Issue #24

I knew when I won this title that the burden would be heavy. But you know, I halfway expected it to be a little heavier. Not that I'm complaining, I have two Vampires after me now. If anything, this is pretty much par for the course right now. But while the road hasn't always been smooth,  It has been incredibly rewarding.

But being a superhero is no bed of roses.

And being a champion simply means you have a big bullseye on your back. But for me, it's what I thrive on.

A few weeks ago, I underestimated Gothika, and because of that, and her overwhelming power, she is now coming for this title at High Stakes. She wants to take this title off of me, and I want to keep it, and further establish my legacy as a champion here in SCW. Though now I fully understand that some people just refuse to accept it, and accept that the division is now more wide open then it's ever been. And that's the kind of competition I love.

Now, I don't feel the need to come out here, week after week, and tell you how great I am, because I have a little more class than that. I have instead,  tried every week that I'm out there, to put on a good show for the folks at home, and show the SCW Bombshells that they no longer have to walk on eggshells or think they are below anyone. This division is stacked with fantastic wrestlers, not bombshells, but wrestlers. That's the kind of thing I enjoy, and I have seen renewed vigor in those female wrestlers. They have that fire, the desire. It's great to see. I great to see all of them hungry.

Speaking of hungry, I have not forgotten that bite that Gothika gave me a few weeks ago. If you think that you're going to feast on me any time soon, you have another thing coming Gothika. Also, it's probably not the most hygienic thing you could do.

After all, you don't know where I've been.

Because I want you to know that I have bathed in garlic for this match, And I have watched the first three seasons of Buffy the Vampire slayer in order to prepare for not only this tag match, but High Stakes when you come for this title.  I know, there were several seasons of Buffy, but let's face it, after season 3, it kinda sucks. But, If it helps,  I will force myself to sit down and watch more seasons.  So I will be fully prepared with stakes and fancy Karate moves in case you think you're going to catch me off guard.

Now, I know the Fallen are planning something devious and evil and such, and I have to rely on Vixen, who I'm sure is looking at me as a future opponent after High Stakes. And I know we're not exactly friends, but much like Simon Jones, I'm out to prove my worth as a tag team wrestler, and I know we can come out on top.

I'm going to trust you Vixen. So, I hope that I can.

As for the Fallen, the final small battle will be raged on Sunday, but after that, the War will be on.

And if I have to, I will stake you.

I'm just saying.

[Roxi and Andrea sit in their apartment, Andrea staring at Roxi. ]

Andrea - You can't be serious...

Roxi - I'm thinking about it.

Andrea - You can't.

Roxi - Why not?

Andrea - Why not, because you hardly know this guy.

Roxi - We've been on two dates, and he's really nice.

Andrea - But this is the ultimate step. Once you do this, there is no going back.

Roxi - I'm aware of that.

Andrea - I think think it's a terrible idea.

Roxi - Why?

Andrea - Because you're taking too big of a risk.

Roxi - It's a chance I'm willing to take.

Andrea - This is a really stupid choice.

Roxi - I trust him.

Andrea - Maybe a little too much?

Roxi - Maybe, but I can't just keep going on like this if I'm with him.

Andrea - Roxi, you cannot tell him who you are.

Roxi - You worry too much.

Andrea - I don't think you worry enough. What if you guys break up, you could inadvertently create an enemy who knows your true identity. This could be Clint all over again.

Roxi - I don't think Ted has any superpowers.

Andrea - That's not the point. He'd be armed with information. Something that could lead to a lot of bad stuff.

Roxi - I just don't want to go through life hiding anything from somebody I...like...a lot.

Andrea - You were about to say "love" weren't you?

Roxi - Maybe. I think we're close on that.

Andrea - I still think this is a bad idea.

Roxi - If I can't trust Ted with this, Am I ever going to be able to?

Andrea - Rox, this is a silly idea.

[ The apartment buzzer rings. ]

Roxi - That's him. I gotta go, we'll talk about this later.

Andrea - *Sigh* Just don't do anything stupid.

Roxi - Syd, It's me.

Andrea - I know...

Roxi - I heard that.

