Front and Center

A bright sounding video package begins our story with the abc13 News at 4pm with Tricia Kean as we see her sitting behind the desk of the KTNV News Studio.

“Good afternoon Las Vegas, this afternoon, we begin with a live report from the Clark County Court House. Our own Jaewon Jung is live to bring us this story. Jaewon?”

A Live shot, as we see Ms. Jung standing outside of that very courthouse with a pad in her hand.

“Good afternoon Tricia. So to set the scene, back towards the beginning of January at the Turnberry Towers, there was a report of an attack on an individual who lived at the residence. According to police reports, in the parking deck that the residents share, a male in his 20s was attacked by an unknown assailant but thankfully the would-be victim was able to thwart his attacker. Every bit of the attack was caught on the Tower’s security camera footage, the assailant was apprehended at the scene taken to a local hospital and then booked on charges of assault with intent along with a few other charges, especially once an investigation into what led into the attack.”

This is called B Roll - Where we see a man that can’t be any older than 20, but the size of a linebacker with the look on his face that his good looks and daddy being his high school football coach, is what got him to graduation is shown in an orange jumpsuit on the stand.

“Trenton Crawell, on February 22nd appeared in Clark County Circuit Court and pleaded guilty to multiple charges to the attack on Carter McKinney, better known as Sin City Wrestling Superstar, Helluva Bottom Carter. Carter and his now fiance and also Sin City Star, Miles Kasey have resided at the Turnberry Towers for a little over a year now. The Clark County Assistant Prosecutor offered a plea deal to Crawell, in exchange for his testimony on his accomplice in the attack. That accomplice who has been on trial for the last week is 42 year old Karen Chapman, who until the time of the attack was also a resident on the towers where she was living with her now ex-husband and their 3 children. With the investigation, not only was a relationship between Chapman and Crawell revealed, but that they allegedly conspired to attack McKinney. Reports indicate that Ms. Chapman on several occasions had verbal altercations with Mr. McKinney and Mr. Kasey due to their relationship with an almost consistent harassment with multiple witnesses to that fact.”

Another B Roll where we see Karen, who is looking haggard as she has been behind bars since the attack is led into the courtroom.

“Ms. Chapman is facing not only all the charges to go with hiring Mr. Crawell for the attack but also she is additionally facing up to 20 years in prison under the state of Nevada’s hate crime law because of the nature of her crimes. After beginning the trial last week, final deliberations began late last night and in less than 24 hours the jury returned back with the verdict earlier this afternoon.”

We now switch to a live shot inside the courtroom. It’s not that much of a media circus, but a few people have gathered in the room, mostly on the side of the prosecution including Karen’s own ex-husband and all three of her kids including Kevin. Miles and Carter are sitting right in front of them which is just behind the desk and Karen can’t help but stare from the side of the defense at everyone in shock. She is truly alone.

The judge sits behind the bench at the very front of the room, looking hard nosed and going over the papers she was handed as the jury is ushered in. As they all take their seats, the judge clears her throat and looks out onto the audience.

“Before we begin with the verdict, I would like to invite Ms. Chapman to stand on her own behalf and speak. Let it be known ma’am, that usually I would not allow this, but I feel as seeing that your family is here to give you an opportunity to make amends. Understand that no matter what, the jury has your future in hand right now. So Ms. Chapman, do you have anything to say?”

Karen stands up and looks around and it’s obvious that she is fully acting it up for the crowd, complete with crocodile tears.

“Well, your honor...I- I would like to say just like I said in my testimony when I took the stand in my own defense that I was completely taken advantage of...I- I can’t help but feel like I am a victim.”

From the audience and after months and months of torments Miles couldn’t help but let out a snort and that little sound was enough to have Karen turn on her heel and glare directly towards the whole side of the room.

“IT WAS YOUR FAULT! YOU TURNED THEM ALL AGAINST ME! Kevin, baby...please...please look at me.”

The judge slams her gavel down multiple times, “THAT IS QUITE ENOUGH MS. CHAPMAN!”

“No, your honor, you don’t understand. These homosexual deviants destroyed the very fabric of my family and I was left with no other-...I mean...”

“No other what, Ms. Chapman?” the judge asked like she was about to confess in open court of her crimes. But Karen clams up and looks down in shame, after a few beats the judge sighs. “So be it. Will the foreperson be so kind as to give us the verdict?”

Wait!” Miles speaks up and stands up, “Your honor, if I may?

“Mr. Kasey, I really don’t think...” the judge says but she just can’t seem to help herself, she wants to hear this. “It’s unusual but...go ahead.”

Miles stands straight and looks at Karen but she doesn’t even look at him.

You can’t even hide it anymore can you? You can’t simply live with the fact that your hatred has not only cost you your family but it’s about to cost you an actual life? Sure, you screwed around with a kid barely out of high school, he turned around and threw you to the proverbial wolves. And you still can’t let your hatred go.” Miles pauses to see if it would get through to her, “You want to know the worst part? Your disdain for myself and my fiance is completely one sided and completely just your battle. You lost everything and just can’t stop your whole life from turning upside down with a simple ‘I’m sorry and I was wrong.’?

Karen looks up to him, and the whole ‘I’m innocent’ act and Miles was right, she can’t let it go and simply states, “Go to hell.”

...have it your way. Your honor, I’m done. Sorry for wasting the court's time.

Miles took his seat next to Carter, taking his hand and wrapping his arm around Carter’s shoulder and taking a breath with Carter whispering, “You tried. I’m shocked you wanted to, but...

Miles was out of fucks to give at that moment for that woman, she tried to take away his happiness. He looks back at Hank, Kevin and the other two kids who are looking like they are absolutely embarrassed,  “For them, but after that...let her rot.

The judge bangs the gavel to bring things back to focus, “As I was saying, has the jury reached a verdict?”

“We have your honor.”

And with the note passed from jury to the judge, her fate was sealed.

Guilty, on all counts.

And she had absolutely no one to blame but herself, as much as she wanted to blame everyone else.

Hardcore Dose of Reality

You know, in this business, you come across all types. From the seasoned veterans to the up-and-comers hungry for success. But then there's Justin Smith. The so-called "hardcore legend" who's never managed to make much of an impact in SCW.

Now, don't get me wrong. I respect anyone who steps into that ring. It takes guts, it takes determination. But there's something about Justin that just rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it's the way he struts around like he's God's gift to wrestling, despite never actually achieving anything of note. In fact, he couldn’t hit a stride like it was water and he was falling out of a fucking boat. Or maybe it's the way he talks about himself like he's some kind of legend, when in reality, he's nothing more than a footnote in SCW history.

But you know what? I'm not here to waste my time with inflated egos and empty boasts. I've got bigger things on my plate, real-life challenges that actually matter. My last few weeks between court cases and everything else, I am not exactly in the best of moods as hard as I have tried.

I’ve kept telling people that I’m the dangerous sort and when I am even remotely pissed off.

You see, Justin, I've been through hell and back in this business. I've faced opponents twice your size, twice your skill, and come out victorious. And do you know why? Because I don't just rely on brute strength, a growly voice or flashy moves. I rely on heart, determination, and a relentless drive to succeed.

So, Justin, if you think you're going to waltz into that ring and walk all over me with your delusions of grandeur, you've got another thing coming. Because tonight, I'm not just fighting for myself. I'm fighting for everyone who's ever been underestimated, for everyone who's ever been overlooked.

Sunday, I'm going to expose you for exactly what you are: a fraud. I'm going to show the world that you're not the hardcore legend you claim to be, but a mere shadow of the real competitors in this industry. Because when it comes down to it, Justin, talent speaks louder than words.

When the dust settles and the smoke clears, you'll know that you stepped into the ring with someone who's not just a wrestler, but a fighter. Someone who's faced adversity head-on and come out on top. Someone who's not afraid to stand up for what's right, no matter the odds. The NEXT level that you can only have wet dreams to reach.

So, Justin, bring your best, if that is even possible. Bring everything you've got. Because on Sunday, you're stepping into the ring with Miles Kasey. And trust me, you're going to remember it for a long, long time.

Taking Care

As the SCW Internet Champion, Miles Kasey was no stranger to challenges. Whether it was facing off against formidable opponents in the ring or navigating the complexities of his personal life, he had always tackled obstacles head-on with unwavering determination. But nothing could have prepared him for the challenge he faced when Carter, his fiancé, fell ill with a severe case of bronchitis.

It started innocently enough, with Carter complaining of a persistent cough and mild fatigue. But as the days passed, his symptoms worsened, leaving him bedridden and miserable. Miles watched with growing concern as his normally energetic and vibrant partner became increasingly lethargic and irritable. And driving Miles completely insane beyond the typical.

He would have rather Carter stayed in their bed, which he knew Carter was the most comfortable in, but Carter insisted on moving himself into the secondary bedroom that was once upon a time his room. Something about not taking chances of Miles not getting sick, but it seemed like Miles was a bit immune to this particular sickness this time around.

Just like Carter did with Miles when Miles came down with a wicked case of food poisoning, Miles saw to Carter’s every need. From soup, to water, to tea...as much as Carter grumbled at the sight of it instead of his usual coffee along with medication he needed to kick this. He had more luck giving Ms. Thang her heartworm medication.

"Carter, please," Miles pleaded, his voice laced with worry, as he attempted to coax his stubborn fiancé into taking his medication on top of drinking tea instead of coffee, "You need to take this. It'll help with the cough."

Carter scowled, pushing the medication away with a stubborn shake of his head. "I don't need it," he insisted, his voice hoarse and strained. "I'll be fine."

Miles sighed, frustration bubbling beneath the surface as he struggled to conceal his concern. He knew Carter was fiercely independent and loathed being confined to bed, well at least when he was sick, but he couldn't stand idly by while his partner suffered.

"You're not fine, love," Miles said firmly, his tone brooking no argument. "You're sick, and you need to take care of yourself. Please, just take the medication and have a sip of tea. It’s either this or I’ll grab the funnel and sit on you and I don’t think it’d be good for you for that kind of action right now."

“You keep saying this and part of me is really tempted to take you up on it,” Reluctantly, Carter relented, accepting the medication with a resigned sigh. Miles watched with relief as his partner finally acquiesced, hoping that the medication would provide some much-needed relief.

“Thank you,” Miles smirked, “You know I’m not much of a fan of you being in here by yourself.”

“I’m not going to risk you getting sick too. You have too much going for you right now.” Carter says setting up to take another sip of tea, making a face, “Usually, I don’t mind tea but I really rather have coffee.”

“Yeah, well tea is better for you and it’s too late for coffee anyways, especially the kind you have. That milk isn’t great right now for you. So deal, babe.” he places his hand on Carter’s forehead, “Not feeling warm but still, you should sleep.”

“If I can without coughing.”

Miles sighs and uses the same hand to push Carter back to the pillows, “Try. I’m gonna go grab a shower and I’ll check on ya in a few. No moving.”

If there was ever a pout that could have broken Miles' heart, Carter attempted it. Carter though only got a shake of the head and a laugh, “You’re no fair.”

“And yet you agreed to marry my arse,” Miles tease, “Sleep.”

Sure enough, in the short time that Miles was in there, Carter was fast asleep. Miles tried as he might to sleep in the other room but after about an hour, he couldn’t. There was nothing he could do. They hadn’t slept in different beds since the night before they had gotten together and it was hell to try and start now.

So without so much of a thought he left their bed, looked around noticing that Ms. Thang was nowhere to be seen and made his way back across the hall. As soon as he entered the room, he found where the cat had been, with Carter, laying on his chest looking as content as can be.

“Good girl,” he said giving her a scratch on the head before walking around to the other side of the bed and laying down next to Carter. Ms. Thang knew what was coming next and she moved quickly down to the end of the bed before Miles carefully tried to not wake up Carter by gathering him up, but Carter stirred. “Shhh, don’t mind me.”

“Miles, no...I don’t want you to-”

“I’ll be fine, but I couldn’t sleep.” Miles said settling in, and after a bit Carter realizes that he’s not gonna win this argument. A smile grew over Carter’s face, “Not one word, love.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Family Matters

Miles sat in front of his laptop, the screen glowing softly in the dimly lit room. He fidgeted nervously as he waited for the video call to connect, his mind swirling with a mix of excitement and apprehension. It had been a while since he had last spoken to his sister Brianna, and he couldn't help but wonder what news she had to share. He’d hear from her via text now and again but they had all been so busy.

Finally, Brianna's tired but welcoming face appeared on the screen, her eyes lighting up at the sight of her brother. "Miles! It's been too long," she exclaimed, stifling a yawn. "How are you?"

Miles returned her smile, relieved to see her familiar face. "I'm hanging in there," he replied, his voice tinged with exhaustion. "How about you? How are Garrett and Riley?"

Brianna's expression softened, her fatigue giving way to concern. "We've been better," she admitted, her voice heavy with worry. "We’re all trying to work a lot more and well...Garrett's mother found out about your wedding, and let's just say she didn't take it well."

Miles felt a knot form in his stomach at the mention of Garrett's mother. He had always known that she disapproved of his relationship with Carter, but he hadn't expected her reaction to be quite so harsh.

"Well she hasn’t been my biggest fan since the wedding," Miles said, his heart sinking. "Is everything okay?"

Brianna shook her head, her frustration evident. "Not really. We’ve had to have her watch Riley because of all of us taking on extra jobs lately to save up. Well Garrett let it slip about the reasons why and since then she's been giving Garrett a hard time about it, saying all sorts of hurtful things. She knows not to say that to me, because I will tell her where to take her shite opinions especially when it has to do with you AND Carter."

Miles clenched his jaw, his fists tightening with anger. He hated seeing his brother-in-law suffer because of his relationship with Carter, especially when Garrett had done nothing wrong.

"Unbelievable," Miles said, his voice brimming with righteous indignation. "Garrett deserves better than that. He's a good man, and he loves Riley more than anything."

Brianna nodded, her eyes shining with tears. "I know, Miles. It's just... hard. We're doing our best to ignore her, but it's not easy when she's constantly making snide remarks and trying to drive a wedge between us."

"I wish there was something I could do to help," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I hate knowing that you're going through this because of me and Carter. I think Carter is right, maybe planning a trip over and visiting may be a good idea."

Brianna shook her head, her gaze steady. "We would love that, Miles. But none of this isn't your fault. Garrett's mother has always been difficult, even before you and Carter got engaged. She’s just a gross human being that is unfortunately related to me by marriage."

“That whole saying about not being able to pick your family...”

“Well Garrett came with that mess. He adores you guys and you know it, she’s just...vile.”

“With a capital V. Look, I know Carter is going to be biting at the bit. Let us figure this out, but you let that bitch anywhere near my nephew after that-”

“Oh don’t you worry about that, after her last rant, even Garrett told her she’s off babysitting duty until she goes to Oz and gets a heart, a brain and a damn bit of common sense.”

“I knew he was a good man, but Wizard of Oz? Really?”

“Hey! That’s a good movie dammit!”

Miles chuckled, the tension in the room easing slightly at the familiar banter with his sister. "Alright, fair point. But seriously, Bri, if there's anything I can do to help, just let me know. I'll do whatever it takes to support you and Garrett."

Brianna smiled gratefully, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "Thank you, Miles. That means the world to me. Just knowing that you're there for us, even from miles away, gives me strength."

