RP Title: “One away from the Triple Crown!”

Jessie’s team lost the tag team match against Candy Overton and Melody Grace when Melody pinned Mercedes but that hasn’t seem to have any effect on their respective Blaze of Glory matches as Jessie was still challenging Mercedes for the title and Melody was set to face off against Candy in a Two out of Three Falls match to cap off their rivalry, whether or not Melody would go after the winner of the match between Jessie and Mercedes remained to be seen but for now Jessie had other things on her mind, winning the Grand Slam by winning her third title in SCW and potentially guaranteeing her a spot in the SCW Hall of Fame one day.

As stated before Jessie’s luck hasn’t been great but the same can be said for Mercedes as, like Jessie, her team was eliminated in the first round of the Blast from the Past Tournament when she and Derick Thorne where eliminated by Connor Murphy and Jessie’s ally in The Angel Clan Melanie Gabrielle who would go on to reach the semi-finals before being eliminated by Despayre and Crystal Miller but the real question was can Jessie beat Mercedes?

Jessie’s home, Las Vegas, Nevada
April Fool’s Day 2016, 11:00am

I have a lot on my mind right now.

That’s actually pretty normal for me when the Supercard is two weeks away and that’s especially true for the biggest SCW show of the year Blaze of Glory which is two weeks’ away but I have a lot on my plate going into the Supercard, first I’m facing off against Mercedes Vargas for the first time in single’s competition, I’ve faced her in tag team action a few times, in fact me and Amy as the Metal and Punk Connection won our first tag team titles after defeating Mercedes and Traci Patterson towards the end of 2013 but this is the first time we’ve faced off in singles competition.

And then there’s what this win will mean for my career.

Long story short, when I beat Mercedes I’ll win the Bombshell Internet Championship from her and become a Triple Crown winner in the process, if that’s not a hell of a way for me to end my recent losing streak then I don’t know what is and there’s no force on Earth that’ll stop me from winning the title and potentially securing my spot in the SCW Hall of Fame, it’s that simple!

Today may be April Fool’s Day but this is no joke, there’s no way in hell that I’m walking out of Phoenix without that belt around my waist!

So what am I up too? Well I was listening to the new Amon Amarth album Jomsviking for the 20th time since its release when Shane knocked on my bedroom door and said to come downstairs because he had an important announcement, already alarm bells were going off in my head as I realized what date it was and Shane’s been giggling like a school girl all week.

That’s right, the 6ft 2 hairy metalhead that I call my husband has been giggling like a schoolgirl, good luck getting that mental image out of your head, you’ll need it!

“Okay Shane, this had better be good if you’re willing to interrupt your favorite Sepultura album for it.” I commented as I sat down next to Jake in the dining room table with Shane sitting across the table from us. “So what’s the important announcement?”

“I sold the Bloodstock tickets.” Shane responded and we did a double take. “But I did get tickets in exchange for them.”

“Shane, unless those tickets are for every stop on Iron Maiden’s World Tour, including Download, with all expenses paid, you had better be joking.” Jake responded as his eyes narrowed and Shane nodded barely keeping a straight face in the process. “What tickets did you buy in exchange?”

“Justin Bieber tickets!” Shane responded with a grin and, well let’s put it this way, if looks could kill then Shane would be six feet under right now. “Oh yeah, April Fools!”

“Are you fucking serious?!” Jake demanded as he ran a hand down his face. “You do remember how much those tickets cost right? And you make them the subject of an April Fool’s Joke?!”

“Err, yeah, what happened to your sense of humor?” Shane asked before wincing when he saw the look on my face. “I’m sleeping on the couch, aren’t I?”

“No, that would be too kind.” I responded as I shifted my weight. “You are sleeping in the garage for the next two weeks, the only banging you’ll be doing will be on your drumkit.”

“Your serious, aren’t you?” Shane asked once realization hit him and I nodded without hesitation. “I guess I’d better dig my sleeping bag out of the closet, if nothing else I’ll get a shit ton of practice in by Blaze of Glory V.” Shane added before he went up to the room he kept his computer in and retrieved his sleeping bag.

“Before you get set up in there Shane, let me make one thing clear.” I commented and Shane turned to me. “I can take a joke and I can dish them out just as well but joking about selling tickets to Bloodstock for Bieber? You’re lucky it’s April Fool’s Day!”

“Agreed but in the interest of fairness I’ll make sure your warm in there, I should have a portable generator somewhere in the house.” Jake added as he stood up and started looking for one, I shook my head in response as Shane went into the garage to set up his sleeping bag and I got my phone out to Tweet about it.

“Fucking character limit.” I grunted under my breath once I realized that I’d have to split it up into two tweets, I was surprised that Steve hadn’t posted a joke of his own yet but I dismissed that and posted the tweets, after a few minutes Shane returned and he sat back down in his chair. “How long where you planning that prank?” I asked him as I leaned my arms on the table and Shane blinked.

