Sam Diary entry: After Climax Control March 20.
For the most part tonight was pretty fun. I didn’t have a match but that didn’t mean I wasn’t seen. As bombshell champion, I wanted to be at the show to scout out the two teams that I could be facing at the semi-finals of the Blast from the Past tournament.

And as an added bonus, Cyn wasn’t too happy with Ben and me tonight. I know I shouldn’t push her buttons but dang it, she is pushing herself into something that she shouldn’t. And bravo to Ben for saving me once again.

Sam Marlowe smiled as the pen scrawled across the small journal in her hand. Ever since she got the book and began writing in it, she couldn’t wait to keep it up. Writing in a diary had started in high school when she received her first diary one Christmas. Now it was a habit of hers with anything going on in her life that was special or made her smile. And the annoying of her sister did make her smile even when it made Cyn lash out with some effort to put and keep Sam in her place.

At the sound of footsteps, Sam looks up to see Ben approaching and quickly shuts the book to hide it behind her back. The Brit looks at Sam and then leaning forward, he gets right in her face with both his hands resting on the equipment box that Sam was perched on.

“Secrets again love?” he queries as he quickly reaches around her and grasps the book to yank it out of her hand. Sam yelps in surprise then reaches for the book only to have Ben hold up his hand to stop her. “I think I better give me minces a butcher’s,” he adds as he flips it open with one hand.

“No secrets Ben, I swear,” Sam replies as she reaches for the book once more. “Just keeping a diary of things that I am thinking and feeling,” she continues as Ben reads a few of the entries then closes the book with a smile. “Great, now that you read it, can I please have it back?”

Handing the book back, Ben nods his agreement. Moving to her side, he leans against the equipment box and offers Sam a smile. “Sooo…the dragon was flaming this week huh? I still think she’s warming to me.”

Sam can’t help but giggle at that comment. If he heard half the things that Cyn said about him to Sam he wouldn’t think that but Sam wasn’t going to enlighten him. “Yeah, that’s it. She always calls people she likes idiots,” Sam offers with her own smile. “Just think of what she might call you if she REALLY liked you!”

“There is something worse than idiot?” says a wide-eyed Ben in a teasing tone that only causes Sam to shoot him a sideways look.

“Of course there is silly. I don’t know if you are ready for it but trust me, it probably isn’t pretty,” offers Sam with her own teasing tone. “But seriously, do we have to talk about her? She left in a huff and I suspect that she is not a happy person right about now. I don’t think she expected me to say no to her,” adds Sam with an ironic tone. “And thank god she didn’t stay around for a ride back to Vegas. Speaking of…need a ride? It’s only a six and a half hour one back to Vegas.”

Ben thinks about it then slowly nods. “Only fair love since I gave you that flight out of Eureka.”

Sam jumps off the equipment case and turns to tuck the book into a beat up sports bag with the worn logo of some Houston minor league team on it. Shouldering it, she turns and motions for Ben to follow her. The pair makes their way into the parking lot where a rather beat up dark green Chevy Nova with Shelby stripes sits among newer cars.

Walking up to the passenger side of the car, Sam inserts the key into the lock and twists it before leaning against the door and smiling at Ben as she fights to get it opened. “She’s a bit tempermental,” offers Sam as she yanks one final time to open the door. Motioning for him to get inside, Sam shuts the door leaving Ben to take in the interior of the car. A small bead necklace hangs from the rearview mirror with a doubloon swaying slightly from the slamming of the trunk.

Sam moves to the driver’s side and opens the door to slide behind the wheel, a hand rising to stop the doubloon. “I hope you don’t mind listening to old music,” offers Sam as she begins to paw into the back, leaning into Ben slightly.

“As long as it isn’t Mozart or something,” he returns with a slight wrinkling of his nose. “Stuff like that puts me to sleep.”

“I am not that old school,” replies Sam as she pulls out a case that she flips open to reveal cassettes. Letting her fingers track across them, she pulls out one that reads mixed tape 4 on the spine. Ben can’t believe his eyes as he watches her slide the tape into the tape drive under the radio. Turning the key in the ignition, Sam starts the car, a low thrum of the engine a soothing sound until the click of the stereo beginning to play the cassette.

