Jake's path to getting in MMA part 6. Aged eighteen years old. Some years ago. Las Vegas, Nevada. (Off Camera)
It's three weeks since Jake was told he was going to fight in his first amateur MMA fight as he had been cutting a lot of weight, although did have to eat and drink certain amount of food and fluids during the time he's been training. Yesterday, he got weighed and it was at the correct amount of weight and his opponent, a black guy from the United Kingdom known as George Williams from Manchester. The opponent was perfect for Jake because his strengths was George William's weaknesses, vice versa.
Jake walked in the Fighting Underground Talent arena and there were a lot of fighters, preparing or recovering from their fights. As Jake walked in along with Max Cooperman due to Jarold Wilkinson running the promotion, there was a fight going on in the cage. Because Jake had never seen an MMA fight in front of his eyes, he walked a bit closer to the octagon and watched the action going ahead. Two young white guys, although older than Jake were fighting in the octagon.
It's the closest Jake ever got because MMA wasn't well known in Germany, well as of yet as Jake was the first MMA star to come out of Germany. Max walks up to Jake as Jake's interest was fixed on the contest and he taps Jake's shoulder and says this.
Max Cooperman: “Come on dude, your fight is coming up after the two fights on the show.”
Jake Raab: “Do you know how much I've dreamt for this moment to see two fighters up close? Since I was seven years old. The only thing I gotten close to, until tonight was a television screen. That's it.”
Max Cooperman: “I understand due to your country not having MMA big, well yet, until you make it out of being a professional MMA fighter. This is the first step towards that path. Lets go and get you ready for the MMA fight.”
Jake Raab: “Good point, but it's amazing how the atmosphere is here.”
Max Cooperman: “That's nothing, compared to Ultimate MMA Championships and Elite XL bro. This is a beginning before them companies. Lets go to the back, get yourself changed and work on those strikes.”
Jake nods as he walks away from the octagon and goes in a room where he could get himself changed. There wasn't seperate locker rooms because it was the amateur leagues where it was a place for Jake to make his start, before he became a professional MMA fighter. He was going to wear a pair of red shorts, but Max shook his head and tossed them to aside as Jake says this.
Jake Raab: “What's that for? I need to put them on for the fight.”
Max Cooperman: “You don't need those hire gym shorts any more because me and Jarold made you these.”
Max unzipped his bag as he pulls out the shorts they especially designed for Jake. It was in German colours with his surname on the back of them. Max gave the shorts to Jake who looks shocked as he gasps and says this.
Jake Raab: “You guys are serious? Thank you so much.”
Max Cooperman: “You needed new MMA shorts, to stand out who you are and what your all about. Forget your old ones, this will represent where your from. Have you sorted what theme you'll walk out to?”
Jake Raab: “Oh that, yeah. It's I Stand Alone by Godsmack. If you could tell the person who plays the music to play that song, that will be awesome.”
Max puts his thumb up as he leaves to tell the music player person about Jake's choice of theme song as he's still shocked about the shorts as he takes his jeans off and places his new MMA shorts on. He then places his gloves on and sits to wait before taking his t-shirt off. As Max comes back, he says this.
Max Cooperman: “All sorted. Now, lets get the tap and place them on your wrists where the MMA gloves are.”
It seems like Max was acting like he's Jake's coach and corner guy tonight as Max gently place them on his wrists. It took him ten minutes to put on as the next fight was about to start, but it wasn't for Jake. Max digs in his bag and finds a pair of the punching pads. Max places the pads on each of his hands before Max flicks his hand with the pad for Jake to start punching.
Jake punches pretty hard, while skipping as apart of him warming up as he was good at wrestling, no need to work on that side of things, just the punches and kick parts he did. Jake starts kicking the pads of the direction Max went with the pads. Jake continues, until he was told to stop straight after the first fight had finished. There was another fight to go after this one. Jake does some warming up with stretching his legs, doing press and sit ups. He also stretches his arms and circles his shoulders.
Max Cooperman: “You don't seem nervous at all which is unusual for new bred amateur MMA fighter like yourself.”
Jake Raab: “I rarely get nervous for sparring, let alone a fight like this. As I said, it's all I wanted to do my whole life. I didn't care for anything else other than being the best MMA fighter in Germany and in Europe.”
Max Cooperman: “I wouldn't get ahead of yourself just yet as you got guys from United Kingdom in this business. Not to mention this Iceland guy just made it as pro a few weeks ago.”
Jake Raab: “What? Iceland has a big following of MMA?”
Max Cooperman: “Not really, but this guy called Kristjan Baltasarsson is already making people's head turned. Anyway, you got George Williams to focus on. Like we said, he's weakness is take down and wrestling defence, while it's strikes for you. I say keep the fight on the ground as much as you can. Don't let him punch you and defend from every punch you'll get from him.”