“I came up with the idea whilst we were at Climax Control, more specifically during the Main Event.” Shane responded with a shrug and I nodded. “I’ve been refining the idea over the past few days in between drum practice and other stuff and I was finally satisfied with it last night.”

“And at no point during those past few days you didn’t realize how bad an idea joking about something like that was?” I asked and Shane gulped in response. “Just be glad that you didn’t pull this stunt last year when we were going to get married the same week as Bloodstock because otherwise I would’ve called off the wedding.” I added before noticing that I had some notifications from Twitter waiting for me.

“I still think you’re overreacting! I mean seriously it was just a joke!” Shane responded and I grinned when I saw a reply to my tweet.

“Someone else didn’t find the joke all that funny.” I responded before passing my phone to him. “Melanie agrees with me.”

“She never even heard of Bloodstock before you joined the Angel Clan.” Shane responded as he shook his head. “What does she know?”

“She knows enough to know that joking about stuff like selling Bloodstock tickets for Justin Bieber tickets, even if it’s an April Fool’s Prank.” I responded before the door opened and Jake entered the room carrying a mini-generator under his arm. “Where did you find it?”

“You know that toolshed out back?” Jake asked and we nodded in response. “I thought I saw this thing in there when we first moved in and when I checked it just a few minutes ago that confirmed it, I tested it in my room for twenty minutes and it still works.”

“Was it left behind by the previous owner?” I asked and Jake shrugged.

“Your guess is as good as mine and considering that the previous owner of the house moved to Japan I don’t think they’ll be coming back for it.” Jake responded as Shane stood up. “I take it you left your sleeping bag by a plug?”

“Yeah, left it by the extension cable I use for the drum mics.” Shane nodded in response and Jake followed him into the garage, now that I was alone I decided to get started on my promo.

“When I said that I was on the hunt for a title to end my losing streak earlier this month I specifically said that I wanted a shot at Kate but apparently the person who’s nothing without the Mean Girls and someone I eliminated in the Six Pack Challenge at My Bloody Valentine II gets priority over the Bombshell Kate pinned to win the title in the first place!” I said before shaking my head. “But there is a silver lining to this situation, I’m challenging Mercedes Vargas for the Bombshell Internet Championship instead and if I win that means I’ll get to join Amy as a Triple Crown winner.”

I said with a grin on my face.

“Mercedes, this is a first time match for the both of us as we may have faced off in tag team competition before but never in singles competition but that’s not the only thing on my mind going into this match, like I said before when I win this match I’ll become a Triple Crown Winner and that’s my goal heading into this match, simple as that!”

Oh, who am I kidding?

“Despite the fact that you were a member of the Mean Girls Mercedes I don’t have anything against you as a person but at the same time I’m not underestimating you in the ring, you don’t win as many titles as you have on your own without having a hell of a lot of talent and experience but that won’t stop me from beating you in the ring at Blaze of Glory!”

As a matter of fact…….

“Now that I think about it it’s pretty fitting that you’ll lose your Internet Championship at a show called Blaze of Glory because how I see it this will end in glory for me and the other Angel Clan members, Lucy will win the Blast from the Past Tournament, Melanie will win the World Bombshell Championship and I will beat you for the Bombshell Internet Championship! I know you’ll put up a hell of a fight Mercedes but so will I but the real question is, can you keep up?”

We both know the answer here.

“As much as I respect you as a competitor Mercedes there’s no way in hell that you can keep up with me in the ring! It’s that simple, I’m faster, younger and more determined than you’ll ever be and I’ll prove it in two weeks’ time at Blaze of Glory when I beat you for my first single’s title in three years and the fact that I’ll be yet another Triple Crown winner, it may have taken me three years to get to this point but as far as I’m concerned it’ll be worth the wait!”

I said before leaning back.

“You want to know why I got into wrestling in the first place? It was to prove my doubters wrong, for one thing before I started training I was a twenty-one-year-old recovering drug addict but that aside everyone told me that I was too small to make it in wrestling often pointing out just how much bigger the women on TV where compared to me but my career here in SCW speaks for itself and when I win the Internet Championship from you Mercedes it’ll be the final nail in the coffin of those who doubted me!”

And no one will stop me from achieving that.

“Back at the beginning of the year pretty much everyone was predicting that this would be the year were I would finally win the Triple Crown and in two weeks’ time I’ll make those predictions a reality! Mercedes I know you’re a tough competitor but nothing with stand in my way of winning the SCW Internet Championship and that’s a fact!”

And with that I decided to wrap things up.

“Today might be April Fool’s Day but this match is no joke for me! Not only has it been way to long since I last held a single’s title in SCW but I am one championship away from becoming a Triple Crown winner and guess what Mercedes? I have your title in my sites and I’m walking out of Phoenix, Arizona the new Bombshell Internet Champion! This is “The Heavy Metal Angel” Jessie Salco signing off and I will strike down Mercedes Vargas on my road to the title!”

