Disillusion and Family
« on: June 29, 2018, 10:10:27 AM »
The tour was in full swing, and to be pretty honest, me, ,Os and the girls have been seeing places we didn't expect. Who knew America down in the south was full of proper backwards towns where asking about wifi only got you a questioning look and thoughts that you were just making things up. I know we haven't been on the shows a lot lately, well, there's a reason behind all that to be honest. There's actually sod all for us to do on there at this point. For champions, we seem a little like the odd ones out. We see why we are. Jessie thought she was gonna be a champion, unlucky love, so she wouldn't let things go with Amy, when she realized she wasn't getting a shot at the belts again, ever, she focused on Amy, taking away a chance for Amy and Wyatt to actually have a good old fashioned rivalry with the champs. With The Seraphinas fuck knows where, we're the odd team out.

The guys knew this, it was disheartening to work hard for very little reward, so we tried a different tactic, we sat off the screens to see if someone would call us absent champions, nope, didn't work, we had to try something else new, calling out people on social media, nothing. Very disappointing.

"Seriously Danny." Mackenzie voice can be heard saying. "Why do we bother?"

It was a valid question as the group of four sit on a rooftop terrace in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a place seem on many television shows, a setting for many movies, it's place everyone at some point would love to be. They can't be blamed cause at this early morning time, a brass band was already playing in the distance and the crowds were already bustling through the streets below them. New Orleans had a vibe different from most places, it instantly gave you a feeling of home, a relaxed home, not a home full of anger and jockeying for dominance. It also had a constant party vibe, almost as if to say if you can't be happy in New Orleans, you can't be happy anywhere else in the world.

It's weird, but every passing face Daniel and the group looked down on from their higher vantage point, had a smile on, nothing like the big stressful cities everyone knew where people had faces like thunder and a mood to match. New Orleans was special, almost magical.

"Well Daniel?" Charlotte prompts.

Daniel looks up from his coffee cup, looking around the group, his suit covered body shifting in his chair to see Charlotte to his left, Mackenzie to his right, and Osbourne sitting directly in front of him, each with a beverage of choice in front of them. Osbourne looks across at Daniel, his sunglasses covered eyes also asking the same question as the woman, without uttering a word as he reaches for a tall glass of orange juice. Daniel moves his head from left to right, looking at the three in turn.

"It's a good question." Daniel admits. "I mean when you look at it, first time around, SCW was full of people with bollocks, full of people willing to step up. Now all we got is Crystal Hilton, Christina Rose, whatever her name is this week, and Jessie Salco basically on their knees begging for shots. I don't like that at all, hate it, it's privileged without working, but there's people on the roster who deserves shots that ain't even trying to get in the title frame because they don't wanna be put in the same light as those two."

Daniel reaches down to his coffee cup, placing his fingers through the handle and lifting it to his lips.

"Well who does deserve something?" Charlotte asks.

Daniel takes a sip of his coffee before placing it back down on to the table.

"Mercedes Vargas." Daniel says with confidence in his voice. "Now if Mercedes Vargas could find herself a tag team partner, and who wouldn't want to team with her? If she could find someone, she'd deserve a shot."

"Cause she wins every match she's in..." Mackenzie says with a sarcastic tone.

Daniel raises a finger to Mackenzie.

"She works hard and she doesn't get on her knees like Salco and Hilton to get a shot at anything." Daniel tells her. "She puts the effort in, never misses a match and can work with anyone. Now if she can get someone to team with, she'll be worthy of a shot. Maybe with that pretty fella, or even Caleb Storms... I mean he was told rematch clauses mean shit lately, no doubt he'll be sniffing around other gold at some point soon."

"You can't be serious!" Mackenzie says surprised "The guy isn't good enough for any level title. Fucking Jessie Salco rip off and if he sees this, he'll make a challenge."

A smile crosses Charlotte's face as she looks across the table to Mackenzie.

"Judging by his insistence the other week that Ben Jordan actually asked for a Roulette championship match and he didn't." Charlotte starts. "I don't think he watches too much outside of his own stuff, probably on a loop."

The group may not have been on the shows lately, yet they have been keeping up to date with everything. It was one of the first lessons taught to the group by Gabriel and Odette, know everything about where you work, learn about each and every person you may come in contact with. Sadly, it seems that the rest of SCW were not trained in the right way. If only they were, they might not be lazy when it comes to working.

