“New Year, new beginnings.”
« on: December 30, 2016, 07:47:35 PM »
(OOC Note: Kate and Jenny gave me permission to use their characters in this RP, also the flashback scenes and Amy’s dialogue was written by Jenny)

2016 had been a rather tumultuous year for many people but for Jessie Salco it was truly a mixed bag starting with her being eliminated in the first round of the Blast from the Past Tournament and proceeding on something of a roller-coaster ride, in a way it was successful as she won her first single’s title since 2013 by beating Mercedes Vargas for the Bombshell Internet Championship  at Blaze of Glory V only to lose it a month later to Melody Grace, she would later cement her status as one of the top Bombshells in the division with her two efforts to defeat Crystal Millar for the World Bombshell Championship so how was she ending the year?

By promoting a Tag Team Match that the Metal and Punk Connection where taking part in, yep, on the first Climax Control of the year Jessie was teaming up with Amy Marshall in a rematch against The Justice League who the duo previously faced at Violent Conduct III in a Street Fight where the Metal and Punk Connection came out on top, there was no such stipulation this time around however and with the Justice League being the Number 1 Contenders to the World Bombshell Tag Team Titles (currently held by the Members of the Elders) they potentially had everything to lose in this match but can the Metal and Punk Connection go two and o against the Justice League?

Local bar, Las Vegas, Nevada
Friday the 30th of December 2016, 18:00pm

Seriously, do the bosses have it out for me?

How many times have I said that I am not interested in the tag team division? Way too many to count, how many times have the bosses listened to me? Zero, zilch, nein, nada, the amount of brain cells in Veronica Taylor’s head, you get the idea! For some fucking reason, they have it in their heads that I can’t cut it as a single’s competitor despite being a one-time Bombshell Roulette and Internet Champion and giving Crystal Millar the fight of her life when I challenged her in her home city.

At least they’re not sticking me with a random tag team partner as, like the last time they tried to placate me by sticking me in Tag Team Competition, they teamed me up with Amy against the Justice League who are currently the number one contenders for the World Bombshell Tag Team Titles, normally I’d be ecstatic at a potential tag title opportunity which might happen if (and when) we beat the Justice League but as I said before, my interests are in Single’s Competition and Amy feels the same way!

Meanwhile the Mean Morons get chance after chance at Single’s Gold, it’d be funny if the bosses weren’t so blatant in their favoritism.

I could rant all day about those subjects but I have better things to do than concern myself with the Mean Girls and I can go into more detail about Zuri and Belinda in me and Amy’s promo later but for now I have other shit on my mind, ever since Amy confirmed that I could do another DJ set at her New Year’s Eve bash I’ve been working tirelessly on it in between working out for our match and playing Watch_Dogs 2 on the PS4 Pro that I got for Christmas, right now I am meeting with Kate and Amy at this bar to go over the set list and finalize it.

“Hey Jess.” I looked up and saw Kate standing in front of the table I was occupying, Jake and Shane where off playing pool at a nearby table but since I’m terrible at that game I couldn’t tell you who was winning if I cared, regardless I invited her to join me and she sat down. “So, how’s the set list coming along?”

“It’s pretty much finished.” I responded as I showed her my IPad which had the set list on it. “Last year I think I represented metal a bit too heavily, no pun intended, so this year I’m trying to go for a bit of a mix, granted my knowledge of punk isn’t that great so I mostly stuck to Crossover Thrash but still.” I added before turning the IPad back towards me. “So, are you ready for your match against Alexis?”

“As ready as I’ll ever be.” Kate responded with a shrug. “She may have turned her life around since my last match against her but I’m a lot better than I was in that Paintball Match.”

“Oh yeah, the Bombshell Internet Title Match from that Climax Control with Despayre in charge.” I remembered with a nod and Kate couldn’t help but laugh at the memory. “Well look on the Brightside, you don’t have to compete in a paintball match before the actual match takes place this time.”

