Some things never stop, crime doesn't take a vacation, it doesn't give many days off, but there was something about today that was different. There was something about Sydney, Australia that felt pretty relaxed for a busy city. Even with people hustling and bustling around, things seemed pretty relaxed for Daniel J Morgan and his crew as he waited in the hotel lobby for the rest of them to turn up, his eyes fixed firmly on a newspaper, held between his strong fingers. A small cup of coffee sits on the table in front of him as Osbourne walks through the lobby, dressed in a silver suit. He walks towards the table where Daniel sits in his navy blue suit. Without saying a word, Osbourne sits next to him and looks across at him. Daniel lowers his newspaper to see the bigger man sitting next to him.
"And good morning to you too son." Daniel says calmly with a nod.
His hand moves towards the coffee cup, lifting it as he looks at Osbourne and raises it to his lips. He slowly replaces it back on to the table as Mackenzie Page and Charlotte Elliot walk through the lobby, walking towards the table where the two men sit. The two take seats opposite Daniel and Osbourne, looking across.
"Morning ladies." Daniel says with a smile as he looks at the two.
"Morning boss." Charlotte responds. "What's the plan for today?"
Daniel looks across at the two women with a smile.
"Well, today is one of those very rare days for you two ladies." Daniel starts "This is a day where not much needs to get done, this is what you'd call one of those rare days off where time and crime takes a break from everything."
Both women look at each other before looking back at Daniel with looks at the two of them with a calm look on his face.
"Did you fall out of bed and hit your head of something?" Mackenzie asks him, a serious tone to her voice.
Daniel runs his hand over the back of his head in a mocking fashion, checking for imaginary lumps on his head.
"Nah." He responds. "Would have noticed that when I was combing me dome, but no lumps or bumps there, Kenz."
"Sounded like you was giving us the day off." Charlotte observes.
"That I am Charley." Daniel tells her. "Ironically, we're sitting in the place where us Brits sent our brooks as punishment, you'd think the descendents of those lot would still be in to dodgy stuff, giving us a little action but I'm in a happy mood today which means you two get the benefit. All work and no play, you know all that bollocks, so it's time for less work and more play."
Even Osbourne turns his head towards Daniel with a look of confusion on his face.
Daniel was known to always look for an opportunity to do something, and if there was no opportunity, then he had a habit of being able to create one, especially when he's sitting in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
"You seriously don't want to get out there and somehow be richer than you was when you woke up?" Mackenzie asks
"Well a fool and his money are easily parted." Daniel starts "And these people do have green but nah, you two have the day off, Os, you big beast of a fella, you get the day off too, day off for everyone."
Mackenzie looks at Charlotte, her tone low and to the point.
"The fuck we meant to do today?" She asks her.
Charlotte shrugs her shoulders, also trying to process the news of a rare day off.
"Go see the sights, go to the spa, go shave Os from head to toe for all I care." Daniel says with a smile forming on his lips "Do what ya wanna do, and you'll be back working before ya know it. All this travelling stuff is enough to wear ya down, ain't gonna be no good in that title defence if ya not chilled out, so go chill out."
Daniel waves his hand at the women, trying to tell them to go, causing the two to stand up slowly. He looks towards Osbourne too.
"You too" he tells the big man "Bugger off, go do whatever it is you see as fun."
The three get to their feet and look around each other with a confused look on their faces but start to wander away from the table, leaving Daniel to pick up his newspaper and continue to read.
"Thank God these lot speak English." He comments to himself "Or this paper wouldn't make much sense."
A free day for all, a split group, who knows what Osbourne got up to, or how Daniel spent his day, but this story isn't about them, is it?
Sydney Harbour, arguably the most well know place in the city, thanks to a couple of world famous landmarks and we head to one of them now, as Mackenzie and Charlotte stand on the Sydney Bridge, their eyes looking across at another landmark known throughout the world, and the location for the next SCW show, the Sydney Opera House. People pass the two women as they stand in the sun, the heat surrounding their bodies as they look across the harbour towards the iconic building.
"I think this heat has got to Daniel." Mackenzie comments with a smile. "He never gives us the day off, always got his minces open for something and instead he's happy to sit in a hotel, reading a rag?"
Mackenzie's comment is met by a glance from Charlotte as the two lean on the rail on the end of the bridge.
"I can't complain." Charlotte says "We're on the other side of the world with a free day, there's worse places we could be. Besides, he's probably got something brewing, not like him to not have something on his mind."
Mackenzie can't argue with her friend, she knew deep down that while they may have the day off, Daniel probably didn't.
"I guess." Mackenzie responds. "I can't believe we're wrestling our second match over there as champions against the two head cases of SCW."
Charlotte looks across at the building on the opposite side of the water, her eyes narrowed as she brushes the loose hair out of her eyes.
"We deserve it." Charlotte replies.
"Fucking right we do." Mackenzie replies "So we didn't have the experience of those other people in that match, we proved we're better than them. Former tag champs coming out the arse and none of them could keep up. Fuck what anyone might have to say about us, we're gonna prove we're better than the rest of them by beating them all again."
Before another word can come from either woman's mouth, a woman and two children, one boy, one girl, approach them.
