 This is the story of Ethan

Sweetwater, Texas

Pulling up to the Nolan County Coliseum Complex in his trademark black mustang, custom built as it roars to a halt, stepping out of his car and shutting the door behind him. Ethan Brody takes his sunglasses off and hangs them on his black t-shirt, placing his keys into the pocket of his leather jacket, sliding both hands into his denim jeans as he makes his way inside the old building.

The reason he is here today is to complete his takeover of a local wrestling promotion, Outlaw Championship Wrestling, having read the opportunity on Twitter and having prelim discussions with the departing promoter. Ethan had come here to sign documents to confirm his involvement with the company, along with a current OCW wrestler by the name of Jim Pathos, it was something he’d always wanted to do and this would be a valuable learning curb.

Ethan’s phone vibrates in his inside pocket, pulling it out to see a text from Landon, he doesn’t bother opening it as he slides it back into his pocket. Axel wanted to help but this is something Ethan had to do for himself. If Landon cut short his tour of Japan to aid Ethan and it folded, a prime opportunity for his partner would be squandered in the Far East, plus the favouritism argument would come into play knowing certain wrestlers ethos.  If the OCW succeeded then potentially Axel could come in but Ethan won’t have his friend tainted by this business venture.

Ethan walks down a hallway to see a man wearing a suit and holding folders under his right arm.

Man
You must be Ethan.

Extending his hand out towards Ethan, who does the same courtesy as they shake hands, the man indicates with his free hand to go into the empty room to his right. Ethan walks in and sits down on one of the padded chairs, the man in the suit shuts the door, walks around Ethan and the table and sits adjacent to him, placing the files down on the desk and getting them into some sort of order.

Man
My name is Michael Kerr, I’m the advocate of Mister Scott Holliday, the owner and founder of the OCW, Outlaw Championship Wrestling.

Ethan nods his head.

Michael Kerr
I’m fascinated in how you came into the equation, Mister Brody, as this was initially an in-house offer.

Ethan pulls out his cellular phone and places it on the desk.

Ethan Brody
Social media is something that is considered a natural occurrence in modern society nowadays, people wondering around holding phones up instead of social interaction, sharing feelings and opinions via tapping a screen with the tips of their thumbs instead of voicing them vocally. I cannot understand this. Call me old fashioned, if you will.

Ethan points to the phone.

Ethan Brody
That is how I found out as the promotor used this platform to offer the OCW to every tom, dick and harry. I simply replied and managed to convince Holliday that I’m the right man to take over.

Ethan picks his phone up and places it back into his pocket.

Ethan Brody
We have had Direct Message conversations, or DM’s as they’re abbreviated as, which has led to me being here to make it official for the new year.

Michael smiles as he pulls out the paperwork from one file.

Michael Kerr
Excellent. I’m sure you’re aware of the agreement with Boardwalk Wrestling?

Ethan looks slightly confused.

Ethan Brody
Go on..

Michael Kerr
Ah.. My client didn’t mention this. I hope…

Michael nervously takes his pen out of his breast pocket and places it down on the document before him.

Michael Kerr
…I hope this doesn’t deter you. BUT. Boardwalk Wrestling and OCW have come to an agreement to be a territory promotion under their banner. Basically a promotion that’ll feed the next generation of BW wrestlers.

Michael tries to read Ethan’s expressions to get nothing.

Michael Kerr
Boardwalk Wrestling is based in Atlantic City, New Jersey..

Ethan Brody
Geography isn’t their strong suit then?

Michael Kerr
They wanted a promotion that isn’t in close proximity but we can go into the finer details of that deal in due course. Mister Pathos has already signed his part of this contract and only needs your signature. Did you want to read through the document, Mister Brody, or have a legal representative go through it to make sure everything is in order?

Ethan leans across the table and grabs the document and pen, scanning through the contract, flicking several papers over before signing on the appropriate places, sliding both pen and paper across the desk to Michael.

