Friendly competition?
« on: December 14, 2018, 06:28:18 PM »
There is always the risk in this sport that once in a while you’re going to have to stand across that six-sided ring and stare down someone, you call a friend. For Ben Jordan that’s almost a weekly occurrence but for Evie it’s a strange feeling, knowing that she is only a few days away from having to come face to face with either Mackenzie or Charlotte at Climax Control. The feeling is all too real, as both teams look to chase down the second point they require to move on to the next round in the mixed tag team tournament. Most weeks she doesn’t have a problem looking across that ring, mapping out the ways in her mind how she is going to rip her opponents apart limb from limb, yet this week will be the ultimate test for the women who has since turned over a new leaf since her marriage to all round good guy Ben Jordan was made public.

Does she proceed to hunt? Or will the reality of having two of her closest friends in this business standing across the sea of canvas be too much for the Australian Bombshell to handle? This is uncharted territory for the former Sin City Wrestling Bombshell Roulette Champion, yet a win is a win… a point is a point and she knows how much her husband wishes to advance into the finals of the Mixed Tag Team tourney. You see Ben is competitive, it’s one of the many driving forces that run through the course of his veins and there is no way on god’s little green earth that Evie could stand beside him and let him down.

Reality is, she was going to have to switch off her feelings when it came to Mackenzie and Charlotte. Evie was going to have to paint them in a different light all so she could push past them in that ring on Sunday night and help her team capture the next golden point. It wasn’t going to be easy, London Underground were a solid tag team and they had shown on many occasions that they were the free bird team to look out for. They were the pinnacle of tag team wrestling, the blue print if you will and regardless of The Jordan’s being married… they were two people on two completely separate pages when it came to stepping inside the ropes. In their married at home life they were balanced, ying and yang but in the ring Ben would always go tit for tat, while Evie was always on the pursuit of blood. Nothing brought her more joy when it came to her wrestling career, than tearing her opponents down and exposing them for what they are, weak, pathetic contenders.

London Underground, weren’t weak, they weren’t pathetic and they were a serious threat to The Jordan’s moving forward in their quest for the finals at Inception III. And as the days ran down, Sunday was just around the corner, leaving many to wonder how would this all play out. Would the lighter side of Evie ben Team Jordan’s weak link? Or would this softer side, be exactly what they needed to help them move up the ladder towards Team Eggplant?

##

Tuesday the 11th of December;

Most weeks were a mad dash for Ben Jordan and his wife Evie, they would show up to work on Sunday night before joining their friends for a quick round of drinks before they boarded their plane and headed back to the one place that Ben felt most at ease Maine. Yet, this week was different. This week they had stayed a few extra nights in Vegas and for good reason. Evie had been invited to The Golden Ring Casino to take a look at their top notch security system, with one task in mind… to find a weakness.

It wasn’t that Daniel felt like there was a flaw in his system it was just he knew who Evie Luna Baang was. He knew who she really was as their paths had crossed in a previous time frame, when they were living under their very different lives. In his eyes she was one of the best at what she used to do for money and he felt like if there was anyone her could trust to find a kink in the Casino’s security system, it would be her.

Daniel, Os and Ben had spent most of the morning sitting around a table talking about their up and coming match this Sunday. Even thought they would stand across the ring from one another, they were still close enough to joke about it and even egg each other on in the spirit of competition. This week there would be no love lost when it came to the match, yet there would be no hard feelings regardless of the outcome. As the boys spoke about anything from the likes of work, football, to their mother country England they couldn’t help but get distracted from time to time. As flashes of dark mocha hair zoomed past them.

Evie was on a mission, sure this one didn’t involve bullets or blood but still she took Daniel’s request as seriously as she could. She had spent hours this morning running around the casino, looking it up and down combing over the windows, the doors, the ceilings and floors with a fine tooth comb. She knew every establishment like this had a weak point and it was only a matter of time before she put her manicured finger on it. After all it was places like this that had made Evie very wealthy in the past, you have a knack for robbing from the rich to give to herself.

“I don’t know if I should thank you, or be upset with you?” Ben spoke out towards Daniel, as he watched his wife work in full spy mode.

Daniel just smirked, he knew that Ben didn’t fully agree or understand Evie’s past but he could tell from the amused look on his face that Ben was enjoying the image of his wife running around his Casino with a smile on her face.

