To blindside; the art to simply do or say something that a person is utterly unprepared for.

That’s what had just happened to Evie, she wasn’t prepared to see her name tagged on Twitter. She wasn’t informed that her name had been signed up to the Blast from the Past tournament and yet, here she was... a participant.

Against her will, against her knowledge and truth be told she felt helpless, like all control had slipped out of her fingers.

Evie hadn’t felt this way in a while, overwhelmed, it was like everything around her was frozen and yet her heart still had the audacity to beat. It might have seemed silly for her to act this way, but her Husband had gone behind her back and entered her name without first discussing it with her. That didn’t sit well with the Australian Bombshell, she was so used to them over communicating, to have her Husband pull a sly one on her and make a move about her future without her knowledge was enough to bring a lump to lodge itself in the back of her throat.

Evie wanted to scream at him, she wanted to cut him down with her seething words, but all she could do was stand there looking at him. Ben Jordan had a goofy smile, plastered on his face from ear to ear. In his mind, he had surprised her at no point did he think about the consequences. After all this was no big deal, right? Evie was a former Sin City Wrestling World Bombshell Champion, a former Blast from the Past winner, the only Bombshell in history to appear in back to back finals or even make two finals. She should be thanking him right, she should have been rushing towards him, leaping up into his arms and showering him with kisses for granting her this opportunity to head back into the six-sided ring. Yet, all Evie could feel was the carpet beneath her feet and it felt like quicksand. She was desperately waiting for the ground to open and swallow her whole. In fact she was begging for it to happen.

Ben’s voice sounded like a muffled mess as he spoke towards her, but Evie couldn’t make out the words. Her body still stiff from betrayal. Had he betrayed her? Had Ben, betrayed her trust or was she completely overreacting? All Evie could tell is that she didn’t like this... not at all, not one bit. The thought of lacing up her wrestling boots once more and stepping back side a wrestling ring, twisted knots in her stomach. It had been well over a year since her last match. A tag team match with her husband, sadly it resulted in them both losing. All passion for this business was lost that night, when she knew her presence in this company was now going to impact on her husband’s matches. Evie knew she had to head towards the exit and not look back. The last thing she wanted was to be a ball and chain on his career, the last thing she wanted was Mark and Christian, making him suffer in tag matches with her…

Ben Jordan was above that, the proof was in the pudding as now he was the Sin City Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion.

Evie had no place inside the ring anymore, she had no desire to return, no grudges left unsettled no need to climb any ladder and reach for the stars. Truth be known she was happy with her short lived career in Sin City Wrestling, she brought a new fear to the bombshell ranks that hadn’t been seen since Misty’s days of stalking the halls. She brought a new picture of pain, when she chuckled inside a barbed wire match with Alexis. Evie had no reason to miss the ring, since leaving Sin City Wrestling she had become a successful architect, designing multimillion dollar homes for the rich and famous. Her plans, were sort after and fought after from lucrative buyers. She could thank her expensive taste for her success, she knew what rich people wanted, a way to show off their wealth but more importantly a way to keep it safe and sound. Who knew that’s Evie’s scandalous past of robbing from the rich, would line her pockets once more but this time it was all legal. The way Evie was going, she would have enough work for the next ten years, now she was going to have to put clients on hold all because of the man standing in front of her.

The Jordan’s rarely fought but when they did, Evie was known to be unreasonable, she was known to have a short fuse and when Ben really pushed her buttons the two together became combustible. Like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, they left a trail of destruction behind them. The last fight they had led to them needing to renovate their kitchen, as they completely demolished the foundations. Everyone may think Ben is a sweet little lamb when it comes to his marriage with Evie, but behind closed door he was just as much of a ravenous lion as what she was an insatiable lioness. They were both extremely passionate people, and when backed into a corner, they both knew how to fight. Their rare occasion fights, usually started to with stern words that lead to shouting that led to Evie losing her cool and hurling thing. She never aimed for Ben, Evie would never hurt her Mundo, never in a million years it’s just at times Evie didn’t have the right words to express her rage you can blame her childhood for that.

However this time was different, Evie didn’t have words at all there was nothing she could say and the more she watched his mouth move in front of her and the closer he stepped towards her the more Evie wanted to turn and run. She wasn’t just mad at her husband, she was disappointed and well the closer he moved towards her, he could tell by the look on her face he was in for a wild ride.