Daniel tilts his head to the left, shrugging just his left shoulder.

"Maybe someone will tell him about the name drop and he'll use it as an excuse to take a run at us." Daniel says calmly. "If he does, he won't stand much of a chance. it's like someone started training him, gave up half way through and he decided that was good enough."

Daniel takes a deep breath, running his hand down his chin.

"I tried to drum up some interest on Twitter." Daniel tells them "Challenged former SCW people and couldn't even get a bite from them."

"The Jessie Salco Effect." Charlotte says "No one wants to look title hungry because of her. Like you said, people will think they're just like her."

"Exactly." Daniel agrees.

"Surely the staff should get off their arses and do something." Mackenzie says firmly. "Fuck, they dug up Drake Green to go against Crimson. Telling me they can't go and find two people to face us?"

Mackenzie reaches for her glass of water in front of her, looking at Daniel for answers.

"Who knows." Daniel says. "Maybe it's because of the tour, they're busy or something. I don't know. Either way, we don't have to sit there and wait for a chance, we're gonna create a chance if we can."

"You know they're just gonna throw us in the expected Punkins/Hell Raisers match at the supercard." Charlotte says "They'll have nothing better to do, so we get thrown in to something we have no interest in."

Daniel takes a deep breath, he knew that it was a possibility that lack of competition would mean this was a real possibility. Daniel hated the thought, he hate the idea of that possible match, he had done since he worked it out weeks ago. It wasn't tough to see how things were booked for supercards, yet had zero interest in being a part of the Santino Salco drama, nor did he feel Salco warranted a chance to be in a championship match. Come to think of it, he didn't feel Wyatt or Acquin had done much to earn that right, but he knew there was a high chance this could happen.

"I would hope that some one in the office will have a better idea." Daniel says honestly. "I think a match like that for us would be the final straw."

It was sad, but it was the truth. Daniel knew the group had worked hard to find their own opponents, they got Natalie McKinley and Lowri Moss in an SCW ring for Full Circle. They tried to goad Alice Knight and Griffin Hawkins in to an SCW ring again. The last thing they wanted to be was embroiled in that built up mess that is Santino and Salco.

"I'd rather piss off and be somewhere, where we don't have to deal with this shit alone." Mackenzie says, folding her arms.

"And go against the major plan?" Charlotte asks her from across the table.

"No one says we have to stay with SCW to do that." Mackenzie says "We just have to be entertainers, we just have to be in another wrestling fed, based in Vegas to make things easier."

Mackenzie had a point, the group knew it. They could continue their ultimate goal of swimming in Vegas money without being in SCW.

"Loyalty Kenz." Daniel reminds her. "It goes a long way. They have been good to us, so we gotta give them a chance to redeem themselves and find us some decent opposition for Summer XXXTreme that doesn't involve a cowboy, a porn star, a beggar and.... well, whatever Acquin is meant to be."

Charlotte reaches for a coke on the table, drinking from it before placing it back on the table. She looks towards Daniel.

"Are we even gonna be on the show this week?" She asks. "Or should we just skip back to Vegas after dinner with Devona?"

"You know what?" Daniel says, ready to admit something. "I haven't even looked at the latest card."

Daniel reaches in to his pocket, quickly pulling out his phone and tapping away at it.

"I'm surprised they remember we're even on the roster." Mackenzie says with a tone of sarcasm.

Daniel raises an eyebrow as he looks at the screen, leaning back in his chair as he glances his eyes around the group. A sudden hush falls over the three as they look expectantly towards Daniel. He looks at Mackenzie.

"Looks like they haven't forgotten about us just yet Kenz." Daniel says before looking around the group. "Looks like we have a title defence on Sunday so we will be in New Orleans a little longer than you thought."

"Please not Salco." Mackenzie says with her eyes shut and slowly breathing deeply.

"No." Daniel tells her. "Not Salco."

"The Country Punkins?" Charlotte asks

"The Country Punkins." Daniel confirms.

An simultaneous eye roll comes from both women as they look away but a smile crosses Daniel's face.

"Is Wyatt Peterson even here anymore?" Charlotte asks?

"I would presume so." Daniel says dryly. "Probably took some time to mourn his horse or something."

