The day after a pay-per-view was always a weird feeling in Sin City Wrestling. It signaled that you now had a slight two week break from the grind of week to week combat that very few others brought anymore. If other places that employed you neglected to book you for that particular week’s event as well, it meant you would have a considerable amount of rest and relaxation ahead of you.
For Seleana Zdunich, it meant she would have five days to get ready for a second pay-per-view in a week when she, her wife, Christina, and her sister, Zenna, defended their trios championships for WWA against Veronica Taylor, Bianca LeBlanc and Christina Fierce, the Pretty Committee.
But that’s not what she was focused on today.
Today was about one thing and it had nothing to do with wrestling. Today was about a little ten-year-old girl that wasn’t quite ready to go home to Las Vegas quite yet. Aurora Martinez, the girl in question, had heard of the Zdunich Zoological Gardens and, in particular, the relationship between Seleana and the lioness Sarabi. To that end, Seleana and Christina had called ahead to tell the young girl’s mother, Angelica, to tell her that Christina would be returning a few hours ahead of Seleana and Aurora so that Aurora could see the sights at the Gardens.
Now was the time...
Seleana Zdunich: You are ready to see Sarabi, ja?
Seleana turns around in her office chair in front of her desk to see a smiling Aurora waiting as patiently as an excited ten-year-old is able to.
Aurora Martinez: YES!!!!
She pauses and notices something on the computer screen that doesn’t go along with being at the Zoological Gardens.
Aurora Martinez: What’s that?
Seleana glances back and smiles.
Seleana Zdunich: Oh, I was just checking my coming schedule for the month.
Aurora moves in closer to see eight listings, two of which having question marks listed at the end of them.
Aurora Martinez: Why do two of them have question marks?
Seleana smiles, nodding to the screen.
Seleana Zdunich: Those are the two where I know there is a show but I do not yet know if I will be there because I was not booked on the card. It is possible I will have those two dates open unless they need me to come and do an interview in person.
Aurora nods and then starts to get excited all over again.
Aurora Martinez: Oh wow, you guys have two title defenses coming up!!!! Those girls better get ready or they won’t know what HIT them! Wildside gonna dance all over the Pretty Committee and…
Aurora pauses, looking in closely in sudden amazement at the details next to one of the listings.
Aurora Martinez: Does that say three other teams?
Seleana nods, amusement swarming her face.
Seleana Zdunich: Ja, it does.
Aurora’s eyes go wide in excitement.
Aurora Martinez: Oh wow, so you get to dominate three other teams and show the whole division how badass you can be at once?
Giggling slightly along with Aurora, Seleana shrugs.
Seleana Zdunich: I would not put it that way but, ja…
Aurora barely lets her finish the thought before jumping up and down.
Aurora Martinez: WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!! WILDSIDE!!!
Aurora pumps her fist.
Aurora Martinez: Valcumin until da jungle!
Seleana can’t help but grin at the little girl trying to say something in Swedish for the first time.
Seleana Zdunich: Välkommen till djungeln.
Aurora nods.
Aurora Martinez: Välkommen till djungeln.
Seleana nods approvingly.
Seleana Zdunich: Ja… so, are you ready to see things here?
Aurora nods.
Aurora Martinez: Do you really have tigers?
Seleana nods.
Seleana Zdunich: Shera and Rani.
Aurora’s eyes get as big as dinner plates.
Aurora Martinez: Is one of them the one you play with?
Seleana frowns slightly.
Seleana Zdunich: Play with?
Aurora nods excitedly.
Aurora Martinez: They said you have one that gets all excited and you play with her.
Seleana nods knowingly, a smile coming on her face.
Seleana Zdunich: She’s a lion and yes, we do have one that does that. Her name is Sarabi. I raised her as a cub in Christchurch so she treats me as if I am her mother.
Aurora stars jumping up and down.
Aurora Martinez: We gotta see it! We gotta see it!
Seleana nods and picks up a walkie talkie. Pressing the button, she holds it to her lips.
Seleana Zdunich: Chavy?
A second later the voice of Dr. Michelle Chavez answers back.
Dr. Michelle Chavez: Yes?
Seleana can’t help but smile at the little girl’s enthusiasm.
Seleana Zdunich: Has Sarabi been brought for her bath?