Michael Kerr
Congratulations, Mister Brody, on being the new face of the OCW. I cannot wait to see you on Showdown.

Ethan gets up from his chair, pulling out a cigar from his inner pocket, Michael reaches into his trouser pocket and pulls out a metal lighter.

Michael Kerr
Here…

Ethan shakes his head as he pulls out a box of matches, sparking one match to light, puffing on the cigar until properly lit as he circulates the smoke around his mouth slowly and exhales in Michael’s general direction.

Ethan Brody
A good quality cigar needs a cedar wood match for the aroma and pure pleasure of taste.

Michael fans the smoke away before extending his hand out to complete the deal, Ethan looks down at it as he inhales the next puff from his cigar, smiles as he walks out of the office blowing the smoke upwards as the door slams shut behind the new part owner of OCW.

March 2015
Washington DC

Ethan Brody steps into his makeshift office and closes the door, flicking the light switch on and walks behind his desk and sits down onto his leather chair, resting his right foot onto his left thigh as he lets out an exhausting yawn. Setting up a wrestling promotion from the ground up was more difficult than he had thought.

The involvement of Boardwalk Wrestling in OCW, the owner Scott Holliday’s dealings behind the scenes and destroying the relationship in the wider wrestling community, left Ethan Brody leaving behind OCW and been given an opportunity with Capital City Wrestling. Weeks upon weeks of sealing venue’s around the District of Columbia area, hiring all aspects of workers from journalists to ring crew, hiring local talent and former OCW wrestlers and UWL talent for it’s very first show. Ethan opens the top door of his desk, pulling out a bottle of bourbon and a glass, pouring the amber liquid in and taking a long sip before sitting back in the chair and gazing up to the ceiling.

The door crashes against the wall as police officers storm into the office, guns pointing towards Ethan Brody, who just he takes another sip from his glass as the detective walks in and stands before Ethan.

Detective
Ethan Brody, I am placing you under arrest for the crime of fraud and money laundering..

Ethan lowers his glass onto the table.

Ethan Brody
Are you shitting me?

Detective
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have an attorney present during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you.

A couple of Police officers walk around the desk, about to place their hands underneath the arms of Ethan, who quickly stands up and yanks his arms out of their grip.

I’m entitled to my opinion and my opinion of this is that it’s fucking bullshit.

The police men use force as they push Ethan down face first onto his desk, the glass getting knocked over and the liquid spilling over the wooden surface, the policemen lift Ethan up as he looks very disheartened at the spilt drink.

Ethan Brody
The real crime is what you’ve just done to my drink!

Detective
I suggest you be quiet.

The police forcible move Ethan around the desk and march him out of his office. The detective picks up the bottle and smells it, checking behind him to see if anyone is looking, he takes a quick swig from the bottle before following the officers out of the room and towards the exit.

Over the next few days Ethan is interrogated by the detective, as well as other law officials offering deals, Ethan refuses to answer anything and the court date pushed forward. Sentenced within a few hours and is taken to prison for crimes he didn’t commit.

Present Day
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic

Ethan Brody stands at the window of his hotel room just gazing at the city before him, several stories up just looking at the gorgeous Santo Domingo, the SCW Tag Team Championship reflects in the window that distracts Brody’s concentration.  Landon Axel hadn’t been like Ethan, who wanted to rest, Landon has gone out to explore his current surroundings prior to Climax Control. Ethan sits down on the edge of the bed, picking the World Tag Team Championship belt up from duvet, gazing at the main plate and the engraved name of ‘Brody’ near the bottom of the belt. Brody drapes the championship over his shoulder, pulling out his cell phone and switching the camera on so it faces him, he taps record as Ethan clears his throat.

Modern technology escapes me at times. Landon is often doing things on twitter and I try to get by, but with the new age of doing ‘blogging’ or ‘vloging’ I’ve decided to do this very shoddy video on my phone, Landon will probably upload it for me, but let’s try to keep up with the times as it’s been a whirlwind few weeks.

