As Harper starts her vlog the young wrestler has a quite a bit on her mind as she walks along the beach at Normandy.

”You know, when I started wrestling internationally France had been a destination I wanted to visit, all the history, art, food, what’s not to love for a girl with a sweet tooth like mine?” Harper chuckles to herself as she brushes some hair over her shoulder. ”But I’ll admit, I was tentative when I realized that my first Blast from the Past Match, not to mention my first Mixed Tag Team Match in Sin City is taking place in Normandy, France, as in the beaches of Normandy.” Harper shows the scenic views around her as she glances round. ”Now if you don’t know the history of this location, either the US Education System’s version of history is worse than I remember or you’re not all that read up on WW2 so I’ll keep this brief.

I mentioned this a few times since I became an active wrestler but I’m a military brat, for god’s sake I’m wearing my army jacket to reinforce that idea! The thought of wrestling on a beach where so many American citizens lost their lives to liberate France from the Nazis is definitely a weird one, and I’ll admit, even that description is a super condensed, abridged version of what actually happened because, well, I’d be here all day if I had to go over the intricacies of that famous battle.

Especially when you want to hear me talk about my own battle on Sunday.”

Harper sits down on the sand with a lot on her mind.

”If there was one team you could mark as the underdogs in this year’s tournament, it’s definitely me and Lyle, I’ve only been wrestling for a bit over a year now Lyle is literally about to wrestle his first match and don’t even get me started on our opponents, Diamond Steele, a name that is synonymous with controversy as far as the SCW History Books are concerned, Jayden Harris, the son of Michael Harris AKA easily one of the most hated SCW Champions of all time, like Lyle, he’s entering his first match but with pedigree like that, he’s had to have some training from his dad, right?

Me and Lyle would’ve been up against it no matter who we faced off against, and this match is no exception, but upsets have happened before and who knows? Maybe the controversial one and the brat prince will go out in round one?”

Harper’s Hotel Room, a town near Normandy, France
Monday the 29th of April 2024, 16:00pm

Harper was back to her hotel room checking her twitter feed after filming her vlog on the beach at Normandy, even if that meant she had to dust off the sand from her jeans.

”Sit on the beach at Normandy for the last part of my vlog, I said, it’ll be fun I said, who needs a towel I said!” Harper grumbles as she glances over at the jeans she was wearing for the vlog that were now so caked in sand that she had to get changed into a different pair. ”Almost makes me wish I had worn a bathing suit or even a bikini for the vlog, at least then the only things covered in sand would be my legs and ass! Then again, I probably would’ve gotten undue attention from the kind of male fans that think that female wrestlers like me are only good for fanservice! Never mind the fact that my Taekwondo skills along could kick their asses ten ways from Sunday!”

Before Harper could dwell any more on it she got a Facebook Messenger Call from her aunt Teresa, who had been raising her younger brother and sister since their parents were murdered and was also looking after Logan and Xavier for her whilst she was overseas and answered it. “Hey sis!” Jason and McKenzie greeted their older sister and Harper smiled warmly, her bad mood from a few moments ago all but vanished “How’s France?”

”I literally arrived here from the UK a few hours ago but yeah, France is great!” Harper responded before her aunt Teresa stepped into view. ”Hey auntie! Dogs getting up to much mischief?”

“About as much mischief as young dogs can get up to Harp.” Teresa responded with a warm smile which Harper returned. “Whereabouts in France are they hosting this Climax Control show anyway? I know you said that there were two shows in France but I can’t remember where they are taking place.”

”Yeah, next week’s show is taking place in Vimy Ridge, this week’s show is taking place on the beaches of Normandy!” As soon as Harper said that Teresa’s expression darkened a bit and Harper bit her lip. ”Something I said?”

“Jason, McKenzie, can you leave the room for a minute? Need to talk with your sister.” Teresa asked and the two young kids nodded before leaving the room. “They really booked a show on Normandy of all places?!”

”Don’t look at me, they’re doing shows themed around famous battles from history on this tour.” Harper defended herself as she put her hands up, ”Last week’s show was at the site of the Battle of Hastings, you know, all the way back in 1066!”

“Yeah, anyone who had relatives who fought in that battle is long dead by now.” Teresa nodded as she got the idea. “And I got the jist of how the bosses book these tours from talking with Jessie, Mark tends to focus one specific country, Christian tends to focus on a general theme.”

”Like like year’s unsolved mysteries tour where Jessie won her last Roulette Title or the wonders of the world tour where Jessie lost it.” Harper nodded as she used those tours as an example. ”And before even that, they had the Greek and Indian tours of 2022.”

“We’re getting off track here, but I guess I can say that the bosses keep things fresh.” Teresa commented as she shook her head. “I just find it funny that the one member of my brother’s family who has sworn off military service is the one fighting at all these battlefield sites.”

”Except I won’t be wrestling at every stop of the tour, I wasn’t booked for the Hastings show and it depends on whether the bosses have any plans for me that week.” Harper explained and Teresa nodded as she got the idea. ”Or in this case because my Blast from The Past match is this week.”

“Yeah, Jessie mentioned that and you’re teaming with another rookie right?” Teresa asked and Harper nodded in response. “Who have you got?”

”Diamond Steele and Jayden Harris, Diamond’s one of the most controversial Bombshells ever for reasons I’d be here all week listing, Jayden’s dad is Michael Harris, and if Jessie hasn’t told you about how much of a piece of work that guy is I’ll be surprised.” Harper explained and Teresa quickly nodded. ”Thing is? Jayden’s a rookie like me and Lyle, and he’s wrestling his first match.”

“Like Lyle?” Teresa summarized and Harper nodded in response. “As for Michael Harris? Jessie mentioned him in passing. From what I understood the two never really interacted but that does add up to what she did tell me about him”

”Did I mention that his kid ran over J2H in a Climax Control parking lot last year?” Harper asked and Teresa did a double take. ”Yet as far as I can tell, no charges were ever filed against him, and now he’s employed a year later, what can I say? This sport can be weird.”

“You call it weird I call it deranged and starting to understand why my brother never wanted this life for you Harp.” Teresa commented as she shook her head in disbelief and Harper just sighed. “I know you’re a grown woman who regularly travels the world and all, but you’re still nineteen, as far as I’m concerned? That’s still a kid!”

”Still a kid for a little over four months, it is nearly May.” Harper corrected her and Teresa nodded in acknowledgement. ”Dad mentioned a few times that his granddad fought in WW2?”

“Yeah, he survived the war, came home and lived with the memories of everything he saw in that war, including the Normandy landing.” Teresa nodded as she got the idea. “Passes away not long before your parents met actually, he had been battling cancer for some time but he had a decently long life.”

”Yeah, I’ll say, still, it gives this whole match a new feeling I guess.” Harper responded before checking the time. “I’ll call you back later in the week, hopefully that call will be less awkward.”

“It’ll be quite the achievement to make it more awkward Harp, that’s all I’m saying.” Teresa responded with a grin before she went to hang up. “Stay in touch and try not to piss anyone off enough that they’ll try to hit with a car.”

”speaking of things that would be quite the achievement.” Harper muttered under her breath before she ended the call.

As Harper starts her second vlog the teenager still has a lot on her mind.

”A wise man once said that war never changes, for me, someone who comes from a military family yet fights her wars in the ring instead, that phrase seems apt even if it’s from a video game.” Harper stated as she folded her arms. ”And yeah, I know, wars and wrestling are two very different things, I’m a military brat remember? My dad served in the US Army so off course I know that! I can already here the family members that are in the military yelling at me for that comparison! But think about it, how many matches, for one reason or another, have been described as wars?

If your answer was “too many to count” then I’ve proved my point.”

Which is.

”I never thought I’d have to draw on my family’s history of military service in relation to a wrestling match, hell I’m the only one in the family right now who doesn’t want to join the military and doesn’t plan too, growing up on military bases was hard enough thanks!” Harper added as she let out a deep breath. ”But more to the point, wars and wrestling are synonymous, aren’t they? How many times have you looked at an especially brutal wrestling match and thought “these guys/gals went through a war?” do I expect the match against Jayden and Diamond to be that brutal? No, the match isn’t No DQ for one thing, though that hasn’t stopped anyone before  has it?

My point is, maybe that’s the mindset I should enter every match with? Treat the match like an assignment from a commanding officer, understand the risks and hope it pays off? If that actually carries me and Lyle to the finals then I’ll buy myself a lottery ticket as soon as I get home from the tour!

Until then? Know this, me and Lyle are the underdogs here, the privates if you will, and we’re facing a war if we want to get to the finals at Into the Void, who knows? Maybe we’ll win this thing and shock everyone?”

It was the day after and Harper was relaxing in a café with Josh in a rare break from her training.

”Still feels weird that I’m going to be wrestling on the beaches of Normandy considering my dad’s side of the family has served in the US Army since at least WW2.” Harper commented to Josh once they had finished their appetizers and Josh nodded. ”I doubt the bosses had that in mind since I haven’t really brought up my family’s service history all that much outside of Twitter but it’s still something that’s been on my mind since the Battlefields Tour was announced.”

“I understand Harp, this has to be conflicting for you.” Josh nodded in understanding before he took a sip of his drink. “Have you talked to your surviving family about this?”

”I talked with my aunt Teresa about it, same aunt who’s been raising my siblings for me since my parents were murdered last year?” Harper asked and Josh nodded as he got the idea. ”She was surprised at first until I explained the theme of the tour, then she brought up that my great granddad fought in WW2 and I’m not sure if she was trying to guilt trip me about this whole situation.”

“I know she’s related to Jessie through marriage and that she and Jessie have talked a few times.” Josh explained with a nod as he shifted his weight. “But did Jessie ever bring up how SCW does it’s tour planning?”

”Not to my knowledge, I had to explain the differences in Mark and Christian’s booking philosophies myself and this is my first tour with SCW.” Harper explained as she shook her head and Josh nodded. ”And then I brought up the time Jauden Harris ran over J2H last year and, well, let’s just say that Teresa was starting to see were my parents were coming from as far as not wanting me to follow in Jessie’s footsteps are concerned.”

“You are her  oldest niece Harp so I’m not surprised that she’s being a bit overprotective of you.” Josh reasoned and Harper had to admit that he had a point. “Have you spoken with LJ since Blaze of Glory?”

”I’ve been trying to arrange a time like this where we could hang out and get to know each other more since we arrived in Hastings last week but we could never fit it around our plans.” Harper responded with a shrug and Josh nodded. ”Family drama aside? I still think LJ’s an overall decent guy, I’m still curious to see how he does in the ring considering this will be LJ’s first match and my first tag team match in SCW, and hey, if the tournament doesn’t work out and LJ sticks around maybe we can go after the Mixed Tag Titles?”

“That’s also a possibility but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, you don’t even know if the bosses have a backup plan for you if you don’t reach the finals.” Josh points out that fact and Harper nodded in agreement. “Just food for thought.”