Miles nodded, his heart swelling with love for his sister. "Always, Bri. You're not alone in this. We'll get through it together, just like we always do."

The Reunion

You know, it's been a minute since I teamed up with Ally. We've had our fair share of battles together, some victories, some not so much. But every time we step into that ring, there's this undeniable chemistry between us. It's like we can anticipate each other's moves without even having to say a word.

But this match, it's different. We're not going in as just another mixed tag team. Nah, this time it's personal. This time, it's about proving ourselves as individuals. After that last defeat, I knew we needed to switch gears, focus on our singles careers. And now, facing off against The Conspiracy, it's like the universe is giving us a chance to show just how far we've come.

Raven and Luna, they're no joke. I've seen the way they operate, the mind games they play. But we're not backing down. Not now, not ever. Raven may have his sights set on Ben, but tonight, it's all about us. It's about showing The Conspiracy that they picked the wrong opponents to mess with.

Sure, the title isn't on the line tonight. But that doesn't mean we're taking this match lightly. Every match, every opportunity to step into that ring is a chance to prove ourselves, to show the world what we're made of. And tonight, we're going to leave it all out there.

So, Ally, if you're listening, let's do this. Let's show The Conspiracy what happens when you underestimate us. Let's show them that we're not just another tag team, we're a force to be reckoned with. And when that final bell rings, they'll know that Miles Kasey and Alexandra Calaway are here to stay.

Under the starry Santa Barbara night sky, Miles Kasey sat on the edge of a weathered wooden pier, his feet dangling above the gently lapping waves below. The soft glow of the nearby harbor cast a warm, amber hue over the scene, creating an atmosphere of tranquility amidst the bustling city.

With a heavy sigh, Miles leaned back, his hands braced against the weathered planks as he gazed out at the horizon. The distant sound of seagulls mingled with the faint hum of traffic, a reminder of the world beyond the peaceful solitude of the pier.

"It's nights like these that make you appreciate the quiet," Miles remarked, his voice carrying a hint of nostalgia as he turned to his companion, Alexandra Calaway, who sat beside him, her gaze fixed on the horizon.

"Yeah," Alexandra agreed, her tone soft as she absently traced patterns in the sand with her fingertips. "It's a welcome break from the chaos of the ring."

Miles nodded in agreement, his thoughts drifting to the upcoming match. "Speaking of which, I've been thinking about Climax Control," he said, his voice thoughtful. "I know it feels like just another match with nothing really on the line but...I think we both know...This isn't just any match, Ally. It's a chance for us to prove ourselves, to show that we're more than just a tag team."

Alexandra nodded, her expression serious as she met Miles' gaze. "I know what you mean," she said, her tone determined. "We've both come a long way since our last match together. I know I’ve been through a lot and...I still can’t help but apologize."

“Don’t even worry about it. We all go through the hard times in our lives,” Miles smiled, a flicker of excitement lighting up his eyes. "But I asked you last week if you were ready for this," he said, his voice filled with confidence. "And without skipping a beat, you knew and you responded. We've faced our fair share of challenges, but Sunday, we're going to take on The Conspiracy and come out on top. Nothing is going to stand in our way."

With a shared nod of determination, Miles and Alexandra rose to their feet, their spirits lifted by the promise of the challenge ahead. As they made their way back to the bustling streets of Santa Barbara, the echoes of their resolve lingered in the night air.

“You know my dear, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.”

Across the Miles: A Proposal Celebration

In the dimly lit living room of his Henderson, NV suite, Miles sat before his laptop, the soft glow of the screen casting a warm light on his face. It was the early hours of the morning, a time when most of the world still slept, but for Miles, it was the perfect moment to share his joy with his family across the Atlantic.

He glanced back into the bedroom, Carter was sound asleep with a smile on his face and seeing that helped calm himself for what he needed to do.

With a sense of anticipation coursing through him, Miles clicked on the video call icon, the familiar sound of the connection ringing out into the quiet room. Moments later, his sister Brianna's tired but welcoming face appeared on the screen, her eyes brightening at the sight of her brother.

"Miles! What a surprise," Brianna exclaimed, stifling a yawn. "It's the crack of dawn here, you know."

Miles chuckled softly. "Well I’m sorry to wake you before you had a chance to caffeinate, Bri. But I've got some big news to share."

As Brianna adjusted her headphones, Miles couldn't help but notice the exhaustion etched on her face. "Hold on, let me grab my headphones. Garrett and Riley are asleep in the next room. Garrett's got a nasty case of the flu, and Riley's not far behind. It’s like a wicked case of the bubonic plague almost, thankfully I seem to be immune at the moment."

“Ooof, and you are on how much sleep?” Miles joked.

“Not nearly enough, gimmie a mo’” she stepped out of the shot for a moment, “Alright, so what is this huge news you have to share before coffee?”

Miles wasted no time in sharing his news. "Last night... I proposed to Carter. And he said yes!"

Brianna's eyes widened in surprise, her hand flying to her mouth. "Miles, that's amazing! Congratulations! I'm so happy for you both. Oh my God! Wait...where’s Carter? I thought that he would want to share the news with you at least."

“He’s asleep right now,” Miles said leaning back with a smirk on his face that only caused his twin sister to roll her eyes.

“Bragger.”

“Not bragging but-” Miles laughed lightly, “Besides, I had some time to kill before I could feel comfortable calling you. I wanted to call mum first but I wasn’t sure...”

“Well, it just so happens...” The joy in Brianna's voice warmed Miles' heart, but there was one more person he wanted to share the moment with. "Guess who just walked through the door?" she said.

As Brianna's confusion turned to delight, Mora, their mother, stepped into view behind her, her expression a mix of surprise and joy. "Miles, darling! This is a pleasant surprise! What’s with the early morning call?"

“Mornin’ mum. What has you over to Brianna’s so early?”

“Well with her boys down for the count, I’ve been bringing over meals as well as tea and helping taking care of them,” Mora said with a smile, “I do anything for my kids, you know that. Now, the reason for the call and the reason why my daughter is dancing happily over here. She looks like she’s ready to explode.”

Miles laughed, “Ok, before Bri explodes I guess- Wait, do you have your phone on you?”

“Yeah, of course.” Mora pulls it from her purse, “I just hadn’t turned it on yet.”

“Perfect,” Miles says as he quickly grabs his phone and text her real quick, “Annnd picture sent.”

After a moment, “OH MILES! That ring is beautiful. Is that for...no, wait- that is Carter’s hand.” After a few moments pass by, “Miles Anthony Kasey, did you propose to Carter?!?!”

Miles nodded eagerly, his smile widening. "Yes, Mum! Carter and I are engaged. I wanted to share the news with both of you at the same time."

Brianna finally was allowed to explode in excitement and her and Mora exchanged excited chatter, their faces glowing with happiness. "This is incredible! I wish we could celebrate together in person," Brianna exclaimed.

"We'll have to plan a trip to visit you both soon," Mora added. "But for now, oh my baby, I am just...did you call his mother yet?"

“He did it first thing when we got back from the restaurant. We have a trip to Seattle planned before My Bloody Valentine, I’m amazed she didn’t beat me to the punch.”

“Same but I’ll have to make sure to call her later. I know it’s after midnight over there.”

With a contented sigh, Miles leaned back in his chair, the glow of the laptop screen illuminating his face.

“Listen, I’m going to let you two go as I still need to get some sleep and I promise we will call you later. Tell Garrett and the lil dude that I hope they feel better, okay?”

“We will.” Brianna said.

“We love you!”

“Love you too.”

And with that they ended the call and Miles closed up his laptop and carefully entered into the room and curled up in bed next to Carter, gathering him closer.

Carter stirred ever so slightly and Miles knew he was sunk in trying to not wake his fiance up, “So, how’d it go?”

Miles smiled, pulling him even tighter, “I thought Bri was going to explode and ruin it for me, but she was able to hold it in just long enough. I was more shocked that your mother didn’t beat me to the punch.”

Carter glanced up at him, “She wouldn’t do that but I can promise you that the moment they both are awake, they may start planning the wedding for us.”

Settling down, he turned his head, “Would you really allow them to take that kind of power out of your hands?”

That brought a laugh from his fiance, “Oh hell no...but we’ll let them dream, for now.”

And it seems like the talk of anything sleep related brought a yawn to the both of them.

“Carter?”

“Yeah?”

“Just to recap, you really did agree to marry me right?”

“Mmmhmm, but if you want me to pinch you to make sure that you weren’t dreaming...”

“You do that and neither one of us is going to get any sleep tonight.”

“Well...if you insist.”

And ever so slight a movement and Miles eyes shoot open.

“And there goes my morning workout.”

Gonna Just, Breathe
Olympia, WA

As Miles walked through the house, Carter joined him, his presence a reassuring presence by his side. The weight of the recent events hung heavy between them, yet there was an unspoken understanding that carried them through.

"You okay?" Carter's voice broke the silence, his concern evident in his tone.

Miles nodded, his jaw set in determination. "Yeah, I'm alright. Just... processing everything, you know?"

Carter placed a comforting hand on Miles' shoulder, offering silent support. "It was a lot to take in. I'm just glad it's over, for now at least."

Miles turned to face Carter, his gaze softening as he met his fiancé's eyes. "Me too. I don't know what I would've done if anything had happened to you. Especially with that lot."

Carter offered a small smile, his eyes reflecting gratitude. "You've always had my back, Miles. I have no doubt about that."

“Yeah, well...I have a lot of reasons. Including but not limited to wanting that whole life with you.” Miles smirked, “I hadn’t felt like that in a while.”

They continued their quiet stroll through the house, the tension gradually easing with each step.

"I love you, you know that?" Miles said, his voice tinged with emotion.

Carter squeezed his hand gently, a tender smile playing on his lips. "I love you too, Miles. Are you sure you are alright?"

“I will be. The last two times you’ve been through something like this, you haven’t needed my protection at all. Let me tell ya though, I was not beyond putting that one uncle of yours in the ground.” Miles shook his head, “I really need to stop that feeling.”

“Hey, I know, ok? My hand is still killing me.”

“That was a hell of a punch. Even that one officer is impressed.”

In that moment, as they navigated the aftermath of the turmoil together, Miles knew that with Carter by his side, they could weather any storm that came their way. And as they emerged from the darkness into the light, their bond only grew stronger, a testament to the power of love and resilience in the face of adversity.

Like An Itch You Need to Sandblast
Back to Vegas

As Miles sat through the scathing words from his opponent, Oliver "Oz" Zahn, a mixture of frustration and determination brewed within him. The accusations, the doubts cast upon his abilities as the SCW Internet Champion, they gnawed at him like a persistent itch he couldn't scratch.

He paced the room, the weight of Zahn's words heavy on his mind. "I must have missed something…" Miles muttered to himself, his brow furrowed in thought. The implication that he was somehow unworthy of his championship rankled him deeply.

Carter watched silently from the doorway, his expression a mix of concern and support. "Hey, don't let that get to you," he said softly, stepping into the room to join Miles.

Miles sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "It's just... infuriating, you know? To have someone question everything you've worked so hard for."

Carter approached him, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "You've proven yourself time and time again, Miles. Don't let one person's words undermine that."

But Miles couldn't shake the doubt that lingered in his mind. "I know, but... what if he's right? What if I'm not as good as I think I am?"

Carter shook his head, his gaze held solid to his fiance, "You are more than good enough, Miles. You're the Internet Champion for a reason. You've earned that title, and no one can take that away from you. Look at everyone that you have faced up until now, that was no easy task at all and now that snarky bastard shows up, he takes that one win for a shot, now you are going to show him exactly why for the last 5 months you have been a terrific champ."

Miles met Carter's gaze, the warmth and conviction in his eyes a balm to his troubled thoughts. "Thanks, love. I needed to hear that."

Carter smiled, squeezing Miles' shoulder gently. "Anytime, babe. Remember, you're not alone in this. I'll always be here to support you, no matter what."

"Alright," Miles said, his voice steady with resolve. "Let's show Zahn just what the Internet Champion is capable of."

With Carter's support bolstering him, Miles felt a surge of confidence coursing through him. Together, they would prove that he was more than just a placeholder champion – he was a force to be reckoned with. And as they prepared to face Zahn in the ring once more, Miles knew that he would leave no doubt as to his worthiness as the SCW Internet Champion.

“You know, I was once that young upstart with a chip on my shoulder.”

Miles sat alone in his room, the words of Oliver "Oz" Zahn echoing in his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling of doubt that had settled over him since going back and listening to Zahn's scathing remarks. With a heavy sigh, he leaned back in his chair and ran a hand through his hair, frustration gnawing at him.

"Oliver Zahn," Miles muttered to himself, the name leaving a bitter taste in his mouth. "He's certainly not one to hold back."

As he reflected on their past encounters in the ring, Miles couldn't deny the truth in Zahn's words. There had been moments when he had faltered, when victory had slipped through his fingers. The memory of those defeats weighed heavily on him, a constant reminder of his shortcomings.

But Miles refused to let those moments define him. He knew he was capable of more, of rising above the doubts and proving himself once again. With determination burning in his eyes, he squared his shoulders and made a silent vow to silence Zahn's criticisms once and for all.

"Olly may think he has me all figured out," Miles said aloud, his voice tinged with resolve. "But he's in for a surprise. I'm not about to let him or anyone else shake my confidence. I've worked too damn hard to let it all slip away now."

"Oliver may talk a big game," Miles muttered, his brows furrowed in concentration. "But deep down, I think he's just as uncertain as the rest of us. Maybe even more so."

As he prepared for their upcoming match, Miles focused on channeling his frustration into motivation, turning every doubt into fuel for his fire. With his eyes set on victory, he knew that no matter what Zahn threw at him, he would emerge stronger, more determined than ever before.

"Spoiled little shit thinks he can waltz in here and take what's mine? Not on my watch."

He paused, his gaze hardening as he remembered their previous encounters.

"I've faced Zahn before, and let me tell you, he's nothing but a cocky, entitled brat," Miles continued, his words laced with contempt. "Thinks he can coast on the Jet City name and reputation. If I had done that with Wolfslair, I would still be back in the Roulette division spinning my fucking wheels. Yeah, I still wave the flag proudly but when you do nothing but suck on Jet City’s name, you lose your own sense of personality. The great Oz though, he has the swagger, he even has some of the titles to back it up but what he lacks, is follow-through."

He shook his head, a scowl forming on his face. "Well, he's in for a rude awakening. Because in that ring, it's just me and him. And I don't care how many fancy titles he's held or how many big names he's beaten. When he steps into my domain, he's going to learn what it means to face a true champion. I wanted you to have this opportunity Olly, I wanted to give you a chance. You slandered my name but hey, at least I beat Austin when it fucking mattered. My SCW Internet Champion IS what MATTERS Oliver. That has been for the last 5 months my whole focus in my professional life and I am damn proud to be the man to lead that division."

Miles clenched his fists tighter, his resolve unwavering. "So let him talk his talk, let him strut around like he thinks owns the place. Because when that bell rings, it's game over for him. He's stepping into the ring with me, and he's about to get hit with a force he never saw coming."