Dr. Michelle Chavez: She’s in the encounter area, ready for you when you are.
Seleana closes her eyes and nods gratefully.
Seleana Zdunich: Tack, Chavy!
She releases the buttons and sets the walkie talkie down on the desk.
Seleana Zdunich: Which would you rather see first? Rani and Shera or Sarabi?
Aurora grins.
Aurora Martinez: I wanna see you play with Sarabi!
Seleana nods.
Seleana Zdunich: Ok, let’s go see Sarabi.
The two head off through the door and out to see the animals.

Apartment of Seleana and Christina Zdunich

5:51 PM PDT
The drive to Las Vegas from Los Angeles had taken roughly five hours even in Seleana’s Maserati. It had been Aurora’s first time riding in the car and she seemingly enjoyed it immensely. As they pull in, Seleana can’t help but grin at the pink Lamborghini already parked there.
Aurora Martinez: Is that… Christina’s car?
Seleana nods.
Seleana Zdunich: Ja, her pink lambo. She really likes pink…
Aurora nods in near awe at the car sitting before her.
Aurora Martinez: Wow…
Seleana parks the black Maserati and the two go inside the apartment. Inside, they find Seleana’s wife, Christina Zdunich, and Aurora’s mother, Angelica Martinez, sitting and chatting together in the family room. Aurora runs in and jumps onto her mother on the couch.
Aurora Martinez: Their cars are so pretty!
Angelica and Christina both almost start laughing.
Angelica Martinez: Are they?
Aurora nods excitedly.
Aurora Martinez: Seleana’s car is black and goes vvvvvvrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooooommmm!!!!!
She pauses to look curiously at Christina.
Aurora Martinez: Does your car do that too?
Christina nods, the smile seemingly surgically implanted on her face.
Christina Zdunich: Yes, it does.
Angelica nods in amusement.
Angelica Martinez: What kind of car is it?
Aurora frowns.
Aurora Martinez: A monster… a mon...um…
Seleana smiles and nods to them.
Seleana Zdunich: A Maserati Quattroporte…
Angelica’s face blanches as Seleana nods to her wife.
Seleana Zdunich: Christina bought it for me, it was her first big gift…
She pauses and then nods to Aurora.
Seleana Zdunich: And you saw the second one today.
Aurora clasps her hands together.
Aurora Martinez: The animals were so awesome!
She stops to look at her mother.
Aurora Martinez: Did you know Seleana plays with lions like they’re just big kitties?
Angelica’s jaw drops.
Angelica Martinez: She… does?
Aurora nods emphatically.
Aurora Martinez: They brought the girl lion over to this big area behind a fence and Seleana went and got in and the girl lion came running up and jumps on her and Seleana hugged her like she was a big kitty and then the girl lion gave her a kiss and they fell down on the floor and the girl lion was purring!
Angelica looks up to Seleana and can only seemingly ask through ehr shock with her eyes. Before Seleana can answer and explain for herself, Christina nods with a proud smile on her face.
Christina Zdunich: Seleana raised this one as a cub, fed it from a bottle like a baby. I’ve seen pictures, it was so cute! One of her old co-workers even sent me a couple of video clips. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
She pauses and pulls her phone from her pocket.
Christina Zdunich: Matter of fact...
Within seconds, a video clip of Seleana with the then month-old lioness cub starts to play. Angelia, Aurora and Christina watch as Seleana feeds the much smaller lion with a baby bottle.
Aurora Martinez: That’s Sarabi?
Seleana walks over and looks at the clip playing in shock.
Seleana Zdunich: When did you get that?
Christina smirks at her wife.
Christina Zdunich: You’re not the only one who can be clever sometimes.
Seleana cocks her head.
Seleana Zdunich: Lincoln or Kylie?
Christina smiles as the clip ends and a second one starts.
Christina Zdunich: Lincoln. Zenna put me in touch with her.
Seleana shakes her head.
Seleana Zdunich: You have them as a playlist?
Christina nods as if that was an obvious move.
Christina Zdunich: How often do you get videos of your wife with her baby?
Angelica looks up and nods approvingly.
Angelica Martinez: Sarabi was a beautiful baby.
Aurora nods happily.