“I don’t know, the paintball game was pretty fun up until Alexis cheated.” Kate responded with a shrug and I laughed in response. “Speaking of matches, I know from your tweet earlier this week that you’re not happy about being put against the Justice League again.”

“It’s not just that, it’s also the fact that I feel that I’ve accomplished everything I can in the Tag Team division.” I responded with an annoyed sigh. “Outside of winning the Blast from the Past Tournament and convincing Amy to get a sex change with me so that we can challenge for the men’s tag team titles off course.”

“Yeah, somehow I doubt Amy will go for that second option.” Kate responded with a laugh. “Speaking of Amy, how did she react?”

“She took it pretty well, though I think I caught her at a bad time.” I responded before going on to recant the story.

*flashback*

The scene opens inside the Santa Rosa home of Joey Santino, where we see Amy and Joey lying in bed watching a movie as they enjoy the peace and quiet of having to do nothing. However, the peace and quiet was broken hen Amy’s cell phone began to rang having only recently turned it back on. Looking at the caller ID – Jessie, Amy frowned and answered.

“Hi Jessie.” Amy said and I immediately responded with the main thing on my mind at the time.

“I can’t believe they stuck us in a tag team match…” Amy frowned wondering what Jessie was talking about.

“Uh Hi… and what?” Amy responded and though she couldn’t see it I grinned sheepishly in response.

“Sorry Hi… MPC have a tag team match the first Climax Control of 2017.” I responded as the grin disappeared from my face.

“You and Kate?” Amy queried and I shook my head.

“No… you and me. Did you forget that you signed your name up for the first card?” I asked as I looked at the card in my hand.

“Uh… yeah. Sorry.” Amy blinked and quickly remembered that she had.

“It seems that our calls to be placed into singles action have fallen on deaf ears.” I said with frustration in her voice.

“Jessie relax. It’s only the first match of 2017… still have a whole year ahead of us. Who do we have?” Amy asked and as frustrated as I was I knew she was right.

“The Justice League.” I responded quickly.

“Again?” Amy responded and I nodded.

“Yeah.” Came my response and what Amy said next did help lift my spirits up.

“We can beat them. We’ve done it once before and we can do it again. There is nothing to worry about.” Amy responded and I nodded in response, I’m still not sure why since we weren’t on Facetime.

“I know.” I said with a grin.

“Just enjoy the rest of the Christmas period and I’ll see you on New Year’s Eve.” Amy said and I nodded in response.

“Sure… Are we not meeting up or anything?” I asked and Amy shook her head.

“Only New Year’s Eve. There is no need to meet up for anything else. Unless you want to?” Amy asked and I shook my head.

“No… you are right. I’ll see you Saturday.” I responded knowing that the call wouldn’t last that long afterwards.

“Great. And don’t worry about this match. We will win and you will get your singles matches.”  Amy says with reassurance, I was still frustrated over the match but her words did help.

“Yep. Thanks Amy.” I added and Amy nodded.

“No problem.” Amy responded.

“Bye.” I said in response.

“Bye.”  Both Amy and I hung up, as Amy places her cell back onto the bedside table.

“What was that about?” Joey asked.

“About our match on the 2nd and who we are facing etc… nothing special.” Amy said shrugging as she snuggles back down in the arms of Joey.

“Who are you against?” Joey asked and Amy shrugged again.

“The Justice League. Nobody special.” Amy responded and Joey nodded.

“Ok.” Joey accepts it, as the scene soon fades out as the camera pan arounds to the television where we see the Suicide Squad playing.

*end flashback*

“Obviously, the plans to only meet-up on New Year’s Eve changed after I agreed to do the set.” I added and Kate nodded in response. “But what can you do?”

“Other than kick the Mean Girls asses?” Kate asked with a grin and I laughed in response. “Still, it is good to get out and grab a pint before the year ends am I right? Speaking of which.” Kate added before she stood up and motioned towards the bar. “Can I get you anything?”