”You saying that because it’s an old phrase or because you’re getting hungry?” Harper asked with a grin before the waiter brought over their main course almost on cue.

As Harper starts her last vlog for the match her mind seems at ease.

”I knew I was going to be up against it when I decided to take part in this year’s Blast From the Past Tournament, I’m not even twenty yet, my first match was just over a year ago, I was sure that there were wrestlers in the tournament who had taken dumps longer than my wrestling career!” Harper immediately face-palms upon finishing her sentence and sighs. ”Sorry but I legit couldn’t think of a better analogy! Point is, I didn’t think I was going to get another rookie as my partner, never mind a guy who’s wrestling his first match!

Throw in the fact that this is Jayden is in the same boat as LJ and the most experienced wrestler in this match is also one of the most controversial Bombshells ever and yeah, this is definitely an interesting match, isn’t Diamond?”

Harper asked as she leaned back in her chair.

”It’s only right that I start with the wrestler that I’m going to be wrestling, right? Diamond has been around in SCW for ages and controversy never seems to be that far behind her, will the same be true for this tournament?” Harper asked before shaking her head. ”That would require her to get past me! I know she has history with Jessie but I said it once and I’ll say it again, I’m not Jessie and I ain’t putting up with her crap in this match, I will put Diamond down for the count and the team of me and LJ will be seen as the diamonds in the rough of this tournament!

Don’t know if that team name will still but it’s fitting considering who I’ll be wrestling in this match, isn’t it?”

As for Jayden.

”And speaking of controversial, the brat prince has arrived! Wasn’t that J2H’s nickname way back in the day? I mean, I was seven when SCW was in its infancy and I just made the bosses feel old didn’t I?” Harper groans as she shakes her head. ”Point is, Jayden was last seen trying to run over J2H in a parking lot, funnily enough, and is making his professional wrestling debut in this match as well, LJ will be dealing with the guy who many would probably call the Spawn of Satan considering his dad Michael’s reputation but if we can knock them out of the running for the tournament? I say we have enough momentum to carry us through the remaining rounds!

Let’s face it, me and LJ are the underdogs in this tournament, two rookies thrown together by chance expected to be out in the first round? Well, maybe it’s time that we defied that!”

It’s that simple.

”I know the odds are against us in the tournament but me and LJ are the plucky underdogs in this thing, and it’s not my first time being a plucky underdog in SCW! Just look at my match against Tempest!” Harper pauses and shakes her head. ”Okay, bad example considering how Tempest manhandled me in that match but I still went down swinging and that’s what matters! And if me and LJ have to go down in the first round? We will go down swinging! But we don’t plan on going down in the first round!

I may have said on Twitter that I will be happy to reach the quarter finals but over Diamond and the prodigal son? That’ll be perfect!”

And with that Harper decided to wrap things up.

”There’s no denying that me and LJ are up against it in this match but we are going to rock it against Diamond and Jayden!” Harper commented as she rested her hands against the back of her head. ”Jayden is in the same boat as LJ and Diamond is the most experienced wrester in this match, she’s also the one that I’ll be wrestling but I plan on kicking ass in this matchup because the world needs a new hero and it’s time that a new record for the youngest Blast from the Past Winner to be broken and it’ll be broken by me, the Slaytanic Avenger Harper Mason! Diamond, Jayden, me and LJ will fight you on the beaches Normandy on Sunday at “Wasn’t Built In a Day Part VI: A Real Blast From the Past!”!”

Harper turned off the webcam as the scene fades.

Harpin’ On with Harper, Backstage at Climax Control 386, Long Beach, California

We open on Harper walking down the hallways of the arena that just hosted Climax Control and she has a mildly annoyed look on her face.

”So, I’ve got a thing to address before I get into my next match, people seem to be under the impression that I’m making noise about a rematch with Bobbie because apparently no one pays that much attention to my promos or segments!

Seriously, what part of “wanting to rebuild after I lost to Bobbie” don’t people understand?! What? Is the resemblance to Jessie that strong that people just think that I’m Jessie from Orlando?! Look, I know Bella has the next shot at Bobbie, she more than earned that right in that Blood Bath Brawl Match at My Bloody Valentine, do I wish I were facing Bella instead of Bobbie? Off course, I’m sure Bea will feel the same when she wakes up from being speared through the cage! Do I want to upend the bosses’ plans for my own benefit?

No, absolutely not!”

Harper shakes her head.

”How does that saying go? Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it? I learned from Jessie’s history with title matches, I know better than to pull half of the stunts she pulled when she was wrestling and that’s not even getting into the crazier shit she pulled! #JessieDeservesBetter anyone?” Harper shakes her head before sighing. ”I’m sorry but I spent months trying to establish myself as I young Bombshell who just so happens to be related to Jessie, to have all that ignored in favour of “oh she’s making noise about a title shot” when in reality I was fantasising about how things could’ve turned out if I had beaten Bobbie in that ladder match irritates me to no end! But I do have something to be excited about because next week I’m facing someone I had wanted to face since I signed that SCW Contract.

Hey there Sam, your reputation definitely proceeds you, doesn’t it?”

Harper brushes some hair over her shoulder.

”Multiple Time Champion, Hall of Famer, not only are you almost a mirror of Jessie in some respects, you’re also one of the nicest women in wrestling in general! I mean, they don’t give out titles like “SCW’s Sweetheart” for nothing, right?” Harper sighs as she reaches the parking lot. ”You’re both the kind of opponent that I can learn a lot from but you’re also the key for me to start my rebuilding process, I can’t afford to lose this match Sam because I don’t know where that will leave me when the dust settles!

One thing’s for sure though, it’s gonna be a hell of a match!”

Harper’s hotel room, Long Beach, California
Sunday the 3rd of March 2024, 23:00pm

It’s later that night in Long Beach and Harper is laying on her bed in her hotel room, clearly with a lot on her mind.

”Seriously, do people pay attention to promos and segments in SCW?!” Harper muttered with a frustrated huff as she read the match preview for her upcoming match with Sam Marlowe but Harper’s thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door and she went to answer it. ”Bit late, isn’t it?” Harper asked Josh when she saw her manager and he shook his head.

“I’ll keep this brief because I was getting ready for bed when I saw your tweet to Bella and the separate tweet.” Josh explained and Harper nodded before she stepped out of her hotel room. “You seemed pretty angry Harper.”

”Less angry and more frustrated, and I just know that Bella’s going to ignore everything I said and just continue with the “Harper’s trying to jump the que” bullshit that SCW started with that match preview.” Harper responded with a frustrated grunt as she folded her arms. ”I mean, it’s not like I said on twitter, Climax Control and at My Bloody Valentine before the match itself that I planned to go on a rebuild spree in the event that I lost but sure, take me fantasizing about how my first title match in SCW could’ve turned out completely out of context!”

“I get why you’re frustrated but channel that towards your match with Sam.” Josh advised Harper and she folded her arms with an annoyed huff. “I know you’re excited to wrestle Sam for the first time.”

”Well, yeah, she was one of my favourite wrestlers back when I was first starting out as a wrestling fan and I think our styles will mesh well together.” Harper sighed as she brushed some hair over her shoulder. ”And like Mercedes she’s one of Jessie’s oldest rivals, unlike Mercedes Sam is a total sweetheart as opposed to a complete bitch so I doubt we’ll see a repeat of my first match with Mercedees next Sunday.”

“No doubt about that, I’ve known Sam for years, only person I’ve ever seen her mad at is Veronica Taylor and that was years ago.” Josh responded with a nod and Harper grinned in response. “At the very least we should be getting some news about Jessie’s baby soon.”

”She said that she plans to have a gender reveal party soon, Keira doesn’t think it’s a good idea but then again she thought me seeking religious guidance after my parents were murdered last year was a bad idea.” Harper responded as she shook her head. ”Anyway, Jessie said something to me last week about planning the party for next week, I take it you’ll be there?”

“Off course.” Josh responded before he let out a yawn. “Anyway, I’m off to bed, try to sleep off the anger before we fly back to Vegas tomorrow, okay Harp.”

”Sure, good night.” Harper responded before returning to her hotel room and closing the door.

Harpin’ on with Harper, Harper’s loft, Las Vegas, Nevada
Monday the 4th of March 2024, 18:00pm

We open today’s vlog on Harper looking thoughtful in her loft.

”You know it’s funny but over the past few weeks I’ve come to the realization that so far my SCW Career has been something of clip show of Jessie’s, hasn’t it?” Harper asked as she brushed some hair over her shoulder. ”I’m not counting my debut match in that because, well, Jane’s been gone from the company for months and she joined right after me, but aside from that? Think about it, or better yet, look at some of the women I’ve faced since I signed that contract last year, Mercedes Vargas, Crystal Zdunich, Bea Barnhart and now Sam Marlowe! All women I’ve seen do battle with my cousin over the years! Now, I’m still waiting for another crack at Bea because there’s no way in hell I’m letting one loss to Bea Barnhart hang over my head for the rest of my SCW Career but I’m not really sure what to make of it.

And then we get to the bullshit that SCW’s Match Preview said about me and I’m wondering one thing, does SCW Higher Ups just view me as a younger Jessie with dirty blonde hair?”

Harper shakes her head.

”Never mind the fact that I’m taller, more athletic and wrestle a completely different style to Jessie’s, the fact that I’m related to her means I’m just Jessie 2.0, am I right?!” Harper lets out a frustrated sigh. ”I’ve been telling everyone who’d listen that I’m nothing like Jessie personality wise but the moment I briefly daydream about what could’ve happened if I had won the Roulette Title four weeks ago, suddenly I’m making noise about a title shot? God, I’d hate to see the aneurisms they’d get if a wrestler mentioned a title in literally any other fucking context!

Let me spell it out for you, I have no intention of upending Bella’s upcoming title shot, she earned that by going through hell and I’m not just talking about wrestling Crystal Zdunich twice in the span of two shows! I said it before and I’ll say it again until I’m blue in the fucking face: yes I would love a return match with Bobbie, no I don’t want to take any shortcuts, I’m going to earn it the old fashioned way, much in the same way that I earned it the first time around.

Well that or I get randomly selected as Bobbie’s challenger on a random episode of Climax Control and things just progress from there but let’s be honest, that’s a very slim chance! But you know what could increase the chances of that happening?

Beating Sam Marlowe this Sunday.”

Harper lets out a deep breath.

”Let’s be real for a minute here, if I want that return match with Bobbie that the higher ups THINK I’m making noise about, I need to win matches and Sam just happens to be in my way on Subday night! Sam’s credentials as a wrestler speak for themselves off course and she’s one of the sweetest women on the roster, but with Ben pre-occupied with this whole Alexander Raven and Luna Pasilno thing what exactly is there left for Sam to do? Aside from wrestle Luna at a later date because that seems like an inevitability, doesn’t it? Maybe it’s time we faced the fact about Sam being booked against little old me.