Jake wondered who this Kristjan guy was? Since Germany don't show any MMA fights currently due to a lack of television deal over there at the moment. Jake continues to skip and nodding to Max, listening to every word. The two fighters that fought in the octagon came back. Jake bashes his fists together as Max places a mouth guard in Jake's mouth as his music plays on the sound system as he walks out to the octagon, giving a few fans high fives with the commentator announcing Jake to the octagon. He holds his hands in the air and goes to the blue corner, due to his limited experience as the other side was a red corner.
Some rap music plays with George Williams coming out from the same dressing room as he also does high fives to the fans before he steps in the octagon after the commentator announces him in the ring. Both of them got face to face before the referee explains the rules to them as they fist bump before they start fighting. Jake immediately goes for George's weaknesses as much as George was doing everything to punch Jake in his face. He couldn't as Jake weaved all around the octagon, waiting to take him from his feet on the mat.
He does just that as Jake took George from his feet and does a few punches before he goes for the arm bar which then he transfers to a triangle choke. George had nowhere to go, trying to use his elbows to smash Jake, but has no effect after George drops like a stone to a point he was forced to tap out. Max claps from octagon side and cheering for Jake. He pats George on his back, telling him it was a good fight. As the announcer states Jake as the winner in two minutes and thirty seconds by submission. He has his hand raised by the referee as the fans were applauding Jake. Jake walks out of the octagon and goes to the back as Max says this.
Max Cooperman: “Good job today, Jake. Really proud of you. Well done.”
Jake Raab: “Thank you. I was glad to actually fight in front of fans. Would never get this sort of attention in Germany. I guess I'll get changed and head back to the place to have a shower.”
Max Cooperman: “Also Jarold will be proud of you for putting in so much effort to our training. We will give you all the help you need to get better and get you to eventually be a professional MMA fighter and be the first one in Germany to make it there. See you tomorrow.”
Jake placed his regular clothes back on, along with taking the mouth guard off from his teeth before being assisted with gloves removal from the scissors Max had to cut off the tape from. Jake then undid his gloves and places them along with his shorts in his gym bag. He zips it up before he stands up and places the bag over his shoulder and he walked back to his MMA gym. He unlocks the door before walking through it. He closes and locks up before he goes straight to his room, placing some pyjamas on before Jake goes straight to sleep.

“Yeah, why am I not surprised that there were assholes still talking shit behind my back? Because twitter is killing this fucking sport as I mentioned. At least we can move on from that garbage. I did come from the amateur ranks yes, but I was turned pro in a year later. Such a shame none of the MMA companies wanted me and you to fight Fenris. I know how hard you can knock and kick out.
Let me tell you more stories about my MMA career. I was only nineteen years old when I first entered in it. I had to turn amateur to pro as a part of process at the time all of us had to go to, trying it out and it felt great to get a bigger arena and cheer for me. Sadly, wrestlers or staff won't do anything about it.
The point is both of us want to get that last MMA win out of the bag. I admit, you are one tough son of a bitch to knock or submit, let alone get the man to lift up another wrestler in this company. Yes, I've heard of those great names as they also are legends of the sports too, much like Max Cooperman and Jarold Wilkinson were as well. A lot of people wanted this match to happen and it means a lot to hear how much donation money to a youth club in Ham.
You've already stated that having a victory means the entire world, like it does with me and I don't want to lose my job. This is going to be a fight for the ages and no matter what will happen when we fight against each other, the fans will still be remembered for lives lost and other places around the world. I wanted this for a long god damn time and I don't know why we were rejected in both Elite XL and Ultimate MMA Championship. It boggles my mind as to why it never happened.
When it comes to my first title win in MMA when I was in Elite XL back a year and two months ago. I had massive cheers against me because they loved the fights I put on over there and I wish I could see the gym what it looks like now. Can't at the moment. Point is Fenris is always a threat and a pleasure to work with because he's an awesome man who was willing to accept the deal and move on from there.
I can't wait for this MMA fight the fans and everyone has been craving for a long time and it's finally happening, thanks to me that accepted your challenge and I wanted to add this MMA fight in because it was long time needed for the pair of us. I can't wait to fight you, but saying that respectfully, I got to be the top man for this sort of fight. I will do everything I can to knock you down and throw a few punches before you are.
This fight is not like any of the others you've had in SCW and someone needed to test you and how right I was when you needed to be tested without the Lions Den and without Quinton Cross telling us we should put everything on the line and wish you the best of luck and may the best man wins because despite this being an MMA match, I'm The Fiery Target to anyone who messes with me. I will do everything to win this match because we need to and I'm glad to say my dream along with yours came true and we're gonna fuck each other up with blood and scars pouring from our bodies. Good luck my respected opponent of Fenris and may the best man win.”