“Now, now… it will be good for her to dabble back in her rusted skill set.” Dani said with a chuckle.

“Yeah but now we won’t be going back home to Maine…” Ben said with a grumble as he watched his wife round the corner and head up the stairs to the offices. “You see when my wife gets into spy mode, we go to New York.” He said with a sigh. “And I hate that place.” His teeth gnashed together but he wasn’t mad for long as he shrugged it off.

Rocking forward in his chair Daniel just gave Ben a warm smile. “She’s got clean hands now mate.” He brought his pint up to his lips before he continued. “The green minx, has no new stories just legends that get retold around tables.” He nudged Ben. “Plus, I think the wifed up glow outshines her need to wet her bloodlust.” He hoped his words would bring some ease to the Cockney King.

Ben just did his best to smile it off, honestly he never wanted to see his wife back in that line of work but he knew little exercises like todays were enough to wet her appetite when it came to her criminal past. However, something that Daniel had said had him raising an eyebrow.

“The green minx?” his brows borrowed together as he questioned Daniel.

“Oh yeah, in her prime that’s what she was called in hush tones.” Daniel replied. “The women wanted to be her, the men wanted to be with her and yet whenever a bounty came across her head, everyone was in a fury to claim the cash.” Daniel grinned wildly. “She was the ultimate trophy kill. Millions have been placed over that head, and each and every time she lived through it.”

A shuddered went through Ben’s body as he pictured what his wife would have been through back in the day before and during their dating days.

“I’m just thankful she’s out of the game.” He said with a serious tone. “Life would be pretty bland without her.” Instantly his mood picked up.

“And you can thank yourself for that.” Daniel said with a smirk. “Everyone knew she had the end game in sight when she met you. It was only a matter of time and some loose ends she had to tie up.” He placed his pint back down on the table. “You both broke a lot of hearts that day mate.” He continued with a chuckle.

The grin on Ben’s face said it all, knowing that his appearance in Evie’s life was the one thing she needed to get out of this dangerous life she lead. He also couldn’t help but feel a sense of self pride knowing that he had what many wanted and there was nothing they could do about it. He was foolish to think that back in the day that Evie wasn’t a fantasy to some of the men she worked with and against but he knew she was also a prude. She was happy to be looked at and adored but if anyone tried to touch, broken fingers would soon follow. Evie wasn’t your typical spy, hit woman, corrupt government agent. This line of work for her wasn’t like the movies, her back wasn’t hitting the mattress of different men’s beds each night to move forward in her career or in her goals of stealing and obtaining money and goods. She wasn’t that type of girl, she was the type would break your heart just by looking at her and instead of caring, Evie would just laugh. Evie wasn’t in this life to count the notches in her bed post, she was in it count bills and bodies.

A few minutes had passed before Ben piped up and broke the silence. “We should probably go check on the girls.” He said with a concerned look on his face.

Daniel and O’s picked up on what Ben was putting out there and the three were quick to make moves towards the viewing deck that had been turned into offices for London Underground and Nicky George. It didn’t take the three very long to climb the stairs and make their way into the security room where all the cameras were set up. Mackenzie and Charlotte were standing by the door as they watched Evie walked around the room, her eyes always analysing what was in front of her. All of them watched as Evie took a seat behind the main controls and without saying a single thing or even asking for permission she started to tap away at the keys on the keyboard. Tech savvy Charlotte wasn’t too thrilled as she went to take a step up towards the Aussie, but she was quickly pulled back into line by Mackenzie.

“Easy there, I’ve got five hundred on her not even being able to get past your passcode system.” Mackenzie said with a warm smile, hoping to ease her “sister” in crimes nerves.

After a few taps away at the keyboard, Evie’s thick Australian accent bellowed through the room. “I’ve got two grand burning in my pocket saying otherwise.”

Her black polished nails danced across the keys and within a matter of seconds, she was in. Evie had full control over their security system and that was enough to leave Daniel speechless.

“How?” Was all Charlotte could mutter out as she looked towards Daniel with distress across her face.

Evie just licked her lips and without turning around to see the look of shock on all of their faces, she just continued to navigate her way around their security system. Moving their cameras as she pleased.

