Opportunities like this didn’t come along every day. Seleana Zdunich knew it and that was why she had cleared her schedule as best she could to prepare for it. Many members of her family had agreed to help her ready herself for Kat Jones and then Bombshell Championships and therefore, now she was on her phone trying to make sure business was taken care of

Seleana Zdunich: Ja, I will be there on Monday for that as you say.

She nods to the phone.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja, make sure Razorback looks at all the pigs. Hen-Wen and Pumba especially need looking after. They came to us in very poor condition. Rosita and Bebop are generally well.  Snowball seems to still be apart. I think Gullinbursti is good though, ja?

She pauses as the voice on the other end goes over a few more things.

Seleana Zdunich: We need to be ready if the other two are sent to us next week.

Smiling, Seleana nods affirmatively again.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja, it will be good.

Nodding still, Seleana laughs to herself.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja, tack, Chevy.

The call ends and Seleana looks up just in time to see her wife, Christina Zdunich, heading for the door to the garage with their second wife, Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich right behind her.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Christina…

Seleana frowns and heads over to join them.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Christina, please…

Christina grabs the door handle but looks back, shaking her head.

Christina Zdunich: No, I need to go get better.  I’m not good enough.

Seleana can’t believe her ears.

Seleana Zdunich: ¡No es la verdad, Estrellita!

Christina nods back without missing a beat.

Christina Zdunich: Yes it is!  It’s been proven lately that I am just…

She pauses, taking a quick deep breath.

Christina Zdunich: Nothing I do is good enough, I have to get better! I WILL get better!  I have to be better for you.  For Aurora, for everyone!

Alexandra shakes her head.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: That’s nonsense, Chris! That’s…

Christina quickly moves to cut her wife off.

Christina Zdunich: No, it is. Nothing i do matters.  Nothing I do is good enough I have to!

She turns and twists the handle to open the door.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Chris!

Seleana Zdunich: No, Stjärna!

Christina hurries off to her car while her two wives stand there in the doorway watching her with pleading looks on their faces.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Chris, wait!

Seleana Zdunich: Please, Stjärna!

Acting like she didn’t hear them, she jumps into her lamborghini, fires up the engine and leaves in a hurry. Alexandra and Seleana watch in stunned disbelief.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: What the fuck was that?

Seleana Zdunich: I do not know. She has been worse lately, ja?

Alexandra nods, still thunderstruck from what they just witnessed.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Yeah, she’s been a little…

Pausing to gather her thoughts, Alexandra measures her words carefully.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: I don’t understand why she gets so down on herself. What is going on?  It’s like she didn’t hear us at all!

Seleana nods to herself.

Seleana Zdunich: That is the truth. When she is like this, she does not hear. I do not know if she is keen to hear.

Alexandra frowns in confusion.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Why not?

Seleana sighs heavily.

Seleana Zdunich: You know about Mary, ja?

Alexandra nods.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Yeah… why?

Seleana stares out into the distance.

Seleana Zdunich: She is keen to be better than where she come from. She know that she is from broken home.  Many cliches, ja?

Alexandra nods.

Seleana Zdunich: Mental illness makes her see herself like that still. She thinks she holds us back. That she ruin our lives. She will not admit it if pressed, but all the horrible things people say about her…

Seleana nods grimly.

Seleana Zdunich: She believe them herself.

Alexandra turns, looking almost through seleana.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: All… of them?

Seleana nods.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja.

Alexandra’s eyes show the shack of hearing this said out loud.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Including the Stockholm syndrome shit?

Seleana nods again.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja. All of the worst things that can be said for her, even the lies.  Especially the lies…

Shaking her head, Seleana sighs heavily.

Seleana Zdunich: She thinks of herself as a fraud and so she tries to dispel that thought.

Alexandra looks off into the same distance.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: So she plays right into it in a vicious cycle.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja…

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Shit!

Seleana nods her agreement.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja. It is… not good.

The two stand there together, staring off in the direction their wife had raced off to in her lamborghini as if she would die if she didn’t get where she was going in two seconds flat.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: So what do we need to do different?

Seleana shrugs, taking Alexandra’s hand into her own.

Seleana Zdunich: I do not know if there is. We can just love her and try to keep telling her.  And we hope she listen.  We hope she hear.

She exhales heavily.

Seleana Zdunich: Knowing that she will not.

Alexandra nods.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: I love her, Sel.  I don’t wanna see her hurting like this.

Seleana Zdunich: Ja, that is me as well.

They squeeze their hands together tightly, lovingly.

Seleana Zdunich: We just have to show her…  together.

Alexandra nods her agreement.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Together.

Seleana pulls their hands up and kisses Alex’s.