“I don’t feel like getting drunk so just get me a soda.” I responded and Kate nodded before heading over to the bar, by the time she returned with the drinks I spotted another familiar face approaching the table and I grinned. “Hey Amy.” I greeted her and Kate looked over her shoulder and saw the oldest member of our little group.

“Hey guys.” Amy greeted us before taking a seat once she was offered one. “So, how’s the set list coming along?” Amy asked and I turned my IPad around so that she could see it, once she read through it she nodded before turning the IPad back to me. “Looks good to me, I noticed that there’s a lot more punk than there was last year.”

“What can I say? I wanted to strike a balance between the genres we represent.” I responded with a nod as Amy set her drink down. “I didn’t call you about the match at a bad time, did I?”

“Nah, me and Joey where just watching Suicide Squad on TV.” Amy responded and I nodded in response even if I hold the opinion that DC can’t make a good Superhero movie to save their lives. “And speaking of Joey.” Amy added before holding up the hand with her engagement ring on it. “He proposed over the holidays, I said yes off course!”

“Yeah, I saw your tweet about it.” I responded with a big grin on my face. “Congrats Amy, after that shit went down with Kevin you deserve to be happy.”

“Thanks, and I’d rather forget about him.” Amy responded and I winced in response to her comment. “Where’s Jake and Shane? I thought you said that they were coming with you?”

“They’re playing pool over there.” I responded as I motioned to the area with the pool table. “I would’ve joined them but to be honest? I’m terrible at pool.”

“Fair enough.” Amy shrugged before motioning to the IPad. “I see you took my advice regarding the Rise Against song and the Metal and Punk Connection theme.”

“Yeah, to be honest when I first started wrestling Prayer of the Refuge was my theme for most of my rookie year after which I switched to Redemption.” I shrugged before putting the IPad away. “So, if you don’t mind me asking, how did the proposal go? Joey did approach me for advice on it but I’m still curious.”

“Well, first Joey went to my parents for permission, he’s a bit old fashioned if you haven’t noticed.” Amy responded before she started recounting the story.

*flashback*

I said my goodbye to Amy, as I told that I had to work the next three days to sort out wages and other bits and pieces for Christmas, however only some which was partly true, however, I did have an ulterior motive and that was to travel to Juneau and meet up with Amy’s parents to discuss a couple of things.

The flight from Vegas to Juneau was three hours long, but my laptop kept me busy as I did some online shopping as well as taking a quick nap. As the plane landed I packed my laptop away and stood to my feet and pulled a small case from the overhead locker. I then headed off the plane to the exit, totally avoiding waiting for the queue to the carousel, where I jumped into a taxi and headed to Amy’s parents’ home.

Lightly knocking on the door, I wait for a few moments as I look around the small street until the door opens to reveal Amy’s mom.

“Hi Mrs Marshall.”

I smiled and greeted her politely.

“Joey what are you doing here… where is Amy?

She queried looking around.

“Amy is back in Vegas, I’ve come to see Mr Marshall… well maybe both of you.”

“Oh… ok.”

Mrs Marshall frowned.

“Can I come in?”

“Sure.”

Amy’s mom opens the door wider to allow me into the house. Placing my small case by the door, I enter the living room and look around at the many family photos, though oddly not many of Amy. However, that could change.

“tea, coffee or something else?”

“Can I just have a water please Mrs Marshall.”

I say politely.
“Sure, and call me Olivia.”

I respectfully nod and watch her walk into the kitchen as Amy’s father appears.

“Joey, how are you?”

“Good thanks… how are you Sam?”

“Pretty good. Take a seat.”

“Thanks.”

I move to the nearest chair and sit down.

Mrs Marsha… uh Olivia comes through from the kitchen and hands me a water before sitting down opposite, as a wave or nerves hits me and I take in the water than was handed to me.

“So what are you here to discuss?”

Olivia asks.