Ethan coughs, reaching over to grab a bottle of water, unscrewing the cap and taking a few mouthfuls before putting the top back on.

In life we learn from our mistakes and one of my mistakes cost me many months of my life. Stupid fool I was as I was used as a pawn in a game of lies. No, I’m not talking about our crusade against the Monstimals, I’m talking about running a wrestling promotion and a successful one at that. I neglected the legality of it, allowed a joke of a man to do business dealings and get my name tarnished by his deceitful and illegal doings. I suppose that is why my dislike for Mark Ward’s abuse of power comes from. I never did get the chance to have a proper go at running a promotion, along with my other business ventures, but my opponent this week knows how to run a successful promotion whilst competing in an a bigger promotion than his own. The supposed dominant Roulette Champion, Goth.

Ethan takes the World tag Team Title off his shoulder and places it on his thigh.

Last Sunday I travelled to Switzerland. I was there to watch Casey Williams wrestle Alicia Perry for the Extreme Hardcore Championship, I stayed to watch the whole show, Adam Reinhart retaining his United States Championship, Jayden Hunter also retaining against CJ and then the MAIN EVENT. A new Universal Champion.. but you already know that, Goth. You were also there. Gary Malone was robbed through a tazer gun at your hand. A power hungry owner getting his own way, that does sound familiar, a power hungry owner who wants his own champions… I’ve seen that before. WAIT. Goth and Mark Ward have so much in common it’s unreal. Asylum Wrestling Alliance may have a new champion, Choas, but that didn’t happen for your friend Lord Raab did it a week previously. Raab losing to Drake and I hate to say it, but I did say that by the end of the night, Guns for Hire and Drake Green would be standing in the ring, holding the World SCW championships in the air and that is exactly what we did!

Ethan slaps the main plate of the championship.

Maybe I’ll make an offer to "Devastator" Jason Perry to come to Dominican Republic with Gary Malone in toe as our match is going to be wrestled under street fight rules, let the AWA have their chance for redemption, but your little place is getting far too much exposure, more than it deserves and I think I should stop talking about it as most of the talent it has had has come to SCW. Kain, Sinful Obsession and Casey Williams to name just a few. Insignificant, just like the monstimals, you may have wrestled and beaten a lot of people, I have as well, but it won’t matter who you’ve beaten, what championships we’ve held and what promotions we’ve run when we stand face to face. Our war may have been forged by two men, Drake and Mark, but it’ll be a war of attrition and blood will be spilt. I don’t care if it’s my own, a fight is a fight, and the chance to hurt Goth, the Roulette Champion and Mark Ward is something I’m going to enjoy immensely. Second show in a row where the ACW originals stand tall with our arms raised in the air, Mark Ward will be powerless to do anything about it, Drake Green is the World Champion and we’re going to rid the parasites one man at a time.

I personally don’t care who it is. Samuel, Raab, Goth or anyone else thrown in, Guns for Hire is a force to be reckoned with and Goth you’ll find this out first hand at the end of Climax Control. It might be a little pre-emptive to assume that this is a hostile takeover but you had this coming, Mark, you had this coming when you decided to do what you did. Karma… I’m going to hurt Goth, chew him like a chew toy and making the dominant Roulette Champion look like a flimsy rag doll.

Ethan turns the phone back around.

When people look back at the history of SCW they’ll see the downfall of Mark Ward and the men who created that towering inferno, the men who did what so many people couldn’t do in a wrestling ring, bring down Hot Stuff and leave him nursing his wounded ego. For too long he’s been liking himself like he’s made from chocolate, Lord Raab had his World Title reign cut short and soon Goth will suffer the fate. And you can all thank Mark Ward! I’ll see you, Goth, in our street fight.

Ethan taps the stop button and throws the phone onto the bed, along with the world tag team championship. Ethan stands up and stares upon the custom made poster and remember the chant at the end of High Stakes.