[ Roxi and Ted are now in Ted's apartment, after a nice dinner and movie date. ]

Ted - Well, that was fun.

Roxi - It was, I had a really nice time.

Ted - So, what do you think?

Roxi - I think so.

Ted - What?

Roxi - Hmm? Nothing. What were you saying?

Ted - What do you think of this place?

Roxi - It's nice. What's the rent?

Ted - I think it's about 8.

Roxi - Wow. For all this? That's quite a deal.

Ted - Yeah....So, would you like anything to drink? Coffee? Water? I have some wine in the fridge.

Roxi - Uh...some water is fine...

Ted - Okay. I'll  be right back.

[ Ted walks into the kitchen. ]

The man keeps wine in his fridge? He's either a drunk, or he's done this before...

Ted - Here's your water.

Roxi - Thanks.

Ted - So, anything new and exciting in the world of pro wrestling?

Roxi - Well, I just won a tag match.

Ted - That's good right?

Roxi - Yeah. I think so.

Ted - I still can't get over the fact that you do something that dangerous.

Roxi - Well, I guess I'm full of surprises.

Ted - Like what?

Think of something...quick!

Roxi - ...uh...Maybe you can find out.

Ted - Oh. Those kind of surprises.

Well, now you sound like a slut. Way to go.

Roxi - What I mean is...I am really flexible...

SLUT!

Roxi - No, I...I used to be a gymnast and a cheerleader...

WHORE!

Roxi - No, No... I mean...I've just been really athletic all my life.

Ted - Nice. I tried weight lifting, I was good at it until I turned 21.

Roxi - Oh, what happened?

Ted - I switched to 12 ounce curls.

Roxi - ....

Ted - I started drinking.

Roxi - Oh...

Ted - But, I've been sober for a long time. I only drink on occasion. Such as being with a beautiful woman like you.

Roxi - Aww...that's really sweet.

Ted - So, can you still do all those flips and stuff?

Roxi - I...think so.

Ted - Why not do one right now?

Roxi - No. That's okay.

Ted - Come on...

Roxi - I really shouldn't.

Ted - Shouldn't? Or can't?

Roxi - I can still flip, I just don't want to.

Ted - What are you, chicken?

Roxi - I am not.

Ted - Then do one...I BET you can't.

Roxi - ....

Ted - Bwak...bwak...

Roxi - Alright fine. What do I get if I win?

[ Roxi stands up and readies herself  ]

Ted - Win what?

Roxi - This bet.

Ted - If you win...I don't know, I'll let you pick.

Roxi - Really?

Ted - Yup.

Roxi - Alright.

[ Roxi of course does the backflip with little to no effort. ]

Ted - Wow, that's impressive.

Roxi - I know.

Ted - So, what does the bet winner want?

Roxi - Hmmm... How about you, give me...a lapdance.

Ted - A lap dance?

Roxi - Yup. Now put on some music and drop those drawers.

Ted - Really?

Roxi - Get on it.

Ted - Alright...

[ Ted puts his drink down, and puts on some music and proceeds to do the lap dance. Fade on that. Because nobody wants to see that. ]

[It's hours later, and Roxi is in Ted's bed. Asleep. She rolls over still with a smile on her face. ]

What a night....I can't believe I did that. I think that this is really love. I wonder...I...I think I'm going to tell him.

[ She opens her eyes to find him at the foot of the bed, clothes already on. ]

Roxi - Hey...

Ted - Hey.

Roxi - I have something...I want to tell you.

Ted - Listen, I...I have to go. I called you a cab.

Roxi - Where are you going?

Ted - Out. I have some things I need to take care of.

Roxi - ...It's 2am.

Ted - Have to get an early start. Sorry. I wish I could talk, but I have to go. If you could...let yourself out?

Roxi - ... Yeah...

Ted - Thanks.

[ With that, Ted gets up and walks out the bedroom door, Leaving  Roxi to sit up on the bed and wonder. ]

What was that? I should follow him...No...what am I, a stalker? But what if he's in trouble? I don't know what to do...I want to trust him, but that was so strange...

No Rox, calm down. He's a grown man...going out at 2am...

No...just leave him alone. It's okay....okay...