Aurora Martinez: She’s a pretty lady lion now! And so are Shera and Rani! They’re girl tigers! Seleana said they might get a white one soon too!
Seleana shrugs.
Seleana Zdunich: That will have to wait until it is allowed first but I am keen for one, ja.
Aurora hugs her mother.
Aurora Martinez: Can I go play my game now?
Angelica kisses the top of Aurora’s head.
Angelica Martinez: Yes, go have fun.
Aurora runs off her room and shuts the door behind her as she goes. A few seconds later, video game sounds can be heard coming from the room.
Angelica Martinez: Thank you for this… I’ve never seen her so happy!
Christina and Seleana both nod.
Seleana Zdunich: We should go in other room, ja?
Angelica slowly stands up, nodding slightly as she does so.
Angelica Martinez: Yeah, we should…
The three women head to the back bedroom and close the door. Angelica sits down on the bed, opens the side table’s drawer and pulls out the paperwork.
Seleana Zdunich: How’s it, Chickie?
Angelica sighs.
Angelica Martinez: I have good days and bad. There's more bad ones now than good. I’m dreading the day when it comes where I can't hide it from Aurora anymore. She’s doing so well…
She looks up to the door, tears in her eyes.
Angelica Martinez: Does she know?
Seleana shakes her head.
Seleana Zdunich: If she does, it is not from us. No one on the bot was keen to have that talk with her and no one did.
Christina nods.
Christina Zdunich: We had the talk with our family but none of us could bear the thought of telling her. It was agreed it was not our place either…
Seleana can’t nod fast enough.
Seleana Zdunich: We will be here if you’re keen for us when the time comes. You need not be alone in this, Chickie. We all love Aurora.
Angelica nods and then holds out the paper for Seleana.
Angelica Martinez: Just like you said. Her father’s rights were terminated a long time ago and this says… if… if...I… can’t…
Unable to continue, Angelica starts to cry, devolving into sobbing fits that cause both Christina and Seleana to move in quickly and take hold of the smaller woman.
Seleana Zdunich: It’s alright, Chickie. We have you.
Christina nods.
Christina Zdunich: We’re here.
Angelica continues to sob into their arms as Seleana sets the paperwork back into the drawer.
Seleana Zdunich: We can take these and execute them tomorrow if you’re keen, Chickie.
Angelica looks up and nods through her tears.
Angelica Martinez: Thank you!
Seleana and Christina hug her as Angelica continues crying at the thought of having to use the papers in that drawer.

The camera opens upon Seleana Zdunich standing by a roulette wheel as she looks around the empty casino. She nods slowly as the camera takes in the image of her standing there in a pair of blue jeans, a Wildside t-shirt and a pair of white Nikes, her hair pulled back into a ponytail. She takes the marble for the wheel and sets the wheel spinning.
Seleana Zdunich: This time there will be only two players in this game…
She watches as the wheel goes around and around.
Seleana Zdunich: We’ve played this one before, haven’t we, Keira?
Nodding, Seleana looks up to the camera.
Seleana Zdunich: Last time, it was decided beforehand that it would be an Ultimate X match above a pool on the deck of a cruise ship so there was no need to spin the wheel and pray as there usually is for these championship matches.
She holds up the marble and nods to it.
Seleana Zdunich: But this time…
She sets the marble in motion.
Seleana Zdunich: I have fought many people in this company. Many in other companies and they have almost all questioned me for one reason or another. Some question whether I truly ever wanted this because I did not start as a teenager and fight my way to a championship as quickly as possible. They questioned why I did not bother to start until after I was already over thirty and they questioned why I would bother starting if I was already ten years’ time in the hole, so to speak…
She watches as the marble goes around with the wheel, both going in opposite directions, both seemingly picking up speed as they go.
Seleana Zdunich: Others questioned if I was only doing this to please my wife because Christina is notoriously needy and greedy and half a dozen other adjectives that are equally unappealing to be labeled with. They questioned if I would ever have what it took to stand on a pedestal and say, “I am the champion!”
The marble continues on as the wheel starts to slow down.
Seleana Zdunich: Others would say all of that and then add in that I must not be worth a damn because my wife is obvious;y not worth a damn and if I would marry that then what good could I be? It was obvious to them and anyone else that looked that there was no talent in our house at all. My wife?
She shakes her head.