Sam needs this win just as much as I do, think about it, this is the first time she’s wrestled a singles match all year, every other match has been a tag team match with Sam in some capacity and hell, in her last two matches she drew one match thanks to a time limit draw and lost the other due to Ravenfearence.

Me? At the moment I’ve got one win and three losses in 2024, I lost the literal first match of the year to Crystal, beat Bella, wrestled Tempest to prove a point and off course, the loss to Bobbie is my most recent match.

We both need this win Sam, and I’ve beaten women with a lot more experience than me before, you? You’ll be no different.”

Jessie’s gender reveal party, Jessie’s home, Las Vegas, Nevada

Jessie’s gender reveal party for her baby is in full swing as Harper arrives and sees Jessie, who has a very noticeable baby bump by this point, waiting for her in the kitchen.

”Bet you’d never thought you’d do something like this huh Jess?” Harper greeted her cousin as she hung up her jacket and Jessie grinned,. ”Be honest, who’s idea was it?”

”Shane just wanted an excuse to cook for a bunch of people again, it was Jake that suggested the whole Gender Reveal thing.” Jessie explained as she brushed some hair over her shoulder and Harper nodded. ”I’m going to be tweeting about it later for those who couldn’t make it, though to be fair only Carter expressed interest and last I checked he’s still dealing with his bronchitis.”

”Yeah, sucks that Carter came down with that right before the Mixed Tag Title Match, though I’m pretty sure he’d have to beat off Miles to attend this party!” Harper immediately regretted her choice of words when she saw the amusement on Jessie’s face and facepalmed with a blush. ”I really, really, really should’ve worded that a LOT better!”

”Somehow I doubt they’ll complain! Anyway, everyone else, Titan included, is in the backyard, I’ll be out there soon for the gender reveal.” Jessie informed Harper and she nodded before heading outside where tables and chairs had been set up, two things came up to greet her, one was Jessie’s rescue dog Titan who was happy to see Harper, the other was Harper’s partner in crime.

”Hey Harp! Glad you could make it.” Cassie greeted her before leading Harper to where she was sitting. ”So how long did it take you to pick an appropriate shirt?”

”You’re that worried about recreating that Raised by Owls video?” Harper teased Cassie and she shook her head. ”I don’t really have any offensive metal shirts back home, even if I did I’d think twice about wearing a Dying Fetus shirt to an event like this, or Infant Annihilator, or Butchered at Birth, or Aborted, or Decrepit Birth or I’m giving some old lady a heart attack aren’t I?”

”If you were then I would’ve cut you off by laughing my ass off, still not as funny as wearing that Cradle of Filth shirt to church though.” Cassie responded with a laugh and Harper shook her head. ”So, any speculation about Jessie’s kid?”

”Not really, I’m just here for the company.” Harper shrugged her shoulders before patting Titan on the head. ”Besides, that’s assuming her baby doesn’t turn out trans or intersex or something like that.”

”True enough, and that won’t be for a while yet anyway.” Cassie responded before Shane brought over some food for the girls. ”You excited Shane?”

“Nervous and excited, it’ll be my first kid after all.” Shane responded as he showed the girls what was on offer. ”Chicken, burger, hot dog, take your pick before Titan gets any ideas.”

”I’ll take a burger for now.” Harper decided and Shane loaded a burger onto her plate. ”What about you Cass?”

”I’ll take a burger as well.” Cassie responded and Shane gave her a burger before leaving to head back to the BBQ grill. ”Bet you’re glad to have a break from what SCW’s said about you at least.”

”Can we not talk about that? I’ve ranted enough about that crap as it is, I just want to have a good time and enjoy some good food.” Harper protested and Cassie conceded before they started enjoying their burgers which were as good as they remembered, soon afterwards Jessie stepped out for the reveal.

”Attention everyone! The time has come.” Jessie announced as Jake came out with one pink balloon and one blue balloon. ”The balloon I pop will represent what gender my child will be, assuming they don’t turn to be trans off course, are you ready?”

A drumroll rounded from Jake’s phone and everyone watched on as Jessie held the pin ready to pop either balloon, once the drum roll ended Jessie popped the pink balloon, confirming that her baby was a girl.

For her final vlog of the week Harper is looking pretty relaxed.

”I definitely have a lot on my mind this week, not least of which is the whole Roulette Title situation but well, I’ve ranted about that until the cows came home.” Harper admitted as she flipped some hair over her shoulder. ”But that’s enough about Mercedes getting her thousandth title shot in this week’s main event! Yes I know she tied the poll with Seleana but the joke was too good to pass up, let’s talk some more about Sam, shall we?”

Let’s.

”Just to recap the points I brought up on my last vlogs, you’re exactly the kind of wrestler who I can learn a lot from wrestling and we both need this win when you look at the broader picture.” Harper stated as she leaned back in her chair with her arms crossed. ”But we both know what this match will boil down too, who wants it more? The upstart rookie who just had her first taste of championship gold in SCW or the respected veteran who’s held more titles than I care to count? If you ask me and I know my opinion will be biased, it’s me!”

It's that simple.

”I have more to prove and my whole career in front of me, Sam has been wrestling since I was in my mid-teens at least and some would say that her career is winding down.” Harper stated as she leaned back further in her chair. ”I don’t want to name names but I think their initials are LP, but either way Sam? I am looking forward to this match because I know we’ll put on a banger, but more importantly? I know I can win this!”

And with that Harper decided to wrap things up.

”I know actions speak a lot louder than words in this business and I’ll let my actions in my match against you do the talking for me Sam!” Harper added as she brushed some hair over her shoulder. ”And on Sunday, those actions will lead me to my second win of the year because the world needs a new hero and her name is “The Slaytanic Avenger” Harper Mason, see you in the ring at Wasn’t Built In a Day Part I: The Rebuild Sam!”

As Harper starts recording her Vlog on her phone we can see that the teenager has a lot on her mind.

”Where do I even begin to describe the first two SCW shows of the new year? I thought things were crazy enough when I wrestled a returning SCW Hall of Famer in my first match but no if anything that was just the tip of the iceberg!” Harper states as she brushes some hair over her shoulder. ”And I end tonight be hearing rumours that I’m finally entering the Bombshell Roulette Title Scene soon, almost as soon as My Bloody Valentine, all because my record in SCW is almost spotless.

You know, if you ignore my first loss to Bea Barnhart, and two wins by disqualification, and I’m overthinking things!”

Harper shakes her head.

”And then we get too my second match of 2024 and for the first time in a while I’m facing someone who isn’t a veteran or a former World Champion, not for lack of trying to be fair, Bella’s someone I know Jessie holds in high regard, to the point that she’s disappointed that she never got to wrestle her, and now I’m facing her this time next week in Greeley, Colorado in a match that could play a part in how my Roulette Future plays out.

No pressure right? But I do have someone in my back pocket again going forward, Josh might not have as many accolades as Jessie or even Team Hero but he is a hell of a wrestler and a mentor at that, I’m lucky to have him honestly, and who knows? Maybe he’ll be my key to my future as a Bombshell Champ in SCW?

It was right in the middle of the semi-main event between Peter and Miles which Harper was watching on a monitor with Josh.

”Josh, is it bad that I’m kinda hoping Bea wins the title tonight?” Harper asked her new manager who gives her a curious look. ”Just so I can say that my first loss was too the current World Bombshell Champ?”

“Might not want Julianna to hear you say that.” Josh commented with a chuckle as he shook his head. “Besides, it’s like I said, you shouldn’t focus so much on the past, your still early in your SCW career.”

”True.” Harper responded as she folded her arms, right as Peter picked up the win Harper overheard a couple of stage hands chatting among themselves.

“Man, that Falls Count Anywhere match was a bitch to clean up after.” The taller of the two stage hands said and Harper did her best to ignore them. “I know Roulette Rules matches can get messy but come on!”

“Yeah and they’re already talking about Bobbie’s next challenger, heard a rumour that that young Bombshell might get a shot next, what was her name? Harper Mason?” Harper’s head snapped up when she heard that, to the point where she missed the ending of the match. “Apparently her almost spotless record has made the bosses sit up and take notice.”

”Sorry, I couldn’t help but overhear.” Harper apologized as she walked up to the stagehands and they turned to her. ”Where are these rumours coming from? Because this is the first I’ve heard of it.”

“”It’s mostly spreading around the off air staff like us, but it’s got some weight behind it.” The taller stage hand told Harper and she nodded in response. “And it kicked into high gear after you mentioned tonight’s Roulette Title Match.”

”Thanks, that’s all I wanted to know.” Harper nodded in response before she walked back to Josh and the stage hands walked off. ”Guess the squeaky wheel gets the grease after all.”

“Guess so, but we had better not act on it before you win your first match of the year.” Josh nodded in response as Harper brushed some hair over her shoulder. “We don’t even know if you’ll be booked next week.”

”Well, I missed this week’s show so it’s not like it’s out of the realm of possibility.” Harper responded with a nod before she got a text on her phone, it was the new card text and she grinned when she saw her match. ”And my second match of 2024 is official! I’m facing someone else who was in a big match at December 2 December, namely Bella Madison.”

“As in, Julianna’s last challenger before tonight?” Josh asked and Harper nodded in response. “She’ll be a tough opponent because she’s had a fire lit under her since she came back from maternity leave.”

”And I’ve had a fire lit under me since my first match against Mercedes.” Harper responded as she leaned against the wall. ”And they mentioned the rumours about me and the Roulette Title in the card preview, I’d say that it’s got some weight behind it.” Harper added as she grinned broadly. ”Either way this will be a great match.”

“Agreed.” Josh nodded before the Main Event started.

Several hours had passed since Harper’s night at the second Climax Control of the year and, unable to get any sleep, she decides to do another Vlog.

”If it looks like I’m trying to get some sleep, well, I am but it’s not exactly going well so I figured I’d get one last Vlog about my match against Bella in before I returned to Vegas tomorrow.” Harper lets out a small yawn. ”Maybe it’s the fact that I’m wrestling a woman closer to my age range for the first time in ages, at least that’s how it feels, or maybe it’s all these rumours surrounding me and the Bombshell Roulette Title, I’m not even two matches into 2024 yet and I’ve already got a lot on my mind! But how about we narrow things down?

How do I view Bella as a fellow competitor? And as an opponent for that matter?”

Harper leans back in her chair, deep in thought.

”I know from my days as a fan of SCW, before I knew I was related to Jessie that is, that Bella was one of those competitors who frequently found herself in a title scene, Mixed Tag, Bombshell Roulette, Internet even the World Bombshell Title once or twice but she always came up short, not for lack of effort because I know Bella’s a hell of a wrestler and has more than earned those shots but since she got back from maternity leave last year? It seemed like a fire was lit under her.