Seleana Zdunich: I love you, Alex.  I hope Christina hears.

Alexandra smiles at her wife.

Alexandra Caldwell-Zdunich: Me too.

The camera opens upon Seleana Zdunich in workout clothes, dabbing at her forehead with a towel.

Seleana Zdunich: Preparing for a championship opportunity is always a challenge…

Looking up to the camera, Seleana lowers the towel so she can make clear eye contact.

Seleana Zdunich: Especially when it is someone like Kat Jones, Ja?

Her gaze drops slightly, so that she’s looking at the floor and allows herself a slight chuckle.

Seleana Zdunich: The Bombshell Roulette Championship…

She nods to herself.

Seleana Zdunich: I have been here before.

She wipes her face and then looks back up to the camera, her eyes making clear contact again.

Seleana Zdunich: I remember the first time I heard the name Kat Jones.

A smile comes over her face.

Seleana Zdunich: I was new to this country and a friend called Stacy Jones told me a story of an April Fool’s joke perpetrated on the wrestling community where she and Kat Jones pretended to be twins separated at birth because they had identical surnames and looked very much alike as well. It brought a smile to my face then and still does now several years later.

The smile shines brighter.

Seleana Zdunich: Now I know some would say Stacy has dubious standing because is responsible for introducing me to my wife but I hold her in high regard. So I have always held Kat Jones in high regard as well. I have seen her accomplish much from afar, seen her build a name for herself that made her acquisition quite notable for SCW!

The smile fades as Seleana steels herself for a backlash she knows is coming.

Seleana Zdunich: I cannot say that I am surprised that she has achieved championship standing as quickly as she has. Kat Jones is a star and no one should be surprised that she has made her mark here in short order.

She nods pointedly.

Seleana Zdunich: So now we get Kat on Cat crime, ja?

The playful smile returns to her face.

Seleana Zdunich: I am keen for this, Kat. I am keen to test myself against you.  I am keen because you are a champion. I am keen because you are a star.  But most of all, I am keen because you are the other girl from that story from my friend from when I first arrived in the States.

She pauses and then nods in acknowledgement.

Seleana Zdunich: And ja, I am keen because it is Kat vs the Cat.

She shrugs almost apologetically.

Seleana Zdunich: I admit, the very idea amused me…

She nods, the playfulness leaving as quickly as it arrived.

Seleana Zdunich: But then I began to think of it.

She raises an index finger.

Seleana Zdunich: Kat Jones has worked many years to get where she is.  I have worked many years to get where I am.

A second finger joins its brother.

Seleana Zdunich: Kat Jones is the current Roulette Champion… I am a former Roulette Champion.

A third finger rises to meet its brethren.

Seleana Zdunich: Kat needs an opportunity to cement herself.  I need an opportunity to cement myself without my wife being involved in any way.

She nods as she turns to fully face the camera.

Seleana Zdunich: We both need this, Kat, the only question is which of us needs it more?

She nods pointedly.

Seleana Zdunich: Which of us is the most keen?

Her hands come together, a smile on her face.

Seleana Zdunich: Soon we will step into the building and spin the chambers to see which one contains the live round that will send us on our way. We will play the game…

She pantomimes spinning a casino wheel.

Seleana Zdunich: watching the marble go around and around, watching it pick up speed and then just as suddenly start to slow down, waiting for it to pick which color it will choose for us and will it be a high number or a low one?

She scans at the imaginary wheel before her and nods as if watching many options come up.

Seleana Zdunich: We will spin the wheel and whatever comes up, we will be forced to play that game no matter what rules have been selected for us.

Her hands come back together again in apparent excitement.

Seleana Zdunich: It is a feeling I am both accustomed to and exhilarated by, Kat. I love the mystery of it and the excitement and anticipation. What will be our fate?  How bad can it be?  Which of us will show our teeth first and how bad will the bloodletting be after we have clashed?

She nods grimly.

Seleana Zdunich: It is the fun and the downfall of the Roulette Championship. The world is always spinning, just waiting to try and shake us off.

Her hands separate in anticipation.

Seleana Zdunich: How fast? How slow? Does it even matter in the end?

She looks up and reaches for something above her head.

Seleana Zdunich: It is our time, Kat. They will set us loose from the bag with which they threaten to throw us into the river and we will both emerge, ready to show just what kind of wildcats we can be, ja?

Looking back into the camera, Seleana nods, her eyes steely.

Seleana Zdunich: Let us allow them into our jungle… say “welcome!” and then show them what it really means… ja?

A small smile creeps onto her face again.

Seleana Zdunich: Two cats walk into a ring… welcome to the jungle… we may never leave!