"Bring it on, Zahn," Miles said, a fierce determination burning in his eyes. "I'm ready for whatever you throw at me. And when all is said and done, you'll know exactly why they call me the Internet Champion."

With that, Miles continued his preparations, his focus unwavering as he geared up mentally and physically for the upcoming showdown with Oliver Zahn.

Climax Control Archives / Wake-Up Call
« on: January 26, 2024, 11:55:26 PM »
Good Morning Love,

I’m pretty sure that when you wake up, I’ll just be finishing off my early morning workout and about to walk through the door like always, so if my timing is correct the coffee maker should be finished. I figured it was the perfect way to start this day along with your favorite flowers. And a perfect way to start our anniversary. I know technically it’s not until Saturday but hey, when have we ever done anything by conventional means?

Either way, I hope this brings a smile to your beautiful face. Something that I have strived for every single day and I couldn’t picture this with anyone else and never want to.

Be back soon.

Love,
Miles

It was something new that he had decided to start the day with. And it wasn’t another ordinary day, not that any day was ordinary since Miles Kasey had opened up the proverbial floodgates with Carter.

Before January 27th, 2023, Miles had himself convinced that he never deserved the best things in life. From growing up in Manchester to New York to just before he went west, all his hard work had just got him to the point of living comfortably in an uncomfortable situation. He saved practically everything he made and spent just enough to survive, because he had convinced himself that all the time in SCW and in other places were far too good to last.

It wasn’t until he took a chance, cracked open his savings, bought the condo that he and Carter now call home and took some risky chances, did Miles realize that sometimes the best things in life are worth taking massive risks for.

Here he was, a year later, that condo no longer feeling just lived in but an actual home that he and Carter made that wove their respect taste so well, that both of their families pointed it out during the holidays. They even adopted an unexpected guest, when somehow, Ms Thang snuck her way in one night and made herself at home. They still never figured out where she came from, and honestly after all the spoiling that she has received, it was highly doubtful that she would have even cared if her original owners would have come to claim her. She was also fiercely protective of her boys too and loved them just as much as they loved her.

So he could indeed have the best things in life and the risks were well worth the rewards.

They drove down to Henderson early, just to spend time enjoying one another as well as a few other things. Carter himself chose the details of the day and it all wrapped up at the top of a glorious restaurant that he had found. They enjoyed the wonderful meal, passing words of praise to the chef and their crew, a terrific view and each other's company.

The risks did indeed bring them the best rewards.

But there was something weighing heavy in Miles' inner pocket in his vest that he needed to discuss with Carter. So by the time the bill was paid and they were ready to rush back to their room, Miles stopped short next to a circular fire pit that was a part of the decor of the rooftop bistro.

Miles wasn’t sure if it was the large meal that sat in his stomach or the nerves but apparently he went white enough to catch concern from the best thing that has ever happened in his life.

Miles?” Carter let out with a slight tone of worry while keeping ahold of Miles’ hand, “You alright? Was the meal too much?

Miles shook his head, “No, actually the meal was wonderful,” he paused for a bit and looked up and let out a small laugh, “It was all wonderful, all of it.

Well, that-” Carter looked even more worried now. “Was?

I mean the whole day and I am so glad that we did this, just the two of us. As much as I enjoy the company of our friends, I rather this next part, much like our beginning is just the two of us with no interference from outside sources.” Miles looked at those beautiful blue eyes of Carter and smirked, “I guess our beginning had a little push from a few people, but at the end of that particular chapter it has led to a wonderful year together. I keep thinking one day I’ll wake up and somehow none of it would have been real and I’d be back in New York, feeling stupid for almost letting you walk out of my life.

Miles turns and looks directly at Carter who is just at a loss for words for a brief moment, “Well it wasn’t my most shining moment. I recall telling my mom and grams that ‘good things’ like you never happen to me and they have never let me live it down since.

As they should, and I have another reminder for you,” Miles says, reaching into her inner vest pocket and pulls out a piece of paper that has been obviously in his possession for a while, “I’m sure you remember this.

Carter looks at it and he goes to grab it but Miles pulls it away, shaking his head.

Oh Christ, Miles...WHY did you keep that?!? I thought it just vanished like it never existed.” Carter cried out and Miles, with both hands, grabbing his boyfriend’s face and kissing his lips to quiet him for a moment.

With a whisper, “Because I needed a reminder as to how fucking close I came to fucking it all up. I could have said something in Seattle, I could have spoken up at the airport, I could have flown back and done a lot of other things before I ever made you ever feel that this was your only choice. And on that night you could have told me a million things and instead you, Carter McKinney, gave me a whole year to prove that you not only deserve me but you have me for as long as you want.

Miles puts the letter in Carter’s hand and looks to the fire, which causes Carter to look down for a moment and then back at Miles whose eyes are shining so bright you’d swear he was almost crying, “You- You want me to burn it?

“I want you to let go of every single doubt that you have ever had that brought this letter into this universe, and I want you to watch it be released for not just you, but for the both of us.” Miles says with a brilliant smirk, “And then we can move to what is next.

Carter raises an eyebrow giving Miles that ‘What are you up to?’ look, “And what is next?

Miles just laughs and motions to the flames, “Burn it and find out.

Carter looks down at the letter for a moment before he drops it into the flames and it is immediately fully engulfed in the fire. They both watch it for a little bit, Miles holding his hand firmly as Carter lets go of a breath he wasn’t even aware that he was holding, and shakes his head. “That actually felt really-” Carter stops when he turns his head and his eyes stop on a small box that is sitting in the open hand of Miles, and Carter damn near swallows his tongue.

This one doesn’t go into the fire, and I would be heartbroken if you took it and threw it in,” Miles lets out to break the silence, and he turns to look at him, keeping a firm but not loose grip on Carter’s hand. “I’m not about to make a giant scene, because I know how much you hate that unless it's you that wants to make it that way. You have made my life immeasurably better and I have told you on multiple occasions that I love you with every single fiber of my being. And lord knows, I have so much more to give. So...Carter, will you-

Miles doesn’t even get to finish his question before Carter kisses him, fully and with not much care about who is around them or even watching, and after a while he breaks it and leans his forehead against Miles who is just looking at him, “You know you could have proposed with one of those onion rings and I would have said ‘yes’, right?

Miles sighs happily, and he pulls Carter in for the biggest hug he could muster through all the emotion, “Good to know.

Carter sighed happily, “Now, about Twister.

And they said, the laughter from them both could be heard for miles.

The hotel suite was a picture of modern comfort, soft lights casting a warm glow across the tastefully decorated living room. Miles Kasey, the SCW Internet Champion, sat on a plush couch, his championship belt resting beside him. The ambiance was calm, a stark contrast to the intensity of the upcoming match with Oliver "OZ" Zahn.

"Well, here we are, on the precipice of something big. My Bloody Valentine V is looming, and the stakes are high. I know for a fact that I will be defending the Internet Championship, proving once again why apparently the eyes of almost every single roster member has their eyes directly on me. Yes, the loss in the first round of the World Championship Tournament stung but I have important things to worry about. And we’re going to learn a little bit more about one another Oz."

Miles leaned back into the couch, his gaze thoughtful.

"Ozzy, you're no stranger to success. A former World Mixed Tag Team Champion, a name that resonates in the history of SCW. Tonight, you and I shared the ring, a canvas where stories are written in sweat and echoes of cheers and boos for some. You, like me, tripped at the starting gate of that damn tournament that J2H set on us and well, we find ourselves in an interesting situation."

He picked up the championship belt, his fingers tracing the emblem.

"This, my Internet Championship, it's more than gold and leather. It's a symbol. A symbol of resilience, of overcoming the storms. When you are a champion, and you know this, you have a lot of people that are gunning right for you to knock you off of that pedestal. And Olly, you have been set directly in the eye of a  tempest of your own. A challenge that reminded me why I'm here, why I step into that ring every time. But here is the thing, YOU have to beat me to get to My Bloody Valentine. It is all on you. You have to get through Henrdson and Climax Control to get up the road to Las Vegas to get a real shot at me and this championship."

Miles shifted his gaze to the window, the city lights twinkling in the distance.

"The chip on your shoulder since losing the Mixed Tag Titles I’m sure is nagging at you every second of every day since then. And in a way, I hope that you get to Vegas and in a way, I look forward to you and I really going at it when it is all on the line. In a way, I’m looking forward to My Bloody Valentine V, a night where destiny intertwines with competition. The question lingers, will you emerge from the shadows, shaking off that slip, step into the storm, and claim the chance to face me when it is on the line? You have a chance to put yourself there Oliver, no one is in control of that, but you, lad."

He turned back to the camera, a fire in his eyes.

"This Internet Championship means something. And it should mean something to you as well. It means I'm not just a placeholder; I am THE force. And Oz, you will only get a sneak peak of what hell I am willing to unleash to remain the Internet Champion. I can feel the storm brewing, and if you do make it to My Bloody Valentine V, it'll be the epicenter. And to the challengers waiting, to the ones hungry for a taste of gold, know this — I'll be ready. Ready to weather whatever storm you bring."

And with that he left the title hanging on the back of the couch, for it to be focused on.

Well, here we are, entering into 2024 still the reigning SCW Internet Champion. Christmas came and went, as both myself and Carter spent our time in Las Vegas with Carter's mom, Joanna and gram, Joan, while my mum, Mora, sister, Brianna, brother-in-law, Grant and nephew, Riley all spent the holiday together. And it all went absolutely wonderful.

I don’t want to bore you with the details, but if we thought 2022’s Christmas was spectacular, that didn’t even hold a candle to this full on family celebration that they had had. They even invited the usual suspects of Ariana and Francisco. The door was always open to friends. Traditions were carried out, Christmas movies were played, food was wonderful and gifts were exchanged. And by the time the McKinney’s and Kasey’s had all parted ways, something interesting happened.

Mum and Joanna have become fast friends, sharing stories of their boys, much to mine and Carter's (mostly Carter’s) horror via text, phone calls and video calls. 4,663 Miles between them and the moms bonded with that whole distance.

We won’t get into New Years Eve. But it was sure as hell a whole lot better for the both of us...if you catch my drift.

ANYWAYS, 2024 and it’s time for things to come to an end.

Closing the Chapter: Farewell, Karen

The air was thick with a sense of something happening, and well that smell that one gets as Miles entered one of the local bars, a favorite greasy spoon place that he had found some time ago, the familiar scent of spilled beer and the low hum of conversations providing a backdrop to the unfolding drama. It had been several weeks since the explosive encounter with Karen Chapman, the infamous neighbor from hell, and Miles was hoping for some peace. Little did he know, fate had a surprising encounter waiting for him.

As he waited for his late night dinner order, Miles noticed a solitary figure at the bar, nursing his third drink as was evident by the 2 other empty glasses that sat next to the gentlemen. It was Hank Chapman, Karen's long-suffering husband. Miles hesitated for a moment, debating whether to approach or not, maybe a quick rush off to the loo, but it was too late—Hank had already spotted him and gave him a quick wave over.

Hank, worn and weathered, looked like a man carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Despite his best efforts to avoid eye contact, Miles found himself drawn into conversation with the beleaguered husband.

“Hey there, Hank. How's it going?”

Hank sighed, taking a long drag from his glass, “Oh, you know, same old. Dealing with the aftermath.”

All Miles could do was nod rather uncomfortably, “I can imagine. Look, I don't want to pry, but is everything okay?”

Hank laughed almost bitterly, “Okay? No, Miles, nothing has been okay for a very long time. But you know what? Today's different.”

Intrigued, Miles pulled up a stool, sensing there was more to Hank's story than met the eye. And besides he wasn’t about to miss out on some juicy gossip about what was going on about the woman that had done nothing but detest him and Carter. Hank was a good man though, he worked hard to make sure that his family wanted for nothing. As the conversation unfolded, Hank began to share a tale of years spent in quiet misery, bound by a prenuptial agreement that kept him tethered to Karen's tumultuous world. The revelation, however, was a game-changer.

“She's been cheating on me, Miles. For over a year. I have had to deal with that bullshit for 15 years and well...I found out....actually I walked in on it, confronted her and her lover, and now it's over. I'm divorcing her.”

Miles’ eyes grew huge when he was hearing this as he was genuinely surprised, “I'm sorry to hear that, Hank. But, in a way, it sounds like you're finally free.”

Hank smiles sadly, “Free... that's exactly it. I've been stuck in this nightmare for too long. The divorce is happening, and we're selling the place. I'll be rid of her for good. Well, hopefully, not sure what the kids are going to want to do. But either way, I’m getting them out of the whole situation.”

Hank's revelation about Karen's infidelity and the impending divorce hung in the air as the two men continued their conversation at the bar. Hank had offered to buy him a round but Miles politely declined and opted for just water instead. Miles felt a mix of sympathy for Hank's ordeal and a tinge of relief that the Chapman drama might finally be reaching its conclusion.

Hank took another sip of his drink, staring into the depths of his glass. "You know, Miles, I never expected things to turn out this way. But maybe it's for the best. I can finally live my life without that constant chaos."

Miles nodded in understanding. "Sometimes, it takes a storm to clear the air. And who knows, maybe you'll find peace on the other side of all this."

Hank managed a small smile, appreciating the sentiment. "I sure hope so. But, uh, there's something else I wanted to talk to you about. It's about Keith."

Miles raised an eyebrow, suddenly more attentive. "Keith? What's going on?"

Hank hesitated for a moment, as if contemplating whether to share the information. "He's been struggling, Miles. More than I realized. All the drama with Karen and his siblings—it's hitting him hard. I'm worried about him and it feels like he may be hiding things from me. I know I haven’t been around a whole lot but-"

Concern etched across Miles' face. "I've noticed he's been going through a rough time. But...what can I do to help?"

Hank sighed, grateful for Miles' offer. "I talked to him, after that last blow up. He talked highly of you and I think he connected. I know there is something more. Keith... he's been acting out, and he’s been getting into some serious trouble at school."

Miles' expression shifted from concern to a deeper gravity. "What happened, Hank? Is there anything I can do?"

Hank took a deep breath. "I just needed someone to know. Maybe, even after the move, if he knows that you can keep an eye out for him. I'm doing my best, but I can't be in two places at once. And with all this chaos, I don't want Keith slipping through the cracks."

Miles nodded solemnly. "If he’s up for it, I’ll see what I can do, Hank." Before Hank could continue on, Miles phone came alive with a tone, “Uh, pardon me for a moment Hank...I should take this.”

And that call that would jolt him out of the bar, snatching his food on the way out and back into the unfolding complexities at Turnberry Towers.

Unwelcome Shadows

The neon glow of the Las Vegas Strip cast long, unsettling shadows as Miles rushed back to Turnberry Towers. The call from the Las Vegas Police had jolted him, leaving a sinking feeling in his gut. The night air, usually filled with the distant sounds of the city's revelry, now seemed eerily silent.

As Miles approached the Towers, he could see the flashing lights of police vehicles and ambulances, a stark contrast to the usual serene atmosphere. He parked his car hastily not even caring if it was illegal or not, heart pounding, and rushed towards the scene.

Anne Thompson, the President of the Towers Association, stood near the entrance, her expression a mix of concern and frustration. Miles hurried over, his mind racing with worry for Carter.

"Miles," Anne's voice carried a tension that matched the atmosphere.