Then off course there’s the elephant in the room, the day when I faced Laura Pheonix in her retirement match at High Stakes! I’ll be honest with you Bella, I was close to quitting after that Bea Barnhart match because I couldn’t see a way for my career to get out of that rut, then I got picked by Laura as her final opponent and suddenly I found myself on a winning streak that was ended just two weeks ago.”

Harper sighs.

”I’d be lying if that winning streak was all sunshine and rainbows off course, we can thank Mercedes Vargas for that, but it reinvigorated my belief that I could be someone in the SCW Bombshell Division and my match with Mercedes at December 2 Dismember definitely turned a few heads just for how far I was willing to win a match in a No DQ environment, tell you the truth I’m terrified whenever I go for the Fragile Wings in a match because I always think that something’s gonna go horribly wrong and my wrestling career at least is going to end but it got the job done.

All that was made possible when I faced your mom Bella, and here I am, four months later, facing you, a woman with the same desire to prove herself as me who happens to be Laura’s daughter.

It was the day after Climax Control and Harper was training for her match against Bella with her two favourite sparring partners, Hayley from the Go Gym, and Zara from Hero Academy.

“Okay girls, we can’t really replicate the conditions in a Roulette Rules match so just treat this like a regular match.” Josh instructed the three women as they got warmed up. “Zara, you’re the closest to Bobbie’s height and Hayler’s closer to Bella’s height and general size so this should help Harper prepare for her match against Bella and potential match against Bobbie.”

”Well, as much as we can since Zara doesn’t have Bobbie’s strength.” Harper responded as she glanced over at Josh. ”Or weight but I’m pretty sure Team Hero would have something to say about Zara deliberately putting on that much weight just for a sparring match or two.”

“That and I had an eating disorder when I was younger that Team Hero know about.” Zara chimed in and the others gave her a surprised look. “It wasn’t anorexia, think the other direction.”

”Ahh, you kept putting on weight?” Harper surmised and Zara nodded in confirm it. ”Well you look great for what it’s worth so let’s forget about that idea.”

“What idea?” Hayley responded with a knowing grin before she exchanged a fist bump with Zara. “Anyway, since your match with Bella is a lot closer, how about you start with me Harper?”

”Sounds like a plan to me.” Harper responded before Zara left the ring to let them go at it, obviously Harper was further along in my training than Hayley but she had little problem keeping up with Harp, something that was a good testament to how well the trainers at the Go Gym trained their students. ”I just thought of something, Georgie could potentially use her briefcase of my potential match with Bobbie, couldn’t she?”

“I mean, I was expecting her to try it with that Triple Threat Match in the backstage area last night but yeah.” Zara responded with a shrug as she leaned on the apron. “If you think you should bring in someone to fill Georgie’s role than I can think of a few from Hero Academy, none of them are from London though.”

“Yeah, and the closest the Go Gym has is Kelly who’s from Ireland.” Hayley nodded in agreement as I leaned against the wall. I had sparred with Kelly a couple of times she had attitude problems but was a good student and willing to try anything at least once from what I remembered. “Even that’s a distant possibility but worth a shot I think.”

”Might not even need it, I mean, My Bloody Valentine V is a few weeks away and who knows what’ll happen between then and now.” Harper responded with a nod before glancing over at Zara. ”Z? Are you up for a round?”

“Thought you’d never ask.” Zara responded with a grin before she entered the ring and Hayley swapped places with her, the rest of the day went on like this with the three girls sparring in the ring until it was time to go home.

Harper turned on her webcam she let out a deep breath.

”Here we go, final vlog about my match against Bella.” Harper muttered to herself as she readied herself. ”We have a few things in common Bella, we’re both related to legendary female wrestlers and we are both hungry for singles gold, then again who isn’t in this company? Main difference is that you’ve been around for a few years now and I literally just signed with SCW last year and arguably I have more to prove than you in a potential title match because if the rumours are true than my first title match in SCW is coming up soon.”

How soon?

”The rumours say that my title match may be at the upcoming My Bloody Valentine V show and given how long you’ve been around for now Bella, I bet you understand how important momentum is for a match like that.” Harper added as she leaned forward. ”Because let’s face it, after that false start against Crystal three weeks ago? I need to build up momentum and fast if I want to win my first title in SCW and as much as I respect you Bella? I can’t let you get in my way.”

It's that simple.

”I know we’ll have a great match Bella, that goes without saying, considering I’ve managed to have bangers against most of my opponents since I signed with SCW but remember that asterisk right next to my wrestling record they mentioned in the preview? Almost perfect?” Harper lets out a deep breath. ”To my knowledge there’s only one undefeated Bombshell in SCW and she’s the current world champ! But you know all about that because you were her last challenger Bella and I know that you want to use our match to get back in the driver’s seat, why? Because outside of SCW? I’ve been there myself!”

And with that Harper decided to wrap things up.

”My potential match against Bobbie might be my first title match in SCW but overall? Nah, not even close, during my rookie year alone I won three titles, ones got a permanent place on my mantlepiece because the fed closed before I could defend it, the other two make me a double champ at the age of nineteen!” Harper added as she rested her hands behind her head. ”Not bad huh? I’ll be turning twenty this September and by then? I want to rack up as many reigns as I can, there’s just one problem.

I need to start winning matches first, and Bella is my next target.

Bella, there’s no denying that we’ll tear the house down on Sunday, two young hungry competitive women fighting with a potential title shot down the line? Who can blame us?” Harper asked rhetorically as she brushed some hair over her shoulder. ”But in the end I’ll want it more at Rise of the Avenger IX: The New Generation Clash and you’ll get a taste of how hungry I am Bella! Because the world needs a new hero and her name is “The Slaytanic Avenger” Harper Mason! See you in the ring Bella and good luck!”

Harper’s match against Mercedes Vargas wound up being a double edged sword for the youngster, because whilst Harper did get the win over the far more experienced Mercedes, it was only because Mercedes attacked the young Bombshell with a Singapore Cane causing Harper to win the match by disqualification! And just to make matters worse? When Jessie tried to intervene on Harper’s behalf Mercedes turned her attention towards her old rival caning her as well!

The fallout from that match would be resolved next week but before that? Harper had her fifth match to worry about and it was a big one, why? Harper was taking on the recently dethroned former World Bombshell Champion Courtney Pierce in singles action! Courtney had been dealing with her own drama as of late, with her feud with the Bombshell Internet Champion Ariana Angelos reaching new heights of animosity week after week resulting in Courtney trying to break Ariana’s hand at the end of the last Climax Control episode. Can Harper score a huge win?

Sunday the 12th of November 2023, 21:00pm

You know? I thought I’d have a bit more time in SCW before I found my first sworn enemy.

But in reality? My match record isn’t even in the double digits yet and I’ve already got an enemy, and the worse part is? I get the feeling that it was less about me and more about Mercedes sending a message to Jessie when she got herself disqualified by using a Singapore Cane on me during our match tonight! Since that match I’ve been spending most of the evening in the medic’s room at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nevada being checked out by the medic alongside Jessie.

Oh yeah, Mercedes attacked Jessie when she tried to save the day, is it any wonder why I’m thinking that Mercedes’s attack on me was a way to get to Jessie?

“Okay Harper, good news is your free to go.” The medic informed me and I glanced up from my phone before grinning, Jessie had already been discharged but she was just waiting for me to be discharged as well. “You ladies take it easy over the next week, okay?”

”I’ll try but I can’t make any promises.” I grunted in response before I swung my legs over and hopped out of the hospital bed, I glanced over at Jessie who was clearly fuming. ”Do I even need to ask what’s got you so worked up?”

”Let’s see, Neon Knights is doing fantastic business, you’ve been kicking ass since I convinced you to sign that SCW Contract right after I lost the Bombshell Roulette Title to Alexandra, I couldn’t possibly imagine why I’m absolutely furious!” Jessie responded as her voice just dripped with sarcasm and I folded my arms before tilting my head to the side to show her that I had caught on already. ”If you’re wondering why the hell Mercedes attacked you with that cane? So am I, it’s no secret that we’ve been enemies for as long as we’ve been in SCW but I thought that was in the past.”

”But that’s between you and her though, you’d think people would’ve caught on by now that the only thing we have in common is that we are metal chicks who happen to be wrestlers and related by blood!” I responded with a frustrated sigh and Jessie just shook her head with a frown on her face. ”If nothing else this has all but confirmed that Mercedes will be my opponent at December 2 Dismember IV.”

”It definitely seems to be leaning in that direction, doesn’t it?” Jessie responded before shaking her head. ”But we can’t risk Mercedes pulling the same stunt, this rematch will have to be a No Disqualification match, I can see no other way for this issue to be resolved, I know you won your first title in a Tables Match so it’s not like this will be unfamiliar territory for you.”

”Yeah, not to mention all the other hardcore matches I’ve been in, ladder matches, tables matches, even that Cabin in the Woods Match I did with Cassie in EWC.” I responded with a nod as a grin crept onto my face. ”I mean, on the service I’m not exactly the kind of wrestler who would do well in that environment, my background is in High School Wrestling and Marial Arts, my dad was a military veteran for god’s sake! Yet it’s been Hardcore Wrestling that’s brought out the best in me.”

”Funny how things work out, isn’t it?” Jessie asked with a dry chuckle before I heard a text message notification on my phone and went to check it, I was expecting it to be from Cass because she had promised to tune in for my match against Mercedes, it wasn’t, it was SCW releasing the card for next week’s show in Flagstaff, Arizona. ”The bosses put out next week’s card?”

”Yeah, I’m just looking at it now.” I responded with a nod before I read through the card, I didn’t have to look far to find my fifth match in SCW, but my opponent caught me off guard. ”I’m wrestling Courtney?!”

”Wait, what?!” Jessie demanded before motioning for me to hand my phone over to her and I did so, right there, the third match down, was my match against someone who was the World Bombshell Champion when I signed up with the company. ”And here I thought they were content with booking you against veterans like Laura and Mercedes, Courtney hasn’t been wrestling for that long but she is a former World Bombshell Champion for a reason.”

”Not to mention the fact that my match against her is the first Bombshell Match of the show, and everything that happened between her and Ariana tonight for that matter.”  I responded with a frown and Jessie nodded in agreement. ”Didn’t you wrestle Courtney at one point?”

”Ages ago, back when Courtney was still regaining her confidence after her injury forced her to forfeit the World Bombshell Title Match she earned through winning the Blast from the Past Tournament.”  Jessie responded as she shook her head and I nodded as I got the idea. ”I don’t think I need to say that Courtney wasn’t the same wrestler she is today when I wrestled her, I don’t really have any advice I can give you that would be useful against her today.”

”No, but I think we know someone who does.” I responded as the gears started turning in my head. ”Keira, she was one of Courtney’s challengers during the Violent Conduct cycle, hell their match was nominated for Match of the Year.”