“Don’t you think you might want to join us in the twenty first century?” he quips before the sounds of Def Leppard’s “Pour some sugar on me” comes from the speakers.

“Hey, you say old school, I say classic,” she says after giving a grin to the brit beside her. “Besides I only just bought this car for trips like this and haven’t had the time to change up the stereo. Luckily there is a vintage pawn shop in Vegas. I was able to get a few old cassettes.”

Ben pulls the case from the lap of Sam and proceeds to pull cassette after cassette from the case reading the names on them. “Bon Jovi…AC DC…love where have you been all my life?” he teases.

“Living in Cyn’s shadow it seems,” Sam teases back as the engine rolls over as Sam shifts it into gear and pulls out of the parking lot.

A few hours later as they cross the border between Arizona and Nevada, the ringtone of Sam’s cell interrupts the pair who are talking about the music they have been listening to. Reaching into her bag, Sam pulls out the phone and keys in her thumbprint that opens the phone. “Can you read what was sent?” she asks Ben as she hands off the cell phone. Taking it, he swipes the screen to reveal her email and then the new messages. Among the top few is a message from the booking team of Sin City wrestling.

“Looks like the card for next week is out love,” Ben offers as he taps the message. He watches as it opens then scrolls down to read it. “Looks like you are going to be facing Lucy and Spike darlin’ in the semi finals and I got me a match as well.”

Sam doesn’t take her eyes off the road. “So who are you facing?” she asks. “Anything interesting?”

Ben nods and closes the phone. “Yeah, I am facing J2H for his title.”

Sam swerves slightly in surprise at that comment. Gaining control again, she manages to shoot a quick glance at Ben who is once more looking out at the darkness. “Soooo…is this a good thing darling?” she asks softly.

“Of course it is love,” he replies as he shoots a grin at Sam. “We could end up as the top champions in the company. You are and I could be next week.”

Sam spares another glance at Ben. “You know I could help you train for the match. I mean I am going to have to train to move on in my match this week and I am sure that having your help with help me a lot,” she offers. “We could train at Vixen’s and Spike’s dungeon.”

“I don’t know about that Sam, Spike is your opponent and all,” Ben offers with an apologetic smile. “I might be able to talk to him.”

Sam gets silent for a moment as she thinks about that then nods slowly. “Okay but not today. When we get back to Vegas I am sleeping all day!” Sam exclaims as they drive over a hill and spy the lights of Vegas in the distance. “You are welcome to camp out at my place,” she offers. “We could go to Staggs’ dungeon the next day.”

“Then let’s get the frockneys moving love,” Ben urges as Sam lets her eyebrows meet in confusion.

“Frockneys?” mutters Sam as her head tilts slightly as she tries to figure out just what that meant.  Finally her curiosity gets the better of her.  “Ok I know that I am going to probably regret this but what the hell is a frockney?”

Ben’s hands come off his lap as he half turns to Sam and holds them up at chest height.  “Frockneys…your frockney bits…your ti..”

“I get it Ben, I get it!” Sam says explosively before Ben can continue.  She blushes a bright pink that luckily can’t be seen in the very dim light of the interior which only deepens she can sense when Ben’s low laughter fills the car.  “We’ll be home soon enough.  Til then, no mentioning my frockney bits or getting them to move anymore.  Just so not right,” she mutters as more laughter escapes the cockney in the passenger seat.  The last of the pair is seen in the headlights of the car as it disappears into the lights of the city.

Vixen Staggs can be seen in the ring of the Staggs Dungeon with one of the students that she offers lessons to.  The sound of the door opening to reveal Sam Marlowe and Ben Jordan distracts her as she motions for the student to finish up the drills.  Sliding through the ropes, Vixen hops to the floor and moves towards Sam with a smile.

“Hey champion, long time no see,” she jokes half-heartedly.  Sam smiles back at Vixen as she replies,  “Yeah all of a week or so right?  I thought I would come in to get some training in for my match this week.  And I guess me asking you for some help isn’t going to happen huh?”

Vixen has the grace to look upset as she shakes her head.  “As much as I would love to help you Sam, this week kinds puts me at a disadvantage you know.  I train with you, I live with Spike,” she jokes.  “Besides, I don’t know if I would feel right you know?”