“Eves!” Ben’s voice was just above a whisper as he moved towards his wife. “You’re not mad at me right?” a sigh escaped his lips as if he already knew the answer.

Her mouth opened, as she licked her lips before she sucked her plump blood red bottom lip back into her mouth. Her top teeth acting like a cage as she bit down on the fleshy part of her bottom lip. Evie’s deep hazel eyes, were watered as she looked up at him. Normally their height difference didn’t cause her any discomfort but right now, she felt like he was over shadowing her. Looking away from him, Evie looked towards the floor, her focus on his feet as he inched closer towards her, she could feel that he was reaching out to touch her. Ben desperately wanted to make this all better, he hated seeing his wife like this, especially when it came to him. He would much prepare her to be yelling, cussing and throwing her hands up at him, it was when she was silent that he knew he had well and truly messed up.

“Eves, please…” He whispered, as if he was scared to wake the dead. “Talk to me.” His voice was laced with concern.

Evie watched as he lifted his arms, place them open palmed on her shoulders. It didn’t take Evie long to roll her shoulder back, knocking her husband’s hands away, it wasn’t a reaction either of them were used to. Evie was a sucker for her husband, his touch was everything she wanted and needed but right now she couldn’t deal with any of this. Her mind was in over drive, the sound of silence filled the air between them, it was so quiet that Evie could hear his lips part once more as he went to speak. Yet he didn’t have a chance to get his words out, as Evie took a step back, her arms raising as if she was in surrender.

“I can’t…” she stumbled. “I can’t do this…” a sharp gasp followed.

She couldn’t look up at him, as she knew those words would have killed him, just as much as they killed her. Evie just turned on the balls of her feet, without another word she left him standing there. February 20th was meant to be a fun day for Ben Jordan, it was meant to be a day filled with celebration, he had signed his wife up to the Blast from the Past and once again they would be back on tour together as active competitors in Sin City Wrestling. It was such a shame that Evie couldn’t see the good, all she could see was the blindside and right now that wasn’t sitting well with her.

Ben watched as Evie walked out of their main living area, he knew she wouldn’t go far. Evie wasn’t the one to go for long walks when she was angry, she was the type of Aussie that liked to sit and stew in her madness, making it a nest, letting it fester like an infected wound. It wasn’t until Ben heard their bedroom door slam violently shut, that his body involuntarily moved, the sound of wood slamming starling him. Evie don’t get it wrong was a very spiteful, vindictive person but when it came to her husband Ben Jordan, he never suffered by her hands or by her words. She was a different woman around him, polite, loving, calm, he was her home but right now she couldn’t find the words, the right words to say. Removing herself from the toxic situation, Evie knew she had to gather her thoughts before she could let him know just exactly how she felt.

Ben rocked his head back on his shoulders, his body already broken from days ago. As if him being locked inside the ring with Fenris at My Bloody Valentine wasn’t punishment enough to have his body battered and bruised. Now, his body was tense and heavy. The weight of an angry wife sat upon his shoulders, holding him down like wet bag of cement. He had never seen Evie so quiet, no had he seen her so tense and caught off guard, it was unfamiliar waters for him, but Ben was a smart man, he knew damn well to give Evie some time to cool off but inner Ben still wanted to make sure his wife was okay. The last thing he wanted to see was her packing her bags, or tears streaming down her face.

A groan escaped his lips as he took off in Evie’s direction, however he didn’t get far as Bear their giant American Akita, barreled in through the front door. Brushing past Ben like he wasn’t even there. Bear clicked his feet across their wooden flooring, heading straight towards their bedroom. To add insult to injury Bear turned to look towards Ben, turning his nose up before trotting off to find his mum.

“Man’s best friend, my arse.” Ben scoffed as Bear let out a yawn. “It’s just not my day.” Ben whispered.

He looked around the living room for options, the only one that was glaring at him was their brown leather couch. Ben knew Evie would need a moment to let everything sink in, he also knew that she would have to zoom past him if she planned on leaving the house, so he set his plan in motion.

“The couch it is.” A groan escaped his lips as he changed his direction.

Heading over towards the couch, he took a seat, before choosing to lay down, from this angle he could see the black TV screen like a mirror and watch any movements that may or may not happen behind him. How mad could she really be? And it wasn’t like Evie was going to stop talking to him completely, they were married after all. This fight would be over before they knew it.

