“An injury is sooner forgotten than an insult.
I wonder who came up with that gem, because after the first two weeks of shows to ring in the new year, it was more the other way around: I don't think it's so easy to forget about being injured, let alone insulted, on your own show. Still, one of my New Year's resolutions is to forgive others, for they know not what they do. I know if I was still a Mean Girl, I'd probably need to be forgiven for what I was going to do to Candy Overton after her friends attacked me last week.
Of course, having to deal with the femme fatales of The Nobodies was another matter. The calm before the storm or clear and present danger, I wasn't looking forward to either Celeste or Alexis showing up on the first show that night, but that they did. And, like their fellow Nobodies, they wanted all eyes on them. Celeste tried her best bullying tactics on Delia and I, but found out that they didn't work. And the less said about embarrassing herself before millions of people, the better. While playing babysitter wasn't on the top of my agenda, it's a good thing I came out to the arena when I did or we'd see the first crisis intervention on Climax Control, and we weren't even half-way through the show!
I thought sending Celeste off would save the show, but Alexis wasn't as easy to get rid of. She is persistent, I'll give her that much. She wanted a match with Twisted Sister, so I gave her what she wanted, and tweaked the match just a little for my entertainment, and it was entertaining. Sorry it didn't go the way she wanted, but Alexis got an official match this past show – a title defense – and won. No harm, no foul, right? Well, she was back to her grumpy self days after Despy's show.
Hey, we tried.
After barely surviving my Prison Chamber match with Zuri Chastain, Candy Overton and her friends showed up and attacked Zuri and I because we've made her “checklist.â€. Funny, I remember someone who used to carry a checklist around.
Oh yeah, that was me.
“An injury is sooner forgotten than an insult.
Tell that to someone who knows what that's like.
Anyhoo, this weekend I step back in the ring to take on mi amiga, mi rival, mi hermana de otro papá, Crystal Hilton. Well, it's Millar now after her marriage. I was ecstatic when she told me of the news over twitter. It's been six weeks since she and her hubby tied the knot and already she got her first win of the new year thanks to his barely noticeable interference. And they appeared again last show with Zelda. What's up with that?
OK, I'm getting too ahead of myself. All the other stuff isn't important right now. Our first meeting, Crystal beat me, and I'm woman enough to admit that. I''m not calling her win a fluke or pure luck, but whether Crystal believes it or not, whether she wants to accept it or not, she only one because Mikah Stephens didn't have anything better to do than stroll into the match and cost me the match.
At Climax Control 137, I'm going to take control of this match so that what happened last October won't happen again. We both won our first matches of the new year, it's unfortunate that one of us is going to lose after the weekend. I just hope Crystal understands that despite our long rivalry that she won't make the mistake of writing me off. Yeah, I hate when people do that.
I'm glad she rediscovered herself and found her passion for wrestling again. With her new attitude and revival as a movie star, I'm not going to try and deny her the spotlight, so much as try and steal it. As a friend, I would never do that. It would go against everything I stand for.
Paparazzi princess. Sassy socialite. Star of stage and screen. A legend, icon, and a household name in professional wrestling.
On 1/17 in Laughlin, Nevada, the lights will be on, the cameras will be rolling, and there is sure to be plenty of action. For the fans, they're going to be in for a good match, you know I'm always up for a challenge, and, well, for you, Crystal, you will get your fifteen seconds to soak in the adulation from your adoring public.
See? Everybody wins!
Except someone has to lose.
Nothing personal, Crystal. It's just business.
From Rose Girl, to Rose Goddess, to Silver Screen Queen. My, you grow up so fast.
So, are you ready for your closeup?

Mercedes: Well, this is, Mercedes. Soon you have your second match of the new year, against Crystal. So why do I feel excited...and afraid?
[Our scene opens on Mercedes Vargas pacing in front of a full-length mirror in her room, pensive, running her hands through her hair.]
Mercedes: What do I need to be afraid for? Crystal hasn't beaten me over 9,000 times. She maybe a movie star, but even she's not THAT delusional.
[Mercedes looks glum.]
Mercedes: Okay, so maybe she IS delusional, but that doesn't change that fact that I've won my fair share of matches. I know her like the back of my hand, I've studied tape, there isn't anything she can surprise me with. Well, save for her husband trying to interfere.