"That feels like forever ago." Mackenzie comments.

"It was" Daniel adds "But you know how people get over animals."

Daniel was, much to the surprise of many that knew him, had a soft spot for animals. He wasn't to the extreme of his trainers, Gabriel and Odette Stevens, who literary had a zoo in the back garden, but he was the live and let live kinda guy with animals.

"But let's be honest about it, this is a bog standard defence." Daniel tells them. "They won last week against The Seraphinas', so they was obviously gonna jump ahead of Acquin and Salco, we figured out those two teams will be kicking the shit out of each other at the supercard, we knew they would not let The Country Punkins do double duty to face us and the piss poor named Hell Raiser at the supercard and would more likely sling us in a match with them both. At some point, they were always gonna try and get our belts in to that rivalry to turn it in to a triple threat thing to give a reason for us to be there. It was pretty standard that we would have to face one of them and as last week, The Country Punkins went ahead in the race by winning a match, makes sense they're the ones to try and take out titles to try and force us in to a triple threat match."

Sound logic maybe? Was Daniel clutching at straws or did he really have an idea on how the bosses minds and SCW really worked? Looking at it, it would seem like sound strategy from the powers that be. Try and get the belts in to an actual rivalry, while the champions, who everyone seemed to avoid was sitting on their thumbs.

"Well if that's the case." Mackenzie starts. "I think we should piss on their cornflakes."

"And that will be the plan." Daniel tells the group "Let's really make them think about everything here and get us in a match without the drama. Although the drama is a very good way to distract."

"How so?" Charlotte asks.

A confident smile crosses over Daniel's face as he looks around the table at the four.

"Simple." He starts. "We all know what Jessie Salco is like, we've seen it. Sneak attack after sneak attack, after sneak attack on Amy. One dressed as a mouse for fucks sake, a fucking mouse. Last week too. We know for a fact Jessie is gonna try and steal the limelight, will probably attack one of you two, to try and provoke us in to challenging her, i.e, worming her way in for another title shot. Now Amy is a lot of things, but she ain't a mug. She's gonna know that big ray of sunshine is gonna be around, she knows that somewhere in the match, she will appear and try and dictate the result. I reckon Amy knows that Salco is going to attack us too to get us pissed at her."

"if she does think that she can attack us, she's a fucking idiot." Mackenzie tells her

"Impossible." Charlotte tells her. "They'll be two of us in the ring, two outside. She wouldn't get near the ring with us let alone put her mitts on us."

"Bang on" Daniel says. "But trust me, she will try. Amy knows this, she will have one eye on the outside at all times."

"It's not like Jessie mixes things up" Mackenzie says. "She is basically instructions on a shampoo bottle, wash, rinse and repeat. Everything she does is the same."

"And she's attacked a few times already, and will do again." Charlotte says.

"Wash, rinse, repeat." Mackenzie reilliterates.

"Precisely." Daniel agrees. "So she will do it again, Amy will be more than a little distracted by it all so unfortunately for Wyatt, the battle is already lost."

Daniel turns his head to look at the camera.

"Sorry cowboy." Daniel says with a smile. "You've lost this before you even pull on those boots and get in the ring. You've lost this cause the lack of focus from your partner has put a very swift end to this one before it's even really begun."

Daniel pauses for just a second.

"It's a bloody shame Wyatt, cause I don't actually dislike you." Daniel says down the camera. "You got the cowboy manners of respect and the hard work ethic, I can respect that, I respect it a lot but unfortunately, you're lumbered with a partner who has other things... or people I should add on their mind and being focused is half the battle. Now we only found out about this match a few minutes ago, yet instantly, a game plan is forming, focus is forming. Already in Osbourne's mind, he's working out which one of us is best to take you on, he's not saying it but he knows."

Daniel smirks towards the emotionless Osbourne before turning back towards the camera.

"It's all up there turning in to a winning performance." Daniel tells the camera. "Thing is Wyatt, regardless of the situation, we switch the focus on in a heartbeat, the mind instantly goes on to the job in hand, but you gotta have a few butterflies right now. It's safe to say neither you nor Amy was at your best last time out, you were both lacking a certain something, but you got away with it. This time around, you're not gonna be so lucky my old son. You're not gonna stumble across a couple of mugs that ain't up for a row. You're coming up against champions, people who are used to the pressure, people who know how to pick apart people not on their game and you are so far off your game, while people are playing Monopoly, you're off playing Clue."