”Either her or Roxi really, don’t forget that Courtney won the title from Roxi to begin with.” Jessie reminded me and I nodded in agreement, wasn’t like they were hard to find anyway, Team Hero had trained me at Hero Academy after all. ”Worry about contacting them in the morning, I think we’ve both had enough of this medical room for one night.”

”Agreed,, let’s go.” I nodded in response before me and Jessie grabbed our things and left, I definitely had a lot on my mind heading into next week.

A burgeoning feud with a Hall of Famer? A match against someone who just lost the World Bombshell Championship? Things were definitely escalating quickly for me.

You know what sucks more than getting your first disqualification win in your wrestling career? When others are babying you because your opponent was disqualified for attacking you with a weapon!

And that has been the story of my life since I arrived at Hero Academy earlier, Primm isn’t really that far from Las Vegas, it’s a drive of just under forty minutes really, but those forty minutes (give or take) went by like clockwork because I had been thinking about my SCW Career on the way back, warts and all.

I can definitely say that the loss to Bea Barnhart and the disqualification win over Mercedes Vargas were the two lowest points of my career up to this point.

But yeah, when we arrived in Las Vegas I pretty much told Jessie to drop me off at Hero Academy and that I’d make my own way back to the loft whether it was by Uber, someone giving me a lift or me just deciding “fuck it, I’m walking home”, normally I’d use my own car but that’s back at the loft and besides, I still had my wrestling gear with me when I returned to Vegas, I was already all set, but like I said, the problem is with potential sparring partners babying me.

Which is especially frustrating when some of these girls literally started at Hero Academy last week!

”Seriously Zara, I don’t need to be babied.” I complained to the taller woman as we finished sparring, I literally took Zara as my opponent because she was the only one not doing anything at that point, everyone else was either sparring or working out and besides, she was a fellow Tae-Kwond-Do practitioner with a Black Belt so in theory we should be a good match, in practice though? ”I’m not a newcomer to the sport, I’ve been in rough matches before.”

“And how many times did you get attacked by a cane in a regular match?” Zara asked and I didn’t answer, there was only one answer and that was during last night’s match with Mercedes. “Besides, I don’t really have a choice, Keira and Roxi told us to take it easy on you because of that Mercedes match, something about them not wanting a repeat of what happened with Melissa this time last year.”

Off course, it was around this time last year that I was attacked by Melissa as a message to Mercedes ahead of their rubber match at Inception IV, which was also the moment where I was literally marched out of Hero Academy for trying to train without being medically cleared, yeah, that wasn’t one of my best moments. ”Oh you’ve gotta be kidding me! They know I’ve got Courtney Pierce on Climax Control and Young Justice’s rubber match with Shinijoshi at the Rampage Season Finale, why are they pulling this now?!”

“Hey, don’t look at me, I’m just the messenger!” Zara defended herself as she put her hands up and I let out a deep breath. “But Team Hero have been in their office all day since we got here, if you want to get the info straight from the source? I’d start there.”

”Thanks Zara, I think I will.” I nodded in response before I left the practice ring and headed towards Team Hero’s office, I promptly knocked and after a few moments Keira opened the door.

“Oh hey Harper, didn’t realize that you had dropped in.” Keira greeted me upon seeing me and I just sighed in response. “And I’m guessing you heard about me and Roxi’s directive?”

”Yep, Zara spilled the beans when I complained about her holding back in our sparring match.” I responded as I motioned over my shoulder to Zara who was currently doing some warm-ups in the ring now that she was alone in there. ”Do you and Roxi have time to talk?”

“Always, come in.” Keira responded with a nod before she held the door open for me and I let myself in, Roxi was sitting behind her desk and had heard the brief convo between me and Keira based on the look on her face. “Harper we anticipated that you’d be frustrated by our orders to the other Hero Academy students but it was for your own good.”

”My own good?! I’ve got a woman who was the Bombshell Champion just a few weeks ago on Sunday, Young Justice’s Rubber Match with Shinijoshi is coming up and you know how vicious me and Cassie’s battles with that group have been over in EWC.” I pointed out a I sat in front of Team Hero with my arms crossed. ”How am I supposed to prepare for either of those matches when every potential sparring partner is going to treat me with baby gloves?!”

“Because that is a lot better than being put on the shelf because you trained too hard with an injury Harper, we don’t want a repeat of when Keira had to march you out of Hero Academy last December.” Roxi pointed out with a frown as I shifted my weight. “We off course know Courtney very well, she’s a hell of a talent and will be a real test for you at Climax Control, and whilst we have never encountered any members of this Shinijoshi group? We’ve watched Young Justice’s encounters with them, in tag team and singles action, we know that they are all excellent wrestlers.”

”If you know that, then why tell any potential sparring partner to go easy on me?” I asked pointedly as my frustration grew. ”Hell, I’ve got an open invite to train at the Go Gym, what’s stopping me from going over there to train?”

“Gabriel will just give the same memo to the students and graduates from that school, he’s been training wrestlers longer than we have, he’s not stupid.” Keira pointed out that fact and I quickly realized that she had a point. “Besides, if this really about training or are you just looking for an outlet for your frustrations? We saw your conversation with Jessie at Climax Control, between the title match at Empire Pro’s event and how the Mercedes match ended? We can tell that you’ve got a lot of anger building up inside you Harper.”

”Mercedes literally had no reason to go to town on me with that Singapore Cane, she had me dead to rights after that kick.” I grunted in response as I blew a stray strand of hair away from my eyes. ”And that title match? When was it decided that champions could retain via count out or disqualification? That rule makes no fucking sense!”

“Those rules were written long before me or Keira were born, much less you and Cassie, trust me, you’re not the first one to voice frustration with the Champion’s Advantage rule and you likely won’t be the last.” Roxi responded as she shook her head and I nodded as I got the idea. “As for Mercedes? I don’t know what to make of her actions at Climax Control, I’ve faced her more times than I care to count, and we both know that your itching for a rematch with her at December 2 Dismember IV.”

”Is it really that obvious? Don’t answer that.” I responded as I shook my head and Team Hero shared a look. ”More importantly, why even bring that up? I came in here because you told the other students to go easy on me in spite of my upcoming big matches, not how angry I am over my recent matches!”

“Because it’s connected, you did well against Mercedes before she snapped but because of that and the match against Melody your dealing with even more anger than you were heading into the Mercedes match, and now you’re injured on top of that!” Keira pointed out and I started leaning back on my chair as I listened to my trainers talk to me. “Your dedicated, we get that, but if your not careful that same dedication could see you end up like Stacy Jones almost was last year.”

”I know the story Jessie told me shortly after you walked me out of Hero Academy.” I responded with a frown as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”But I can’t prepare for matches like the one against Courtney or my potential rematch with Mercedes when you keep telling the other students like Zara to go easy on me.”

“Trust me Harp, it’s better than having to miss action because you got injured whilst training, or do I need to remind you of the events that surrounded Ari becoming the new Bombshell Internet Champion?” Roxi responded and I let out a deep breath knowing that it was a lost battle. “And on that note, it does go without saying that Ariana will be watching your match against Courtney on Sunday because of everything that happened between them last night.”

”Don’t you think I know that? I had woken up from Mercedes’s attack long before Courtney’s first attack on Ariana, Jessie ended up having to update me on everything going on between Ariana and Courtney because I wasn’t discharged until after Courtney’s final attack on Ariana.” I responded with an annoyed grunt as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”If you think I’m angry at Mercedes? Courtney’s going to be even angrier at Ariana and she’ll be out to take her anger out on me! I’m not in a hurry to win two matches in a row by Disqualification!”

“Use that anger against her, it might just result in the biggest upset in SCW since Georgie Robertson pinned Roxi.” Keira responded and I nodded in agreement.. “And remember what we said about the other students, we’re not doing this because we don’t want you to succeed Harper, we’re doing this because we don’t want you to have your career cut short because of injury.”

”Right, got.” I nodded in response before I left their office without another word, I really had nothing else to do at that point, just light exercise and watching the other guys and girls train in the hopes of following in my footsteps, but in the end, I had two goals in mind for Climax Control.

”I have a genuine question for those who have been in SCW since the beginning, and before anyone asks I Jessie doesn’t have a clue, is there a record for fastest time a newcomer found his/her first rival? I’m not sure if The Troll counts because he’s hated by everyone! My point is, I’m not even ten matches into my SCW Career and I’ve apparently angered a woman who’s been around longer than my parents were adults!” I asked with a frown as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”Trust me Mercedes, I don’t care who that was aimed at, if it was aimed at mem Jessie, my Team Hero AKA my trainers, I don’t give a fuck, I will have payback at Climax Control! But first? I have a match that proves that I must be doing something right in my short time in SCW, why? Because my next match is against someone who was a World Bombshell Champion just a few weeks ago! Hello Courtney, didn’t take long for Jet City to face off with Hero Academy did it?”

Not at all.

”I’ve only been an SCW Bombshell for two months now but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t paying attention to the action on screen, more specifically the matches you had as champion, on one hand Courtney you had some genuine bangers with both of my trainers, hell your match against Keira was nominated for Match of the Year, on the other hand?” I asked as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”You only beat Ariana by cheating yet you acted shocked when she decided to deal out a bit of payback, and yes, I’m siding with Ari on this, your reign lasted as long as it did because Ruby tried to hide behind her broken arm to hide the fact that you were starting to slip as champion!”

Yeah, I said it.

”But what does that have to do with me? I haven’t even had a title match in SCW yet, never mind a World Bombshell Title Shot!” I asked as I folded my arms before smirking. ”It has everything to do with our match Courtney, because I think you are going to be too angry at Ariana for costing you everything in the first Main Event of the Cycle to even think about me and that’s going to cost you!” I added before folding my arms. ”But here’s the real question Courtney, how will the end of the match come about? Will you rely on your wife who is somehow more useless with two working arms and it backfires spectacularly? Will Ariana cost you another match? Will Mercedes try to cost me the match and fail miserably? Or will I pin you fail and square?”

Good questions.

”Personally? I’ve always felt that a win gained by cheating isn’t really winning, something you know all too well about, so I’m going to aim for the latter option, but then again? It takes two to tango in this sport and nothing’s guaranteed.” I added as I folded my arms with a smirk. ”After all Courtney, if you were guaranteed to be the World Bombshell Champion by now, would this match even be happening? The bosses have made some baffling decisions as far as the title scenes go, looking at you Bea Barnhart, but putting a nineteen year old rookie in a World Bombshell Title Match against someone like you Courtney? I think that’s too far even for them, my point is Courtney that if you think this match is going to be a walk in the park for you? Look behind me.” I motioned with my head to the Hero Academy logo on the building and the camera panned over to it. ”I was trained by Team Hero bitch! The woman you beat for that title in the first place and the one who you put on a Match of the Year Candidate with during the Violent Conduct Cycle? Yeah, I have their ear for the whole week and they are advising me on all your weaknesses as a performer!”