“Anne, where is- is he-?”
"He’s ok, Miles. I got there just after everything happened. He’s over there speaking with the police right now."

She would point ahead as Miles caught a glimpse of Carter with a blanket over his shoulders, speaking with the few officers, his face dirty, sweaty and in Miles’ eye he looked scared. Miles pushed through the crowd, calling out Carter’s name, the uniformed police officers stopped Miles at first. Mrs. Thompson told them who he was and they let him through. There, on one of the concrete barriers, sat Carter, looking visibly shaken.

But the minute the young man saw Miles coming towards him, he stood up and was engulfed in Miles’ arms. The police gave them both a moment as Miles helped Carter sit again and Miles dropped to his knees beside him, a mix of relief and concern flooding through him. "Love, are you okay? What happened?"

Carter managed a weak smile, his eyes reflecting the ordeal he'd just been through. "I'm okay. Just... I was getting home and next thing I knew some guy tried to jump me. I managed to fight them off."

"What were they after?" Miles asked, his gaze shifting from Carter to Anne, who had joined them.

Anne sighed, her frustration evident. "We're not sure. It looked like a random attack. But we're working with the police to review security footage."

And as if on cue the police, along with the head of security make their way over to them with an iPad in hand. “Mrs. Thompson, we have something that you may wanna see.”

She excused herself from Miles and Carter to see what they had needed. Miles watched for a moment before his attention returned to Carter, who was now being examined by paramedics. The adrenaline that had fueled his fight had given way to a palpable exhaustion.

"You did good, love," Miles said, his voice a quiet reassurance, wrapping his arm around pulling him close and placing a kiss on top of his head, "I'm just glad you're okay."

Carter managed a wry smile, "Yeah, well, they didn't know who they were messing with."

As the paramedics finished their assessment and assured Miles that Carter would be physically fine but to take it easy for a day or so just to be on the safe side. After a few moments, the police along with security and Mrs. Thompson walked back over. “Carter, I know you are still shaken up but is it possible that you could look at something and perhaps confirm what I think we are seeing. I know it may be difficult but...”

“Just show me.” Carter let out holding out his hand, as they turned the iPad over to him and he and Miles watched what happened together. The first shot shows Carter pulling into the garage in his bug, we see two figures, one the male figure already hooded up and he’s looking and seeing where the second figure is pointing. The second figure is a lot shorter, and doesn’t even bother to cover their head. Medium-short hair, blonde. The ire of Miles raised quickly.

“I know that head of hair anywhere.”

And just then that person turns and the camera catches her face in Black and White HD.

They had nothing to lose, nothing to gain and the mastermind behind a vicious attack, and if Miles were a betting man, he would label the guess as to who was their co-conspirator.

“Stanley to all, putting a B.O.L. for a female, 40 years old, estimated height of 5’ 3”, 165 pounds blonde medium-short hair and goes by the name of Karen Chapman. Arrest on site.”

Old Opponent, New Twist

The scene opens in Miles Kasey's living room. Miles is seated on a comfortable couch, surrounded by the warm glow of dimmed lights. The SCW Internet Championship rests beside him, a testament to his recent triumphs.

He smirks, a confident gleam in his eyes. "Peter Vaughn, my old nemesis. It's been a journey and a half since the last time you and I faced off in that ring. It has been a path of growth, of learning, and most importantly, a journey of winning."

The camera zooms in, capturing the intensity in Miles' gaze.

"Back then, Peter, no matter what we have gone through, you had my number. I won't deny it. But times, as they say, have changed. Look around, Peter. Since the last time we have crossed paths, I have built a kingdom, a small one maybe but the beginning of something amazing. Between here and being invited to the Go Gym, it’s where I've honed my skills, where I've transformed into the SCW Internet Champion."

He lifts the championship belt, the gleaming metal reflecting the room's soft light.

"I'm not the same Miles you faced before. Some might say that I have evolved. And somehow, by many’s surprise, I've become a champion. And Peter, you seem to be holding on nice and tight to that Roulette Championship. BUT when we step into that ring once again, this coming Sunday, it won't be the same story.”

“You see this time, things are very different. You are no longer a stooge and the cleaner and I have seemingly started to grow-up. Maybe it’s because of everything that 2023 brought. Maybe it’s because while you were in the background, being your dominate self, I was thrown into the spotlight and suddenly a contender not only to what is now MY Internet Title but I even had shots to the very championship that J2H just relinquished and now us and the 6 other lucky saps are now battling for.”

“And not going to lie, bruv, the situation that we find ourselves in probably is one for the ages. The champion simply didn’t want to be a champion anymore but he’s not leaving, he’s just tired of being a target. Could you imagine if one of us did that? If suddenly we had no desire to be who and what we worked so damn hard for, and just give it up? What would that say about that particular division? I have never said it out loud but it cheapened the whole damn thing with a tournament and instead of the winner facing who was, it’s just handed to us.”

“So this is how I’m looking at it, I have a lot to prove against just about every man in this tournament. Minus Carter. ....and minus Austin after the hell we just put each other through. After everything I don’t see it being much of a struggle for me; it'll be a statement. A statement that Miles Kasey is no longer the underdog; he's the top dog. He is the one to beat."

The room seems to pulse with Miles' determination. He leans back, placing his free arm on the top of the couch and scratches his chin, contemplating what he wants to say next.

"I respect what we've been through, Peter. I respect the battles we've waged. But this time, I'm not just looking for a win. I'm looking for dominance. I'm looking to show the world and, more importantly, show you that I've ascended to a level you haven't seen before. In other words, mate....I plan on winning the whole fuckin’ thing."

He places the championship back beside him, the room returning to a momentary calm.

"So, SCW Roulette Champion, Peter Vaughn...brace yourself. The SCW Internet Champion is coming, not to defend his title but to make a statement, a statement that echoes through the SCW corridors. It’s been a warning that I have been giving all along. Get ready for a Miles Kasey who's not just ready for a fight; he's ready for victory. Elite 8 is where you get off on this journey, mate. I got me a bloody championship to win."

The screen fades to black, leaving the living room in a quiet anticipation.

Just Wasn’t Meant To Be
November 19th
Following Climax Control in Flagstaff, AZ

MILES!

Climax Control had been long off the air, the fans had left and some were trolling near the entry to the back of the building to get a sight and maybe even an autograph as their favorites left the building.

Miles Kasey, on this particular night had decided to move all the ring gear, shower and get dressed. He already knew Carter would wait for him before heading back to the hotel. It was only a little under a 4 hour drive back to Vegas, but what was the rush?

After the night he just had, him and SCW Bombshell Roulette Champion Alexandra Callaway, losing their match to Finn and Kayla...on top of coming face to face with Austin James Mercer...Miles just wanted to unwind but he couldn’t even get two steps out of the door to the men’s locker room before someone was already on his heels.

Miles.” the voice came a little softer this time and he knew immediately it was friend and not foe, in fact it was the very woman he just lost the main event with, “Hey, I thought I might have missed you. Look I just...I wanted to apologize for what happ-

All Miles could do was take a deep breath and cut her off at the pass before she began to ramble on, “Ally, you should know as well as I did as a seasoned veteran of the ring, that those Mixed Tag Matches can get absolutely insane and that is exactly what happened. It’s neither one of our faults and tonight Finn and Kayla were just that much better.

Yeah but, I was the one that got pinned. If it wasn’t for me-

Ally!” Miles said, frustrated with her at the moment, barks at her and catches her and even Miles off guard. He just leaves out a really long sigh and drops his head, giving it a quick scratch and trying desperately to hold on to his temper with her, “I’m sorry, I am exhausted right now and it’s been a long ass night that made me question a lot of choices I have made. Two things I know for certain, I don’t regret anything with Carter and I do not regret forming a team with you. We haven’t found that moment where we are clicking on all cylinders yet but it’s coming. But with that being said, we gotta start focusing on our own thing for a little bit. We can revisit the idea after the new year but- you saw what I’m facing now at December 2 Dismember. You also have your hands full with Bobbie.

I mean, yeah I do.” Alexandra said softly. The atmosphere in the corridor was tense, the shadows playing on the faces of both Miles and Alexandra as they exchanged words.

Look, Ally, I know you’ve got your hands full defending that SCW Roulette Title against Bobbie, and I’ve got my own battle with Austin. We’ve got to be at our best individually if we’re going to tackle these challenges. Maybe, it's just not the right time for us as a team,” Miles said, his voice carrying a mix of exhaustion and sincerity.

Alexandra, taking a moment to absorb Miles’ words, nodded. “I get it, Miles. You've got the Internet Championship on the line, and yeah, you’re correct I’ve got to deal with Bobbie, especially after everything I did to her. We both need to focus on our individual paths right now.

Miles put a hand on her shoulder, a gesture of reassurance. “It doesn’t mean we won’t team up again in the future. We just need some time to grow individually, face our own challenges. We’re both fighting for something big right now, and we can’t afford to hold each other back.

You’re right,” Alexandra admitted, a hint of disappointment in her eyes. “I guess I just thought we could be a great team, you know?

Hey! We can be and still will be, Ally. And there will be plenty of other opportunities to prove just that,” Miles replied, giving her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. “But we’ve got to let the timing and the pieces fall into place. It’s just not meant to be right now.

As Miles and Alexandra shared a quiet moment of understanding, the bustling sounds of the remaining fans and staff echoed through the corridor. They were two warriors, each on their own journey, finding solace in the camaraderie of shared battles but acknowledging the need to face their individual destinies.

Thanks for understanding, Ally. Let’s focus on what’s ahead, shake off tonight and get into the new year still and one piece and hopefully still with our titles,” Miles said, offering a tired but genuine smile.

Alexandra reciprocated the smile, appreciating the honesty and camaraderie. “Deal, Miles. We’ve both got big fights coming up, and we’ll face them head-on. Maybe down the line, we’ll give this a shot again.

Miles, sensing the need to lighten the atmosphere, grinned at Alexandra. "Hey, how about we shake off the tension and grab a late dinner? Carter's been bugging me about trying this place he found in town. What do you say? A good meal and a few drinks to wash away the frustrations of tonight? Consider it an apology for acting like such an arse just a little bit ago?"

Alexandra’s features softened, the tension of the earlier conversation dissipating. "You know what? A meal and a drink sound like just what I need right now. Lead the way."

He offers her his arm because he is a gentleman after all and she smiles as she takes it as they walk down the corridor together, the sounds of the bustling arena fading behind them, Miles feels that sense of camaraderie. In the world of professional wrestling, alliances might shift, plans might change, but the bond forged in the heat of battle remained. Tonight was a reminder that paths might diverge, but the shared journey was what made the wrestling family resilient.

As Miles, Alexandra, in the search for Carter who is waiting patiently somewhere in the building, and the promise of a late-night gathering disappeared around the corner, the corridor returned to its quiet state, ready for the next set of stories to unfold within its walls.

This Bitch Has To GO
3 Weeks Later
Las, Vegas

Three weeks had passed since the chaotic night in Flagstaff, and Miles Kasey found himself engrossed in training, using every available resource in the Turnberry Towers gym, on top of being welcomed into the GO Gym whenever he deemed fit. But on this particular night, the hum of the machines and the rhythmic clinking of weights provided a therapeutic backdrop to his focused regimen. As the SCW Internet Champion, he was well aware of the physical demands of his upcoming match against Austin James Mercer, but today, another unexpected challenge awaited him.

Amid the echoes of his exertions, Kevin Chapman, the troubled teenager from the floor above, quietly entered the room and approached Miles hesitantly. His eyes conveyed a mix of guilt and apprehension, as if carrying the weight of more than just the recent neighborhood mischief.

The sight of the young man had caught Miles’ eye almost immediately. There were rules afterall about children being allowed in the area without direct parental supervision. Miles had sat up and began to put the free-weights back where they belonged as Kevin approached him.

Well, hello there Kev.” Miles said without even looking directly at him, which caught the teenager by surprise for a moment, “Hope you’re not here to cause any problems.

"Hey, Mr. Kasey," Kevin began, struggling to find the right words. "I...I need to apologize for what me and my siblings have been doing. It's not right, and I'm sorry."

That caught Miles off. Kevin was so soft spoken, so unlike his mother and more like his father who had apologized to Miles and Carter on multiple occasions after having to deal with his wife. Miles took a seat on one of the benches and took a long look at this child. Actually, not a child, but a young man. Miles thought back quickly to all those years ago as to how he would react if he would have had a chance to approach someone like this, to take a chance to be guided in the right direction.

Maybe he wouldn’t have been such a shithead in his teenage years, making his mother worry every night. He would have turned out a little bit better. Thankfully there were people that brought his ass down to earth before it was too late.

Well, that was awfully brave of you lad and thanks. Hopefully you have apologized to more than just me.” Miles said with a bright smile.

Kevin hesitated for just a moment as he sat down on the bench across from Miles and you could feel the nervousness roll off this poor kid, he fidgeted with his hands, pulling at his fingers and looked around nervously, “Yeah, I- I started too. I had rather hoped that your boy- that...” the words got caught up in his throat for a moment, “I was hoping that Carter was here too but I’ll have to try and catch up with him without my mom around.”

Your mom doesn’t think too highly of Carter and I, you know?” Miles said without missing a beat.

That caused Kevin to smile a bit and roll his eyes, “Yeah, she doesn’t think highly of pretty much anyone that doesn’t kiss her- ANYWAYS, I was rather hoping to actually talk to you for a moment, if- if that’s alright?”

I mean sure if you want, kid. I barely know ya but what’s on your mind?” Miles said as he reached for a bottle of water and a towel.

“Well, I’ve been trying to figure things out a lot lately. My mom’s hatred towards you guys didn’t seem to make a whole lot of sense for a while.” Kevin said still fiddling with his hands, “I- I’ve been afraid to speak up to her a lot lately because she’s just so caught up in everyone’s business. What we did, we did it to get her attention but it’s like she doesn’t even care. She barely even asks us about how school is going or how we are with friend or- with other...”

Before Kevin could reveal the deeper issue, the gym door swung open with a force that announced the arrival of Karen Chapman. Her stern expression and judgmental eyes immediately fixed on Miles.

"What is this? You corrupting my son with your... your lifestyle?" Karen's tone dripped with disdain.

Miles, caught off guard by the sudden intrusion, took a moment to respond, holding up his hands, "Ms. Chapman, I don't know what you're talking about. Your son just wanted to apologize, and we were having a conversation about things, that’s all."

"Don't play dumb with me, Kasey! I know your kind. Trying to poison my family!" Karen's voice escalated, grabbing Kevin by his arm and whipping him behind her, and the noise gathered an audience among the gym-goers who paused their workouts to witness the unfolding drama.

Miles, maintaining his composure, said, "Karen, once again, there's nothing for you to worry about. Kevin was just apologizing, and we were having a conversation."

“I don’t care what you think you were having, my son is off limits to the likes of you! You have no right to even breathe in his general direction.” she hissed.

The situation escalated as Karen, undeterred, continued her verbal assault. Apparently the audience had gathered the attention of the Turnberry Towers association president, Mrs. Thompson, who had been drawn in by the commotion, intervened.

"Karen, I would like to make myself very clear, and you should know by now that we don't tolerate this kind of behavior in the towers. Please keep your voice down," Mrs. Thompson advised.