Sam nods slowly as she looks over the gym to spy Spike watching her and Vixen talk.  Sam waves with a soft smile and a mouthed ‘Good luck’ that Spike acknowledges before walking into the other room.  Vixen takes in the interaction and hides her smile.  “But I see you brought Ben with you.  He’ll help you train I am sure.”

With a soft chuckle, Sam motions towards Ben who is stretching out.  “I know exactly how to motivate him,” she says with a smirk before offering her hand to Vix.  “Once this match is over, I’ll be back for some more training with you considering that I have a belt to defend at the supercard.”

“You got it Sammi,” replies Vixen as she shakes hands with the younger redhead.  “Good luck in the match, not that you are going to need it facing Lucy but still…you are also facing Spike, or rather Rage is.”  With a final shake she moves off as Sam turns to Ben and approaches him with a bounce in her step.

“Right love, what kind of training will we be looking at doing?” he asks with a slight grin.

“You need to train for your match against J2H for his championship belt and I need to be ready for the BFTP match against Lucy and Spike.  So here is what I suggest we do, you need to face a champion and I need to face someone that will give me a challenge.”

“Darlin’ you know that I can’t lay a hand on you in a SCW ring so how is that going to help me prepare?” he asks.

“Ben if you haven’t realized, we are not in an SCW ring right now,” Sam replies with confidence as she jumps to sit on the apron of the ring.  “Besides, if I promise not to tell anyone about how badly I will be beating you, do you think you could help me train?”  Sam lowers her head slightly, watching the puffing of Ben’s chest through her eyelashes.  She can almost sense the wheels turning in Ben’s head.  Before he can think of an excuse, she adds, “Unless of course you don’t think you could out wrestle me…”

“Them’s fighting words love,” says Ben as he joins Sam on the apron.  “But let’s make this interesting,” he offers as he slides into the ring before turning to hold the ropes apart for Sam.  She gets to her feet and slips into the ring.  “We’ll bet on the outcome.  First to five pins or submissions wins and the loser has to buy dinner.”

Sam looks at him suspiciously before holding out a hand to shake.  “You are on,” she returns before being pulled into a quick headlock by Ben who ruffles her curls before letting her go.  Straightening up, Sam shakes her head as she moves to stretch near the opposite corner.  Students of the Dungeon watch as one of the trainers come to referee the friendly between the two.  The sound of someone saying Ding has both wrestlers moving to the middle of the ring.

The pair locks up in a collar and elbow that Ben quickly turns into a headlock before spinning around Sam to catch her arm in a hammerlock behind Sam’s back.  Sam looks for an escape but Ben is able to hold her for a moment.  Sam surprises him though as she bends to grab at his leg but ducks under his arm and reverses the hammerlock.  Ben moves once more to get behind Sam and catches her around the waist to bring her to the mat with a belly to back suplex that surprises the bombshell champion.  Ben floats over and pins her gently which she is able to kick out of easily.

“Bravo love, but now I am not going to be easy on you,” he offers as he reaches for her hand.  Sam evades the grasp and charges forward to try to take Ben down with a Lou Thesz press.  A chuckling Ben holds her against his chest for a moment then with a wink launches her over his head with a snap suplex that drives the air from Sam’s lungs.  Ben is able to float over again this time holding Sam down long enough to get the first pin.

The trainer checks on Sam who rolls to her stomach and raises an eyebrow at Ben’s cocky smirk.  “So that’s how it is going to be huh?” she says as she gets to her feet.  The students cheer as the pair begins to circle around each other.  Sam manages to catch Ben with monkey flip that she turns into a roll up.  He pretends to struggle enough to kick out but Sam rolls him up tighter and gets the three.

“You aren’t taking me seriously darlin’,”says Sam as she brushes some imaginary lint from her work out gear.  “Think of me as J2H and the fact that he won’t take it easy on you.”  Sam crouches slightly only to straighten again at the grin on Ben’s face.  “What?”

“You are a sight more pretty than James,” Ben offers.

“But I am just as good as him, or better if you ask me.  At least I don’t have that big of an ego anyways,” she giggles.