Bad news for you!

”But to be honest? I don’t think I’ll have a chance to use their advice, because you won’t be wrestling as yourself Courtney, you’ll be wrestling angry.” I added as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”Now granted, the same goes for me, being attacked by an old dinosaur wielding a Singapore Cane because she couldn’t beat a girl young enough to be her granddaughter tends to do that to someone like me! But who’s angrier? The girl who just suffered her first disqualification win in her wrestling career? Or the former champion who got justice served to her on a silver platter? Oh I’m sorry, I meant to say screwed, my bad! Oh wait, I was right the first time, my bad! But where is this anger really coming from Courtney? Is Ruby not screwing you enough so you have to take out your sexual frustrations on unsuspecting Bombshells?”

Yeah, I went there.

”I mean, being mad that you lost a title match is one thing, but trying to break someone’s hand because they cost you the match? Oh and by the way? Whilst I don’t condone Krystal breaking Ruby’s arm for obvious reasons, she did do the whole Bombshell Roster a favour by saving us the trouble of having to wrestle someone as useless as her.” I added before I shook my head. ”If it feels like I’m deliberately trying to push your buttons Courtney, guess what? I am because I want you angry heading into the match, why? Because I know that trying to wrestle whilst angry is a bad idea! The angrier you are Courtney? The better it is for me because that just means that you’ll make more mistakes in that ring.”

How many?

”I’d say enough mistakes to make Kris Ryans question why he ever allowed you to graduate from Jet City in the first place ought to do the trick!” I added with a grin on my face as I flipped some hair over my shoulder. ”The point of this exercise is to show the Bombshell Roster that you’re not the perfect Jet City princess that you perpetuate yourself to be! And what better way to show that than to have a former World Bombshell Champion and Blast from the Past Winner lose to a girl who was thirteen when you won Blast from the Past, eighteen when she finally won the damn title after cashing in your title opportunity earlier this year and nineteen when she delivered you your ass on a silver platter?”

Sad.

”To think, I once respected you for being the Bombshell who ended the last reign of one of my mentors, trust me, I know firsthand how tough Roxi is!” I added as I pointed to Hero Academy. ”But you don’t know how tough I am because we’ve never wrested before Courtney, combine that with your anger and this doesn’t bode well for you, does it?”

How the mighty have fallen.

”I’m sure that sentence about my age has just made some of the older wrestlers go to their bathroom mirrors to check for grey hairs, but guess what? I don’t care, the only thing I care about heading into this match is pinning a former World Bombshell Champion in her first non-title match since losing the title.” I added with a cocky smirk as I stared into the camera. ”See, I thought getting the win over Mercedes last night was going to send my stock in the Bombshell Roster soaring, but then we have a match like this, what will my stock look like when all is said and done?”

It's that simple.

”I know I’m the underdog in this match, that goes without saying, a young rookie against a former World Champ? The champ has this match in the bag, right?” I asked before shaking my head. ”People thought the same about Roxi’s match against Georgie at the start of the year and look at how that turned out, Georgie got the win and so will I and unlike her? I won’t squander any opportunities that come my way after scoring such a huge win!”

And with that I decided to wrap things up.

”I mean, I’m already a two time champion elsewhere in wrestling, I know what it takes to get a win, it’s all up to me to make that happen after I beat you at Rise of the Avenger Part V: Battle Scars.” I added as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”And what will you do then Courtney? Blame Ariana? Blame Ruby? The arena lights? The ref? blame the fact that the world needs a new hero and her name is “The Slaytanic Avenger” Harper Mason? Regardless, I’ll see you in the ring!”

I got in my car and drove off as the scene fades.

Harper had done it! She had won her debut match against Jane! And in the week that followed? She would celebrate her nineteenth birthday! But now Harper was set to compete in her second match in SCW and unlike her debut, the youngster was taking on someone who had been a mainstay in SCW and was a former champion at that, her name? Bea Barnhart! Jessie had already warned Harper that she would never let her younger cousin live down a potential loss to Bea but can Harper go two for two?

Backstage at Climax Control 372, San Diego, California
Sunday the 17th of September 2023, 21:00pm

So far? I’ve got little to complain about in my SCW career.

Granted, winning my debut match against Jane helped as does the fact that I’ve only been a part of two shows since signing that contract a few weeks back but I have been enjoying my time here in Sin City Wrestling.

And now we come to tonight’s show, a show that showed me the sport’s ugly side as well.

I knew Ariana off course, she had helped out with my training occasionally, usually as a sparring partner, but her actions since Violent Conduct have shown a different side of her and after the confrontation between her and Jessie tonight? I was worried that I was going to keep playing peacekeeper between them.

And that brings us to next week’s show in Fresno, Ariana was getting her wish as she had a #1 Contenders Match against Julianna DiMaria with Courtney Pierce as the ref, yeah, I can’t help but agree with Ariana that Courtney is going to be biased but I had my own match to worry about, on one hand my opponent was someone who had been around for a few years and was a champion in her own right, on the other hand?

My opponent was Bea Barnhart, a woman who was basically considered the bottom rung of the Bombshell Division, that reign I mentioned? It was a Mixed Tag Title Reign with her husband Bill that lasted three weeks before Austin James Mercer and Tempest ended it right there and then!

I haven’t told Jessie yet, because I got the text whilst she was getting something to drink in catering.

”Well, at least I’m not waiting forever for my second SCW Match.” I muttered to myself as I looked at the second match of the card, compared to the King and Queen for a Day Episodes this week’s show was pretty low key, no titles were at stake, in fact the only champions who were in action were Michael and Calvin Harris, the former being teamed with J2H in the Main Event against The Saviours and the latter taking on Miles Kasey in the first of a Best of Three series, none of the matches had any crazy stipulations or even any Roulette Rules for that matter and the most exciting thing on paper was the lineup for this year’s High Stakes being announced! We’ll see how it plays out on the night off course. ”Wonder what Jess will say when she sees my next match?”

”If it’s that contenders match against Ariana then I’m buying Christian a beer for finally growing a sense of humour.” Jessie responded as she sat down opposite me with a tray of food in her hands and I glanced up at her before shaking my head. ”Good, I was about to say that it seems a little bit early for you to be thrown into the World Bombshell Title Scene.”

”You say that but Ariana’s opponent joined just before me and the McGullican siblings.” I responded as I showed Jessie the text and Jessie nodded as she got the idea. ”My opponent is from the perpetual title challengers club, and someone you never really got along with.”

”Kid, do you have any idea how little that narrows things down? It’s easier to list the enemies I made over the course of my career as an SCW Bombshell than it is to list the friends I’ve made!” Jessie pointed out and once I conceded that she had a point I showed her the second match on that card. ”Ahh, Bea Barnhart, well, this will be interesting.”

”Interesting?” I asked with a raised eyebrow as Jessie passed me some sweet treats, she knows I can’t resist my sweet tooth! ”That’s all you’ve gotta say about me facing a former champion in my second SCW Match?”

”A former champion who’s one reign is a footnote in the dying days of the original Mixed Tag Team Division, a former champion who has repeatedly failed to even get a whiff of another title reign since then, a former champion who lost the titles to the team that would win that year’s Tag Team of the Year Award in their first defence.” Jessie responded simply as she brushed some hair over her shoulder. ”Harp, to put it bluntly? Bea is the joke of the Bombshell Division for a god damn reason! She’s literally on the roster to serve as a body, champion hasn’t defended her title in a while and everyone else is busy? Send Bea! Need a spot filled in a multiperson clusterfuck? Send Bea! Need someone for a newcomer to really test themselves against in their second match?”

”Send Bea?” I asked and Jessie nodded in response. ”Just out of curiosity, what will happen if Bea does get the win over me next Sunday?”

”For one thing your stock in the Bombshell Division will plummet overnight! Alexandra proved that it is possible to come back from such a setback but it’d be a long road ahead.” Jessie responded simply and nodded along as I got the idea. ”And personally speaking? I would never let you live down a loss to Bea fucking Barnhart, I don’t think I need to explain why.”

”So no pressure?” I asked with a nervous grin and Jessie just shook her head in response. ”That aside, how are you feeling after that argument with Ari?”

”Still pissed off but I’ve calmed down a lot, Ari’s a girl with a lot of promise but she needs to overcome her mental health issues if she’s going to succeed in the Bombshell Division.” Jessie responded as she shook her head before she started eating her food. ”And whilst I’m no shrink? I think it’s safe to say that it goes a lot deeper than just frustration, you saw how she was lashing out at anyone and everyone, including her bestie.”

”That’s going to be a lot easier said than done, especially since we’re not qualified to make any diagnosis.” I responded as I shook my head. ”She mentioned that her parents are horrible people, you have any insights there?”

”I don’t know the whole story, just that they disowned her for following her wrestling dreams, but I heard that Ari didn’t even bother inviting them to her wedding, if that doesn’t say a lot about them I don’t know what does.” Jessie stated bluntly before shaking her head. ”Don’t worry about Ari for now, just focus on getting past your second match Harp.”

”No argument there.” I responded with a nod before we resumed eating our food,

Jessie’s home gym, Las Vegas, Nevada

Ever wonder where we’d be without Kayfabe Airlines? I do, mostly when I can go back and forth between California and Vegas like it’s the next town over.

But there is a reason why me and Jessie have returned to Vegas, for me it was so I could train for my match against Bea, for Jessie it was so she could make some headway towards opening up her bar and grill.

I did ask Jessie about working at the bar when I’m not wrestling, obviously in a part time capacity considering I also wrestle for Empire Pro, FCW and EWC but I figured it didn’t hurt to ask, Jessie was just busy doing research on the subject as we speak.

“Come on Harp, kick it harder!” Shane encouraged me as I used a punching bag to practice my martial arts skills, my martial art of choice (Taekwondo) was known more for kicking techniques rather than how hard I could kick a person but it still came in handy. “Imagine that punching bag is Bea Barnhart!”

”Wow Bea, you put on a lot of weight!” I joked in response getting a laugh out of Jessie’s husband as I continued to kick away. ”How have things been since Jessie put her career on the back burner? Between SCW and EWC I haven’t really had a chance to ask her.”

“Mostly quiet, well as quiet as a house owned by a married metalhead couple can be.” Shane responded with a shrug as I threw another kick at the punching bag. “Jessie has poured all her attention into getting this bar up and running when she isn’t managing you, she’s insistent that watching Bar Rescue is a good way to learn what not to do when running a bar.”

”Especially a bar and grill.” Jessie’s voice rang out as she made her way down the basement stairs and we looked up to see her with one hand on the railing and the other on her phone. ”Seriously, the kitchens on Bar Rescue would make half the shit on Kitchin Nightmares puke!”

”I’ve only ever watched Kitchin Nightmares but I’ll take your word for it.” I responded with a shrug before I turned my attention to Jessie completely. ”Speaking of bars, any luck with finding out if you can hire me?”