“Oh shut up Anne! I TOLD YOU that this was going to happen. The minute I saw him and his roommate-”

Boyfriend.” Miles interrupted, “Carter is my boyfriend, for the last time Karen.

“I don’t care! It is perverse! And I will not have my children subjected to-”

But Karen was relentless, ignoring Mrs. Thompson's attempt at moderation. Her words became more venomous, and she edged closer to crossing lines that should never be crossed.

“Oh my God, mom. STOP!” Kev spoke up but she turned on her heels.

“You are in enough trouble as it Kevin but if you ever speak to me like that ever again...it’s bad enough that you are acting up in school and constantly getting in to trouble, but now you are actually trying to converse these people that we have to live with that have no problem with their lifestyle. Next thing you know you will be talking to his...”boyfriend”” She let’s out with disgusted like someone pissed on her tongue, “And God knows what will happen, but I will not have you be talked into something that you are most certainly not like these f-”

Before she could utter a particularly derogatory comment, Miles, with a fiery determination, cut her off, "Enough! You don't get to talk to me or anyone like that. I've had it with your constant harassment and your self-centered rules for the entire building. Just because the entire building is on Karen Drive does not mean that you own the whole fucking property you selfish stuck up bitch! You're the problem here, not me, not Carter, not ANY of us. So help me God, you even whisper another word to me...you will not like the outcome."

The gym fell silent as Miles confronted Karen, his words echoing in the confined space.

“Right, Ms. Chapman we need to have a conversation immediately about what has transpired here.” Mrs. Thompson, now stern-faced, nodded at the security personnel nearby to address the situation. As they escorted Karen away, she continued to hurl accusations, her voice gradually fading.

Miles, still seething from the confrontation, turned back to Kevin, who seemed torn between embarrassment and relief.

"Kevin, whatever you wanted to tell me, it's okay. But we need to deal with the issues in your family, and I'm here to help if you need it," Miles reiterated, his voice carrying a mix of concern and sincerity. It was clear that he needed to understand that he was not alone.

Kevin nodded, a mix of gratitude and fear in his eyes, realizing that this incident had opened a door to addressing deeper family problems. As Mrs. Thompson led Karen away, still protesting and hurling accusations, Kevin took a deep breath.

"I... I appreciate that, Mr. Kasey. It's just... it's been hard, you know? My mom, she's so focused on herself and her rules, she doesn't even see what's happening to us," Kevin confessed, his voice barely above a whisper.

Miles, now settling back on the bench, motioned for Kevin to join him. "Look, kid, I get that families can be tough. I've had my fair share of issues, some that would make your head spin, and sometimes it takes a lot to make things right. But you've got to speak up, not just for yourself but for your siblings too."

Kevin sat down, his shoulders slumped. "I've tried, Mr. Kasey. But she doesn't listen. And now, with everything happening, I don't know what to do."

Miles put a hand on Kevin's shoulder, offering comfort. "First things first, know this, you're not alone in this. There are people who care about you and want to help. Your father, for one, and if you need, Carter and I, despite how much it may piss off your mum."

Kevin nodded, a mix of determination and fear in his eyes. The weight of responsibility was heavy on his young shoulders, but for the first time, he felt like he wasn't facing it alone.

As they continued their conversation, Mrs. Thompson returned, her expression stern at first but softened towards the boy as she notices that he is feeling low after everything, "Kevin, I think I’m going to need you to give me your father’s number. The association needs to have a serious discussion about the events that transpired. Mr. Kasey, thank you for your cooperation. We'll handle this matter appropriately."

Miles nodded, giving Kevin's shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "Remember, Kevin, you've got people in your corner. Don't hesitate to reach out."

Miles watched them leave, a mix of emotions stirring within him. He couldn't fix every problem, but if he could make a difference in one person's life, it was a step in the right direction. He looked around for a moment and took a deep breath, put the towel right up to his face and screamed into it.

This world would never fucking change, unless someone did something about it.

Later that night

After Miles had gotten back from the gym, he tried to just settle in for the night but he was just too wound up from the whole situation.

For MONTHS he has been taking it and taking it from this woman from the day he moved in shortly after new years. This on top of everything else that he had dealt with since he made his choice was beginning to wear on his nerves. If he could go back, he would do it the absolute same except maybe not take as long as he had to tell Carter how he felt and act sooner.

Other than that, between Karen and other problems outside of the towers, had begun to get to him in the worst way.

He got back into the condo, the whole situation slowly seeping its way and weighing on him more and more. He needed to get out for the night and bring Carter with him because once the association was done with that bitch, she’d probably bring her bullshit back to them and that was not going to happen anymore.

He would grab a shower, tell Carter to change, throw on something decent himself and just escape for the night. It was a decent night, they would just take the car that Carter’s father had left Miles and they would just drive a little bit out of the city.

No questions asked and no reasons given.

Just a quick escape for a little bit before Miles went off and did something he would ultimately regret.

And as the night wore on, you could see him calm down and finally Carter would ask.

Not that I’m complaining about the spontaneity of the night but let me ask you what brought it on?” Carter situated himself next to Miles who was leaning on the front end of the car and was just looking up, “I noticed we didn’t exactly take the normal route when we left home.

The word ‘home’ brought a smile to Miles' face. It was home, their home.

You won't believe what happened tonight," Miles began, the tension from the encounter still evident in his voice. "Kevin, you know, the kid from upstairs, came to apologize for the bullshit that he and his brother and sister had been up to. But then his mom barges in, accusing me of corrupting her son, insulting us, and just being her usual toxic self."

Miles paused, taking a moment to collect his thoughts before sharing the part that affected him more deeply, "The thing is, this isn't just about Karen being her usual awful self. Kevin opened up, said his mom's so caught up in her own self and making everyone’s existence hell, she doesn't even see what's happening to them. It's messed up, really messed up."

Carter, sensing the gravity of the situation, placed his hand in Miles, offering silent support. Miles continued, "I told him he's not alone, that we're here for him, you know? But damn, Carter, it's just... it's hard to see a kid dealing with that, feeling helpless in his own home. Kinda brought back memories of having to deal with my old man. I was a little younger than Kevin...his da is doing everything to keep the family together while his mother does everything to tear it apart."

Carter nodded, understanding the weight of Miles' words. "We'll do what we can to help. If that’s what you are thinking. Sometimes, just being there makes a difference.

Miles just smirks and continues to look up, “I just thought about what I would have been like if I had that kind of support when I was a kid, after my da left our mum high and dry like that. I wouldn’t have done some of the shitty things that I did. I’m a lucky one, I grew up, I got myself out of that without having to sacrifice mum or Bri like my da tried to do to all of us. I wasn’t about to let them get sucked in.

Carter looks at him, “How bad was it?

Miles stays silent for a moment, trying to contemplate how he really wanted to talk about that past in Manchester that could easily destroy that squeaky clean image, “It was anything to make sure that my family survived. I can’t say that people didn’t get hurt or things were destroyed, but I wasn’t given a choice. I had no time to come to grips with what I was doing or how it made me feel. I wasn’t allowed to have a normal childhood. I think that’s why I work as hard as I do now.

What do you mean?

From the moment I got out of Manchester, through the Russow’s school, all the way through Wolfslair to now, I didn’t want to waste a moment or a chance. I took everything I could from all of it that I could to make sure that life in general for everyone from mum to Bri...to you would never want to let you guys down. In a way, I’m still searching for that ultimate approval from the gang at Wolfslair.” Miles laughed because for the first time he actually is talking about this, “As hard as I worked it just never seems like good enough for certain people and I’ve spent many nights wondering why the whole thing began to begin with. Sometimes I wonder if I should have just given in to whatever the hell Austin wants, but that’s what I got away from in Manchester. Being forced to do so that I can live and I don’t want that anymore. I am free, I am happy and I am where I am meant to be. I never want you to doubt that, love.

It was like he knew what Carter was going to say and he looked up at Miles after that last statement almost in surprise.

You look surprised that I would say that?

A little bit. I mean, we’ve been through a lot, now we’re planning this big Christmas with our families. It’s just sometimes it feels like you gave up so much just for me.” Carter says so softly that it’s almost a whisper, “It’s good to hear it though.

Hey, I’m beyond excited to see how my clan gets along with yours. I’m a little nervous though, not going to lie.” Miles says shifting and wrapping his arm around Carter.

ME TOO! What if they clash? What if none of them get along?

We’ll sell tickets, find some carrier to film and make millions?” Miles jokes and Carter laughs with a little shove, “I’m sure grams can take on my brother-in-law.

Oh that I have no doubt, but your mom and mine? That could be the fight for the ages. I’m not sure if Vegas would be big enough for the both of them.

Miles laughed at the mental image, "Well, at least we'll have a lively Christmas.

Putting It All Out There

Miles Kasey, seated in the dimly lit room, stares intently at the SCW Internet Championship belt on the table before him. The room echoes with a focused silence, broken only by the distant sounds of the bustling arena outside. Miles runs his fingers over the championship, feeling the weight of the gold and the journey it represents.

"You know, Austin, you're right about one thing. Honor might be dead for you, but it's alive and well in this very title," Miles mutters, a steely determination in his eyes.

He leans back, reminiscing about the battles that led him to this moment, the sacrifices, the injuries. A small smirk plays on his lips.

"Austin, just a little while ago you talked about me stealing your time, motivation, and knowledge. But what you fail to see is that every second, every bruise, every lesson learned in that ring is earned. It's not stolen; it's claimed through hard work, through proving that I belong right here."

Miles clenches his fist, channeling the frustration into focus.

"I have spent more time growing more in any ring than you'll ever understand. From the time that I left Manchester, through my time with Russow all the way up to the time I spent in Wolfslair and even at Go, I have not stopped for one fucking second. The Internet Championship isn't just another belt; it's a symbol of my journey. And, Austin, if you think for a second that I'm going to let you tarnish that with your self-righteous notions, and about how you are just so much better than me....well bruv, you're dead wrong."

The realization hits Miles that it's not just about defending the title; it's about standing up for himself against someone who thinks they can dictate his growth.

"You want to make me who I need to be? You think I haven't evolved? Austin, I've faced setbacks, cracked ribs, concussions, but every time I stepped back into this ring, it was a step forward. I don't need Wolfslair to define me. I REFUSE to be a puppet, and you're not pulling my strings any longer. But it seems like everything that I have done SINCE I became a member of Wolfslair, after Alex Jones supposedly “reluctantly” opened those doors to me, I had until as recently as the beginning of this year when you decided to pull your head out of your arse and graced the rest of us with your presence, has meant jack fuckin’ shit to the lot of you."

This whole mantra of you and Finn and whomever the fuck else, coming out of the woodwork trying to take my arse through the proverbial shed doesn’t seem to get it through your fucking skull. I don’t mind that practically everyone seemingly wants my head on a silver platter. There is NO ONE in SCW that remotely beats themselves up more over the ‘should-a, could-a, would-a’ than me. I could have been the SCW World Champion, I could have been multi-time Roulette Champion, hell Alexandra and I could have dethroned Finn and Kayla but it didn’t happen. Things happen for a reason. I defeated Calvin when it was right. I somehow managed to survive Eddie and Braddock because it was right. And you answering the call...it was right. For ALL of 2023, we have been doing this song and dance across all these months and it’s going to end HERE.

I have been called many things, I have been called a thief, I have been called a pirate, I have been called a wolf, I’ve been given the title of ‘The Manchester Corsair’...hell you can even call me a fuckin’ pussy if you want for leaving New York for Las Vegas and not looking back, but I am fucking over the constant disrespect that I have gotten from you. You want to see how far I am willing to go? Because everything I have done hasn’t been enough? Dragging myself from the very edge of abyss wasn’t good enough? Well...

Miles stands up, the championship slinging over his shoulder, a fire in his eyes.

Heard a quota once: “A river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.” When I cut through that rock - and I will...I’m going to split the Earth in half. Despite what you have all been saying all along, I have changed, grown and adapted. And through it all, I am still that same shithead that came from the streets of Manchester that would do anything to survive. I did it all, while carrying the name of Wolfslair on my back and there isn’t a single male on the roster that can say that. And if after I beat you, it still doesn’t get through that thick fuckin’ skull of yours that this has been my way of life for years...after I take your fucking head off and send it back to Wolfslair in New York, special delivery with a note that states that if this isn’t good enough for everyone, I will gladly hand in my secret decoder ring for Wolfslair and move on.

"At December 2 Dismember, every fucking thing that you guys have been pushing and pushing me on....you are going to wish that you hadn’t shoved me so hard. I have taken out every glass ceiling on my own terms and I won't let you Austin, or anyone else dictate my journey. I am the Internet Champion, and I'll be damned if I let anyone tarnish what I have earned. Austin, your time of bullying and manipulation ends with this match. I'm not just fighting for this title; I am not just fighting for my very livelihood; I'm fighting for the respect that I've earned and the growth that's rightfully mine."

I’m done with professionalism. I’m over none of you actually paying a lick of fucking attention and conventantly forgetting that I existed until it mattered to them. It’s time to KILL. Wolfslair wants to see how much blood I am willing to lose? When everything is on the line?

He holds it up close to his face and with a wink.

Buckets, bruv. One for every time you have taken my words lightly and mistaken it as a kindness. I warned you once. Don’t blink, because you may miss your lesson above it all. That you have no idea who the fuck you think I am.

With a final glance at the championship, Miles leaves the room, ready to face whatever awaits him beyond.

A Home Transformed

So if anyone wonders how long of a trip it is from Las Vegas to Reno and back? Provided you have no stops, the answer is almost 8 hours.

In the case of this particular day, as the renovations to the condo continued and at this point felt like it was never going to come to an end, Carter BEGGED Miles to drive to Reno. The reasons are not even really clear and honestly it could have, more than likely, been shipped cheaper for the price that it would have cost wasting the fuel. Even if Carter insisted that it couldn’t.

The day in itself was a 12 hour affair and at least he was able to stop at one of his favourite places in Reno in the process. He even found a couple of Christmas presents while he was there. Made it worth it on both counts.

It was weird, he hadn’t made a trip like this by himself for a long time, so the time was filled with phone calls with his mum and sister, confirming that in little over a month, that they would be there for Christmas.

This year seemed like the year of firsts.

Miles had returned home after a long day, expecting to find their condo as it was when he left it. However, when he opens the door, he's greeted by a completely transformed living space. The once familiar surroundings are now different, almost unrecognizable.

Miles even double checked himself after crossing the threshold because what used to be bare white walls, wooden floors (that was a big selling point for Miles when he bought the place) and minimal lighting was now a warm feeling. Between the lighting changes, the new color on the walls, some artwork that they had both been looking at and even a stylish colourful rug outlined the entryway and drew him in the rest of the way.

Babe?” Miles had called out as he made his way down the hall and into the living room area.

There he found Carter, with a mischievous grin, standing in the middle of the room. "Surprise!" he exclaims, reveling in the shock on Miles' face.

Confused and amazed, Miles looks around. ALL of the walls had a fresh coat of paint, the furniture, besides the one recliner that Miles insisted on keeping, had all been replaced along with stools along the counter that cut off the kitchen from the rest of the area, and there are subtle touches of decor that reflect both of their personalities.