“Well it’s more aimed at Sam, but I’m happy for you to give your consent.”

“Consent for what?”

“Well… Amy doesn’t know about this. But I would like your blessing to marry your daughter.”

I say with a hopeful smile and slight relief that I got it out. I had previously done this with my departed wife’s father. I had taken him to a small bar, where we had a chat and ate and drank. Obviously not much but he agreed. This meeting however felt different due to the nature if Amy’s relationship with her parents but more specifically Amy and her mom and the resentment Olivia has towards Amy.

I look at Sam first, who smiles and nods appreciatively before looking to Olivia who places her coffee down a little shocked.

“I like you Joey. You are very respectful and very old school. Not many guys do that anymore.”

“This better not be another Kevin situation. Ask Amy to marry you and then dump her and frolic off with another girl.”

“Fu… god no. I am more mature that idiot. I’m not going to break your daughters heart.”

I said honestly.

“Good. It’s good to see Amy finally settling down.”

“She hasn’t said yes yet.”

Sam said towards Olivia, as she says nothing else, as Sam looks towards me.

“You have my blessing. But you better not break her heart. She has been through too much.”

“Thank you and I will not.”

Sam sticks his hand out and I take it to shake.

“So when will you be proposing?”

“Well this when your family and my family come into it. Would you mind instead of having Christmas dinner here, that you and Amy’s sisters would like to join me in Santa Rosa with my family. So we can all get to know each other and then I will pop the question?”

I ask.

“I don’t have any issues.”

Sam says.

“It’s usually a quiet Christmas day, I need to find out what Katherine and Mary are doing. But I’m ok with Christmas day.”

“What has your family said?”

Sam asks.

“I haven’t put it to them yet. That’s why I am flying that was in a few hours.”

“Well… since you have a few hours spare. Would you like to pop into town and grab a bite to eat?”

“Sure.”

“Well then… grab your bag, I’ll drop you off at the airport after.”

Sam says standing to his feet, as Olivia follows suit as she finishes the remainder of her coffee and disappears into the kitchen. Sam disappears for a moment as I stand to my feet and stretch and smile at how well this went. Waiting for a few moments, Olivia and Sam return with their coats, Olivia with her bag and keys. I then follow them to the door, where I grab my bag and follow Sam to the car to load my bag. The scene quickly fades as I jump into the car followed close behind by Olivia, as Sam them drives us into town.

25th December 2016
Santa Rosa, CA.

The scene opens outside a large house in Santa Rosa, California, where Christmas lights light up around the door and with two small Christmas three sit either side sparkling in the sun, as voices and music can be heard filtering through. As we move into the house, the house just like outside has minimal decoration’s but just enough to for the spirit of Christmas, as the camera pans around, we hear the CD playing some of the older Christmas tunes of Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee and Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea etc… moving to the dining room, we see Amy, Olivia Marshall (Mom), Sam Marshall (Dad), Katie (sister), Mary (sister), Joey and his family – mom, dad, 2 brothers and 1 sister…

On the table were empty plates and left over potatoes, carrots and various other vegetables along with empty bottles of wine and empty crackers. Joey stands to his feet with a glass in one hand and a fork in the other and lightly tap it with a fork to alert everyone before placing the fork down.

“I would like to thank everyone for coming today, as well as helping make this wonderful Christmas dinner and helping to get to know each other. Now I have a special announcement to make.”

Joey places his glass of wine down, before digging into his jeans pocket and pulling out a small black box and drops to his knee.

“Amy Marshall… would you do me the honor of marrying me?”

Amy looks down at Joey open mouthed, as she looked around at her family and then Joey’s family before turning back to him and then at the ring that is presented before her.

“Yes… Yes…”

Amy says with a smile, as Joey removes the ring from the box and place it on her ring finger, as they both stand to their feet and share a kiss, as their family’s clap and whoop.