I went up to my room to resume listening to the Sepultura album as the scene fades.

[That could have gone better. Well, actually, no. Things could have gone that much worse, and it did for the SCW Bombshell Internet Champion. It wasn't the loss that ate away at her. That was par for the course in the division. No matter what the smart fans say, whether a Superstar or Bombshell holds a championship or not, on any given Sunday, anyone can beat anyone. It's just that in this instance, well, Mercedes fell once again to a shady outcome. Story of her life.

It's only been a quarter of the year through and Mercedes has gone through a lot in the first three months of 2016: running Climax Control on the first show of the new year, run-ins with Celeste and Alexis, another agonizing loss to Crystal Millar, the surprising first round exit in the Blast From the Past, her short feud with Alexis and winning the Bombshell Internet Championship for her first title win in over six months. Going through all of that would drive anyone mad. True to self, she had a tough time trying to  maintain the grip on her sanity, much less her anxiety. Having survived her first defense is one thing; trying to get through her second was another. Only once has she done this – her dominant third reign as Bombshell Roulette Champion. And even after her recent loss, it didn't help that should she survive Blaze of Glory against Jessie Salco, Melody Grace was waiting in the wings by virtue of her pinfall.

To Mercedes, the thought brings her dreading the possible matchup.

All is for the best in the best of all possible worlds.

In the outskirts of the Phoenix suburb of Tempe, Mercedes and Janet the Makeup Lady start leaving the arena. It was colder than Mercedes had expected when she stepped outside. What was a reasonable ninety degrees at sundown became unseasonably chilly. She buttoned the furline of her trenchcoat as she made her way to the parking lot.
]

Janet: So, have fun?

Mercedes: Well, I don't think anyone would mistake Jessie and I for Team Hero, Isabella and Hazel interfered in the match so many times that I've lost count, I'm going home with a loss on my record after I got pinned, and I was almost attacked by the Overton Sisters before Zuri Chastain ran them off. All in all, a great night.

Janet: You can't win them all. You couldn't have known that would happen.

Mercedes: I guess I'll have to chalk up the loss and get ready for my title match at Blaze of Glory.

Janet: Right, the supercard is in two weeks. You sure you're ready for Jess, especially with your track record at BOG?

Mercedes: I don't know, I'm not sure. Maybe this is a sign or something. Maybe Jessie will finally beat me. I can't be lucky forever.

Janet: Don't be hard on yourself, Mercy. You're better than that. You're a tough challenger for any Bombshell on the roster.

Mercedes: I used to think that too. But those days may be coming to an end.

[[Mercedes aims her car remote as two brief flashes from the headlights comes from her car.]

Mercedes: Well, I have to get going. I hate being stuck at the airport past midnight.

Janet: You've got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative and latch on to the affirmative.

Mercedes: Mary Poppins?

Janet: About twenty years late there. Don't take things too seriously.

[[Mercedes offers a brittle smile. She open the door to the driver's side then turns back to Janet.]

Mercedes: I'm a marked woman with a championship. I can't be anything but serious.

[She opens the door, climbs in and starts the engine. Adjusting her rear view mirror, she backs out of the parking space and drives off.]

Blog: A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Ninth: Champions Make the Title, Styles Make Fights
semana del 27 de marzo al 2 de abril 2 0 1 6

A belt doesn't make the champion; the champion makes the belt.

True words words were never spoken. It takes more than wearing gold to be a champion and maybe that's something J2H was trying to get through to all the title holders in the company. OK, maybe he has a way of rubbing people the wrong way, but he's right.

You get out what you put in.

Defining championships, making them more than just cow skin and leather, winning matches when the title isn't on the line wouldn't hurt either.

That's three tag losses in a row to Melody Grace and, wouldn't you know it, she pins the champion, trigging a course of events that, truth be told, I'm fearing after Blaze of Glory. Melody, despitte being a pawn in Mark Ward's little game, doesn't seem to be rattled at all by his “No Gimmicks” ultimatum and it showed. Dressing up as Lola Bunny on Easter Sunday? Genius!

But I digress.

Melody's win was mostly because of her partner, and future opponent, Candy Overton. You know, I'm really starting not to like the Overtons after pulling another fast one at my expense. Believe me, I'd love to get my revenge, but I don't think I'll have to do much. Karma will take care of her in less than two weeks. As for me, I've got a upcoming title defense against Jessie Salco. Don't laugh. Some might say that of all the champions on the supercard, I'm the only one that got off easy. I'd concur with that statement.

Jessie is part of a special group of girls on the active roster who have been with the company for three years or longer along with Roxi and Gothika and Raynin of The Fallen, so I know full well not to write her off. Like me, she has been successful and has the gold to back that up. Unlike me, she hasn't has as much experience in defending singles championships.