You- You’ve been busy, I see?” Miles said still getting used to their home’s new look. He stepped back and had seen the one room that was designated the gaming area even redone, “Really busy.

Carter, with a playful glint in his eye, “I know and I’m sorry, I felt like I needed to surprise you. We started the moment you left this morning.” he explains that he spent the entire day working with a team of renovators to give their home a new look. He orchestrated the whole operation to keep Miles out of the house, and, judging by Miles' reaction, the surprise was a success.

I know you said that you really wanted to help when it came time to put it all together but...I don’t know, you did so much for me and mom and grams when my dad died that I really wanted to give you SOMETHING and well I figured that this would be perfect.

As Miles takes in the changes, Carter shares the thought process behind each modification. The living room has been opened up to create a more spacious feel, and the colors were chosen to create a calming atmosphere. Carter even managed to incorporate some wrestling memorabilia into the decor, showcasing both of their achievements in a tasteful way. Including their ‘Couple of the Year’ award that somehow managed to be the centerpiece of the whole spot.

You know, I’m not even mad for the 12 hour wild goose chase you set me on. This is spectacular, love.” Miles said as he turns towards the master bedroom and stops, and smirks, “Is that-?

Carter settles next to him with that same smirk, “That bedroom set that you really liked that I found and fell in love with?

Miles can’t help but find himself seriously impressed and wraps him up in his arms and places a kiss on his boyfriend’s forehead, “I swear, if you got the closet rearranged too...

Carter clicks his tongue and shakes his head, “
Ran out of time unfortunately.

Well damn, I guess I still have some work to do after all.” Miles keeps looking around before a scent catches his attention, “And that glorious smell?

Zeppola’s.” Carter says as he points over to the new dinner table and chairs with dinner waiting for them.

Ooo, Italian is a nice touch. Look at you thinking of everything.” Miles smiles.

“It happens every now and again. So you really like it?”

Amidst the astonishment, Miles can't help but appreciate the effort Carter put into making their home a more comfortable and personalized space. The kitchen table is set for dinner, complete with Miles' favorite dishes from the restaurant.

Feels like home even more now.” Miles pulls out a seat for Carter, “Let’s eat.

Reflections

Miles finds himself in a rare moment of quiet amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It's a lazy Tuesday afternoon, the sun casting a warm glow across the living room of their newly renovated condo. Carter is out running some errands, leaving Miles alone with his thoughts.

Miles, with the SCW Internet Title proudly displayed on the shelf, reflects on his journey. He recalls the challenges, the victories, and the sacrifices that led him to this moment. As he looks at the championship, he thinks about what it represents to him—more than just a title, it's a symbol of growth, determination, and the unwavering support he has from those who believe in him.

The atmosphere is serene, with a gentle breeze coming through the open window. Miles decides to revisit his old wrestling journal in some of the boxes that he had brought with him on the last trip from New York, flipping through the pages that document his early struggles, dreams, and the goals he set for himself. The journal is a testament to how far he's come.

In this introspective moment, Miles thinks about the responsibility that comes with being a champion. It's not just about defending the title in the ring; it's about being a role model, inspiring others to pursue their dreams, and carrying the weight of expectations. He contemplates the balance between his personal life, his responsibilities as a champion, and the relationships he values.

As he flips through the journal, he stumbles upon a passage he wrote long ago about the kind of champion he aspires to be. His chicken scratch faded after years upon years of just sitting on the page.

He recently took to doing things more digitally but he felt a yearning to add to it. He walks into the area that has been dubbed the ‘Entertainment’ area and opens a draw up, taking a pen and finds a seat on the recliner. He decides that he is going to add a new entry, acknowledging the growth he's experienced and the lessons he's learned. But in typical fashion of anything Miles does, he does it in his own fashion.

I’m not the kind of guy that gives a shit about statistics. I don’t keep track of how many days I have been the SCW Internet Champion or how many days I was Roulette Champion because we have guys that work in the office that I’ve never met that keeps track of that kind of thing. And if they don’t we have Mercedes Vargas to do it for us, which no one trusts because there are times she’s lucky to count to 20 with her shoes on.

In fact I don’t give a rat's ass about the chances of Ally and I even winning the SCW Mixed Tag Titles because well like Han Solo, I never want to know the odds. I would rather stick my head in a blender and hit frappe to knock my brain cells looser than they already are!

With that being said, coming out of High Stakes with my Internet Championship reign still intact feels like this accomplishment that a lot of people thought wasn’t even possible a year ago. And you know what, they would have been right. ‘Never Stop Learning’ was something that was drilled into my head from the moment I began training years ago. From the time I did stupid shit with Mack back home, from the time I crossed the pond and began training with the Russows’, especially to that time I was welcomed in to Wolfslair by Alex Jones and even the little time I spend sparing with Fenris and the crew at the Go Gym, I have never stopped picking things up as I go along.

I can feel Finn Whelan, the man that helped out a poor sap a little over a year ago, get the fuck out of a rough spot and shove my ass into focusing and growing, breathing down my neck. But it’s gotten to a point where it feels more like a gentle breeze, rather than a gust from an incoming storm. I used to get a tingle of unwilling dread facing people like Finn and eventually the inevitable happened. I would get my ass kicked, come out with a black eye, busted up ribs and was told to take my ass back to the drawing board.

And throw Kayla into the mix as his partner....you know, if anyone would have told me back at High Stakes that they didn’t think those two were gonna NOT become the SCW Mixed Tag Champs, I would have gladly taken that sucker's bet. But the whole ass locked room knows what a duo those two are. Whether they are at each other’s throats, bitching at one another or burying the hatchet that Kayla wanted to place firmly between my eyes back when we were all under the same roof, and pulling off one of the best wins for not only the number one contenders match but the championship match, those two have a real honest chance of ruling the Mixed Tag Division with a Iron Fist around everyone’s throats.

But when it comes to Alexandra and I, we may have only teamed up just a handful of times, but there is something special there. A mutual respect for what the other can do. I know Ally is going to be out there attempting to play ‘Who’s the bigger bitch’ between her and Kayla, and I hope like hell she doesn’t forget that Kayla is about as sly as they come and will slice her throat without even thinking twice.

As far as Finn and I go? That is a whole other beast. I know Finn is out for retribution, especially after what I did following the whole King for a Day match that Austin set him on against me. I know he’s probably out to stomp my head into the mat for just doing business. But he’s going to find out real quick that this is not about just him and I. This is not about the Internet Championship. This is about those titles that have now put a direct label on him as a the Mixed Tag Champion and I’m not above putting the moves bar a whole lot higher than before.

Win, lose or draw. Whatever the table says....don’t count Ally and I out. Not until we say to.

How Do You Say Goodbye?
Seattle, WA

Nothing can ever prepare you for this.

No matter how much you try, you hope against hope, the inevitable happens.

Carter seemed to be at a loss as to what to do next, so Miles went into action. First was booking the red-eye from Vegas to Seattle and if nothing was available, he would drive the 17 hours himself to get him there to be there with his mother and grandmother.

Thankfully they were able to get onto a flight in just 4 hours.

Next up with Ms. Thang.

There were no 24/7 boardings for pets around, so he did the next best thing.

Banging on the Baltasarsson’s door at 1am with the cat in a carrier, pissed off but at this point the prissy little shit was just gonna have to forgive him. He’d make it up to her later for sure. Aron opened the door and at that point he could have easily passed for Kristjan with how pissed he was. That subsided the minute he saw a hint of panic on Miles face and the cat carrier in his hand Aron immediately knew what was going on and took her and shoved Miles back out the door to keep him focused on what needed to be done.

By sunrise Saturday morning, they were at Carter’s mom’s doorstep. Shocked but relieved that they were there.

“We would have picked you boys up at the airport,” Joan said as she hugged the both of them.

I told him you would but he insisted on renting a car so as to not wake either of you up.” Carter pointed to Miles as he had carried their bags the rest of the way in, they were unusually heavy but when you are packing in a blur and make sure you have enough for whatever was going to happen in their week there, even though they were certain that there was plenty of shopping to be done for something forgotten or just not right.

“And after I get these into your room, I plan on making sure there will be breakfast. Whether it’s cooking it or ordering it, I’ll leave that up to you all.” Miles said before lugging everything up and over his broad shoulders and heading directly into the room that he already spent some time in, the Stitch inspired room that still brings a smile to his face. He would carefully place everything down with a reminder to unpack it all later. He’d make it back into the living room to find a scene that almost broke his heart. It was personal at that moment, so he slipped into the kitchen, poured a couple of cups of coffee emptying the pot and immediately began another. He was going to be at their beck and call, after how Carter’s mother and grams welcomed him months ago during Christmas.

They deserved to be spoiled.

Starting with breakfast and going from there. He wasn’t about to let them worry about another thing that he himself couldn’t handle.

The week for the most part went about as good as it could. He made sure that Carter’s family had everything they could possibly need, being there.as much as he could for all of them and they would insist that he would have time to escape. In fact after a bit mom and grams would force them both out the door.

Carter wasn’t one for running and the weather in Seattle through the week had resembled that of Miles hometown.

Truth be told, Miles would take him a mile or so down the road, let him go into the closest coffee shop, tell him to give him a half hour, but order and sit in silence before he kissed him and took off. He knew Carter would need that alone time too.

With music blaring in his headphones that he brought with him, Miles would put in a bud and just run. It would help him clear his head for a little while, trying not to go back to the conversation that he and Cillian had just a couple weeks prior before his untimely death.

‘I wanted to make sure that you were truly serious about taking care of my son.’

Well Cillian, here’s hoping you have your answer.

You’ll Have to Excuse Me
Seattle, WA

Finally a dry night in the Emerald City as we focus on Miles Kasey, his eyes filled with a steely determination, with the SCW Internet Championship by him. Now we know why the bag was so heavy. He was kicked back on the back porch, seemingly enjoying another quiet moment.

Eddie, you’ll have to forgive me because I misspoke. YES, I do remember my short lived time in PWE. You'll also have to excuse me because I've been hit in the head one too many times." he taps on his head, like it’s a little empty with a smirk.

"And you know what's funny I still carry around that Leo medallion. It actually got sewn into my bag that I take with me to every show. I use it as a symbol to remind me of a time where I finally was starting to come into my own." he tilts his head and looks up at the night sky, "I wasn't supposed to be the guy to come in out of nowhere and pin you to the mat, but here we are. So if you're going to still hold a grudge eight months later then who am I to tell you differently?"

"But that was then, and this is now. You say you've leveled up, and I believe you. But I have some massive news for you, bruv. So. Have. I.

Miles shifted for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts carefully.

"You want to make this honorable, Eddie, and I respect that. I respect your dedication to the fight and your desire to face me head-on. But remember, honor doesn't win championships. Skill, determination, and heart do. I won't underestimate you, Eddie, not for a second. I know the fire you bring, the spirit of The Lyons Den. I faced Cleo, I faced Alexander, and now, I'll face you, again."

He leans forward.

Only difference between February and now?? I have myself the SCW Internet Championship and you have a win streak that is impressive. I have had my ass beaten for no less than being the most improved star in SCW last year and because people are scared of what I can do without so much as a second thought.

He laughs because this next thought is just funny to him. He hasn’t been granted the time to even concern himself about things beyond High Stakes.

I’m not even concerned about Finn because I rather focus on someone who is an honest to goodness challenger like you and even like BRADDOCK. And honestly, neither should you! You have real threats right here to even get you whatever may be beyond Las Vegas. You should be really worried about me and even in a way, you should be concerned about Braddock. Mind you he has thrown himself around and found himself in a situation with a whole lot to prove as to why he is even involved in our match at High Stakes. It should be you and I. You beat him and you beat Carter. You have earned this shot. But it’s never that simple. Be in the NOW and not the then because there is absolutely no guarantee that you will even get there.

Miles has to calm himself because he is just so sick and fucking tired of people looking past him like he hasn’t kicked his own ass to even get to this moment.

"You talk about honor, Eddie, and that's something I understand deeply. I've fought for every opportunity, every victory, and every title I've earned. I didn't get here by taking shortcuts or relying on luck. I got here by putting in the work, by facing challenges head-on, and by refusing to back down. And I won't back down now, not from you, not from Braddock, not from anyone."

Miles stares ahead, those blue-green eyes actually somewhat gray at the moment in the light, giving it a steely gaze than the usual playful Milo.

As for Lyons Den, I remember them fondly. I remember Cleo kicking my ass back in Apex. I also remember giving her a shit ton of respect following that match because she brought it all. But Lyons Den has changed, hasn’t it? Seems like we have something in common, both pawns in the games that they are trying to create. And I hope, I really hope that you are serious about keeping this on the level because mate, there is nothing I wouldn’t love more than to kick your ass once again.

Miles holds up his hands with a smirk.

Respectively, of course.

Miles reaches over and pulls the title into his lap, looking down on it, “I have this championship, a symbol of my hard work and dedication. I'm not just fighting for myself; I'm fighting for everyone who believes in me, for everyone who has supported me on this journey. And I won't let them down."

Miles took a deep breath, his voice resonating with confidence.

"Braddock, Eddie, whoever stands in my way, they'll have to face the undeniable truth. I'm not just a champion; I'm a fighter. I've faced adversity before, and I've overcome it. High Stakes won't be any different. You guys, you want to make a mark? You want to prove your worth? Well, bring your honor, your passion, and your best game. Because I'll be there, standing tall, ready to prove why I am the SCW Internet Champion."

Lay Your Head On My Shoulder

It had been a long week, and the longest of it was this day.

The funeral had been interesting to put it mildly and after everything he needed to pull Carter away from the madness and the daggers from his dad’s side of the family.

Now, as the attendees gradually dispersed, Miles guided Carter away from the crowd, his hand a reassuring presence on his shoulder.

They found themselves on a quiet hill overlooking the cemetery, a place where the world seemed to fade away. Miles spread out a blanket, and they both sat down, their silence echoing the unspoken words between them.

Carter stared ahead, his eyes fixed on the horizon, yet seeing nothing. His grief was a heavy burden, and he felt like he might crumble under its weight. Miles, sensing his pain, wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close. Carter leaned into the embrace, seeking solace in Miles' warmth.

"I miss him, Miles," Carter's voice cracked, his words heavy with sorrow. "I can't believe he's gone."

Miles tightened his hold on Carter, his own heart aching for the man he loved. "I know, babe," he whispered, his voice gentle. "Even though I lost my da all those years ago, I can't even imagine what you're going through. But remember, you're not alone. I'm here, and I'll always be here for you, no matter what."

Carter nodded, his tears finally flowing freely. He buried his face in Miles' shoulder, allowing himself to grieve, to let out the pain that had been building inside him. Miles held him, his fingers gently running through Carter's hair, offering silent comfort.

They stayed like that for a long time, the world around them fading into the background. In that moment, all that mattered was the two of them, their love a beacon of light in the darkness of grief.

I will say that letter he wrote was amazing and beautiful. Made me kind of jealous for a moment. Lyle Kasey would have never done that even when he was sober,” Miles laughed in spite of himself, “And I’m glad that you were able to make amends, because I don’t want what I go through on the daily when it comes to my old man...well I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

I wish you had the chance to really get to know him, hell even really meet him.” Carter said, “I really think that you would have found him a whole lot better than the things I told you about.