###

It was heading on to two weeks later and even though Evie hadn’t packed her bags and rushed off into the night, she still stuck by her husband. She kept up public appearances, heading to Scotland with Ben so he could play cards with Fenris backstage in some sort of rebuilding the friendship type exercise. The two of them continued to spend time together, making small talk but Evie refused to talk to him about anything Wrestling or Blast from the Past related. It was a hard two weeks, Ben didn’t know if he was Arthur or Martha, half the time. One-minute Evie was holding his hand, hugging him for fan photos the next minute she was walking twelve steps in front of him, as if his new aftershave was enough to repulse her. They started each morning with a kiss, ended each day with a kiss but when it came to sharing a bed Ben felt the polar ice caps of Antarctica as Evie turned her back on him, ignoring his existence. Talk about whiplash, it was as if Ben had been in a head on collusion and weeks later, he was still reeling from the impact. At least he had Bear who had forgiven him, partly because even he thought Evie was being dramatic.

Scotland had come and gone and now the Jordan’s had found their way to York, England. Climax Control was just around the corner and Evie was booked to take part in her first match back in well over a year in Sin City Wrestling. Round one of the Blast from the Past had her teaming with a muppet, that being Mark Cross the SCU Heavyweight Champion, the two of them would be taking on Jessie Salco and Mr. SCW himself Travis Andrews. A walk in the park, right? Yet, Evie hadn’t even began to prepare for this Sunday night instead she was ignoring it all together. In her mind, she wasn’t even going to show up to the arena on Sunday. Ben could go by himself, seeing as he already teed himself up to appear in a drinking contest. In her frame of mind, she didn’t want to be baby sitting her drunk fool of a husband, she wanted nothing to do with York, England and the fact that she had to be here for a match was enough to harden the blood in her veins. A Heart attack would have been kinder to her right now, then herself.

It was Thursday and Evie had spent the morning in their hotel room, listening to Ben make phone calls and arrangements to catch up with his old friends, as they grew closer and closer to reaching Ben’s hometown. She cringed at the sound of excitement in his voice, how could he go on like nothing had happened and just carry on with his day to day duties when he knew he had a wife seething in the background. It wasn’t like he hadn’t tried to get her to talk to him, every day he tried his luck over a hundred times, to get just a glimmer of resolution from her but each time she shot him down. The cold shoulder was wonderful, it was Evie’s coping technic that she had perfected down to a fine art. She couldn’t blame him from planning nights out, she didn’t even want to be with herself at a time like this but still, in her mind, he was still in the wrong and she was right.

During the day Ben took Bear out to the local park, letting the big guy stretch his legs, while Ben took his time meeting and greeting with fans. It was what he did in every city they ventured to. Ben was a people person, he loved meeting new people. He had asked Evie if she wanted to go with them, already knowing the answer she refused. Evie was going to take the day to mop, to try and silence the demons that were taunting her in her mind, but they wouldn’t settle. They wouldn’t give her a break, not even a slight second to piece everything together and realize that she was being a massive bitch. Instead she decided to put one foot in front of the other and accept the fact that she would the standing inside the six-sided ring again this Sunday night, she might as well become accustomed to the fact that some form of preparation wouldn’t go astray. She still wasn’t feeling up to getting back inside a ring, so she figured she would start off small by trying on her old ring gear. The greatest mistake of all, as she quickly learnt that they no longer fit.

The rest of the afternoon was spent, just looking at herself in a full-length mirror, wondering where it all went wrong, wondering how on earth she had gone up a full size? How was she meant to get back into the ring, she was out of practice and now it appears she was out of shape? Evie had never had an image problem but right now, she couldn’t stand the sight of herself. This whole being a woman right now, felt toxic. The world was a box and it was closing in on her and Evie didn’t have the words to try and put this all together. Soon enough like a fish out of water she was gasping for air, a full-blown panic attack was crippling her. The big bad super spy who had murderous blood coursing through her veins was now being road blocked by her own damn insecurities. Turns out her father was right; she was her own worst enemy. Looking down at her hands Evie could see them shaking, her couldn’t determine if this was fear or if this was just pure rage trying to escape her all she knew is that she needed it to stop, she needed this all to go away, Evie wanted control.