Sorry, Jess, but while you will one day win the Bombshell Internet to compete the triple crown, that day won't be on April 10. I'm a champion. I've got to set the example, not be made an example and I refuse to allow what happened at the go-home show happen again at Blaze of Glory.

I’m not going to crack, I’m not going to get rattled. The curse, the “Blaze of Glory” curse ends in Phoenix, at your expense.

I didn't need luck to win the Bombshell Internet Championship and Alexis fortunately didn't “pin herself” to lose it; I beat her for it, plain and simple. No controversy necessary. And while I respect you enough to take you seriously, there will be no controversy coming from this match either, Jessie. The fallout from Climax Control won't change that. If you were expecting my 'grr face', then you're about to be disappointed. This match between us is nothing personal, this is all business. The same it's always has been the last 11 times we've faced each other over two years.

Jessie, like I know you will, bring what you got and don't come at me with anything less than your best because when is all said and done at Blaze of Glory V, I want to say that I beat the Heavy Metal Angel at her best. At the end of the day you're only as good as your last match, right?

Champions make the title, style makes fights and those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and getting the same result, right? I guess it's crazy to think that those loses served as a learning experience, and experience, as they say, is a great teacher.

I think I've learned from my mistakes this time and I'm going to make sure there won't be a trilogy at Blaze of Glory V and you'll tell me which means for you, Jessie, that you're dreams of a triple crown will be delayed.

So the question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.

Su reina ha hablado!

Momento de claridad II: Ojos en el premio/Moment of Clarity II: Eyes on the Prize
2 de abril de 2016 ♦ S A N T A M O N I C A ,  C A L I F O R N I A

[At Blaze of Glory, there will be a few factions and tag teams, past and present, on the card. The Angel Clan, the Monstimals, The Nobodies, Team Hero. Missing from that group is perhaps the most notorious of them all and the stable that turned the Bombshells Division on its head, the Mean Girls. And yet this Sunday, the two surviving members of the infamous stable will be competing in title matches, yet we know that between Veronica and Mercedes, the former was successful because of the affiliation while Mercedes had found success in spite of them. Her joining magnified her earlier success exponentially, not to mention that she gained even more popularity becoming the group's cheerleader and spokesperson. But alas, all good things must come to an end.

The end, of course, happened more than one year ago at Blaze of Glory IV. Even today, the memory of that moment gave Mercedes nightmares, the length of which have kept her up at night. That she would be defending her Bombshell Internet Championship against Jessie Salco at Blaze of Glory V didn't improve her mood. Not because the former Metal and Punk Connection and now Angel Clan member wasn't a pushover, despite what her win loss record say on the contrary, but that everything that she worked for could come crashing down on her again at the biggest event of the year. And she couldn't allow that to happen again, she wouldn't. She wouldn't leave GCU Arena, the state of Arizona or the county line until her hand was raised. She wouldn't quit fighting until her last breath before that happened. That's how much she was  looking toward her sixth visit to Phoenix and returning to GCU Arena for the first time in more than two years.

[The scene opens up as we see the hands and partial arms of someone struggling with a webcam. After a few minutes, the person steps back, reaching out to adjust the device before looking back at the camera with a sidelong glance. Mercedes Vargas waves back at us. Wearing her brand new t-shirt (which you can purchase from Scw shop for $19.99), the Argentine is at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, California. In the background is the entrance to Frank Gehry's Santa Monica Place.
]

[REC]

Mercedes: Blaze of Glory V is almost here, in eight days, actually, and if you haven't already heard, Jessie Salco is my next challenger for the Bombshell Internet Championship. How exciting is that? Now, I'm no mind reader, but I bet you're probably wondering, 'OK, did Jessie earned a title shot? Did she win a contendership match?” No, she didn't. But I don't really mind. Like I said before, I'll take on anybody who wants a shot at my title and I never back down from a challenge. And if there is anyone who knows that, it's Jessie Salco.

[Mercedes lowers her eyes, shaking her head. She blinks a few times before taking a deep breath, seeing her breath in the cold air.]

Mercedes: You know, Jess, after Amy took her sabbatical, I thought you would be following her. But as it turns out, you're still here, plugging along, keeping your head above water in SCW and that's something to be admired. Melanie and Lucy took you in as one of their own in the Angel Clan and you've found your voice. But then, how can you lose something you've always had? On Twitter, you vowed that if you beat me, you would give Melody the first title shot and that's awesome. Who wouldn't want to see a match between you and Melly?Think of the ratings! It's just too bad that I'm going to have to spoil your plans, Jessie, because I'm not going to lose a third title match at Blaze of Glory and in fact, I don't plan to.