Seleana Zdunich: A worthless attention whore who runs away from problems she creates and then hides behind mental illness to try and avoid consequences that always come back ten times harder because of the shit she does.
Her hand starts to squeeze into a fist on the table in anger.
Seleana Zdunich: My daughter?
Again, Seleana shakes her head.
Seleana Zdunich: Her mother’s miniature and thus equally worthless. My daughter-in-law?
Seleana shakes her head even more.
Seleana Zdunich: An uncouth hanger-on redneck from a family that is lower than dirt that never bothered to get properly trained and pissed away her education getting wasted in any way she could think of.
She nods as the wheel continues to slow, the marble starting to slow as well.
Seleana Zdunich: And I am the mail order trophy wife that would be cast away when Christina needed another excuse to run and hide from some major stupidity she has done to us all.
The wheel comes to a halt and the marble lands on black thirteen.
Seleana Zdunich: But a funny thing happened along the way of all of our colleagues and compatriots pushing that idea. In the time I have been involved with this family, all four of us have won at least one championship here under the auspices of SCW. Brittany won the Roulette Championship and the Blast From The Past Tournament to gain herself standing as the top contender to the world championship. Christina won the World Championship, I won the World Championship and Halo has won both the Underground and Combat Championships in SCU.
She nods firmly as she lifts the SCW Women’s Roulette Championship belt into the shot.
Seleana Zdunich: And I now stand as the Roulette Champion with multiple defenses under my belt. We have proven that all of those thoughts were nothing but so much skit put forth by arrogant and jealous people who could not handle that we might just know what we are doing!
She nods and pats the belt.
Seleana Zdunich: Now I come to my next defense, against you, Keira, a woman I consider a friend.
She nods almost sadly, anger creeping into her eyes as well.
Seleana Zdunich: As I said before, I consider you family because you and your wife were two of the only people in SCW who accepted me from the start. Team Hero stood by the Hollywood Angels even when we were not able to be a tag team as Christina had proposed to me originally before L.A.W. You were willing to be our friends even when it was not convenient for you to do so, when it might even injure you and harm your reputations and instead, you both made it enhance them!
Taking a deep breath, Seleana looks down at the marble sitting in its slot and nods harshly.
Seleana Zdunich: I looked forward to every match I have when it comes to you and Roxi because I knew you would not be like the others…
Slowly looking up, Seleana glares into the camera.
Seleana Zdunich: So imagine my surprise and dismay when I see you question me just as everyone else did!
She raises a hand to stop the response that is inevitably coming back at her.
Seleana Zdunich: Do not tell me you did not, Keira! Everyone could see the tweety plain as day! Eighteenth August, you tweet out questioning if I can defeat you with no one else involved as if the only reason I won at Summer XXXTreme is because Jessie Salco and Maki were also there and if not for them you would have walked over me like I was nothing!
She looks away in frustration.
Seleana Zdunich: Did everyone learn nothing from watching me with Jessie Salco?
Her fist slams down onto the table.
Seleana Zdunich: Has the world just gone on crazy pills?
Turning back to the camera, Selean’s glare intensifies.
Seleana Zdunich: People told me I would never win a match, Keira. Then they said I would never win another one. They said I would never earn a championship opportunity and I would never win one. My CV says that was all definite bollocks and yet, you still discount what I have done because…?
She shrugs angrily.
Seleana Zdunich: Why? Did you always look down on me and you were only ever nice to me out of pity? Were you and Roxi never actually my friends?
She looks at the marble and nods to herself.
Seleana Zdunich: Or are you just grasping at straws because you are still rather stupidly questioning yourself?
Shaking with outrage, Seleana shakes her head and looks back to the camera.
Seleana Zdunich: No matter, I am still your friend. I will love you even if you don’t like me! I will show you that neither one of us is to be questioned! You are Keira Fucking Johnson of team Hero and I am Seleana Fucking Zdunich the SCW Womens’ Roulette Champion! We are going to go in there, give that wheel a spin, take whatever it gives us and steel the show from everyone else because we can and it is what we do! We will show the whole world and especially you that we are top stars here and I will show you why I am the champion!
She nods to the belt.
Seleana Zdunich: It is time to welcome you to the wildside, Keira…
Raising the belt up, she nods again pointedly.
