Out of the Lion’s Den and into the fire.

The match between Gabriel and Steve Ramone in the Lion’s Den at Chaos in Cape Town wasn’t so much a wrestling match as it was a war! The match left both men beaten and bloody but in the end Steve took the worst of it and lost the match, Steve’s troubles were far from over as he was in action on the first Climax Control of June where he would take on Casey Williams’s protégé and former Roulette Champion Andrew Garcia, both men were on the receiving end of a three count at Chaos in Cape Town and both men want a win back but can Steve win?

Dino’s Lounge, downtown Las Vegas, Nevada
June 3rd, 2014, 21:00pm

I entered the den of lions and left on a stretcher.

What else can I say about what happened at Chaos in Cape Town? I would’ve won the match for sure if I had hit that Shining Wizard but thanks to Odette’s warnings Gabriel moved out of the way and the cage took the Shining Wizard instead, needless to say it was all downhill from there.

And if you’ve been paying attention to the Twitter account that I share with Jessie then yes, I am still sore from that match!

I’m not saying that I haven’t wrestled under similar circumstances before I once wrestled a GWA match one week after taking a cinder block to my leg and guess what? I won that match! I also won the match where I took the cinder block to the leg, it was a tag team match sure but the fact still remains that I won that match, in other words I’ve been in a similar situation before.

But can an older Steve Ramone repeat what a younger Steve Ramone pulled off?

I think I can, no, I know I can pull it off!

So, what is Dino’s and why am I here? Well for starters I’m not here alone, I’m here with Jessie, Jake and Shane alongside Charlotte and Sophie as we all thought that me and Jessie that we could use a bit of downtime after that disaster of a Supercard and since I’m not exactly comfortable with leaving Charlotte and Sophie on their own just yet we’ve brought them with us, also it’s a Karaoke club with several metal songs on the playlist so yeah, we are going to be belting out some tunes!

I would like to apologize in advance to anyone who’s still traumatized from my rendition of Simple Plan’s “Untitled (How Can This Happen to Me).”

“Okay, so you’re down to sing a song, I’m down to sing a song….” I trailed off as I wrote down the info we were all currently sitting at a booth near the stage, we had already given our song cards to the DJ and it was just a matter of waiting but I decided to jot it down as a reminder. “Anyone else here want to sing?”

“I’ll sit it out, my head’s still spinning from Gabriel’s mind games.” Charlotte responded and I frowned in response. “Though coming out tonight will definitely help with that.”

“That was the idea.” Jessie chimed in with a grin as she looked over the selection, her eyes went wide with glee and she started talking with her brother and fiancé, they have something planned, I can just tell.

“Daddy, I want to sing a song!” Sophie chimed in and I grinned at her, the fact that she was back to her old self the moment she saw me leave the plane terminal at Las Vegas International was a massive relief to me but I can’t help but think that she will need some therapy sessions down the road.

“Have a look at the list then honey.” I responded before handing her the list that I was using to make my choice and she looked at it eagerly, whilst she was distracted I turned to Charlotte and whispered in her ear to make sure Sophie didn’t overhear us. “So at what point did the brainwashing start to wear off?”

“I think it was around the time when the second promo period for Chaos in Cape Town started.” Charlotte responded with a frown. “It took us about twenty minutes to regain our composure and senses but once we did we were able to make sense of the situation.”

“At least someone could.” I sighed in response as I shook my head. “So why didn’t you try to reach me?”

“Gabriel was smart enough to not leave us any phones, probably because he knew that the brainwashing wouldn’t last long once he was in Africa.” Charlotte responded as she shook her head. “There were also financial reasons, a long distance call to Africa would’ve cost us an arm and a leg and don’t even get me started on the price of plane tickets from New York to Cape Town.”

“Give us a second we’re going to make another request.” Jessie commented before the three of them stood up and walked over to the DJ booth with their card in hand, whilst that was going on the Karaoke night officially started and there were some good performances, there were some Karaoke Classics, YMCA, Angels (much to my annoyance) but there was enough metal songs sung to balance it out including Jessie’s first song namely “Redneck” by Lamb of God though Charlotte had to cover Sophie’s ears whenever there was a swear word sung, in other words every couple of minutes.

“Charlotte, if you’re going to do that for every swear word in a Lamb of God song then you may as well just cover her ears for the whole song.” I commented as the song ended and Jessie hopped off the stage after taking a bow. “I’m just saying.”

“But then Sophie would complain about not being able to hear Jessie sing.” Charlotte pointed out and I sighed in resignation.

“Daddy, I found a song!” Sophie added with an enthusiastic grin on her face, she pointed it out as she passed it back to me and I looked at it.

“Okay, let’s see here…..” I trailed off as I stared at her selection for several minutes with wide eyes, it was “Death to all but Metal” by Steel Panther and if anyone in the audience is a fan of hers then you know the problem here, for those who aren’t it’s about an inappropriate for Sophie to sing as it would be for a National Socialist Black Metal Band to cover “Deliver Us” from the Prince of Egypt soundtrack. “Err, Sophie why don’t you look for another song?” I said with a nervous grin as Charlotte saw her song choice and face-palmed. “Take it from me, that won’t end well!”