[The very real danger she could possibly face causes her to stop and face the mirror. Her five foot seven frame wouldn't stand a chance against him, and even then, if things really got heated, there was nothing she could really do, since he didn't have an official contract. A lawsuit, maybe, but it would be a very short one. A weary sigh escapes from her lips as she shakes her head solemnly. She's angered a lot of people over the course of her short career in SCW. At this point, anybody could be after her. She begins listing the possible suspects.]
Mercedes: Well, every action has consequences. Who knows if Veronica might cost me another match, or Celeste, or even Alexis? Are you ready to face them? Are you ready for this match? They may be ready. Crystal may be ready. But are you?
[She turns the question over in her mind. With a scoff, her answer was firm.]
Mercedes: Of course I'm ready. I'm always ready.
[There's an awkward pause as Mercedes hesitates, than completely waves it off with an arrogant wave and turns and freezes. Irma leans against the door frame of the hotel room with her arms crossed.]
Irma: It's not healthy talking to yourself, you know
Mercedes: How long have you've been standing there?
Irma: Long enough.
Mercedes: Yeah, OK. And talking to yourself is perfectly healthy. It's when you answer yourself that you need to see a psychiatrist
Irma:Well, don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today
[Her expression turn quickly from annoyance to a smile.]
Mercedes: I wonder who came up with that gem because they must have had a lot of enthusiasm. Most mornings, I can't even get out of bed

[Scenes opens at the floor room of the E Center in Laughlin. Mercedes takes a moment to get her thoughts together before she looks up at the camera.]
Mercedes: What a difference a week makes, huh? It is I, your Queen of SCW, Mercedes Vargas. Show of hands, who saw the “Super Happy Fun Show? Wasn't that, well, fun? Hey, I had a great time, even though I couldn't make it. That match with Zuri took a lot out of both of us, I can count how many stitches I got on my hand. Yeah, pretty rough. But then again, that's nothing new in our rivalry In the end, Zuri tried her best, she gave it her all, she brought her A-game like I knew she would....But in the end, there was only one standing in that ring with their hand raised, and that was me. The Queen.
[Rightly smug with herself, Mercedes beams at the camera.]
Mercedes: I didn't think it was possible, becoming the queen of SCW. I didn't think I'd still be doing this, being a wrestler even now. And yet here I am. Here I am just six days ago having celebrated seven years since I first set foot in an wrestling ring. Being an international superstar and the success that came along the way, the saying “the days go slow but the years go fast†hold true. It's been one crazy ride, but I've enjoyed it from the first day. Of course, none of this would be possible without some of the rivals and friends I've made along the way, like Amy and Roxi and, yes, even you, Crystal. Especially you, Crystal.â€
[She smiles.]
Mercedes: You know, Crystal, I would be lying if I didn't I say I wasn't looking forward to this match, and I know you are too. At least, I hope so, just like I hoped you would be grateful for not being left off the first card of the new year. You didn't seem too happy about your match, but you did what you said you were going to do and you beat Jessie and Keira. Sure, you had a little help from your husband, but let's not ruin a good story here. He may have saved you, but with my promise that what happened in our first singles won't happen again, he may not be able to save you again this weekend. I want a good, clean match, Crystal, so I hope you do the right thing and tell him that he should be on his best behavior. Can you do that, Crystal? For your old friend?
[Mercedes does her best pleading impression, even getting down the puppy dog face. There was no guarantee that it would work, but it was worth a shot.]
Mercedes: One thing has always bugged me about your new
“Silver Screen Queen†persona. If you're so famous, then can't I come up with a single blockbuster movie that you starred in? I think the last thing I bought something that had anything remotely to do with you, my neighbors called the cops for disturbing the peace. I knew playing the CD was a bad idea, but did I listen to reason? No. Anyway, I can't remember what I did with your album. Oh, right, it kept the fire going in my fireplace.
That was a long time ago, but where we're here to talk about here and now. And right now? Well, right now, I'm going to get back that win Veronica stole from me, and there's nothing that's going to stop me from getting it.
So, Sunday, at Laughlin, you get the honor and privilege to enter into my court. Be ready, Crystal, because you know I will be.
All hail the Queen.
[Fade.]
