly turn back and look at the camera.

"Four more for the list of 'Oh so close'"

I open the door and look down the camera once more.

"Believe that!"

I walk through the door, slamming it shut behind me. The lights turn off and static fills the camera and the scene ends