Miles smiled because Carter didn’t know about the visit that he had had with his dad a couple weeks ago, “Yeah, about that.” Carter looked up, “He sorta paid a visit before he left Vegas.

Carter sputters for a moment, “What?

Miles looked a little uncomfortable for a moment, “Look, I- I didn’t know how to bring it up. But when he came to Vegas to meet with you, he requested to meet me as well. I guess part of me was honestly curious, and it was a lot of ‘I just wanna make sure’ talk between him and I.

And you’re just telling me this now? MILES! That’s serious!” Carter glared at him.

Miles sighs, “I KNOW! I know I promised no secrets between us but I just didn’t know how to bring it up.

‘Hey Carter, your dad and I met.’” Carter blurted out, “Wait...Where did he meet you?

At the condo.

Carter cringes, “He saw that mess? Oh my god, that’s a wonderful picture.

Told him it was nothing, that he should have seen my closet.” Miles laughed leaning in closely to kiss Carter on the cheek, “Thankfully we have no skeletons in there.

You are- I cannot believe you.

Miles leaned back with a smile, “I think he was half expecting me to make sure it was ok for us to get married one day.

Carter’s eyes grow huge, “Did- did you...

Miles leans in, “Of course not, I know better and that question will go to your mother because she’d kill me if I didn’t!

Can we not do the death talk thing here!

Why not? We are in a cemetery.

He Wants to Meet Me?
Las Vegas, NV

There is something to be said when a family does everything they can to reconnect. Joan’s visit seemingly did a whole lot of good to Carter, despite how much he found himself hurting with the news of his father’s situation, it ended up with him agreeing to meet up with his dad for the first time in a long time.

While it took some convincing and a bit of trickery on his part in the promise that he’d meet up with Cillian Macguire along with Carter, Miles decided that father and son needed to meet one on one. Carter was rather...peeved at him when Carter left to meet up with his dad but seeming all was forgiven when Carter returned in a mood that was practically 180 switch from when he left.

That was hopeful.

And made Miles feel less nervous about what was coming up the day after.

A text message from Carter’s mom, Joanna, had said that during his visit to Vegas to meet with Carter, if all went well - which it did - there was a slight hope from Cillian that he could possibly meet Miles as well.

He was rather tempted to kill two birds with one stone when Carter met up with his dad the day before, but he knew if the roles were reversed, he would want the same situation for Miles.

...not that it would ever happen considering that Lyle Kasey has been worm food for just around 18 years. And not that Miles would ever give that piece of shit the time of day after the way he treated not only him, but his mum and sister. He let their family suffer before he shuffled loose the mortal coil at the end of a bottle, a needle and the business end of a car.

In a way, Miles was partially jealous that Carter could have this chance with his dad. In other ways, Miles was really glad this would never be him unless some wild miracle would happen and even then the thought of running Lyle over with his Rubicon...well lets just say the thought crossed his mind a few dozen times.

Not for him, but for his mother and sister because they did not need to relive that hell ever again.

But back to the message from Joanna, that Cillian wanted to meet him as well: Considering the things he had heard about this man were through Carter and no one else, the opinion was rather low but knowing what was happening now, the failure and the inevitable outcome, he had set what he wanted to be hostility aside for a man that simply just wanted to mend the bonds between the man that Miles loved and cared for more than anything in this world and the man that helped raised him but foolishly gave it up for his own selfish pride.

Pride is what got Cillian into this. Miles’ pride wasn’t nearly as boastful as some would think to not grant a dying man a chance to continue to make peace. But he needed to wait until Carter was able to speak with his father first before he would send the message shortly after his return, to give the approval or denial.

And he agreed, the next day, an early afternoon Miles opened his door to Cillian and welcomed him inside their home and was currently in the middle of giving him the 10 cent tour.

“Aren't you concerned Carter will walk in and see me here?”

Your son went shopping. We'll be lucky if we see him within the next week.

It was seemingly a light feeling between the two gentlemen as Miles ushered them into the open living room of the home of Miles and Carter, it’s in disarray for a while but it just got to a point where it looked more lived in.

You’ll have to excuse the mess. I let my mouth get ahead of my brain several weeks ago and told Carter that he had open reign to give the whole place a makeover with a few exceptions.” Miles let out a little laugh, “This of course has led to magazines, pictures printed out and those awkward paint strips practically everywhere.

“That’s alright, he gets it from his mother. Joanna was the exact same way when we moved into our first home, after a while though she just gave in and let her mother make the final choices because she was just so indecisive.” Cillian said, looking around and seemingly rather impressed, “I’m just glad you invited me here and I get a chance to see where my son is living and meet the man that my son has fallen head over heels for.”

I’m sure there are a million questions that you have for me.” Miles stated, looking rather uncomfortable as they took a seat in the living room. Miles had offered the recliner that he usually sat in to Carter’s father while he took his place on the couch not that far off.

“On the contrary, Carter answered quite a few of those for me and gave me the impression that well, after everything-”

Mr. Macguire-

“Please, Mr. Kasey, call me Cillian.”

Then you can call me Miles.” Miles smirked, “E’ery time I hear ‘Mr. Kasey’ I think of my old man, and believe me, I rather I didn’t. Not that I’m not thankful that he didn’t help bring me into the world but it was the mess he left behind that made me realize from a rather young age that I would never sell myself or my family up the river and leave them without a pot to piss in.

“I get that one and it’s nice to hear, honestly.”

Miles stops him, “If you start prattling on about responsibility, I’ll show you the walk-in closet on my side and it’ll change your mind in a heartbeat.

“No, but it means that you actually care about your wellbeing and Carter’s as well."

"Well we are in a relationship and love one another." Miles said with absolute certainty, "It was something that even I had to get used to. I have friends that occasionally gave a shit, some that even put roofs over my head but not someone like him. It still amazes me to this day how he will always put everyone else's feelings before his own."

"What do you mean?" Cillian asked with a curious tone.

"Well, despite how it looks now, I definitely rode the proverbial struggle bus for the majority of my life, spent a lot of time trying to take care of my mum and sis in the only ways I ever knew. It was a whole lot of surviving so for me and the majority of the time it was on my own with some luck on my side.” Miles looks around, “So when I look at your son, I see someone that is selfless, to a fault but he’s perhaps one of the strongest people I have ever met. Which maybe you can understand why I had a little bit of a trepidation about wanting to meet while you were here.

Cillian swallows hard, “Ah, you are thinking that there is a hidden agenda for the months of reaching out to Carter.”

Call it pessimistic and being burned one too many times.” Miles shrugs, “Also it’s part of the protective streak I have with him that I just can’t seem to help myself. I worry

“That and the general distrust of the father figures that you have dealt with in your life, I’m sure.”

That too.

“I can really tell that your feelings for Carter are for absolute real and....well, I lost a lot of time with Carter because of my own stubborn pride, time that I have no chance of getting back. I’m not about to give him reasons to not trust me.” Cillian said, setting forward leaning on his knees to look Miles right in the eyes, “I’ve also just wanted to meet you for a pretty simple reason.”

Yeah? And what is that?

“I wanted to make sure that you were truly serious about taking care of my son. You said it yourself, he is strong, selfless but he’s also been hurt. Mostly by me. I wanted to make sure that...” Cillian’s emotions seemingly catch up with him, which throws Miles off a little bit. He wanted to be such a hardass towards this man but just didn’t have the heart. Cillian swiped at his eyes, pushing the tears away, “I’m sorry, this is twice in the last couple of days that this has happened.”

Miles blinked a few times, unsure of what to say. The man had all but accepted that his fate was the inevitable end that we all would face. Carter’s dad wasn’t there to interrogate him but just to make sure that he would be willing to take care of his son when he was gone.

This was actually a good man and deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Miles would stand up from his seat and head into the kitchen for a moment and when he returned he offered Cillian a bottle of water as he sat down a little closer and opened up his own bottle. Miles would smirk at the older gentleman, “Usually, I would offer a beer but figured this was a little better for the both of us.” Cillian would take the bottle, with a look of confusion, “I want to make you a promise. No matter what happens, you will have nothing to worry about when it comes to Carter when it comes to me. I promise you, with me, he is safe and will remain that way for as long as possible.

Cillian smiles gently, “Well, at least that much is settled.” he looks out the window, “Can you guys see that sphere from here?”

Oh, there is a reason we had to get the thicker curtains. Freaked out the cat the first time she saw it.

“The infamous Ms. Thang? Where is she?”

Probably hiding to make sure you won’t steal her treats. You sure you wanna meet her?” Miles asked with amusement.

“How bad can she be?”

...

Justin: HERE IS YOUR WINNER AND THE NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW SCW INTERNET CHAMPION, MILES KASEY!

Secrets To Success
Las Vegas, NV

He had to be asked to be pinched following the win in Reno. His hand raised, Carter practically tackled hugging him in the ring and then Calvin with the passing of the torch of that SCW Internet Championship followed up by a congratulatory manly hug didn’t seem to be nearly enough but finally after almost a year later, Miles Kasey was a champion in SCW.

Despite all the nay-saying wet mops, he finally cracked that next level ceiling and found himself victorious. All that hard work paid off ten-fold.

His bag was a wonderful 20 pounds heavier. And there were a few people that he had to thank personally.

The atmosphere buzzed with energy as Miles Kasey walked into the gym, fresh from his victory in Reno. The weight of the SCW Internet Championship belt was a testament to his hard work and determination. He felt a mix of pride and anticipation, knowing that he had a title to defend and a reputation to uphold.

“Well, I didn’t think I’d see you today!”

He heard it as soon as he crossed the threshold into a place that recently opened their doors to him via an invite from the man himself. Gabriel Stevens.

Miles smirked as he shook the man’s hand, “Why? You’d think I’d just rest on my laurels? I have a defense coming up after all.

“In a triple threat no less. Congratulations by the way, I’m sure K will be happy as hell to see you.” which was said with a little too jovial tone.

"I said I didn't wanna rest on my laurels... Not get stretched into oblivion." Miles said with a laugh, "Thanks again for the invite though for letting me into the intersanctum as it were. And thanks for the hush about it for the time being."

"Hey, it's paying off for you and that's all that matters. Besides, it gives the students someone new to work with."

"HEY! ARE YOU GONNA KISS HIS ASS ALL DAY LONG OR ARE YOU FINALLY GONNA GET YER ASS IN HERE?!" Kristjan called out from across the Go Gym. Kristjan, a familiar presence in the gym, chimed in with his usual gruff humor, setting the tone for the rigorous training session that awaited.

"Oh good, he's in a mood. Pray for my joints." Miles joked. "We really need to get him back in a ring on a regular basis."

"That or not set Karen's at his door." Gabriel joked back. "Oh yeah, he told me all about that."

All Miles did was drop his head back and let out "Fuck." followed by Stevens wishing him luck.

Two Hours Later

Sitting... No... More like slumped in a corner sopped in his sweat, both Miles and Kris had put each other through the proverbial ringer.

"You're an asshole," Miles let out with a smirk.

"You'll thank me later. Especially when you retain that damn title." K too soaked, smirked and slapped Miles' foot, "Go again?"

"You're a machine! Don't you have a husband to get home to?" Miles let out with a laugh. "Seriously though, mate, if it wasn't for you kicking my ass lately I'm not sure if.."

The man known as Fenris sits up and points at him, "Don't get all sappy on me, Milo. You earned a little bit of credit in that win against Calvin."

"Yeah now I just gotta survive Braddock and Eddie Lyons." Miles says, setting up himself, running his hands through his drenched locks, "Gotta admit, that's one hell of a hill the climb."

"Admit nothing, there isn't a single guy on the roster that isn't beatable on their best day. You, Miles Kasey, have done what few have and found your way and now sit with the second highest rated championship in SCW." K said, "They have to beat you or best you and with how hot things have been lately, I somehow doubt that either one is going to be ready for what you are about to bring.”

Now who’s asskissing?” Miles laughed, as he pulled himself up and offered his hand to Fenris who takes it and gets pulled up to his feet, “OK, one more round and then I gotta get home before Carter. He had a doctor’s appointment again today and something is telling me that I need to be there just in case he’s ready to come clean as to why.

“Things ok between him and his old man now?”

I would assume so...Carter is up to something though and I have a feeling I know what.

Miles Kasey stood in the center of the dimly lit room, the SCW Internet Championship glimmering on his shoulder, rocking a simple suit, loosened tie and a smirk on his face. His eyes burned with determination, his voice carrying the weight of his newfound responsibility.

"You know, they say the measure of a champion isn't just in the fights they've won but in the challenges they face. Braddock, you my man are one HELL of a competitor, but your arrogance blinds you. Underestimating opponents has been your downfall before, and it'll be your undoing again. You see, I'm not just a kid who lucked into this championship. I fought my way through the mud and blood, through years of struggle and pain. This title isn't just a trinket around my waist; it's a testament to my grit, my resilience, and my refusal to back down."

Miles's gaze hardened as he continued.

"Eddie Lyons, you're no stranger to high-flying antics and crowd-pleasing moves. You've dazzled fans, and you've earned your respect. But this isn't just a match. This is a battle of wills, a clash of styles, and I'm not planning on being another highlight in your highlight reel. I've worked too damn hard, faced too many demons, and bled too much to let someone else snatch this title away from me."

His grip tightened on the championship, his knuckles turning white.

"It may be something stupid to say but hell with it...I respect the both of you. I respect your skills, your passion, and your love for this sport. But respect isn't going to stop me from fighting tooth and nail to keep this championship. I won't let Braddock's arrogance or Eddie's charisma cloud my focus. I won't let them take away what I've earned, what I've fought for with every ounce of my being."

"I am the SCW Internet Champion, and I didn't get here by luck or chance. I earned this, and I'll be damned if I let anyone take it away from me, especially so soon after finally breaking through that God Damn glass ceiling that I’ve been banging my fists on for so damn long. So, Braddock, Eddie, get ready for a fight like you've never experienced before. Get ready to face a champion who will defend his title with everything he has. Because when I step into that ring, I'm not just fighting for myself. I'm fighting for everyone who believed in me, everyone who supported me, and everyone who ever doubted me."

With a final, determined look, Miles clenched his fist, the championship glinting in the dim light.

"And mark my words, when the dust settles and the bell rings, I'll still be standing here, still holding this championship high. This isn't just a title; it's a symbol of my journey, my sacrifices, and my dreams. And I won't let anyone shatter those dreams. Not now. Not ever."

This title right here? This is mine and many others want it, a few have had it but now you’re gonna have to kill me to get me to let it go.

Miles holds that pretty SCW Internet Champion up close and personal and his blue-green eyes look ahead as to dare anyone who try.....

Come and get it, if you dare.

Keep Messin’ With Me
Las Vegas

For all the benefits that living in the Turnberry Towers had there was one thing that Miles had rather wished he could have gotten out of the minute he signed on the line for his lease.

The Tenants Association.

It was a way for those that live in the towers to get together, unleash any concerns and occasionally put a few trouble makers in their place.

Since Miles had moved in just two floors below Kristjan and Aron Baltasarsson back in January of this year, he has had one major issue with the whole damn place. And her name just happens to be Karen Chapman.

