[That could have gone better. Well, actually, no. Things could have gone that much worse, and it did for the SCW Bombshell Internet Champion. It wasn't the loss that ate away at her. That was par for the course in the division. No matter what the smart fans say, whether a Superstar or Bombshell holds a championship or not, on any given Sunday, anyone can beat anyone. It's just that in this instance, well, Mercedes fell once again to a shady outcome. Story of her life.
It's only been a quarter of the year through and Mercedes has gone through a lot in the first three months of 2016: running Climax Control on the first show of the new year, run-ins with Celeste and Alexis, another agonizing loss to Crystal Millar, the surprising first round exit in the Blast From the Past, her short feud with Alexis and winning the Bombshell Internet Championship for her first title win in over six months. Going through all of that would drive anyone mad. True to self, she had a tough time trying to maintain the grip on her sanity, much less her anxiety. Having survived her first defense is one thing; trying to get through her second was another. Only once has she done this – her dominant third reign as Bombshell Roulette Champion. And even after her recent loss, it didn't help that should she survive Blaze of Glory against Jessie Salco, Melody Grace was waiting in the wings by virtue of her pinfall.
To Mercedes, the thought brings her dreading the possible matchup.
All is for the best in the best of all possible worlds.
In the outskirts of the Phoenix suburb of Tempe, Mercedes and Janet the Makeup Lady start leaving the arena. It was colder than Mercedes had expected when she stepped outside. What was a reasonable ninety degrees at sundown became unseasonably chilly. She buttoned the furline of her trenchcoat as she made her way to the parking lot.]
Janet: So, have fun?
Mercedes: Well, I don't think anyone would mistake Jessie and I for Team Hero, Isabella and Hazel interfered in the match so many times that I've lost count, I'm going home with a loss on my record after I got pinned, and I was almost attacked by the Overton Sisters before Zuri Chastain ran them off. All in all, a great night.
Janet: You can't win them all. You couldn't have known that would happen.
Mercedes: I guess I'll have to chalk up the loss and get ready for my title match at Blaze of Glory.
Janet: Right, the supercard is in two weeks. You sure you're ready for Jess, especially with your track record at BOG?
Mercedes: I don't know, I'm not sure. Maybe this is a sign or something. Maybe Jessie will finally beat me. I can't be lucky forever.
Janet: Don't be hard on yourself, Mercy. You're better than that. You're a tough challenger for any Bombshell on the roster.
Mercedes: I used to think that too. But those days may be coming to an end.
[[Mercedes aims her car remote as two brief flashes from the headlights comes from her car.]
Mercedes: Well, I have to get going. I hate being stuck at the airport past midnight.
Janet: You've got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and latch on to the affirmative.
Mercedes: Mary Poppins?
Janet: About twenty years late there. Don't take things too seriously.
[[Mercedes offers a brittle smile. She open the door to the driver's side then turns back to Janet.]
Mercedes: I'm a marked woman with a championship. I can't be anything but serious.
[She opens the door, climbs in and starts the engine. Adjusting her rear view mirror, she backs out of the parking space and drives off.]

Blog: A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Ninth: Champions Make the Title, Styles Make Fights
semana del 27 de marzo al 2 de abril 2 0 1 6
A belt doesn't make the champion; the champion makes the belt.
True words words were never spoken. It takes more than wearing gold to be a champion and maybe that's something J2H was trying to get through to all the title holders in the company. OK, maybe he has a way of rubbing people the wrong way, but he's right.
You get out what you put in.
Defining championships, making them more than just cow skin and leather, winning matches when the title isn't on the line wouldn't hurt either.
That's three tag losses in a row to Melody Grace and, wouldn't you know it, she pins the champion, trigging a course of events that, truth be told, I'm fearing after Blaze of Glory. Melody, despitte being a pawn in Mark Ward's little game, doesn't seem to be rattled at all by his “No Gimmicks” ultimatum and it showed. Dressing up as Lola Bunny on Easter Sunday? Genius!
But I digress.
Melody's win was mostly because of her partner, and future opponent, Candy Overton. You know, I'm really starting not to like the Overtons after pulling another fast one at my expense. Believe me, I'd love to get my revenge, but I don't think I'll have to do much. Karma will take care of her in less than two weeks. As for me, I've got a upcoming title defense against Jessie Salco. Don't laugh. Some might say that of all the champions on the supercard, I'm the only one that got off easy. I'd concur with that statement.
Jessie is part of a special group of girls on the active roster who have been with the company for three years or longer along with Roxi and Gothika and Raynin of The Fallen, so I know full well not to write her off. Like me, she has been successful and has the gold to back that up. Unlike me, she hasn't has as much experience in defending singles championships.
Sorry, Jess, but while you will one day win the Bombshell Internet to compete the triple crown, that day won't be on April 10. I'm a champion. I've got to set the example, not be made an example and I refuse to allow what happened at the go-home show happen again at Blaze of Glory.
I’m not going to crack, I’m not going to get rattled. The curse, the “Blaze of Glory” curse ends in Phoenix, at your expense.