That evening, Evie had run herself a boiling hot bath, the water was that hot it turned her skin blistering red within seconds of contact. She didn’t care, like most females the thought of a pure hot bath was enough to euthanize the thoughts pounding away in her mind. There were just enough bubbles in the bath to, bring some girliness into madness. Candles were lit around the dark bathroom, as she just sunk herself into the lavish egg-shaped marble bath. Ben always made sure Evie had the best of the best when they travelled and if that meant splashing as much cash as he could at a hotel room, to keep his wife happy he was more than accommodating. It wasn’t a flex of his, he just knew that Evie had expensive taste for homes, designs and hotels. Plus, in the back of his mind he knew she loved picking the hotel suites apart, her designer mind running wild with ideas of how she could improve the place, or what ideas she could copy and bring into her house plans. They were the ultimate team, when they were on the same page, always making sure they were in each other’s corners no matter the cost. Materialist or emotional. It didn’t matter. They would walk bare foot across nine-inch nails just to see the other one smile.

Evie rested her head back, against the soft stone her eyes instantly closing, she finally had control of her thoughts she was finally somewhere she could push all her problems aside and try and tackle them one by one. Evie knew she hadn’t been the best wife as of late, she knew she needed to communicate more but when she was struggling to find the words, she didn’t want to lash out and burn him with hate. He didn’t deserve that. As Evie tried to piece everything together, she felt a presence in the room. Even with her eyes closed, she could sense him. Ben wasn’t the swiftest when it came to surprises, but he did try his best. She heard him unzip his jeans, before guiding them down his legs. She heard his feet lift off the tiled floor, right foot followed by his left. She knew that as Ben tended to put more of his weight on his left side, he was a little off balance and that’s how he over come the struggle of gravity when he was on one foot. That’s how she knew left after right. It didn’t take long before she felt the water level in the bath rise, as he did his best to slip in undetected, but he couldn’t keep quiet for long.

“Jesus Christ.” He yelped. “What are you trying to do, boil my boys?” He winced as the hot water washed over his body.

Evie didn’t even bother to open her eyes she just let a little chuckle escape her glossed lips.

“You weren’t invited.” Her harsh Australian accent made that comment sting more than it should have.

“Well, too bad, I’m here now.” He splashed around trying to get comfortable.

Ben just poked his tongue out of her, thinking he was safe as her eyes were closed. As Ben moved around the bathtub, his movements cause the water to spill up over the sides splashing down to the floor. The peaceful place that Evie was in, was now being earth quaked by her six-foot-tall husband who was trying his hardest to squeeze into a one-person sized bath, just so he could spend time with her. Evie let him settle, his back resting up against the marble as his body adjusted to the temperature of the bath, he could see steam rising from the water.

It felt like hell, as sweat started to bead at his forehead, but he knew that’s how Evie liked it. Opening her eyes Evie could see his discomfit, a sigh escaped her lips as her perfectly outstretched body was taking up most of the tub, while Ben was crammed up to one end, his knee poking out the top of the water. Without saying a word, Evie moved across the bath, pulling his legs down so Ben could be outstretched. Evie placed herself on his lap, but she wasn’t facing him. She had her back to his chest and as the two settled into their spots, Evie’s head rested on the front of his chest. Ben’s chin rested gently on the top of Evie’s head, as his arms came around wrapping her up in a hug.

“You’re like a bull in a china shop.” Evie whispered as she closed her eyes.

“Agile and assertive. Nothing wrong with that.” He said proudly. “It’s a bit hot though don’t you think? Now I know why beets go red when you boil them” Ben panted.

Evie just smirked, he was clumsier and more reckless but sure, she wasn’t going to burst his bubble. She also didn’t take any notice of his discomfort; he could afford it if he wanted to spend time with her.

“I noticed someone tried on their wrestling gear, does that mean someone is stepping back into the ring this Sunday?” He changed the subject, trying to remove the elephant in the room.

A sigh escaped her lips, she didn’t want to talk about it, but she couldn’t just not talk to him for the rest of her life. That was no way to have a happy healthy marriage.

“Tried, might just be the key word.” She whispered, making him really pay attention to her words. “They didn’t fit.” Another sigh left her lips this time more forceful. “Turns out, I’m a heavyweight”

Ben snorted, not because he was laughing but because he was taken back by the look on his wife’s face. Even with her eyes closed he could tell she was fighting back her anger.

“Or, it means… you haven’t worn them for a long time, and they shrunk because they were in storage for over a year in the blistering heat and icy cold of bar harbor?” He pressed his lips on the top of her head, giving his wife a kiss.