”Well. I’ve got good news and bad news on that front. Good news is most states have a minimum age of eighteen for bar staff that serve alcohol with three states having a minimum age of twenty one.” Jessie explained after she came down the starts and I nodded as I watched her facial expression. ”Bad news is Nevada’s one of the three states that require bar staff to be twenty one or older to work behind the bar, I’m not waiting two years to hire you Harp and I’m not opening a location in another state just so you can work there.”

”Should’ve known it was too good to be true.” I sighed as I shook my head, I knew working in the kitchen would get around that but I was still learning how to cook and Jessie said that on the job training in a business like hospitality was a mixed bag at best. ”What were the other states?”

”Alaska and Utah, I only know one person from Alaska and that’s Amy Santino, otherwise? We don’t have much luck in that department.” Jessie responded as she shook her head and I nodded as I got the idea. ”Would’ve come down to tell you the bad news earlier but I was busy reading Ariana’s latest meltdown on Twitter.”

”And I’m glad that I leave my phone off when I’m training.” I responded as I shook my head though given what I read about Ariana’s meltdown last week this was likely to be more of the same. ”Has Bea commented on the match yet?”

”Not that I saw but she’s probably saving her more idiotic bullshit for her promo against you.” Jessie responded as she shook her head and I nodded in agreement. ”If I were you Harp? I’d focus on the match against Bea and try to ignore Ariana’s meltdown, last thing we want is your mind being distracted heading into your second SCW Match.”

”Or any upcoming match of mine for that matter, especially if it leads to my first loss in SCW being to Bea Barnhart.” I nodded in agreement before I sat down on a weight lifting bench and Jessie walked up to me. ”Then again Alexandra lost to Bea in her first official match and she’s now the Roulette Champ.”

”Thanks for reminding me who ended my last reign a few weeks ago Harp.” Jessie deadpanned and I winced in response to the look on her face. ”Though frankly I’m just glad Alexandra’s reign didn’t stop at Seleana I would’ve had words if the woman who ended an eleven year run failed at the first hurdle!” Jessie added and I quickly thought of something.

”Like you did back in 2013?” I asked and quickly regretted bringing that up, all thanks to the look on Jessie’s face. ”Shutting up now.”

”Good idea.” Jessie responded as she shook her head and I said nothing, instead just resuming my workout.

Harper’s loft, Las Vegas, Nevada
Monday the 18th of September 2023, 18:00pm

My training session at Jessie’s gym was good but at the end of the day it felt even better to be back at the loft with my dogs, especially since I was getting a visit from my Young Justice partner in crime today.

”Hey puppies!” Cassie greeted Logan and Xavier after I opened the door to let her in, Cass had been training over at Hero Academy today hence why she was able to pop over even though she lied in Reno with her girlfriends these days. ”So Harp, SCW treating you well so far?”

”About as well as it can, considering my second match for the promotion is on Sunday.” I responded with a nod as I led Cass into the loft, I was trying not to dwell on the history Cass had with this loft, this time last year Carter lived here with his boyfriend and, well, the story behind that relationship was ugly to say the least. ”Bea Barnhart’s my next opponent, a step up from Jane but that’s not saying much really.”

”Yeah well, Bea can be tricky but there’s no way you’ll lose to her.” Cass responded with a shrug before she sat down opposite me and the two dogs made themselves comfortable. ”I’m mostly focussing on Rampage and the other SCW right now, surprised you’re not more pumped for the Rumble though.”

”I’m a raw rookie entering a match with multiple champions, established stars and a big prize at stake, I feel like I’m being thrown to the wolves in that match.” I responded with a sigh and Cassie nodded sympathetically. ”At least I have a far higher chance of beating Bea on Sunday.”

”I know Jessie said that she’ll never let you live down losing to Bea but I’ll do the same.” Cass responded and I frowned as I flipped some hair over my shoulder. ”Because what kind of partner in crime would I be if I didn’t bust your balls every now and again.”

”Just don’t get on my case when it’s my turn to bust your balls and we’ll call it even.” I requested and Cassie quickly conceded my point before we shifted the topic elsewhere and after half an hour we ordered pizza for dinner.

”I’ve got past the first hurdle, namely my SCW Debut but this week? It’s time for round two.” I stated as I blushed some hair over my shoulder. ”And this time I’m going from a fellow newcomer to someone who’s been in SCW for a few years now and her reputation among the Bombshells isn’t good, I should know, I’m related to one of Bea Barnhart’s harshest critics.” I added as leaned against Cassie’s car (she was sitting in the car waiting for me to finish). ”Me? I’m divided on her.”

I’m being honest.

”Bea, on paper you’ll be a good test for me, you are a former champion and a veteran, in practice? There’s no getting around the fact that The Barnharts’ Mixed Tag Team Title Reign is a footnote in that division’s history, and the fact that your considered the bottom rung of the Bombshell Division.” I stated as I folded my arms. ”Why am I divided on you? I’m not sure to be honest, maybe it’s because I’ve only been in SCW for a couple of weeks and when I signed that contract with them I tried to approach each opponent equally, you included!”

That said?

”But if I lose this match then Jessie and my Young Justice partner in crime Cassie will never let me hear the end of it, in other words? I can’t afford to lose this match for my sanity’s sake.” I said before sitting on the car bonnet. ”If nothing else Bea? We’re a good match on the technical side of things because we’re both quick technical wrestlers, my skills come from my background in High School Wrestling but as I demonstrated against Jane, I can throw taekwondo kicks like nobody’s business and I’m not afraid to take to the skies either! Can you keep up with my Bea?”

My birthday present.

”Throw in the fact that this match is happening a week and a day removed from my nineteenth birthday and I think that getting my second win in SCW would be a pretty sweet birthday gift to myself, don’t you? And yes, that does mean that I was eight years old when SCW opened!” I facepalmed before running a hand down my face. ”Wonder how many roster members I just made feel old? Hell, that sentence alone probably made the bosses grow grey hairs, you know what? Let’s just head into the wrap up!”

It's that simple.

”Bra? My goals heading into this match couldn’t be simpler, I want to go two for two in SCW and show the rest of the Bombshell Roster that the first win wasn’t a fluke.” I stated with a confident grin on my face. ”Everything beyond “The Rise of the Avenger Part II: Beginner’s Luck?”? Haven’t thought that far ahead yet especially with this year’s High Stakes right around the corner! In fact, here’s a fun fact for you, it was the week before last year’s High Stakes that I first met Jessie so in a way? This has come full circle.”

And with that I decided to wrap things up.

”But if I want to get on that card? I need to keep winning matches and Bea? Your just the latest person they’ve put in my path.” I added before I hopped off the car’s bonnet and walked over to the passenger side door. ”I’ve already stated why I can’t afford to lose this match, but I gotta admit, even though your reign with Bill was a footnote in SCW’s history Bea? Getting a win over a former SCW Champion would still be a big confidence boost for me, and I will do whatever it takes to get that win! Because the world needs a new hero, and her name is “The Slaytanic Avenger” Harper Mason, see you on Sunday Bea! Please let me pet your dog after the match, I love doggos!”

Harper wasn’t expecting much when she tuned in to Violent Conduct IX two weeks ago, she knew her older cousin Jessie was set to defend the Bombshell Roulette Championship against Alexandra Callaway and that Jessie planned to call it a career after her reign ended, she, like many others, thought Jessie would retain and head into the High Stakes cycle, instead? Alexandra dethroned Jessie and won her first title in SCW.

Following a turbulent couple of days for the eighteen year old another surprise would hit Harper, namely the fact that Jessie was taking at least a year off to let her body heal but would be sticking around SCW as a manager, namely? HER manager by the end of the day Harper was signed to an SCW Contract becoming the youngest contracted Bombshell on the roster and her debut match was kicking off the High Stakes Cycle as she took on fellow newcomer Jane McCuligan, can Harper get the win?

Where do I even start?

Since Jessie lost her title she hasn’t been in contact with me much, I at least understood when it was the immediate aftermath of the match against Alexandra because that was a brutal match and she needed medical attention.

Good to see Violent Conduct living up to its name at least.

Since then? Jess has been pretty quiet on Social Media she made a post questioning whether this was it for her career but that was it! At least until last night when she made another post that rocked my world.

She was trying to get me a job with SCW, the very company that took a small name indy wrestler from Florida and made her a household name, yeah, I had a lot on my mind right now.

”What do I do exactly?” I asked myself as I looked over the tweet, I was laying back on my sofa with one hand behind my head and the other holding my phone, the timing was kinda funny really, I met Jessie for the first time in person during the lead up to last year’s High Stakes, literally the week before her Hall of Fame Induction, and now I could potentially make my SCW debut at the start of this year’s High Stakes Cycle. ”Am I really ready for this?”

My train of thought was interrupted when Logan, the youngest of my two Labrador Retrievers, barked before racing to the door where he was quickly joined by Xavier, my other dog, I sat up and pocketed my phone before heading over to the door and answering. ”Sorry I had to break the news to you like that Harp.” Jessie greeted me before she was greeted by the two dogs and she bent over to stroke them. ”But the bosses wanted to meet with me immediately after Violent Conduct, if you think Amy was against the idea of me calling it quits? You should’ve seen them!”

I stepped aside to let Jessie and the two dogs in and once they were in my loft I sighed. ”It’s not just that, it’s how sudden this whole thing feels.” I admitted before sitting down on the couch and Jessie sat opposite me whilst the two dogs, well, acted like excited Labradors, full of happy, boisterous energy. ”If I sign that contract I’ll be the youngest Bombshell on the active roster, I don’t know if the same applied to you when you joined but you had to be one of the youngest right?”

”One of them yeah, none of the Bombshells made their ages public knowledge back then but I’m pretty sure I was one of the few that was still in her early twenties, as for teenagers? Forget it! They were still a young company back then they wouldn’t have taken a chance on someone not old enough to drink.” Jessie responded as she shook her head and I nodded as I got the idea. ”But a lot can change in a decade, and I’m not just talking about the number of Climax Control episodes or how many grey hairs Christian will have by the end of the year! I’ve left the Bombshell Division in a much better place than I found it and I want you to have the opportunities I had to fight tooth and nail for.”

”But that’s just it! You’ve had a career that many Bombshells would kill for, the only prize you never got was the World Bombshell Title and that definitely wasn’t for lack of trying!” I pointed out with a sigh as I leaned back folding my arms. ”Me? I’m known as the girl who takes a lot of selfies and gets in twitter spats with The Troll over what he thinks is Narcissism! I’m not even sure if my title will ever be defended because KCW has gone silent on me and oh yeah, I’m not even nineteen yet!”