The Bombshell Internet Championship may be over a year old, but other than the one vacancy, the title's legacy is off to a good start. Roxi and Alexis had pretty impressive reigns with the Bombshell Internet Championship and I want to continue that trend of dominant champions. I get that you want to join Amy Marshall in winning the title, I get that you want to make it a clean sweep for the Clan, but if Melanie doesn't walk out as World Bombshell Champion, than the Angel Clan will be walking out empty handed at Blaze of Glory. And how do you think Alexis would feel if I lost my championship to you? She would be devastated. She would be embarrassed. I can't let her down and I hope you understand that.

[Mercedes lowers her eyes, shaking her head. She blinks a few times before taking a deep breath, seeing her breath in the cold air.]

Mercedes: You wouldn’t be able to live with the fact of losing to me again, Jessie. Hopefully, you made up for lost time since our first singles match. You'd better, or you're going disappoint a lot of people, including me.

[Mercedes bring her title into the shot, raising it in front of the camera.]

Mercedes: You want to make history at Blaze of Glory like Amy did, you'd better keep your eyes on the prize, or else it would be gone, just like that.

[Mercedes snaps her fingers after each word before placing her title over her shoulder.]

Mercedes: See you in eight days.

[Mercedes walks off into the day and our scene fades.]

RP Title: “One step closer to gold.”

Blaze of Glory was this week and the battle was on between Jessie Salco and the reigning Internet Champion Mercedes Vargas as they were set to battle for Mercedes’s Bombshell Internet Championship but whilst Jessie was determined to walk out of Phoenix with the title around her waist Mercedes was just as hungry to retain but can Jessie finally win a title?

Underground Fitness, Phoenix, Arizona
Friday the 8th of April 2016, 11:00am

I have a big weekend ahead of me and I need to be prepared.

Encase you’ve been living under a rock for the past two weeks Blaze of Glory is this weekend and I’m challenging for the SCW Bombshell Internet Championship against Mercedes Vargas at the biggest show of the SCW calendar and, well, if you’ve been paying attention to my recent segments and promos you’d know that I’m sick and tired of my recent losing streak and that losing in the first round of the Blast from the Past Tournament for the second year in a row was the straw that broke the camel’s back, granted I did get really unlucky as far as my first round draw goes since I was drawn against Keira Fisher and Lucian Frost (even if his identity was a mystery at the time) but still!

Tommy Knox said in the Hotwire that Mercedes will beat me, not the first time I made someone look stupid for betting against me and it won’t be the last!

As for what I’m up too, take a wild guess, I have a title match this Sunday and not only that but I’m facing someone who has held every title in SCW save for the World Bombshell Title so yeah, I’ve been training all week for the match, some days I was training with the other Angel Clan members and other days I’ve been training here in Underground Fitness in Phoenix, Arizona but the jist of it is that I’ve been training pretty intensely since Saturday night and I that was only after Jake found out about this place.

And off course I’m using metal as my workout music, were you expecting anything else?

“99……100.” I grunted as I finished my round on the weight machine and before you ask, no there’s not going to be a repeat of what happened the last time I was in a gym with Jake and Shane, unlike former members of the Mean Girls not named Mercedes I learn from my mistakes whether they be in the ring or out of the ring, anyway I dug out my IPhone and started looking for another song to play for my next workout set. “Cannibal Corpse, maybe not the best thing for hand weights.”

“Yeah or they’ll have to write a song called “Dumbbell Smashed Face” in your honor.” Jake joked as he looked up from the weight machine he was on and Shane looked up from the rowing machine. “So I heard Caleb’s signed up for PWU.”

“Yeah, I heard, mostly because of the fact that he namedropped me.” I commented as I scrolled through the songs, the guy we were talking about was Caleb Storms who you may remember as the guy who did the vid package for my match against Celeste. “Then again I was expecting it since I did help him get some info on Ryan Keys since he’s facing him in his debut match and all.”

“So wait, Ryan’s about to make his debut for two feds within a week of each other? That’s one busy exhibitionist.” Shane commented with a chuckle as he continued on the rowing machine. “Slightly off topic but did you catch the latest episode of the Hotwire?”

“Don’t you mean the first episode of the reboot?” I asked and Shane nodded. “Yeah I watched it before we came out, won’t be the first time I proved an idiotic wrong and it won’t be the last.”

“So you’re not that shaken up by the fact that he thinks that this match will end in Mercedes retaining the Internet Championship?” Jake asked as I started to play “Arise” by Sepultura and resumed on the weights this time shifting to my legs and I shook my head.

“Like I said, people have doubted me a lot since I entered the wrestling business mostly due to my short stature but the fact that I’ve had the success I’ve had in the ring proves them wrong, doesn’t it?” I asked and the boys nodded as I continued, since the song was a short one I figured I may as well play the whole album as it is an amazing album. “Granted my recent win/loss record does give him a lot of reasons to doubt me but that’s why I’ve been working out as hard as I have.”