“Relax Char.” Confidence dripped from her voice as if she was mocking her. “You think I don’t know how to hack into the system that my best friend created?” she spun around in her chair. “There’s only two people in the world who know the override sequence.” Her blood red lips framed her white teeth as she smirked. “Calista… and well?” Evie praised herself as she pointed towards her chest. “Me.”

That still didn’t ease Charlotte’s need to question Evie. The Aussie just spun around in her chair as she went back to work. She probably felt as if she had let the team down but her doubt was soon removed by the next few words that Evie spoke.

“Good girl, Char.” She said with praise. “Everything else is un-hackable.” Evie spun around to face her. “Get that doom and gloom look off your face, would you?” She stood up from her spot in the chair. “You’ve got this place covered from head to toe… you should be proud.”

Charlotte’s harden looked soften as she took in what Evie was saying.

“I’d feel better if I didn’t know your greedy fingers, couldn’t get into it.” Her words were followed by a laugh but the tension in the room was enough to let everyone know that she wasn’t kidding.

Evie looked at Charlotte with cold hard look on her face. “Sometimes we don’t get what we want in this life, Char.” She mocked her. “But since Christmas is around the corner, let me bring a little Christmas cheer your way.

Turning back to the keyboard, Evie was freakish fast as her fingers shifted around the keyboard. It was hard for rest of the room to catch up but Charlotte knew what she was doing and a greedy smirk was back on her face.

“Three… two… one.” Evie slapped the enter key with force.

There was a buzzing sound of Charlotte’s phone vibrating in her leather jacket pocket.

“Merry Christmas love.” Evie said with a wink.

Only Charlotte and Evie knew what she had done as the rest of the crew stood around with slight looks of confusion on their face. Evie just walked away from the keyboard and made her way over to Charlotte to wrap her right arm around her shoulders, squeezing her in a mocking hug. Evie had reset the override sequence and now there was only one person that could get into their system and she was standing in the room, staring down at her phone like a kid on Christmas morning. Well her and of course Calista but she didn’t feel the need to bring that up.

“You’re welcome.” Evie pouted. “Although I’m a little heart broken, you would be concerned that I would have or could obtain access to your system… trust me… I have no interest in making moves towards your money.” Her hands flew up as she pleaded innocence.

Moving away from the girls, Evie stepped into Ben’s right arm as she tucked herself into his side. Her left hand instantly made moves towards his chest, as she gave him a gentle squeeze with her right hand that was careering the top of his hip.

“I think it’s time we head home?” She said feverishly “We should really get out of their way.” Evie was trying to cover her need to get way from here.

She couldn’t deny it, she missed the life of crime at times and the fact that she was standing just twenty two steps away from a vault filled to the rafters of cash was enough to send tingles down her spine. It’s not that she needed money, they had enough they could both retire on, it’s juts Ben knew what Evie was like when it came to cracking safes… it was a downfall of hers like a sickness that each and every safe she encountered needed to be cracked. Ben knew it would be best to get his wife out of here, while he still had the chance.

“How about you two stay for lunch?” Daniel said with a smile. “On the house.” He motioned for Ben and Evie to exit his offices.

“It’s the least we can do since we’re going to drag you across that ring on Sunday.” Charlotte offered with a sinister smile.

Os couldn’t help himself as he let a chuckle leave his lips, taking the group a little off guard. As they all looked towards him, he just quietly shrugged his shoulders before he lead the pack back down the stair towards the restaurant area of the casino. As Evie and Ben walked off hand in hand, she gently placed her head on his shoulder.

“I love it when people get their dreams and capabilities mixed up.” She said towards him with a smile. ‘If anyone’s getting dragged, it’s her.” The competitive spirit was alive and well in Evie.

Ben just looked down towards his wife and he pressed his lips onto her forehead.

“Let em’ have their dreams Eves.” He offered with a wink. “We’ll crush them at Climax Control.” With a discreet pat on his wife’s behind he chuckled to himself.

As the two were led off they stayed pretty well stuck together. Since their marriage was finally out in the open, they didn’t see much point in hiding their affection for one another anymore. There was no more hiding, no more games, no more cat and mouse they could finally hold hands and not have the whole world questioning their motives. Evie didn’t have to worry about the “he was out of her league taunts” and the other onslaught of comments she used to receive because she was finally able to show the world what was hers.