"Excuse me." The woman says softly. "Are you guys Mackenzie Page and Charlotte Elliot? The SCW wrestlers?"
Both women turn around, slowly letting the thought of being SCW wrestlers sink in, neither of the women really considering themselves as real wrestlers, more of it being a second job rather than a main career.
"Uh, yeah." Charlotte stumbles out, finally realizing that the women is talking to them about being wrestlers.
"My kids are big fans, my little girl wants to be just like you when she grows up." The woman says, drawing a strange look from Mackenzie.
"I wouldn't recommend it." Mackenzie says. "Unless she really likes hurting people."
The woman looks slightly taken back as Charlotte quickly jumps in to save the situation.
"What she means is thanks." Charlotte says.
The two women were not used to dealing with fans, this side of wrestling never entered their minds when Daniel's plan was created, nor did it enter their minds when training. This was all very new to them.
"Would you mind if I took a picture of you guys with the kids?" The woman asks hopefully.
"Sure." Charlotte responds slowly and softly.
Mackenzie fires her a narrowed eyed look across, her voice turning to a whisper.
"The fuck?" She whispers at Charlotte.
"Like Danny said a while ago, become well known, gives people other things to look at and not what we're really doing?" Charlotte whispers back. "Play along."
Mackenzie rolls her eyes as she and Charlotte crouch down behind the two kids and the mother takes a camera phone from her pocket, quickly snapping a picture of the four. Mackenzie and Charlotte stand up, the unfriendly Mackenzie turning around instantly to face the harbour again.
"Thank you." The woman says to Charlotte, who nods towards her.
The woman puts the phone back in her pocket, and takes her kids by the hand.
"Good luck on Sunday." The woman says to Charlotte before turning around and walking away.
Charlotte moves towards Mackenzie leaning on the rail.
"I like the kicking people's teeth down their throat aspect of this business." Mackenzie starts "But I will not ever get used to being approached by strangers for selfies and all that shit."
"All part of the business I guess." Charlotte responds with thought.
"Well fuck that." Mackenzie replies "Can we just go to the Opera House and hide from these selfie hunting jerk offs?"
And that is exactly what they did, as the scene switches to the front row of the Sydney Opera House. Mackenzie and Charlotte sit leaning on the barrier, looking towards the ring as technicians continue to put together the set for SCW Climax Control.
"No point putting that shit together for us." Mackenzie says seriously. "Those crazy bitches we're facing apparently don't like the ring."
Charlotte turns her head towards Mackenzie.
"Neither do you." Charlotte responds cooly "Until training started, you've never been in a ring before and you still preferred to kick the shit out of people outside the ring, in alleyways, in marketplaces, hell, anywhere."
"Not preferred." Mackenzie corrects her. "Prefer. I still rather kick the shit out of people outside the ring than in the ring, too constricting, not enough walls to introduce faces to. This is why these fucking snicker bars don't scare me."
"Snicker bars?" Charlotte asks.
"Yeah, fucking nutty." Mackenzie responds. "Screw looses and shit, but that don't bother me in the slightest, cause we're still gonna fuck 'em up. They think they're psycho, they think they're crackers, but the thing is, the quiet ones are always the ones you need to look out for, not the ones who run around, bouncing their lips with their fingers."
To prove her point, Mackenzie bounces her lower lip with her forefinger.
"Well it's not like we've not faced people like this before." Charlotte says with a casual shrug "Only difference is, is this time there's rules. We've done this without rules, in much more dangerous situations. Can be as bat shit crazy as they want, but they breathe air and they bleed. This is why I don't all this hype bullshit. Danny told me about Despayre tweeting at him warning us that they're crazy. Clearly these guys don't know what crazy is."
"Nah. Crazy is a coked up steroid freak on a Friday night wanting to fight the world." Mackenzie says with pride in her voice.
"Always go back to that guy, huh?" Charlotte responds.
"Fella was six foot seven and I took him down with one throat punch." Mackenzie says proudly. "Always gonna go back to that. One day, I might tell people in SCW the story of that one."
She leans back in her chair as she looks at the ring.
"Either way." She continues "That's a real fucking nutcase, Twisted Sister and Iron Maiden ain't a damn thing to me."
"We don't have to underestimate them." Charlotte says cautiously. "But if they're gonna mess around, going all nuts and shit, we know we can take them down. No undisciplined person could ever take out someone who's controlled. Let them throw around weapons and shit, let them act all nuts and run around like a bull in a China shop, one hard whack on the nose..."
"Or a throat punch." Mackenzie adds.
"Or a throat punch" Charlotte echoes "And they'll be on their back faster than a two pound hooker in Soho. We have no danger of losing our titles to these two, no matter how much they wanna run around and act the goat."
"Probably not good to mention goats to them." Mackenzie comments "Probably spend the match on their hands and knees making goat sounds if Iron Maiden's last match was anything to go by."
Charlotte turns her head to smile towards Mackenzie.
"Yeah." Charlotte responds. "I'm not worried. There is not a chance those titles will not be going in to the supercard with us."
Mackenzie nods in agreement as the scene fades out.