“Yeah, before you know it you’ll have a body comparable to Natalie McKinley’s.” Shane commented before pausing for a moment. “Don’t know how I’d think about having a wife who’s more ripped than I am but still!”

“Yeah, especially when said wife is ten inches shorter than you!” I responded with a grin as I continued on the weights. “I guess it could be worse, I could be even shorter like four foot eleven.”

“I will admit that I’ve never met a twenty-five-year-old woman who was that tiny so that would be an interesting experience at least.” Shane responded with a laugh and I rolled my eyes, after a few minutes of working out Shane stood up from the rowing machine and wiped the sweat from his brow. “I’m off to get a drink then I’ll hop on the Treadmill, you guys coming?”

“Jessie still has her promo to do and I want to get more work done on the weights.” Jake responded as he motioned to the cameraman. “I know I can’t speak for Jessie but I’ll join you on the treadmill once I’m done here.”

“I’ll join you guys once I’m done with my promo.” I responded and Shane nodded before heading off to the treadmill without another word, I continued working out for a couple of minutes before I noticed that Jake was looking my way. “You’re not going to get on my case about pushing myself too hard again, are you?”

“Nah, I don’t want things to escalate like they did last time and besides, you’ve been working hard all week long so any nagging I could do would be a moot point.” Jake responded with a grin as I continued to work out. “And besides, even if you lose against Mercedes you probably lost a bit of weight in the process of working out for the match so there’s always that.”

“Considering that I weighed in at 120 the last time I weighed myself I’d be worried if I lost any weight.” I responded with a frown as I continued to work out. “I don’t want to end up being anorexic after all.”

“Even if you lost some weight this week I think you have a long way to go before you get anorexic, just saying.” Jake responded as he continued to work out. “I mean last I checked 120 was a fairly healthy weight for a petite woman like you.”

“I know but you do remember how skinny I was when I was adopted right?” I asked and Jake winced before nodding. “Granted that had a bit to do with the drugs that I was taking at the time but still.”

“Well that and the asshole dad who adopted you first.” Jake responded and I winced at that memory. “I still don’t know how CPS let that asshole adopt you in the first place but I digress, anyway how about we change the subject before things get too depressing.”

“Great idea.” I responded with a grin as I continued my workout. “So I think it’s pretty clear that Bloodstock doesn’t have many Main Stage slots left, any bands you’d like to see on the Sophie Stage?”

“A couple come to mind, namely Battle Beast and 1349, yes, even though they played last year’s Bloodstock.” Jake responded with a grin and I gave him a funny look. “Don’t worry, if they do get announced I’ll go out of my way to avoid Steve and his cronies, anyway what about next year’s Bloodstock?”

“Didn’t we go over our ideal headliners last week?” I asked and Jake nodded. “Yeah I think we agreed on Kreator, Blind Guardian and Cannibal Corpse.”

“I still think that Shane’s idea of Cannibal Corpse headlining is laughable, as much as I love them.” Jake responded as he finished on the weights and stood up. “Speaking of Shane, I’m off to join him on the treadmills, see you there.”

“See you there.” I responded before I stopped on the weights and took a swig from my water bottle, once Jake had joined Shane on the treadmills I decided to get started on my promo. “Blaze of Glory is two days away and whilst I’m sure that they’ll be a few moments of glory for several SCW Superstars and Bombshells there’s one that matters to me and that will be when I beat Mercedes for the Bombshell Internet Championship.”

I said as I leaned forward.

“I said last week what winning this match would mean for me and my career here in SCW so for a loudmouth internet DJ to say that Mercedes is going to retain is just laughable! I don’t know who this Tommy Knocks guy is or why Mark hired him to do the hotwire but he doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things, for one thing I sincerely doubt that Tommy Knocks will ever get inducted into the Hall of Fame but beside that it’s not exactly the first time I’ve been doubted and it won’t be the last but who knows? Maybe winning the Triple Crown will shut up morons like Tommy?”

Somehow I doubt it but surprises happen, anyway onto Mercedes.

“Before I left Las Vegas for Phoenix I decided to have a look at the betting average for the Blaze of Glory show just for kicks and whilst I won’t bore you with the betting averages for the other matches on the card I will focus on my match, after all, it is the relevant match here! The odds were one hundred to one in Mercedes’s favor and that only means one thing as far as I’m concerned, I’ll make a lot of enemies back in Vegas when I’ll beat Mercedes for the title.”

I’ll let you figure out the rest.

“Mercedes, the time for talk is almost over and whilst I’m sure that I’ll squeeze in some extra trash talk at Blaze of Glory in the form of a brief interview there’s only one way that this match will end and it’s not going to end with you retaining the title yet again before you ask! The only way this match will end is when I pin your shoulders to the matt for the three count and win the match on my own without outside interference and the only way I’m walking out of Phoenix will be with the Bombshell Internet Championship in my hands!”