“Thank the lord for those little things!” can be heard from the group of students surrounding the ring.  Sam and Ben move back to face each other before locking up again…

Hours later, Sam walks into the living room of her home to find Ben lying on the sofa, one arm over his eyes and a soft moan escaping with every shift of his body.   “You are going to stiffen up if you don’t move,” Sam suggests as she sits on the table in front of the sofa.

“Oi love, I can’t move because it hurts,” replies Ben sounding rather pained and looking for sympathy.

“Physical hurts or hurts to be beaten by a girl?” teases Sam.  “Beside Ben,” she adds, “you should go out and get in the hot tub or into a hot shower.  You owe me dinner.”

Ben once more lets his arm cover his face to mask the muffled ‘f*ck’ off from Sam who only grins at the complaint.  Sam gets to her feet and bops Ben on the head.  “Let’s go darlin’ because I think I could eat a whole pizza myself.  I am going to get ready and if you don’t get off the sofa, I will make you get off it.”

Ben can only groan with pain as he tries to laugh at the gruff threat of Sam.  She moves towards the back of the house and her bathroom to get ready as Ben calls out to her about getting some kind of sledge to help him off the sofa which only causes Sam to laugh, the sound of it filtering back to Ben making him curse slightly as he debates on getting up off the sofa.

Blast from the Past, can you believe it, my first ever tournament and I was in the semifinals with my partner Rage against a legend and someone that was just as legendary.  I mean I could be sitting here talking about the fact that I was the bombshell champion and that I wasn’t afraid of the match but if you want to know the truth, I am a little afraid and I ain’t afraid to say that.  Hell I know that if you have no fear you tend to be cocky and that is what makes one a loser.

Take for example my match against Mikah.  I was scared, full on worried that I wasn’t going to be good enough and sure enough I was.  And then my first match in this tournament, facing against Raab and Gothika.  I don’t know who I was more scared of but we made it through that round and into round number two.  Then Rage and I faced Lucien Frost and Keira Fisher in round two and once again I was scared.  Not as bad but I was.  But I realized something as I was preparing for this match against Spike and Lucy.

I’m afraid but I am not scared any more.  It is almost like I am getting a handle on my fear as each round makes me more and more confident as we fight our way to the finals.  And I know that the biggest part of my fear is letting my partner down.  And being the type of person I am, I could never do that.

Not after all we have been through Rage and I.

This week we have our semifinal match against Spike Staggs and Lucy Seraphina.  I know Spike and trust me he is a friend but this isn’t about friendship, this is about Rage getting a shot at winning the chance to face J2H for the belt.  And given that the men and Bombshells have a strict no touching rule, my only concern is Lucy…

Lucy Seraphina, former champion and someone that on any given day could summon the will and the drive to defeat anyone in SCW and I know this because she has beaten me.  But if you remember, I was a rookie who had never really stepped inside a ring very often at that time.  That rookie is gone and in her place stands the bombshell champion.  A woman that stood toe to toe with what some would say was the impossible obstacle and I overcame it to win my first title in SCW, the Bombshell championship no less.

So what does this mean to me if I manage to win this match and move onto Blaze of Glory to be in the finals of the tournament?  I honestly don’t know and really, I ain’t going to look past this week and Climax Control 144.  I can’t overlook the fact that if I let Lucy beat me in the match at Climax Control it could give her a legit opportunity to say that she deserved a shot at my title.  And she would be right.

But if I could do it, if I can go all the way in this tournament, think of what that will mean.  I will have done the impossible, something that even Mikah in all her conceited glory had never done.  I am the reigning bombshell champion and I will be fighting in the semifinals and if it all goes to plan, the finals at Blaze of Glory.  I could literally cement my legacy as the first ever reigning bombshell champion to win the Blast from the Past tournament.

When I was growing up, I set myself some goals and when I achieved them, I set new ones.  The same holds true in Sin City Wrestling.  I set the goal of winning gold in my first year in SCW and I did it.  Entering the tournament I set a goal to make it to the finals and this week could see that achievement happen.  And when, not if it does, I will set my next goal, to win the Blast from the Past tournament.

Just watch and see if I don’t.