Daniel can't help but smile at his comment before continuing to speak.

"And ya sitting there with a partner who's more worried about where Salco will strike next, then how the hell to get these championships out of our hands." Daniel says with a sincere tone. "I almost feel like this match is irrelevant because it's so one sided. Anyone betting on you to actually beat us, will know the feeling of betting on a three legged horse. We're in a town of blues and jazz mate, and the blues is something you will be drowning your sorrows to a little bit after our match cause once again, you would have failed to do what you stuck around to do. You would have that bitter feeling again, that familiar wrenching of your guts, knowing that once again, you've come up short and I suspect through no fault of your own really. That's the beautiful thing about being in a proper team like us. It's not a thrown together name, and a few moves, work on an entrance with a relative stranger. It's about knowing who you're in the ring with, who has your back, knowing their strengths and weaknesses, spending time around them to know who they really are. That's not something you have, is it, mate?"

Daniel slowly shakes his head.

"Not even close." Mackenzie comments.

"Correct." Daniel says. "Not even anywhere near close. While we've been doing the tour thing Wyatt, where have you been? I'd take a punt and say you flew in for this last show after being off for a couple of weeks doing your own thing. Couple of weeks not taking too much notice of anything going on, couple of weeks of relaxing while everything moved past you? That my old son is a missed opportunity. You could have not took that time off and learned a little about who you're teaming with, got to know her a little better than you do, instead of swanning off and doing your own thing. It would have made things a little more interesting when it got to this point and you got a championship match. I mean that's what you've been building to, right? You stuck around to try and get hold of these belts and you've done little to show your stock. You don't know your partner well enough to keep her focused, you looked out of sorts in the ring on Sunday, had a fair bit of damage to that leg of yours, so you gotta look at yourself and ask that question, how do you really rate your chances?"

Daniel waits for a few seconds.

"I mean you're not one of those dumb redneck boys, there's a few live brain cells knocking around your head." Daniel says. "If you were looking at us in the same situation, a guy who's been away for a few weeks, don't know their partner that well, looked shaky on a return and got a leg booted to smithereens, how would you rate our chances of beating you? I don't think you'd give us too much hope against you, would you?"

Daniel shakes his head firmly.

"I think you'd already think this is in the bag and all you gotta do is show up, right?" Daniel asks. "All ya need to do is walk out there and it's yours for the taking. See, looking at you, that's pretty much how we see this at the moment. You got a distracted partner and mate, no offence but you ain't kicked off that ring rust, and a week throwing yourself around, or hanging out with your partner ain't gonna change a lot."

He shrugs his shoulders.

"I just wish I could sit here and say this is a warm up for something." He admits "But fuck knows what's planned for us at Summer XXXTreme but I do know regardless of what's planned, we won't be going in to Summer XXXTreme chasing the titles we have now, we'll be going in to Summer XXXTreme as champions and praying to god we don't get thrown in the shit storm your partner and her former best friend, yet co star in another XXX adventure, has created."

Daniel leans back in his chair.

"I welcome the competition that you will bring Wyatt." Daniel starts "But I don't think it's gonna be enough to do anything to get you closer to your dream of having our championships, it's not gonna get you what you want unfortunately. You and your partner are just not ready."

Daniel leans forward in his chair, looking intensely down the camera.

"And you should know me by now Wyatt, what I say, goes. I don't deal in bullshit." He says confidently "Just facts."

He nods his head and looks either side of him, first to Charlotte, then to Mackenzie.

"You two wanna take it from here while the camera is still about?" He says with his hands out.

The camera moves around to Mackenzie to continue....

Mackenzie looks down the camera, her haired neatly tied back as the sun beats down on the table the four sit around. She tilts her head slightly to the right.

