You know those days when you wake up, sore, feeling like garbage, and the last thing you want to do is go to work, but you do anyway because people are counting on you? Kinda of how I feel this weekend.

Yeah, story of my life.

Last time I told you about a story. A story about a woman who was five years into her wrestling career, a late bloomer, who came through the doors of Sin City Wrestling with nothing. A story filled with pages of victories, defeats, redemption, dashed hopes and success, and each chapter of that story defined who she really was.

That story, my story continues on.

But SCW will not.

Two days removed from a nine-half hour flight crossing seven time zones from Tokyo is one thing, but this week took me for a loop. Everybody has seen it by now, everyone has heard it on radio, television or on social media. Sin City Wrestling is having its final shows before closing its doors for good next January. I wish I was making this up, I wish someone was playing a cruel joke, but it’s really happening. Anybody who is anybody who has ever made an impact will be showing up at the final Climax Control show next week. It’s enough to make your head spin just thinking about it.

In five weeks’ time, by mid-January 2018, my four-journey here is over. I’ve carved out a legacy that will never be surpassed or equaled and while a few title matches didn’t go my way, in the end I’ve come to realized that I’ve accomplished a lot more than what people gave me credit for, not that I plan on holding my breath in waiting for adulation or anything. Sin City Wrestling was my home for half of my wrestling career. To think that’s it’s closing up shop…I don’t think words alone will ever do it justice. But I have to move on. I have to move to this weekend. One of the final three shows, two of them in 2017, before it’s time to say goodbye. This Sunday, my opponent is none other than Trinity Jones. Some may know her as “The Dragon.” Others call her a future champion. But we all know her as Princess Trinity Jones. Me? I call her my next toughest challenge. Getting past Samantha Marlowe two shows ago, I already know that Trinity is going to come at me with everything she has, especially after coming up short in her second shot at the Bombshell Roulette Championship. I’m not sure if SCW’s closing is reason enough why she’s calling it a career after our match Sunday, but anyone who is going to ride out into the sunset will do everything possible to leave with their hand raised.

Sadly, Trinity, that’s exactly what I plan to do too and I know this might sound a little arrogant coming from me, but you’re going to need a little bit of luck and a whole lot of talent to keep up with me. This Sunday we’ll call it your trial by fire. The question I pose to you is are you ready to face it? Are you ready to do everything possible to get past me? Because I’m going to do what is willing and able to make sure I’m the last one standing. There’s nothing to play for Sunday. No title on the line, no contendership. We’re not headlining the show. This match is about one thing: pride.

You came into SCW looking to make a name for yourself and even though you’ve been here just short over four months, you never let the losses define you or the title setbacks slow you down. It’s just sad that will never get to see your potential. Or maybe, maybe we will. Maybe Sunday, Trinity, you show these fans what you’re about. Give me the challenge that I know you can and will be. Can you do that, Trinity?

The world will be watching and waiting and wondering that very same thing.

So, Sunday, I face “The Dragon” Trinity Jones, but you’re going to know what it is to face fire face to face.

Just for a Thrill: The Thrill is Gone: The Weaker Argument Defeats the Stronger

Pacific Standard Time

THE WEEK THAT WAS. It was the perfect way to describe the events that unfolded one after the other leading up to Climax Control 199. First, there was the announcement that shocked the roster following Sin City Wrestling closing its doors soon. Even now, people are still going through the motions even though there's a show to get ready for in a matter of forty-eight hours. Then came the the right hook that sent the roster down for the count: the tweet nobody saw coming happened just past 3:15 pm Pacific time. The announcement of Misty Waters's death was the exclamation point to an already crazy weekend as it was. Mercedes sent her thoughts, but was shaken and stirred by the news. People write fake deaths of celebrities now that it's become a meme. Mercedes didn't want to believe it, she refused to accept it, but nonetheless the tweet was genuine. She never knew Misty personally, they were never close backstage, but she did have the opportunity to face the Hall of Famer and three-time World Bombshell Champion on occasion.

Add that to the raging wildfires that broke out in California this week and you already have a recipe for disaster. With a match to prepare for, how anyone could handle this three-headed monster of bad news was anyone's guess. There was no use to hide away from it. The news was too upsetting, even for Mercedes.

Mercedes: Can this week get any worse?

Carmen: Some things just shouldn't be said, even in jest. You know better not to tempt fate.

Irritation crossed her face and she gave her cousin a level look. Carmen merges onto a crowded street through Las Vegas's 1-80.

Mercedes: I wasn't joking. I made my career in Sin City Wrestling. I gave everything I had in that place and now it's closing its doors. You can't tell me a company closing its door and a death just a few days after that is tempting fate.

Carmen: Look, all I'm saying is that when things go wrong, they really go wrong. It's Murphy's Law. You don't want to make things worse than they already are. Some things are out of your control.

Mercedes: Yeah, I guess you're right.

And she always hated when she was. Just once - once! - she wanted to prove that wasn't always the case. Maybe. It was a mistake trying to convince her cousin otherwise. The one thing she could control was the outcome of her match and adding to her momentum. With her last chance at ending the year at least on a positive note, she wasn’t planning on wasting her opportunity this weekend. Sunday presented it's own challenges. She was going to tempt fate head on, whether it liked it or not.

Fade.

Present Day

[REC•]

“Two days...””

[Mercedes looks back at the camera, her emotions says it all there. She is contemplative, a little sullen and struggling to keep her eyes level on the lense..]

“In two days, Trinity, you and I will be competiting in one of the final three shows left before Sin City Wrestling closes up shop. It's a little more than either of us bargained for but, well here we are..”

[Mercedes nods before she turned her attention back to the camera.[/i.]”

"I"ll make this short. Be ready. Because you know I will be. I'll see you at Climax Control."