“I think this calls for some champagne”

Joey’s sister stands to her feet and disappears for a moment before bringing back a bottle of champagne. The scene quickly fades out as the bottle of champagne is opened and the champagne being poured between everyone and celebrate the new engagement.

*end flashback*

“We haven’t got a date set for the wedding yet and since I don’t go to festivals I don’t think I’ll do the same as you did when you got married to Shane.” Amy added as she finished recounting the story, even so I couldn’t help but be happy for her. “And here’s hoping that I won’t get a stalker like you did on your wedding day.”

“Ugh, don’t get me started.” I responded as I shook my head, that was the only memory of my wedding day that I was eager to leave behind. “That event was pretty much the catalyst that lead to me missing the last Climax Control of 2015.”

“Well to be fair, the Taipei Death Match did seem like a good idea at the time.” Kate reasoned and after that we continued chatting for a couple of hours and well, remember what I said about not feeling like getting drunk? Yeah, scratch that.

“Well, I think I’m ready to get drunk.” I decided getting a laugh out of Kate and Amy. “But I don’t know about you Amy but I don’t feel like doing this promo drunk, want to head outside to do it?”

“Sounds good.” Amy nodded in response before we stood up and started heading to the outside area. “You going to be okay on your own Kate?”

“Sure, I’m thinking about challenging Jake or Shane to a game of pool soon anyway.” Kate responded with a nod and we headed out, it was cold obviously but to quote the obnoxiously catchy Disney song, the cold never bothered me anyway and we got ready to start on our promo.

“As we say goodbye to 2016 and say hello to 2017, it’s pretty much back to the grind of daily life, however, 2017 will be a whole lot different to 2016. For me 2016 has been too quiet in terms of wrestling and I didn’t win any gold after taking a break. But in my personal life, the man that I met a year ago, proposed to me on Christmas day and I said yet. But don’t expect a wedding in 2017 as I want to wait a year before saying I do.”

Amy says before shifting her weight.

“So 2017… my new year’s resolution will be more active and win more titles in this company. I refuse to take a backseat and let everyone else have the fun. However, while MPC has recently grown with the addition of Kate Steele, it appears that any tag team thoughts will be put on the backburner. Although it looks like we be dragged into the forever ongoing battle between the Mean Girls and everyone. Plus, we have this tag team match scheduled at Climax Control.”

Amy added before nodding to me and I stepped forward.

“2017, a new year, new beginnings, at least that’s how it’s supposed to go.” I commented as I folded my arms. “But instead me and Amy find ourselves in tag team competition again and the bosses don’t even have the common courtesy to give us fresh opponents, instead we are facing The Justice League in a rematch from Violent Conduct III way back in September only this time the Justice League are the Number 1 Contenders for the World Bombshell Tag Team Titles.”

I said before nodding to Amy as she stepped forward.

“So, Climax Control will be Metal and Punk Connection verses The Justice League. Now we all know how this will turn out. We have beaten them before and we can beat them again. But let’s make things clear first… Yes, Jessie and I are seeking success in singles competition, but we are professional and we will still wrestle in tag team matches and have no problem beating current number one contenders and maybe interjecting ourselves into the title scene. Anyway… Justice League… we both show each other a small amount of respect… but as we all know that will go out of the window once we all step into the ring.”

Amy added before I stepped forward.

“Normally I’d dress you down individually but we’re short on time, Justice League, for you this match will be as bad for your reputation as the Justice League TV Pilot movie from the 90s and maybe just as embarrassing, either way this will be a hell of a match and I look forward to it.”

I said before nodding to Amy.

“Jessie and I have dealt with Belinda Warwick with ease before and we can do it again… And we can beat you like last time. Come Monday… seems strange saying that… but come Monday night MPC will be victorious and show people we are serious.”

Amy said before letting me wrap things up.

“This is the Metal and Punk Connection signing off, Justice League, last time we faced I compared us to the Legion of Doom but unlike that team we have defeated you and this Monday we will do it again!”

We returned to the bar as the scene fades.
