“Titles and respect!”
« on: March 06, 2020, 08:08:29 AM »
Austin James Mercer won the Internet Championship at My Bloody Valentine III three weeks ago and the following week he issued an open challenge to anyone on the roster to try to take his gold, that challenge was answered by Caleb Storms and Austin reacted by mocking him! Not to be deterred Caleb went ahead with the plan and the match was set for the second Climax Control of the Supercard period as Austin’s Blast from the Past first round match was scheduled to take place during week one.

Caleb used that opportunity to scout the competition by joining Belinda and Jason at the commentary table for the match and whilst Austin and Candy would advance to the second round it didn’t end the way Austin wanted as O’Malley got his team disqualified using a low blow, whether or not the shot to  the family jewels would impact Austin’s performance in the match remained to be seen as his Internet Title Match against Caleb was this week’s Main Event, can Caleb end Austin’s reign early?

Walking Lemmy around York
Friday the 6th of March 2020, 16:00pm

All I wanted was an Internet Title Shot, not to get roasted!

Yeah, you know where I’m going with this, it has been a long two week wait but Austin James Mercer’s first Internet Title Defense against me is finally here even though everyone and their dog (except Lemmy off course) is predicting an easy title win for Austin James Mercer, well I’ve got bad news for everyone who’s betting money on Austin walking out of Climax Control having successfully defended the Internet Championship against me in five seconds.

The match won’t be five seconds long and I’m walking out the new Internet Champion.

But thanks to Austin’s tweet about this match when I originally retweeted his tweet about the open challenge I now have further motivation going into this match, earning respect, I’m not about to just lie down and let him pin for the easy title defense, I mean when have I ever been known to do that? Exactly, never and this Sunday not only will I prove Austin wrong by putting up a fight for the Internet Championship, but I will prove him wrong by winning the title.

Whether or not I’ll do an open challenge of my own after I win the title remains to be seen, I’m trying to not think that far ahead just yet!

“This seem like a good place to stop for a rest.” Katie commented as we stopped at a café with tables outside as well as inside, since we didn’t know if the place was dog friendly or not we decided to play it safe by sitting outside and Lemmy plopped down onto the ground in a heartbeat. “Who’d have thought that bringing an adorable puppy on the road with us would cause so much controversy in SCW.” Katie commented and I rolled my eyes.

“It’s because of that idiot J2H, he thinks he’s a know-it-all because he held every title in SCW at one point or another.” I responded as I rolled my eyes as Lemmy sniffed around my feet. “And because of that, people take his word as the gospel, he may trash talk the current roster, but I bet he can’t hang with anyone on the current roster.”

“I’ll drink to that.” Katie responded with a grin and almost on cue a waitress came over to take our orders, deciding to keep it simple we just ordered some drinks as we had planned to eat at the hotel once we got back from our walk as well as a water bowl for Lemmy which she was all too happy to provide free of charge. “So, now that that’s out of the way, are you ready for the Internet Title Match against Austin?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be.” I responded as Lemmy looked around the city streets curiously though I had a firm grip on his lead so if he did bolt, I was ready and able to stop him from running into the road. “Ready to win the title and earn a little respect in the process.”

“Oh right, the tweet he put out when you accepted his Internet Title Open Challenge.” Katie responded as she shook her head. “You’d have thought that the trilogy of matches against Fenris would’ve helped people with taking you seriously, you didn’t win any of them, but you took Fenris to the limit even in the Lion’s Den Match.”

“Yeah and I’m still not sure why that match was up for Match of the Year contention during last year’s Year End Awards.” I responded with a frown before the waitress came out with our drinks and Lemmy’s water bowl, not to mention a few strokes for Lemmy. “The only thing left to do as far as the Internet Title goes is prove everyone wrong and win it.”

“Well, you did prove everyone wrong when you defeated Bill Barnhart to enter the Superstar Six Pack Challenge Match at December to Dismember IV, this just has higher stakes and is a main event match.” Katie responded with a grin before we started drinking our (non-alcoholic) drinks and Lemmy happily drank from his water bowl, once we had finished we decided to head back to the hotel so that we’d be back in time for dinner but not before I trailed behind Katie so I could get my promo done.

“At My Bloody Valentine III Austin James Mercer won the Internet Championship in the Ladder Match, however that wasn’t the end of my quest to win the Internet Championship as Austin issued an open challenge on Twitter and, well, once I saw that no one else was taking him up on his offer I jumped on it and, after Austin’s piss poor attempt at comedy, the match was set for this Sunday’s Main Event, but the Internet Title isn’t the only thing on my mind heading into this match!”

No prizes for guessing what the other thing is.

“When I retweeted Austin’s tweet with every intention to accept Austin’s challenge he was practically laughing his ass off at the prospect of me posing a challenge to him, well this Sunday the joke will be on his as not only will I walk out of the Main Event the new SCW Internet Champion and end Austin’s reign after three weeks but I will be fighting to earn his respect and shut up everyone who doubts me or my skill in the ring! Especially those idiots who think my dog is more over than I am!”

You know who you are.

“But enough about them, I have to ask, just what will it take for me to earn some respect around here? Does surviving four matches against Fenris, three of which was after I pissed him off, not enough for them? In the end it won’t matter because this Sunday I will walk out of York the new SCW Internet Champion! As for whether or not I’ll do the same as Austin and issue an open challenge remains to be seen but after this week, I’ll have won my first title on 2020.”

Hopefully first of many.

“In summary, this week’s main event is about two things, titles and respect! The titles thing is easy enough to understand as Austin issued the open challenge and I accepted it, the respect comes into it because of what Austin tweeted in response to me accepting the challenge, and I quote: “a speed bump who needs step by step instructions on how to put on his pants in the morning is not a challenge”, well for starters Austin I’m not a speed bump, I’m a road stop sign because this Sunday your title reign is coming to a screeching halt, and second I’m not going to dignify that putting on pants comment with a response beyond the fact that I’ll be the one laughing when I walk out of York the new Internet Champion!”

And with that I decided to wrap things up,

“2020 has been a mixed bag for me so far but this Sunday changes all that and more because not only will I fight for the respect of Austin James Mercer, but I will win the Internet Championship from him and walk out of York the new champion! Austin can crack all the jokes he wants but there’s a storm brewing and unless he braces himself, I’ll be the one laughing as he’ll be blown away by “The Metal Storm” Caleb Storms and I’ll win the SCW Internet Championship!”

I raced to catch up with Katie as the scene fades.