"Amy Santino..." She says firmly. "Chance two for you but everything Daniel has said is true. The match is already lost for you because you're seeing Jessie everywhere you go. She's got in to your head and she's not leaving any time soon, is she? I mean come on, how many fucking times do you have to sit there and know she's not gonna leave you alone, that she is gonna appear and try and take you out? It doesn't take a fucking genius to work out that she's gonna do it again this week, because she is fucking predictable. Are you that stupid that you can't see the way to end this is to just end her? She's happy with the sneak attacks, you should do the same, sneak up on her while she's in another steak restaurant and stick a fucking fork in her eye or something, put her out of the game for good. Instead of sitting there trying to figure out what footage you're gonna splice in to your promo, and I'm guessing it's gonna be around about where Wyatt tells you to watch out, and you get one over on her, go make a bold fucking move. Until you do something like that, you are forever gonna be looking over your shoulder, you will forever be unfocused and you will forever be someone who couldn't beat us."

Mackenzie clenches her jaw as she looks down the camera.

"I know you've probably had your head banged off too many headboards to sit there and think of things like this, that's why people need to spell it out for you." Mackenzie say seriously. "Every time you step in that ring, you step in there putting yourself in danger, and not because this ain't a fucking dance competition, but because you're looking around the crowd, looking for when someone is about to take you out. The only reason you got away with shit last week was because Claudia Seraphina ain't a wrestler, fuck knows what she is but she sure as shit ain't a wrestler, and you had cowboy Joe spot her before you did. Other than that, you'd be fucked again and not in a good way."

Mackenzie turns her head towards Osbourne.

"What I mean by that is..." Mackenzie says to him. "Ah nevermind."

She waves he hand towards him, causing him to grit his teeth before she looks back at the camera.

"You're a liability every time you step in the fucking ring Amy." Mackenzie tells her with venom in her voice. "You really shouldn't be there, fuck, you shouldn't even really be in SCW, you're nowhere near as good as you used to be and fuck it, we know. During training, we watched tapes of you while we learned how to face anyone, no matter what their style and you used to be worth something, your name used to be worth something but it's worth nothing. While people have a hole in their arses, you will never repeat what you've done in the past, and you won't be the first to be someone who has held every possible title, because you sure as shit ain't getting your spunk covered hands on our belts."

Daniel leans back in his chair at the last comment and looks across at Osbourne.

"There's something you don't hear every day." Daniel says with half a smile.

Mackenzie turns her head towards Daniel.

"Please..." Mackenzie says smugly. "It's probably from multiple fellas anyway, but my point remains the same, not getting her hands anywhere near them. She is a shell of who she used to be, nowhere near as good."

Mackenzie turns her face towards the camera.

"Ain't that right, Amy?" Mackenzie asks "I'm on to you without even fucking trying. Amy Santino is here because of the titles we have. She wants to be known as the first woman to be a grand slam plus one champion, but that is not gonna happen while we're here. You've seen other grand slam champions and you know, male or female, you're the worst of the bunch and you're trying to out do them all by jumping in and trying to take these belts. Keep dreaming sweetheart, you're not gonna get these belts, but I will tell you what you are gonna get and you're not gonna like it."

Mackenzie cracks her knuckles, pushing her left hand over her right hand.

"You're gonna get fucking hurt." Mackenzie tells her. "Seriously fucking hurt. Jessie Salco hasn't put you down yet, but she did put you in a position that is gonna get you hurt without raising a hand to you. The Seraphinas' if they had any sense in their heads, would have took you out last week, they failed to get that job done. We won't fail to get that job done, because if you just happen to be standing in the ring opposite me, you're gonna get hurt. I ain't fucking around, you're gonna get hurt. While you'll looking through the crowd for a giant mouse, or whatever Miss Uncreative wants to come up with next, I'll be focused to rip your arms off and beat ya round the head with them. Or take away your knee and do SCW a favour by getting rid of you once and for all Amy. Go do what so many others here are doing and train a replacement, cause people are tired of seeing you. How long is it gonna be before everyone turns there back on you? How many times are people gonna want to watch you fail over and over and over again trying to get something that's not meant to be yours?"

Mackenzie looks further in to the camera, almost like her narrowed eyes are splitting through the lense.

"Our championships, they're never meant to be yours and they won't be yours." Mackenzie says coldly. "It's gonna take a lot better person than you to get them off of us, much bigger, much better, and not so past it people to get the belts of us. You've got no fucking chance at all Amy. Time to accept it now, because you and this title, will never be together."

Mackenzie points to Charlotte.

"Take it from here." She tells her. "I can't be bothered to talk about that waste of space anymore."

Charlotte nods as the camera turns around to face her, her hair, like Mackenzie's, is neatly tied back and away from her face.