I didn't need luck to win the Bombshell Internet Championship and Alexis fortunately didn't “pin herself” to lose it; I beat her for it, plain and simple. No controversy necessary. And while I respect you enough to take you seriously, there will be no controversy coming from this match either, Jessie. The fallout from Climax Control won't change that. If you were expecting my 'grr face', then you're about to be disappointed. This match between us is nothing personal, this is all business. The same it's always has been the last 11 times we've faced each other over two years.
Jessie, like I know you will, bring what you got and don't come at me with anything less than your best because when is all said and done at Blaze of Glory V, I want to say that I beat the Heavy Metal Angel at her best. At the end of the day you're only as good as your last match, right?
Champions make the title, style makes fights and those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result, right? I guess it's crazy to think that those loses served as a learning experience, and experience, as they say, is a great teacher.
I think I've learned from my mistakes this time and I'm going to make sure there won't be a trilogy at Blaze of Glory V and you'll tell me which means for you, Jessie, that you're dreams of a triple crown will be delayed.
So the question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.
Su reina ha hablado!

[At Blaze of Glory, there will be a few factions and tag teams, past and present, on the card. The Angel Clan, the Monstimals, The Nobodies, Team Hero. Missing from that group is perhaps the most notorious of them all and the stable that turned the Bombshells Division on its head, the Mean Girls. And yet this Sunday, the two surviving members of the infamous stable will be competing in title matches, yet we know that between Veronica and Mercedes, the former was successful because of the affiliation while Mercedes had found success in spite of them. Her joining magnified her earlier success exponentially, not to mention that she gained even more popularity becoming the group's cheerleader and spokesperson. But alas, all good things must come to an end.
The end, of course, happened more than one year ago at Blaze of Glory IV. Even today, the memory of that moment gave Mercedes nightmares, the length of which have kept her up at night. That she would be defending her Bombshell Internet Championship against Jessie Salco at Blaze of Glory V didn't improve her mood. Not because the former Metal and Punk Connection and now Angel Clan member wasn't a pushover, despite what her win loss record say on the contrary, but that everything that she worked for could come crashing down on her again at the biggest event of the year. And she couldn't allow that to happen again, she wouldn't. She wouldn't leave GCU Arena, the state of Arizona or the county line until her hand was raised. She wouldn't quit fighting until her last breath before that happened. That's how much she was looking toward her sixth visit to Phoenix and returning to GCU Arena for the first time in more than two years.
[The scene opens up as we see the hands and partial arms of someone struggling with a webcam. After a few minutes, the person steps back, reaching out to adjust the device before looking back at the camera with a sidelong glance. Mercedes Vargas waves back at us. Wearing her brand new t-shirt (which you can purchase from Scw shop for $19.99), the Argentine is at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. In the background is the entrance to Frank Gehry's Santa Monica Place.]
[REC•]
Mercedes: Blaze of Glory V is almost here, in eight days, actually, and if you haven't already heard, Jessie Salco is my next challenger for the Bombshell Internet Championship. How exciting is that? Now, I'm no mind reader, but I bet you're probably wondering, 'OK, did Jessie earned a title shot? Did she win a contendership match?” No, she didn't. But I don't really mind. Like I said before, I'll take on anybody who wants a shot at my title and I never back down from a challenge. And if there is anyone who knows that, it's Jessie Salco.
[Mercedes lowers her eyes, shaking her head. She blinks a few times before taking a deep breath, seeing her breath in the cold air.]
Mercedes: You know, Jess, after Amy took her sabbatical, I thought you would be following her. But as it turns out, you're still here, plugging along, keeping your head above water in SCW and that's something to be admired. Melanie and Lucy took you in as one of their own in the Angel Clan and you've found your voice. But then, how can you lose something you've always had? On Twitter, you vowed that if you beat me, you would give Melody the first title shot and that's awesome. Who wouldn't want to see a match between you and Melly?Think of the ratings! It's just too bad that I'm going to have to spoil your plans, Jessie, because I'm not going to lose a third title match at Blaze of Glory and in fact, I don't plan to.
The Bombshell Internet Championship may be over a year old, but other than the one vacancy, the title's legacy is off to a good start. Roxi and Alexis had pretty impressive reigns with the Bombshell Internet Championship and I want to continue that trend of dominant champions. I get that you want to join Amy Marshall in winning the title, I get that you want to make it a clean sweep for the Clan, but if Melanie doesn't walk out as World Bombshell Champion, than the Angel Clan will be walking out empty handed at Blaze of Glory. And how do you think Alexis would feel if I lost my championship to you? She would be devastated. She would be embarrassed. I can't let her down and I hope you understand that.
[Mercedes lowers her eyes, shaking her head. She blinks a few times before taking a deep breath, seeing her breath in the cold air.]
Mercedes: You wouldn’t be able to live with the fact of losing to me again, Jessie. Hopefully, you made up for lost time since our first singles match. You'd better, or you're going disappoint a lot of people, including me.
[Mercedes bring her title into the shot, raising it in front of the camera.]
Mercedes: You want to make history at Blaze of Glory like Amy did, you'd better keep your eyes on the prize, or else it would be gone, just like that.
[Mercedes snaps her fingers after each word before placing her title over her shoulder.]
Mercedes: See you in eight days.
[Mercedes walks off into the day and our scene fades.]