“But daddy…..” Sophie protested and Charlotte gave her the evil eye which shut her up, until she started throwing a tantrum and we shared a collective wince.

“I’ll take her outside and try to calm her down since you still have a song to sing.” Charlotte responded once she realized what I was about to say before taking her out of the club hopefully to calm down.

“Okay guys, we have three people the next song, please welcome Jake, Shane and Jessie!” The guy in charge of the Karaoke announced and the trio grinned before they hopped on stage and took a mic each.

“Look guys, if anyone knows the words to this.” Jake said into his mic as the song showed up on the screen behind them, I grinned seeing that it was Number of the Beast by Iron Maiden, but I was about to start my trash talk so I wasn’t going to sing along, it won’t stop me from air drumming though. “Feel free to sing along.” Jake added as the riff started to play and I got stated on the promo.

“To say that Chaos in Cape Town didn’t go as planned is an understatement, I had the match won but thanks to a certain bitch at ringside Gabriel moved out of the way of my Shining Wizard and you know the rest! As for whether or not I’ll be pursuing a rematch with Gabriel I’ll address that at Climax Control for my own reasons but speaking of Climax Control I’m facing Andrew Garcia!”

This will be good.

“Andrew, has Casey told you how I beat him in my SCW debut match? He threw sand in my eyes but I was still able to hit the Fearless Shot and the What Fear and score my first win in this company! There’s an old saying about how a blind man shall lead them but in this case a blinded man defeated a man nearly twice his size! Now obviously you don’t have Casey’s size or strength but your good, I’ll give you that much!”

I said as I shook my head.

“Oh and before I forget, Casey will probably try to claim that he let me win but he’s an idiot so don’t listen to him! Oh who am I kidding? If you had taken that advice in the first place you would have a better teacher! That said Andrew you may have the skills to pay the bills but I have the experience to……what the hell rhymes with experience? Ah fuck it! You get the idea!”

That went south quickly.

“What I’m saying is that I have the skills and the experience to put you down and out! Sure, I admitted when the card was released that I was still injured from the Lions’ Den match but I’ve wrestled whilst injured before and won those matches to boot! This time won’t be any different! Sure you’re not as big a joke as Jay Money was but who is?”

Who’s Jay Money? Exactly!

“I know Casey said on Twitter that you don’t want a shot at Kain and his Roulette Title but well his first defense of that title is this Sunday at Climax Control and who’s to say that he won’t lose it on his first defense? I’ve lost a title on my first defense before and both of Jessie’s title reigns where cut short but even if he does win you won’t have to worry about that because Casey will still be looking for your head in the cheap seats by the time I challenge Kain!”

Or whoever else wins the match! Speaking of Jessie I just realized that their song has finished and they are back at the booth, also Jessie’s glaring at me for bringing up her short title reigns.

“There’s one other thing I want to bring up before I wrap this promo up, I’ve noticed that you have a certain hatred for a particular Five Finger Death Punch song, what was it again? Was it Hard to See? Nope, I could see clearly and it wasn’t that song! Was it Under and Over it? No, who could possibly hate a great “fuck you” song like that?”

“Next up is Steve!” The DJ called out and I grinned knowing it was my time to take the stage and I hopped onto the stage instructing the cameraman to follow me as I did.

“Now I remember what the song was! Andrew, there was another reason why I decided to set this promo in a Karaoke Club and this is it! Folks, I’m SCW Superstar “The Fearless One” Steve Ramone and I’m dedicating this song to Andrew Garcia, my next opponent! And he will soon learn that there’s nothing to fear but fear itself and no one to fear but “The Fearless One” Steve Ramone who remembers everything!”

Yep, I’m going there! The opening chords of the song started to play just as Charlotte returned with a calmed down Sophie and her jaw dropped when she realized what I was up to.

“Oh, dear mother, I love you
I'm sorry, I wasn't good enough
Dear father, forgive me
'Cause in your eyes, I just never added up
In my heart I know I failed you, but you left me here alone

If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything.

Oh, dear brother, just don't hate me
For never standing by you or being by your side
Dear sister, please don't blame me
I only did what I thought was truly right
It's a long and lonely road, when you know you walk alone

If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything.

I feel like running away
I'm still so far from home
You say that I'll never change
But what the fuck do you know?
I'll burn it all to the ground before I let you in
Please forgive me, I can't forgive you now.
I remember everything.

If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain?
'Cause I remember everything.
If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets?
'Cause I remember everything.

It all went by so fast;
I still can't change the past
I always will remember everything
If we could start again,
Would that have changed the end?
We remember everything, everything.”

The song ended and the crowd cheered whilst my companions stared at me shocked and not because of my singing skills, what can I say? I’m called The Fearless One for a damn reason.

“Andrew, I’ll see you on Sunday!” I said into the camera as the scene fades.