"I think Amy must be sensing a trend here." Charlotte says matter-of-factly. "People just simply wanna kick her arse. I mean she hasn't done much to me, but even I wanna kick her arse. Something about you Amy, something about your intentions here that doesn't ring true, but at least you know who the strongest team in the division is. There's a reason that we are the strongest team in the division Amy. We defeated every other team mentioned, two of those teams with a third team involved, you and Wyatt, we defeated you all. We defeated Casey Williams and Dani Weston too, so what in your right mind makes you think that you two have grown enough to actually make things different this time around? I mean judging by your rankings of teams, sticking the Seraphinas' as the weakest team in the division, which yes, we agree on, and them being the only team that you've actually beat, what make you think that you now have what it takes to beat us?"

Charlotte pauses for a second.

"I'm presuming you rate yourself as team number two behind us?" She asks. "I mean you wouldn't admit weakness compared to Jessie and Joshua, or Dani and Casey, correct?"

Charlotte nods her head, as if to answer for Amy.

"What have you ever done to put yourself there?" Charlotte asks. "On what planet do you rate yourself as the second best team there? The truth is, none of you have done a damn thing to put yourself there and that thing you called a promo last week couldn't sell a damn thing, you couldn't sell an ice cream to someone in one hundred degree heat! I seriously hope you do a better job this week, I really do, or people will be out of the arena quicker than a Germany world cup team."

The rivalistic dig from Charlotte, born out of being English, and Germany exiting the World Cup sooner than expected, brings a smile to the group.

"Amy, you're meant to get people interested in a match." Charlotte tells her. "Judging by your effort last week, it wouldn't get a kid interested in watching a cartoon. The only reason people are gonna be watching this match is because of us. People know what we can do, people have seen it, people have lived it and people have loved it. Couldn't give a damn if they boo us, we're getting a reaction, you get people leaving the arena whenever you appear. It would be the worst thing to possibly happen to SCW if you were to get these belts, the absolute worst thing to ever happen to SCW. Who wants to see the belts on someone who gets beat up by an idiot like Salco every week, and an absent cowboy?"

"No one." Mackenzie chimes in.

"Too bloody right." Charlotte says. "We're the bad guys, the ones everyone boo, the ones who think we're in to bad shit, and they right, but they would much rather see us holding the belts than you two ever holding them. We put arses on ringside seats, you put arses on toilet seats."

Osbourne tries to hide a smile, as he slowly shakes his head.

"I'm sure you've probably worked it out but just in case you haven't, I'll spell it out to you one more time." Charlotte says convincingly. "There's not a way you could think of, or come up with that will allow you to beat us in any way. You could put together the finest minds in the world alive or dead, and there's no chance they will come up with a way for you to beat us Amy. You will not become talented overnight and you won't be leaving New Orleans on Sunday with the belts. Os or Danny, me or Kenz, doesn't matter, facts will remain the same, the championships will stay in the same place, Wyatt will probably quit, you will be even more washed up than before, the fans will still boo us, we won't care and maybe, just maybe you'll learn that until we decide to, or until we're gone from here, you Amy Santino will never be SCW Mixed Tag Team Champions with anyone."

Charlotte looks deep in to the camera.

"Stick to your pointless rivalries with people like Salco." She tells her. "Cause you're not cut out to mess with the big boys."

"Very well said." Daniel comments. "But it's time we took a little leave from here and head to Devona's house. Need to get us some wheels first..."

The four stand up as we speed forward a few hours...

It's always nice to get invited to people houses when you're in the area.... Not that in our line of business away from the ring, we get many invites, we invite ourselves so to speak, unexpectedly I might add. It's especially nice to be invited to someone's house you haven't seen in a while, just out of the kindness of one's heart. Devona and us lot came from the same gym, the same trainers in Odette and Gabriel Stevens, instantly making us family members in everyone's eyes, but hey, even family members fight and break away a little. She was the ray of sunshine in the family, a smile never far from her face, or words of encouragement from her lips. You couldn't help but like her, she brought a gentle atmosphere to a gym full of anger at times. She'd be away and out of SCW for a while, no one really knew why, I think that will be her story to tell someday hopefully, but she had returned to her hometown of New Orleans, which happened to be where SCW would be passing through.

Could you imagine the cheers she'd get if she appeared on the show? Hint, hint Devona, hint hint!

