Family matters
« on: July 10, 2012, 12:26:08 PM »
It was the day after my promo for my debut match, Katie and I had long past settled our differences stemming from yesterday’s promo but unfortunately for her it hadn’t taken long at all for the other family members to find out about it.

I should probably explain, see my family is a pretty large one, two girls (me and Katie) and three boys make up the siblings of the family and we’re pretty close, well as close as a family of adopted kids could be anyway, my stepmom tried to give birth a few times before settling on adoption once she realized that she couldn’t give birth due to a medical condition, she tried five times before realizing the truth so they agreed that they should try to adopt five kids, Katie was the first and me? I was the last.

As you can probably imagine my siblings have been chewing Katie out for humiliating me on National TV like that and possibly screwing up the best chance I’ve had to make something of myself since I started wrestling, I tried putting up with it at first but I eventually gave up and locked myself in the bedroom before drowning out the screaming contests with Pantera’s Cowboys from Hell album, they had been going at it for several hours now and I’m beginning to wonder if the guitar mastery of Dimebag Darrell will be enough to drown out the noise coming from the main room.

“Ugh, I don’t need this shit!” I muttered under my breath as the album stopped playing and the sounds of Katie’s latest screaming match with Craig, the second youngest of the five siblings, soon filled the air, it was still early in the morning so I hadn’t gotten dressed yet, normally Katie would remind me to get dressed but she’s been too busy getting yelled at by my other siblings I lay down on my bed, grabbed the nearest pillow and tried to use it to block out the yelling, that didn’t work so I started getting dressed slipping on one of my many Exodus tops, a pair of blue jeans and black boots before grabbing a pen and paper, I quickly wrote down a note that said:

“Katie:

I tried putting up with it, I tried drowning it out with my music but your screaming contests with our siblings are getting too much for me to handle, I’m heading down to the lobby for breakfast, if you want to find me once your done you know where to find me.

Signed: Jessie”

I quickly unlocked the door to my room and left the note on the kitchen counter where she would easily be able to find it, before leaving the hotel room, the sight of a heavily tattooed young woman walking down the hallway did cause some heads to turn and some other tattoo enthusiasts even stopped to complement me on my ink but besides that it was a quick trip down to the hotel restaurant, the food may cost me an arm and a leg but I have some cash saved up and my upcoming SCW Debut should cover it, I took a seat and looked at the menu.

“You’re looking a bit out of place, aren’t you Jessie?” A familiar voice asked from a nearby table and I looked up, it was my older brother Jake and I grinned when I saw him.

“This is coming from the 6ft 10 guy whose dreadlocks look like they have a life of their own most of the time.” I grinned as I set down the menu. “Jake? I’m not complaining but why are you here?”

“The situation with your sister, that’s why.” Jake sighed and I lowered my head. “I’m guessing you finally got fed up with the screaming contests?”

“Yeah, after I tried drowning them out with Pantera.” I sighed as I shook my head. “So where Craig and Johnny as pissed off as Katie as they sounded on the phone?”

“Even more so than what you probably heard.” Jake said shaking his head. “That’s the kind of thing you shouldn’t say in front of strangers and especially not on National TV.”

“I agree there.” I said as I turned to my brother. “Not to mention humiliating me like that.”

“Yeah, Craig had a real go at her for pulling that on you.” Jake said before inviting me to join him at his table, I grinned before going over to his table and sitting down opposite him. “So err, any news on what the bosses might do now that they know about…..you know…..”

“None yet, it wasn’t exactly something I mentioned when I signed the contract.” I said with a sigh as I looked over the menu. “It’s like I’ve said before, my mistakes are nobody’s business but my own unless it’s a family member.”

“Yeah, don’t blame you, if I hadn’t been so honest about it during your promo then who knows what kind of rumors might have floated around.” Jake said as he shook his head. “When I was serving in Iraq eight years ago a guy in my regiment came out of the closet thinking it might help us bond a bit, then the rumors started spreading about who he slept with and he went AWOL rather than face them.”

“Jake, that’s not exactly encouraging.” I pointed out with a sigh. “I thought the army had a Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Policy regarding that kind of thing anyway.”

“They do, but that didn’t stop the rumors.” Jake said before shaking his head. “That’s not why I’m here anyway; I and your sister had a chat about……well everything that’s transpired over the past few days including what happened at Climax Control.”

“What? You’re going to demonize me for having a bit of fun on my first night with the company as well?” I sighed as I glanced to the floor.

“Jess, you know me better than that! Off course I won’t.” Jake said reassuringly and I grinned at that. “As I said we talked and we agreed that I should accompany you two on the road and help out with everything.”

“Wait, really?” I asked with the surprise evident in my voice. “But our hotel room is a two room one, where will you be staying?”

“Kate sorted that out for me, I’ll be staying in a hotel room just down the hall from your room.” Jake told me and I grinned. “Following that, well we’ll see how it goes, but keep in mind that I will be helping Kate keep you on the straight and narrow.” Jake said and I frowned at that. “But unlike her I won’t be above letting you have a bit of fun every now and again.” Jake added and I grinned at that. ”So, your facing Miss Evangelista and Alexis Morrison this week, think you can beat them?”

“I’m not sure, I looked at both of their bios and they have a ton of experience under their belts, me? I’m a four year pro; they definitely have an experience edge over me.” I sighed as the waiter came over to take our orders, I didn’t order much just a small meal as I wasn’t that hungry, Jake, being the big eater he was ordered the largest meal on the breakfast menu and the waiter walked off. “You’re going to give yourself a heart attack if you keep eating like that?”

“Nah that’ll never happen, I was in the army remember? I’m made of stronger stuff than that!” Jake said with a good natured grin. “If anything you need to eat more anyway.”

“Ha, ha, ha, I may not be as big as you but I’m hardly skinny.” I said sticking out my tongue. “Besides I keep myself in good shape by working out, not to mention wrestling.”

“Yeah, I’ll admit that is true, and I’m sure the guys who were checking you out as you walked in can attest to that.” Jake said and I blushed a bit at that, however his tone went from joking to serious in a matter of moments. “Look, Jess, I may not be above letting you have some fun every now and again but if I feel the need to put my foot down I will.”

“Got it.” I replied reluctantly as our meals arrived, my meal wasn’t as big as his but then again the same could be said for most of the meals on the menu. “You sure you’re gonna be able to eat all that?”

“Aren’t you forgetting who you’re talking too?” Jake asked and I grinned at that. “Don’t worry about the bill either, I’ll pay for it.”

“Wait, really? Jake I have some cash saved up; you don’t have to do this.” I protested but Jake shook his head.

“Hey just because you’re going to be bringing in some serious money working for this company and NWA doesn’t mean…..” Jake started but stopped when he saw the confused look on my face. “You haven’t signed up for the NWA?”

“No, I think I’ll wait a few weeks before I do anything like that.” I said shaking my head. “Besides I still don’t know how tough the competition here is going to be, let alone in the NWA.”

“Fair enough but you are going to see about getting signed up for the rankings at some point right?” Jake asked and I shrugged my shoulders in response.

“Enough talk, I think our food’s getting cold.” I pointed out and Jake realized that I had a point before we started eating our meals.