Ben wasn’t the over the top public displays of affection type of guy, but he knew when a good time to hold his wife’s hand was and right now she was surrounded by black jack tables and slot machines and he knew her fever would be running at an all-time high. As they took a seat at a round table, all six of them ordered a round of drinks followed by their meals. It was strange for the competition to hang out just days away from a big event, but it was what it was. Both teams had drawn the short straw and now they would have to lace up their boots and head into the six-sided ring together on Sunday night and stare down the reality that one of the teams was going to walk out with two points, while the other would be left with one.

As the round of drinks was brought over to the table by a smiling Danielle Weston, they all went to take a sip but Mackenzie’s voice was enough to stop them.

“Here’s to us…” She raised her glass. “And may the better team win on Sunday.” She followed up with a cheeky smirk.

“Watch it, you keep glaring at me like that and you won’t make it to Sunday night.” Evie purred back.

“Try me.” Kenzie said and she cracked her neck from side to side.

“You’re cute when you think you have free range.” Evie barked back as she looked at Kenzie before she looked towards Daniel. “Yet we all know you’re at the very end of a short chain.”

Evie raised her glass and the group brought their drinks together for a cheers. In a different circumstance this exchange of words might have been seen as disrespectful but from the smile on all of their faces they knew it was just some harmless banter. As the group continued to chat away, Evie had sunken herself into Ben’s side not letting him go as her hand was placed firmly on his thigh. While Ben had his right arm draped over Evie’s shoulders, keeping her as close to him as possible.  As London Underground exchanged some back and forth amongst themselves over the sight if a police officer walking into their casino, to meet up with Dani to walk her out after her shift had finished. It gave the husband and wife team a minute to catch up and make plans about the rest of their week.

“After lunch we can go straight home to Maine.” Evie said with a smile as she knew he felt more at ease at the lake house.

Ben just shook his head from side to side. “How about we spend some time in New York.” A regretful but sincere smile was on his face. “I hear there’s a colourful duck on display in central park.” He backed up with a chuckle.

“But you hate New York.” She couldn’t hide that she was a little excited to go back there.

It was the birth place of many of their happy memories, Ben just hated it because it reminded him of his business life that had been put on ice while he balanced, Sin City Wrestling and his health.

“But I love you.” Staring directly into her eyes as he spoke.

Evie just smiled wildly as she looked up into her husband’s eyes before they were brought back into the fold of the conversation at the table. She didn’t have to say anything back because he just knew she felt the same way too.

##

This Sunday the Sin City Wrestling fans are in for a real treat when they witness London Underground stand across from Ben and his wife Evie Jordan. In a battle for the next point in the mixed tag team championship tournament. I’d like to say this is going to be an easy match, but its evident there will be no clear cut predicted winner.

Just two teams who are friends outside the ring, finally getting the chance go to go toe to toe with one another. On one side you have the masters of the tag team division and on the other side you have what the viewers are calling the ones to watch. Will Ben and Evie have what it takes to win that all important second point and will they be able to move forward in their quest to take on Team Eggplant in the finals at Inception III?

If you ask Evie, she will tell you that she and her husband have this one in the bag. You see she knows that Ben has what it takes inside the six-sided ring to put both Daniel and Osbourne on notice. She knows that he is good enough to put them away and his side of the tag team is well and truly covered. Ben was once the front runner of the tag team division, he knows his way in and out of the ring and that is why to London Underground, he’ll be unmeasurable threat.

Evie also knows that when it comes from students of the Steven’s gym that the others that followed her footsteps aren’t as good as her, meaning that Mackenzie and Charlotte will suffer the same fate. They will step up, they will give it their all, but Evie will do everything and anything in her power to make sure her and her husband move on to the next round. After all, they had been practising their new tag in tag out move for days now, it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

So, this Sunday it will be a state of unfortunate events for London Underground as they have the rug pulled out from under them… leaving Ben and Evie Jordan to reign supreme and be one step closer to the finals at Inception III. There will no hard feelings outside the ring, but I assure you as close as Evie is to Kenzie and Charley that won’t stop her from ripping them part. After all it is the nature of the beast.

And let it be known after Sunday that the Sin City Wrestling mixed tag team division will be put on notice. The Jordan’s are coming, and they won’t stop until they get their hands on the prestigious mixed tag team championships.