“That’s not how fabric works, but nice try my love.” She nestled her head into him to get closer.

“You’re not over thinking this are you?” He looked down to the side to watch her reaction. “You’re by no means a heavyweight, if anything that arse of yours had gotten rounder from all those crazy workouts you’ve been doing.” He said proudly. “I would know, I keep my eyes on it all the time.” He chuckled. “You know for safe keeping.” His lips pressed against her temple this time.

Evie could feel Ben’s grip around her tighten as he held onto her for dear life.

“I’m not ready for this Sunday Ben, in no way shape or form.” She groaned. “I’m out of my depth, I haven’t stepped foot inside a ring to compete in over a year. This is all way too confronting.” She snarled, angry at herself. “I’m going to be tossed around the ring like a ragdoll by Jessie Fucking Salco, of all people.” Another unamused groan left her lips. “Fuck me, talk about humiliating.” Her blood was boiling at the thought of Jessie beating her.

“That’s never going to happen.” Ben amused the conversation. “You could walk out there with both arms tied behind your back and still slap her about.” He chuckled.

Evie cracked a smile, even if it was a half arse attempt it was still something she hadn’t done for a while. Ben noticed his wife’s facial expressions shift, and for a split second he was out of the woods and back in the game.

“You still mad at me?” he questioned. “I just made you smile.” He squeezed her tightly.

“Oh, I’m still livid Benjamin.” Her tone told no lie.

Ben’s eyebrows came together as he looked down at his wife, but he was smart enough to keep his lips sealed. He had realized that he had put her in an uncomfortable spot, but he had also realized that she wasn’t mad at him she was more overwhelmed with the fact that she was heading back into the ring, after a year off. Evie had every right in the world to be doubting herself, selling herself short. Knowing it was best to stay silent, Ben just held onto her tightly, as Evie tucked herself into his right arm, resting her check on his arm, she closed her eyes trying to find peace.

###

Sunday was just days away and that mean Climax Control was just around the corner. Evie was set to return after a year out of the ring to tag up with Mark Cross to take on the team of Jessie Salco and Travis Andrews. Was she excited? No. Was she looking forward to it? No.

Evie was one of the most dominate forces when it came to the Blast from the Past tournament a two-time finalist, one-time winner… she wasn’t the one to take lightly but this year her heart simply wasn’t in it all because of her husband’s blindside…

However, you know what they say? An angry Evie is a successful Evie and well that meant Jessie Salco was facing a world of pain this Sunday night. Jessie had spent the last eight years trying to win the Blast from the Past, it was just super unfortunate that her path would have to cross Evie’s come Sunday. You see Evie didn’t have to worry about Cross or Andrews, all she had to do was keep her focus on Salco and trust me, even under all this self-doubt and all this anger Evie knew she could never let someone like Jessie Fucking Salco get the better of her.

There was no way she was just going to lay down and let her pin her, walking away with the bragging rights that so little in Sin City Wrestling had to their name. Evie wasn’t going to let a smug little piece of shit like Jessie stand in the way of her return match in Sin City Wrestling. Oh no, Evie was going to do what she did best and that was rip her opponents to shreds.

I’m sure Evie herself would have loved to tell you this personally, however as she continues to lick false wounds, her mind is elsewhere, as she toys with the idea of no showing this whole damn event. Teaching Ben a lesson, on communication. Yet, we all know that deep down Evie has been waiting to step back into the ring, she had been waiting to defend her crown… she has been waiting to right a wrong… she has been waiting for the right moment to seize the opportunity to become the first ever two-time Blast from the Past winner.

It’s such a beautiful shame that Jessie Salco, must be the lamb led to slaughter and on Sunday night, believe me the streets of York will run red. A town will be silenced a crowd will be left in awe. As a part of Evie that hasn’t seen the light of day for a very, very long time… will finally be given just the glimmer of radiance it needed to reenergize.

Come Sunday, Evie will be standing across the ring from Jessie and mark my words, she won’t stop until she puts Salco out of her misery, benching the brat for another year to cradle her hopes and dreams of becoming a Blast from the Past winner. It’s nothing personal, it’s not because she dislikes Jessie Salco, oh no... it’s because she fucking hates her that Evie still purposely stand in her way, road blocking her chance to climb the ladder in this tournament.

All the while, relaunching her own career in Sin City Wrestling.