Ahem, anyway, as I was saying, she and the brothers, Beauty and Beast, also trained by Gabriel and Odette, had returned to New Orleans and with SCW passing through, an invitation was made to me, Os, Charley and Kenz to visit... By Devona's Grandmother. She was curious to meet Devona's friends from the other side of the world and how could we say no to such an offer?

The four members of London Underground sit in a rental car, Osbourne behind the wheel, with Daniel sitting next to him in the passenger seat, both women sitting in the back of the car. The car moves past a row of houses in midtown New Orleans. Daniel looks curiously out of the window, seeing what Devona had described to him as a shotgun house. He didn't have a clue what it meant but did his best to guess which belonged to Devona's grandmother. Devona had described it as quaint and homey, painted violet, soft blue, lime green and white.

"There." Daniel says, pointing his hand towards a house matching that description.

Mackenzie, next to the closes window where Daniel pointed, looks out of the window, winkling up her nose.

"Blimey, that one's hard to miss." She says surprised.

It really was hard to miss, standing out like a sore thumb in the row of other houses. Thin and narrow looking, the house was situated on grass, just a little from the main road.

Osbourne slows the car down, moving it slowly across the road before coming to a complete stop outside the front of the property, just covered with a front door and a couple of windows either side.

"So shotgun house must mean narrow?" Charlotte muses.

Osbourne turns the engine off and the four open their doors, stepping out on to the street of the quiet road, and shutting the doors behind them. The front door opens and the familiar face of Devona can be seen. Wasting no time, she charges toward the group and jumps at them, wrapping her arms around them, initiating a group hug.

"It's so great to see you guys!" She tells them with a happy tone.

It had been a while. None of the group had seen Devona since SCW has closed down in January, everyone made their way back to where ever they called home, but Devona had kept in touch with her wrestling family.

"You too." Daniel says as the group hug breaks apart. "You're looking well."

"So do you!" Devona gushes. "All of you do."

Daniel looks up to see an older woman walking from the house walking over to join you group.

"My my my." She says. "I know you said he was cute but woooooo."

The woman fans her face as she looks at Daniel, causing Devona to blush, and of course drawing a snigger from Charlotte and Mackenzie.

"You must be Daniel." She says looking at him.

"I am." Daniel says, extending his hand. "Nice to meet you Mrs..."

The woman shakes her head.

"We'll have none of that Mrs stuff." She says. "Y'all can all call me Gram."

"Well it's nice to meet you, Gram." He says extending his hand once more.

"Boy, you're in N'Orleans now. We don't shake hands..." She tells him. "We hug!"

Catching Daniel by surprise, the woman jumps at him, pulling him in close with a bear like hug, squeezing him firmly for a few seconds before letting him go. As she does, she turns to Osbourne.

"This is Osbourne." Devona says.

"Does he come with a first name or is he just like Madonna?" Gram asks.

"He doesn't even come with speech." Mackenzie mutters to herself.

She jumps at him and wraps her arms around Osbourne, the big man trying to keep a stony look on his face. Gram steps back, once again fanning her face.

"I could feel his muscles underneath his shirt." She tells Devona.

Devona turns her head away from her grandmother, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

"This is Charlotte." Devona says pointing to Charlotte.

"Nice to meet you Gram." Charlotte says politely.

"Such manners your friends have." Gram comments. "Except muscles, he don't say a lot."

"The string on his back broke years ago." Mackenzie mutters once more.

Osbourne overhears and looks towards Mackenzie, overlooking Gram and Charlotte embraced in a hug. They break off the hug and Gram looks towards Mackenzie.

"And this is Mackenzie." Devona says, completing her introductions.

"What a fine name." Grams says as she wraps her arms around Mackenzie.

Mackenzie's face turns to pure awkwardness, never really been comfortable with hugging strangers, her face told that exact story. Gram releases Mackenzie, much to her relief and turns to Devona.

"Why don't you take your friends around the back and check on the smart one and the foolish one." She tells Devona. "And I'll be out in a minute."

Devona nods to her grandmother as she walks back towards the house. Devona points around the side of the house and the group begin to walk in that direction.

"Smart one and the foolish one?" Mackenzie says "Beauty and Beast?"

Devona nods as she looks towards her.

"Yes, they are here." Devona confirms.