It’s that simple.

“We’ve faced off several times in tag team competition Mercedes but this is the first time that we’ve faced off in singles competition and everyone and their mother is pretty much expecting us to tear the house down come Sunday night, that part is true but there’s one part that everyone and their mother is getting wrong in this match and that’s the fact that they are predicting that you’ll retain the title over me at Blaze of Glory, not the first time I’ve proven idiots wrong!”

And not the last.

“You see Mercedes to you this is just another title defense and this one doesn’t even have a story going into it unlike say, the SCW Roulette Championship Triple Threat Match between Josh, James and Steve, but to me this is more than just a title match, it’s a culmination of a three-year long journey that started when my SCW Bombshell Roulette Championship reign got cut short and it’ll end when I cut your reign short at Blaze of Glory.”

And there’s no one around to screw me over this time!

“Face it Mercedes, you may as well just hand over the SCW Bombshell Internet Championship to me this Sunday at Blaze of Glory and save us all the time, sure it would disappoint the fans that have been looking forward to this match since it was announced two weeks ago but think of it like this, there’s a YouTube Channel called “How It Should Have Ended” where they take popular movies and give them alternate and hilarious endings, the scenario I just described is like a “How It Should Have Ended” for this wrestling match only without a comedic element to it!”

It’s inevitable, just face the facts!

“Mercedes, you may have wrestled for longer than I have but I’ve never let that stop me from beating other women in the ring and occasional male competitor for that matter and I won’t let it stop me from beating you for the title either, ever since I sided with Amy over Keira and Roxi last year I haven’t exactly been mincing my words and this time is no exception, Mercedes, if you were as good as everyone says you are then you would’ve won the World Bombshell Title by now but you haven’t, need I say more?”

Nope because it’s time I wrapped things up!

“Mercedes, you may share the name with a car manufacturer but even the best cars in the world have been known to break down occasionally and at the end of this match it’ll be a car wreck to behold as I stand over you with the Bombshell Internet Championship in my hands having just given you the fight of your life and came out on top of the Bombshell Internet Division! This is the Heavy Metal Angel Jessie Salco signed off and the next time you see me in a promo will be when I am the new Bombshell Internet Champion!”

I went to join the boys on the treadmills as the scene fades.

[Open on Mercedes Vargas.  She’s in her workout attire, sprinting up a flight of stairs.]

It was almost here. Blaze of Glory V was less than a week away and almost everyone had either sent in their promotional material, making plans to arrive in Phoenix, or plan to do both in the days ahead. The fans were ready, the other wrestlers set to perform were ready, maybe Jessie Salco was ready, but was Mercedes Vargas? Was she ready, really ready? Ready to compete? Ready to give it her all? Ready to do whatever it takes to walk out of GCU Arena the same way she did back in 2014 with her hand raised? Does she look the part, prepared, determined, confident?

[Halfway up, her body gives out as she leans on the banister. Reaching the bottom of the stairs, she walks over and picks up her  Bombshell Internet Championship, checking her reflection.]

Blaze of Glory was looming.

She has to be ready.

[Close up images from a television reflecting off a pair of glasses. Mercedes is doing film study, jotting down notes in a legal pad. Boxes of Wheat Thins are seen stewn around her on the couch. She reaches for a handful from a bowl while watching a random match of Jessie's from 2014.]

Her strategy and gameplan Sunday? Flawless. The homework on her opponent? Mapped out to the very last detail.

Ready to prove them wrong. Ready for the unexpected.

Was she ready to bet on herself, to overcome the odds? Does she has the right frame of mind? Has she exorcised demons from the past two Blaze of Glory events?

[Watching both events were tough to watch, but she pulled through. If she wanted to succeed in the here and now, she had to learn from her past misttakes]

To be ready is to anticipate anything and everything: Any underhanded tricks Jessie might have up her sleeve...possible interference from the other two-third of The Angel Clan...a referee miscue....

Ready. Ready. Ready.

You think people can't tell the difference between who's ready and who's not? Of course they can. She's anticipated, prepared, focused and figured-out. She was ready to take on the world, to defend her title, to get down and dirty if necessary.

More important...

She was ready for Jessie Salco.

If the first defense is the hardest, does that make the second defense the easiest?

Some might say that Jessie Salco isn't an opponent to lose sleep over, but I can't afford to underestimate her. I've paid for that mistake many times over and all I was left with was egg on my face. Overconfidence is what led to Natalie McKinley ending my third Bombshell Roulette reign last year; it's what led to Traci Patterson and I losing our first World Bombshell Tag Title reign to The Freakettes and my first pinfall loss nine months after my debut.

It's why I'm 0-2 at Blaze of Glory instead of 2-0.