”You’re also a student of Team Hero, the third graduate from Hero Academy at that! You’ve already signed with a major company in EWC with upcoming shows in Chicago and Monterrey, Mexico, do you think you’d get those opportunities if people didn’t recognize your talent?” Jessie asked me as the two dogs finally calmed down, Logan lying down at my feet and Xavier lying down at hers. ”I’m a nobody to the folks at EWC, they don’t pay attention to other feds, they just know that you and Cass come from wrestling families, but what they do recognize is your talent and the same goes for SCW, the bosses sent me here to pick you up so we can make this contract signing official, I’ve already gone over it and everything’s in order.”

I hesitated as I considered Jessie’s words, she was blunt as always, you’d expect nothing less from her at this point, but she was right, and I had to take the opportunity that was in front of me. ”You’re right, I can’t pass this up, and I’ll have you to guide me if that tweet was any indication.” I responded with a nod before we both stood up. ”So, we’re heading straight to SCW HQ, right?”

”Last I checked? They don’t sign new talent whilst eating lunch at the Dairy Queen! Come on, let’s go.” Jessie responded with a chuckle as she shook her head before we left the loft leaving the dogs behind.

The next forty or so minutes would be one of the most important in my life, but by the end of it? It was official.

I was not only an SCW Bombshell but the youngest active roster member and the first Hero Academy graduate to sign with the company.

I’ve been officially signed to SCW for just under a week now and it still feels surreal, that said? SCW’s announcing the first card of the High Stakes cycle tonight and it’s going to be an exciting night for sure.

For starters? It was a Queen/King for a Day Season and that meant that two SCW wrestlers (Zoey Lukas and Austin James Mercer this year) were getting their chance to book a Climax Control! Sure that usually meant said wrestler booking themselves in World Title Matches but most of the time the wrestlers were honest about their intentions.

Hell, I know Jessie was when last competed in Queen for a Day.

The main question was off course, who would be my opponent? I was aware of a brother/sister duo who had signed with the company right before me with the Bombshell being a year older than me so there was a chance that I’d be facing her, either that or they got a mutual debut Mixed Tag against the Barnharts but that, off course depended on what the bosses/the king or queen for a day had in mind for the rest of the show.

For now though? I was getting in some reps at Jessie’s home gym, so might be taking a break from wrestling but that didn’t mean that she was going to sell off all her gym equipment and wrestling ring either.

”Okay, a couple of more kicks and I’ll be good.” I muttered to myself as I continued to throw kicks at the punching bag whilst Jessie watched on, right now it was just a matter of waiting for the card to be announced but until then? I was working on my kicks. ”What do you think Jess?”

”I think those kicks might give Fenris a run for his money, then again he hasn’t been seen in SCW in months so we might not get a chance to put that theory to the test.” Jessie responded as she shook her head and I wasn’t about to answer that, after seeing his kicks in person at the Go Gym? I was thankful that SCW was one of the few feds were the men and women had their own rosters. ”Are you still nervous about trying to fill my shoes?”

”A little bit, not gonna lie.” I admitted after throwing a couple of more kicks at the punching bag and turning to Jessie. ”I’ll be okay if my debut opponent isn’t Tempest though, I’m a strong girl but she probably bench presses my weight for fun!”

”I’ve been fortunate enough to not share a ring with Tempest since she graduated from the Go Gym, but after seeing her feats on strength? I’d believe that!” Jessie responded with a chuckle as she folded her arms. ”And then we have Zoey who literally Powerbombed Tempest onto Mercedes to win the Queen for a Day match! I wouldn’t be surprised if they are still reinflating her!”

”Don’t think I didn’t see that SpongeBob meme you posted on Twitter! I was this close to billing you for a new keyboard!” I responded with a laugh before my phone, which was on the bench next time alongside the bag with my day clothes, went off and I picked it up. ”And it’s ladies first as Zoey’s episode of Queen for a Day is next week and in LA!” I commented as I read the text and Jessie nodded before checking her own phone and frowning. ”Expecting to see the same text?”

”Yep! That’s going to take some getting used to.” Jessie responded with a sigh as she leaned against a nearby piece of equipment. ”Did they book your debut match?”

”Yeah, I’ve got the opening match against Jane McCuligan, one of the other newcomers though her brother isn’t booked for this week.” I responded as I shook my head before grinning as I saw the other match. ”And I’m going to need popcorn for this match Zoey booked, The Troll vs. Braddock!”

”I’d ask who he pissed off but it’s The Troll, it’s easier to list the people that moron has pissed off than it is to list who he hasn’t.” Jessie responded with a laugh and I nodded in agreement. ”What other matches did Zoey book?”

”Goth vs. Alexander Raven, Aleesha’s first Internet Title Defence against Laura Pheonix and herself against Courtney in a World Bombshell Title Match for the Main Event.” I explained after reading through the rest of the card and Jessie just shook her head at the last one. ”Yeah, I know, try not to act shocked.”

”I said that if I ever win Queen for a Day then that would be the first match I’d book so I can’t really fault it, at the same time? I’m surprised the bosses haven’t put in some rule against that by now.” Jessie responded with a frown before sighing. ”Then again the bosses aren’t exactly known for not booking title matches like that on a random Climax Control, if anything I made their jobs a bit easier when I did those open challenges during the Wonders of the World Tour.”

”Wonder if Alexandra will do something similar.” I commented with a shrug and Jessie didn’t say anything too that, I didn’t have anything against Alex for ending Jessie’s reign but I kinda felt like an encounter between me and her down the road was inevitable, whether or not the Bombshell Roulette Title would be on the line was another matter entirely. ”So, what’s the plan for my first Climax Control appearance as a Bombshell? I know your managing me but you still have to address the end of your reign right?”

”My plan is to kill two birds with one stone, talk about the end of the reign first and then introduce you.” Jessie explained as she walked up to me and I nodded a I got the idea. ”We’ll discuss the specifics on the day of your debut but until then? You have more  training to do! You’re up against a fellow newcomer and Jane will be looking to make an impact in her debut, it’s up to you to make sure that the only impact she leaves is on the wrestling ring after you beat her.”

”Right.” I responded with a nod before I resumed my workout.

Here we go.

”If you had told me one year ago that I’d be signing with SCW within a year and make my official debut the week before my nineteenth birthday? I’d have called you crazy.” I admitted as I leaned against the ring ropes with a grin on my face. ”But low and behold? That’s the situation I’m in! hey guys, you have seen me on Climax Control before, usually with Jessie, but for those who need a refresher? My name’s Harper Mason, I’m eighteen years old and I’m making my Climax Control debut this week in LA!”

This will be good.

”But that’s not why the wrestling world is paying attention to my match, it’s the fact that I’m also the younger cousin to an SCW Hall of Famer, they want to know if Jessie Salco’s teenaged cousin can reach the same heights as Jessie, right?” I asked with a frown as I flipped some hair over my shoulder. ”Or on the flipside, if I end up flopping like Adrienne Beaufort who was the same age as me when she signed in 2021, well, with Jessie guiding my SCW Career? That shouldn’t be a problem and before I can even think about setting my sights on any of the Bombshell Division’s Titles? I’ve got to get past my first match and my first opponent, fellow debutee Jane McCuligan!”

What can I say?

”Jane? In some ways we have a bit in common, we both just signed with the company, we are both in our late teens and, obviously, we want to make a mark in our first match.” I said as I started pacing around the ring. ”But if anything? I have more pressure on my shoulders before I happen to be related to a member of the Hall of Fame and a student of Team Hero! It’s almost enough to make me wondering how long it’ll be before I get booked against either Keira or Roxi but that’s just me getting way ahead of myself! I know it’s been said that it takes pressure to make diamonds but how much pressure can they pile upon me?”

Good question.

”We’ll find that out in the coming weeks I guess but before I get that far ahead of myself? I have to beat you Jane.” I added as I leaned against a turnbuckle. ”And I don’t have any material to work off because your making your debut this week and I can’t find any evidence that you’ve wrestled elsewhere, are you literally making your debut in this match? Not just for SCW but as a wrestler in general? That’s bad news for you because I at least have four months’ worth of experience under my belt and this to show for it!” I added before I held up the KCW TV Title. ”Sure, the fed’s status is up in the air, but I can still say that I won my first title within a month of my wrestling school graduation.”

Can I measure up?

”Not something that many wrestlers can say, right? Hell, Jessie was still plying her craft when she was at my experience level.” I added before resting my title over my shoulder. ”And trust me SCW, I am willing and able to work my way up to winning my second title, Jane will just be my first obstacle on that path and she will give me a good fight in my debut, but at the end of the day? Someone will have to win their debut match and that someone will be me!”

The bitter truth

”Sorry Jane but your cockiness and arrogance won’t do you much good against me, in fact, here’s some facts that you need to know about me.” I said before stepping out to the middle of the ring and throwing some taekwondo kicks into the air making sure to not catch the cameraman with any of those kicks as well. ”I didn’t get that good at throwing kicks by sitting around and doing nothing Jane, I’m a black belt in Taekwondo and on top of that? I was a High School Wrestling standout when I was, well, in high school, you don’t get those accolades for nothing Jane, and I’m more than willing to show off my technical stills when we meet in the ring on Sunday!”

What do I bring to the table?

”Do you understand it now Jane? Why my debut got the “highly anticipated” treatment in the card preview whilst you were just listed as my opponent and a fellow newcomer?” I asked with a grin as I folded my arms. ”I’m you’re your all too eager to put that down to who my cousin is but you need to understand one thing, the only thing I have in common with Jessie when it comes to wrestling is that we share a love for heavy metal! I will employ submissions to stretch you out,, I will kick you until you scream “uncle!”, I will slam you around the ring like nobody’s business and hell, I’ll even take to the airs just like Jessie!”

It's that simple.

”In other words Jane? I’m an allrounder, I just happen to favour strikes and submissions more than any other style while also throwing in a bit of high flying for good measure!” I added as looked at my title for a few minutes. ”It was those skills that led me to my first title win just a few months ago and they will lead me to that promise land once again as I work my way through the SCW Bombshell Division’s ranks! I mean no disrespect when I say this Jane, but you will be the first steppingstone on my path through the Bombshell Division and you are about to get stepped over!”

And with that I decided to wrap things up.

”And from there? Who knows where I’ll end up but I know one thing for certain, Jessie will be at my side to make sure that I don’t repeat her mistakes! This is The Rise of the Avenger Part 1: Filling Her Shoes!” and the shoes I have to fill are Jessie's, a Hall of Famer's shoes aren't easy to fill but I'm up to the challenge which I'll demonstrate on Sunday!" I added as I brushed some hair over my shoulder. ”And the first mistake I won’t repeat will be losing my debut match! We are both in the same boat Jane, we’re the newest Bombshells on the scene and we are out to make an impact! Sadly for you, the only impact you’ll make is on the matt after I beat you because the Bombshell Division needs a new hero and her name is “The Slaytanic Avenger” Harper Mason! See you in LA!”

I resumed my workout as the scene fades.