Charlotte points a finger at Mackenzie.

"No distracting him with a spoon this time." Charlotte tells her.

"Can't promise anything." Mackenzie replies, a wicked smile crossing her face.

The group walk around the back of the house to see a long table set up, covered in plates and covered over pots. Family style was a big thing in New Orleans and Devona and her grandmother were very big on traditions. All rested on a brightly covered tablecloth, everything seemed brighter in New Orleans, and this tablecloth was no different. Steam could be seen coming from many of the pots on the table. Three chairs sat either side, while two sat on the end of the table. Standing to one side, stood the man know as Beast, a huge man mountain, yet as gentle as could be. He looks up, noticing the groups arrival and swiftly moves to greet them.

"Wonderful to see you all again." He says with a warming smile.

"Good to see you too mate." Daniel says with a cheery tone to his voice.

Mackenzie holds her hand up to him.

"I just learned you all hug to greet down here." Mackenzie says "But if you do that, you'll break me."

Beast smiles at her. He was against the stereotypes of most big men, very well read, polite and educated.

"Then a simple handshake would suffice." He tells her.

He extends his hand toward the group. Each shaking his hand in turn.

"Where's the other one?" Charlotte asks.

Beast jets a huge thumb towards the patio door, where Beauty can be seen looking at his own reflection in the tall glass door.

"How long has he been there?" Daniel asks, stifling a laugh.

"About two hours and twenty seven minutes." Beast replies without a hint of sarcasm.

The group can't help but smile and shake their heads.

"If you would all like to take a seat." Devona says pointing towards the table. "I'll go help Gram with the drinks."

The group do as instructed, moving towards the table and sitting down in various seats as Devona enters the house, breezing past Beauty without batting an eyelid. A minute passes before Devona comes back out of the house, carrying a jug of iced tea, followed by Gram carrying another jug. She stops and looks at Beauty.

"Boy if you don't get your behind to the table now, I will take away your reason for looking at yourself." She tells him. "If we didn't tell him it was dinner time, the boy would starve."

"I got this." Mackenzie says.

She stands up from the table picking up a spoon from the table and moves towards Beauty. She reaches him and holds the spoon in front of his face.

"OOOO!" Beauty squeals, seeing his reflection in the spoon.

"Come on boy." Mackenzie says with a smile.

She starts to move the spoon away from him, causing Beauty to turn and follow it, constantly looking at his reflection. Mackenzie leads him to the table and stands him in front of a free seat. Mackenzie takes the spoon away, leading to a disappointed look on his face.

"Boy sit!" Gram tells him.

Beauty snaps out of it and sits down at the table.

"If brains were dynamite, Beauty." Gram starts "You wouldn't have enough to blow your nose."

Beauty's face lights up with a smile.

"Thanks Gram!" He says with a happy tone.

Beast looks across at Daniel.

"I don't know how he has survived this long." He says to the London Underground leader, causing a smile coming back in his direction.

Devona and Gram start to remove the lids from the pots, revealing the feast for the first time. Cajun BBQ ribs, Shrimp étouffée, Gumbo, Po' Boys, Maque choux, Crawfish, and Cajun fried chicken cover the table along with smiles on the faces of everyone around it. Devona takes a seat at the head of the table and Gram sits at the other end.

"This looks amazing." Charlotte comments.

"I don't know what half this stuff is." Mackenzie adds "But it smell so good."

"Well don't just wait around." Grams says "Dig in."

The group start to eat, moving their hands to various dishes, but Devona leans in to Daniel, her voice lowered as she talks to him.

"Why did you say not to tell Osbourne about the spice?" She asks him in a hushed tone.

Daniel looks at Osbourne, his strong fingers wrapped around a piece of Cajun fried chicken and lifts it to his mouth, taking a huge bite.

"You see, he just thinks that's normal fried chicken but...." Daniel says with a smile.

Osbourne's face starts to turn red, sweat running down his forehead. He picks up a napkin and starts to dab his forehead as the sweat starts to run down. He looks around the table, picking up the jug and drinks straight from it, gulping down mouthful after mouthful, emptying the jug as quickly as humanly possible.

"Os never was a spice man." Daniel says with a wide grin. "And I never get sick of seeing that."

Devona smiles as the group look towards Osbourne and the camera fades out.