It's why the third time won't see me strike out in Phoenix; the third time will be the charm. Like every other champion set to defend, they'll try to psyche themselves out that everything will be okay. But the butterflies are still there, the nerves are working in overdrive. First defense or third, World Bombshell Tag Title or World Heavyweight Championship, the pressure is on.

Funny I wasn't like this when I'm chasing a title. Now I'm the one being chased. The thrill of the hunt is exciting and never gets old to me. I'm once again a champion for the first time in six months so it's a long time coming. Still as Sunday approaches, I can't help asking the one question everyone wants to know.

Who's the hunter and who's the game?

Momento de claridad IV: Ser joven no Es Ninguna Excusa Para Ser Estúpido/Being Young Is No Excuse For Being Stupid

[It was two weeks ago at Climax Control that Mercedes was pinned in the tag match when she and Jessie Salco lost to Melody Grace and Candy Overton. On paper, Mercedes and Jessie would give their opponents a tough test, but in reality, not even the unstable disconnect with her partner or Mark Ward's mind games could slow down Melody. Most would say that Mercedes seemed overmatched. The good news is she was still Bombshell Internet Champion.   The bad news is that she was still Bombshell Internet Champion..and now must prepare to put her title on the line at Blaze of Glory.

Known for the desert, cactus, heat, sunshine, golf, resorts and migrant labor, Arizona had a little bit of everything and nowhere was out of reach. California was four hours away, Vegas, Denver and Salt Lake City were nearby, and Mexico was a four hour drive by car.

As the sun sets here in Monument Valley straddling the Arizona/Utah border, the camera sweeps over gravity-defying rock formations casting its long shadows over the stunning red buttes that rises from the dusty ground. The camera pulls back from this image and we see Mercedes Vargas admiring the view with a pair of binoculars. As if on cue, she lowers her binoculars, yet doesn't yet face the camera.

[REC]

“I knew there was a reason to come back here. The view here is amazing.”

[As Mercedes  spoke, the breeze plays with her hair which causes her to continually keep strands of it from her face as she turns now towards the camera. She raises her sunglasses over her head.
]

Mercedes: So, this is it. The perfect storm. Two veterans of the sport are set on a collision course this Sunday. But what I can promise you that unlike the majestic scenary behind me, my match with Jessie Salco will be anything BUT a masterpiece or something you'll see in your brochure. No, our match will be competitive, it will be spirited, it might be downright ugly because we're both after the same thing. I have what Jessie wants. And if she wants to have her day in the sun in The Valley of the Sun, she needs to beat me, something she's never done before. To here her tell it, 2016 might be the year she actually does that and I'm not doubting her for a second that she'll make my next defense another tough out and I wouldn't have any other way.

[She didn't want her title defenses to be easy, that would go against everything she stood for in being a fighting champion. The Bombshell Internet Championship legacy was off to a good start and she wanted to continue that through her reign.]

Mercedes: I think you were trying to say that I can't hack it anymore in your video. But you know something, that's okay. When you've doing this for as long as I have, you have tough skin and it's not the first time I've been called old. Lizzie Short thought I was losing my touch, Joanne Canelli had the audacity to say I was going through a midlife crisis. And where exactly has that got them? Do you see  Lizzie around anymore? No. And I'm not expecting Joanne to walk back through that door. At least she went out a winner as the first-ever Bombshell Internet Champion, the prestigious championship you're after and have to beat me to win.

I won't be wrestling forever, Jessie, and one day the company will have to look to you and Melody and all the young talent on the roster to lead the next generation of stars. But uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but that whole argument doesn't hold much weight when I have defeated younger talent, including Alexis and yourself. So if I beat you again Sunday, Jessie, what will you say then when you get beat by someone who has one foot out the door? My resolve cannot be question when I've been successful since I first set foot in this company and more than likely will be a first ballot hall of famer.

For over two years, you have come to know me as one of the best in-ring competitors in the company. Notice I did not say Bombshell. Wrestlers, Jessie. I'm actually a big fan of yours. I think you're a great wrestler, so I was really disappointed when I heard that. Being young is no excuse for being stupid.

I said I'd fight anyone put in front of me and that's who I have. So, Jessie Salco, come on down. You want my title, come and get it. But I want you to know that you have a tall order. I'm at the top of my game and I have an amazing resolve behind me. I'm ready to defend the Bombshell Internet Championship and just like my first defense with Melanie Gabrielle, I will fight to my last breath before you take this title away. Jessie, at Blaze of Glory V, it will be Mercy 2, Angel Clan 0. And while I already know the score, you won't get the chance to even it. Unless, of course...

[She lets the words hang in the air.]

Mercedes: No tiene pelos en la lengua. Crees que esttoy pleno apogeo? Tres palabras simples - Demuéstrenmelo.

["I don't mince words. You think I'm past my prime? Three simple words - Prove me wrong."]

[Fade.]