Ms....yes MS. Chapman with her three children, her over processed blonde hair, looking like she got ganged-banged by Mary Kay and Avon reps that has absolutely nothing better to do than force her kids into shit they didn’t wanna do, and devote her entire existence into making the residents of the towers a living hell when her husband wasn’t around to wish that he could afford a divorce.

Trust me, the man is miserable.

When it came to the matters of Karen, she did nothing but look down her nose at pretty much everyone that did not immediately kiss her ass. Miles first meeting with this woman was when he was having a conversation with another tenant of the towers about how this was really the first place he had bought, and just how all the hard work had paid off. It was something that he was honestly allowed to be proud of because before that moment, all he did was rent or take up space in his friends' places.

Karen would just insert herself into a conversation that had absolutely nothing to do with her and was incredibly RUDE about it. It’s one thing to insult Miles. He can take it and he’s used to it but then she started to go after Carter for just calling her out on her “guest” for taking their assigned spots, at that point there was zero love lost for this woman.

Apparently during the last tour, where Miles and Carter were in a completely different timezone,  there was a meeting where she decided to try and get pets banned from the building. Of course they would leave it to the majority vote and since the majority wasn’t there, she was forced to gather signatures.

Which leads us to the current time.

It WAS a quiet afternoon. Was being that word when the Ring doorbell went off.

“Were we expecting anyone?” Miles asked. Over the last couple of weeks, between the condo in the midst of planning for a remodel and all the insanity going on with Carter’s family, he wasn’t sure anymore.

Carter stopped to think for a second, “Not that I’m aware of.”

With Ms. Thang on his shoulder, Miles stopped to check the screen, he just groaned, “I didn’t have ‘Be nice to a bitch’ in my cards today.”

“Karen? What does she want?”

“Who the hell knows.” Miles grumbled, “I’m really not in the mood to talk to her of all people.”

Just then the buzz came again followed by her fist not knocking but POUNDING at their door.

“I CAN HEAR YOU IN THERE, MR. KASEY!”

Miles looked at Carter who continued to flip through one of his many magazines that have seemingly taken over the living room area as of late, “Don’t look at me. I dealt with her the last time she got pissy about the note I left her.”

Miles simply let out a short breath mumbling “shit” under his breath before he debated about just letting it go for a moment but it was like a Howler from Harry Potter...the longer you let it go, the worse it only gets.

He would indeed open the door and plaster on the fakest smile he could with her and she almost cringed when she saw him with Ms. Thang still hanging out on his broad shoulders, “Ms. Chapman, I really can’t talk. We’re in the middle of some-”

“Whatever it is, Mr. Kasey, your ...roommate can spare you for just a few moments. I am here to inform you that there is a petition going around to amend some rules in the towers. One of them is about well...that thing on your shoulders.”

“What? Ms. Thang?”

“All pets actually. There was a complaint made recently about all things 4 legged and there being NO concern about those with allergies or medical conditions to these filthy-”

Ms. Thang quickly hisses at her before jumping off of Miles shoulders and runs back into the apartment, “Well I think I agree with her. Karen, if you even think about shoving that paper in my face, I’m going to show you how the first version of confetti was made. Secondly, I heard about your confrontation with Carter and you have a whole lot of guts showing up at my door after that.”

“He is being allowed to stay here and has no right to-”

“No ma’am. He is LIVING here, this is OUR home and we are given two spots each. But I will not be signing your little petition to anything, no matter your reasoning. BUT I will tell you that if you want, you can go two floors up and ask them. You might have better luck.”

“Who do you think you are?”

“Someone that won’t be shoved around or intimidated by your supposed power. That and if you had been a little kinder to myself and my boyfriend, maybe I would be kind enough to give you the time of day. But Karen, you screwed the pooch on that one about 7 months ago and on.” Miles smirks, “I do wish you luck on that but umm...yeah, no thanks.”

“You do not want to make me the enemy, Mr. Kasey.”

“And you are not the first person to threaten that, Ms. Chapman. So climb back up Mount Crumpit until your shriveled heart grows three sizes, but give my best to your hubby.”

And all Miles does is wink at her as she goes to scream at him and he slams the door in her face. He can hear Carter just lose it from the living room, “You do realize that you sent her to Fenris and probably made things 10 times worse, right?”

That just brings a shrug to his shoulders, “Hey, she started it.” he said as he took a seat next to him, “Now, where were we?”

Round 2

“Not that long ago, Calvin took to twitter and made mention about how I pulled out all these stops in the King for a Day match. And part of me honestly thinks that he was majorly impressed and perhaps a little intimidated by the absolute lengths that I will go to towards making an absolute statement that I wasn’t about to be pushed around.”

“And I think that’s where he caught himself up last time. He pushed himself so hard that he hurt himself before we even got to the match and he found out real quick that I wasn’t about to take pity on that.”

“So it took the most devastating move in all of professional wrestling for him to end it after we took each other to the absolute limit. And since then, it’s been relatively quiet. Our Internet Champion, who laid out that challenge was suddenly caught up in what he had to do to beat me that he went right to Mark and Christian, demanded that the second bout be for his championship because he perhaps is thinking that incentive is going to make things even better.”

“Well, he would be right.”

“Not gonna go into the details of the situation because I am allowed my secrets but I’ve been having conversations lately because suddenly I feel that glass ceiling cracking ever so slightly. I KNOW that I can get to that next level and it’s just a matter of time before all those pieces finally come together.”

“Calvin, no offense mate, but when you laid this challenge out I was hell bent on making sure that this was going to be my crowning achievement in 2023. Last year was the Roulette. Now you wave that shiny piece of gold in front of my face like bait, and not only am I going to bite but I’m going to drag you down when I do.”

“Not a damn thing personal about it, bruv. It is strictly business. And at least look at it this way...at least I like you. I don’t think you’d want me on my bad side.”

“I’ll show you what I can do...when I’m pushed hard enough. And that’s take that Internet Title from you”

Are We Quite Finished?
Immediately Following THAT match on Climax Control

The backstage area was still buzzing with excitement as Climax Control was still going on but following one particular match, it felt as if staff and security set themselves up for a possible blowout.

He wasn’t looking for any more fights tonight, though. Miles Kasey had his fill from the battle he just went through. The games and the hoops that he was forced through had gotten on his last nerve and after a hard fought battle, and huge weight had been lifted. Even if it was only momentary.

He would cross the threshold of the gorilla position, ring coat in one hand, head to toe sweat; red marks across his chest, a nice little temporary tattoo from his stablemate. In the other hand he carried two water bottles, balanced just right in his hand and a towel slung over his broad shoulders. He noticed the extra manpower but honestly, they need to put their worries in other places instead of him.

He found out recently, the louder noise he made, the more shocking wins he had, the more often that the cameras were immediately on him. He actually had given a thought that they were doing this lately as to make some sort of documentary about all the insanity surrounding him lately. Hell, might as well, his life has been an open book a lot lately.

So let’s make it a show.

H’OKAY! Let’s get a couple of things out of the way.” Miles says tossing his ring coat, as we hear it hit the equipment box with a solid thud followed by the towel on top of it, “ONE! Finn Mother Fuckin’ Whelan, you are a madman and maaaaaaaaaate...I’m sure once this adrenaline wears off, every inch of me is gonna scream in a reminder of what we just did out there.

He sits one of the water bottles down, opens one up and takes a quick sip before dumping the rest on top of his head, and he shakes it off, “And not one bad feeling about it because I KNOW what you were doing. I knew the lesson you wanted to teach me and I’m not going to hold this against you. You simply stepped up and tried your best to knock that rust off all off of a favour being asked by Mercer. But sorry, Tin Man, I was a little quicker tonight and we’re going to leave it at that.

I warned everyone that this whole mindset of me not taking shit seriously, is going to come to an end. I do hope Austin realizes it now but somehow I think he is going to continue to DOG ME every chance he gets, but I no longer have the time to even give that a moment of focus because now we move on to brighter ideas.” Miles takes a seat on the equipment box and fiddles with his coat a little bit, as he gets comfy. He opens the other bottle and takes a long drink from it as he contemplates his next words carefully.

I will say that just two weeks ago, I felt like the most popular tosser in the bunch and suddenly I didn’t feel like all this work that I had put in was all for absolute dick. Calvin Harris, the SCW Internet Champion called his shot.” He grabs his towel and runs it through the dark blonde curly locks and his rugged, almost exhausted looking face, before he just sets it across his shoulders again, “And bruv, before we go any further, thank you on even considering me for this and I heard you before I went out there tonight and took on a former World Champion, I tried to not let it feed my ego and you were 100% right, the fans deserve this and they want it.

So, this is going to happen one way or another and we’re going to get it going in Fresno. Whether that Internet Title is on the line or not, I do not care. It’s going to be a match that is going to set the tone of things to come. I just have this feeling.” Miles smirks for a moment, “The fact that it has taken this long since your return for us to even do this feels like a crime and who the fuck are we to deny the anticipation to just keep on bubbling.

He rolls his shoulders, like he feels that adrenaline begin to wear off and the pains of the match starting to really sit in, “I am more than likely going to be sore from head to toe still after the ass kicking I got tonight, but I will be there next Sunday and we’re about to give and get as great as the rest of them.

And with that he slowly slides off the box and gathers up his stuff before he looks back, “Now, if you excuse me, I’m gonna go rest up because something tells me that I have a lot of work ahead of me....and a lot of ibuprofen....and maybe a couple of shots of tequila...actually maybe whiskey.

How Do You Even...?
Back in Last Vegas

The night had settled over the desert city, casting the room into shadows save for the soft glow of the moon filtering through the curtains. In the bedroom that Miles and Carter shared, the atmosphere was heavy with unspoken words.

Carter lay on his back, his gaze fixed on the ceiling, his father's journal resting on his chest. Miles sat on the edge of the bed, his hands clasped together, uncertain of what to say or do. The weight of the moment hung in the air.

Miles finally broke the silence. "Babe, I can't pretend to know what you're feeling right now. But I want you to know that I'm here for you, whatever you decide to do."

Carter turned his head slightly to look at Miles, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I never thought... I never thought I'd hear from him again, and then him stalking me... let alone like this."

Miles nodded, his expression filled with understanding. "I know, love. It's a lot to process. And it's okay to take your time with it."

Carter sighed, setting the journal aside on the nightstand. He turned to face Miles, his expression a mix of gratitude and uncertainty. "You've been so patient with me, Miles. I know I've been distant about this whole thing, but it's just... it's so much to take in."

Miles reached out and gently brushed a lock of hair from Carter's forehead. "Hey, if I were in your shoes, I have no idea how I would even react if my asshole of an old man showed up suddenly after 15 years. It probably would be very similar to how you have been up until just now.” Miles lays down by him and smiles gently, “You don't have to figure it all out tonight. We can take it one step at a time. Your father's journal will be there when you're ready."

Carter's hand found Miles', their fingers intertwining. "Thank you for being here for me, for understanding. I just - How can you be so absolutely gentle and loving about the whole damn situation?"

Miles smiled softly, his thumb caressing Carter's hand. "Well it might have to do with the fact that I actually love you.” Miles lets out a laugh which brings a small laugh from Carter for a moment, “I'm here, no matter what you decide. And now to sound all mushy, but we’ve come far enough, I have absolutely zero issues in letting you cry while I hold you and tell you it’ll all be okay."

Miles held his arms open for a moment before Carter barely even thought twice and moved right into Miles arms and wrapped himself up in his grasp.

A couple hours later...

The dimly lit hallway was quiet, save for the faint hum of the air conditioning. Carter lay sound asleep in their bedroom, exhaustion finally claiming him after a turbulent evening. Miles, however, found himself restless.

He carefully slipped out of bed, trying not to wake Carter, who had finally found some solace in sleep. The floor felt cool beneath his feet as he made his way to the kitchen for a glass of water. The desert night outside the window was actually storming currently, an interesting contrast to the emotional storm that had swept through the room earlier.

As Miles filled a glass with water, he couldn't help but think about Carter and the immense weight that had been placed on his shoulders. His own past had been filled with its share of turmoil, but he'd never had to face a situation quite like this.

He went to take a small drink before he heard, Joan clearing her throat behind him. He didn’t even hear her come out of the room but he didn’t jump but just turned around with a small smile.

"Couldn't sleep either, huh?" Miles asked softly as he entered the room, leaving the door slightly ajar.

Joan looked up, her eyes filled with a mixture of weariness and concern. He offered her a glass from the drying tray next to the sink and she took it, turning to the refrigerator and pouring herself a glass of milk. She would just sigh and shake her head, "No, dear. My mind's been racing all evening. I worry about Carter and what all of this means for him."

Miles took to leaning against the counter, nodding in understanding. "Yeah, it's a lot for him to process. He's been through so much tonight."

Joan took to standing across from him the milk setting on the counter, currently forgotten, "He's a strong young man, but even the strongest need someone to lean on. I'm grateful he has you, Miles."

Miles smiled, genuinely touched by Joan's words. "I'll do my best to support him, Joan. He means the world to me."

Joan reached out and patted Miles's hand gently. "I can see that, dear. You're a good man, and you love him deeply. That's what matters most."

They sat in companionable silence for a while, both lost in their thoughts. Outside, the desert night held its secrets, and inside, two souls found solace in the presence of each other. “I should get back just in case he wakes up. Hopefully you can find sleep soon.

“I will try. Sweet dreams, dear.” Grams raises her glass before heading back into the spare bedroom.

Sweet dreams.” Miles says just before he slips back in to his room, placing the glass to the side and slipping carefully back into bed. Just as he is about to close his eyes he feels Carter curl up into him again and he places a gentle kiss on top of his head.

Carter simply sighs in his sleep and finally sleep captures Miles but just before he slips into it he hears, “Thank you, love.

A familiar sentence between the two and one that neither will ever regret.

Climax Control Archives / Butterfly Effect
« on: September 15, 2023, 11:59:33 PM »

The looks on people’s faces as Carter and Miles walked through JFK International Airport usually were nothing they weren’t used to.

This however was a tad bit different as the duo were getting looks from the gate onwards to baggage check, they were getting eyed by Miles giving a piggyback ride to a gift that has been getting toted around, pretty much, around the globe.

Ok so, to be fair, neither one of them felt safe in shipping this large gift from across the Atlantic, but had someone told Miles that he would be giving this 4 ft plush creation of Carter’s favorite (And Bella’s too) crazy genetically built blue alien not only it’s own seat on the airplane, but now to hauling this thing on his back while Carter carried their carry-ons. Even the look on their Uber driver’s face made the whole thing well worth it.

He couldn’t wait to pop on to his phone later and see all the shots of him and Carter with fans and Stitch on his back. It’ll certainly be a story to tell down the road.

Hell, it’ll be a story when they finally get to Bella and Mal’s to deliver this to their little one, Máire. Seeing the look on Malachi’s face when he opened the door with that little girl in his arms made the whole damn thing worth it.

It even made everything from the King for a Day match roll off his back a little easier with this insanity. He put EVERYTHING he had into it, his fingers touched it and just like an untreatable case of the herp, Mercer drives that big bulbous head into his and it all goes to fucking shit.

The trip to New York was only for a couple of days to begin with. A stop at the O’Connell’s, a trip to Staten Island to check out a restaurant that Carter found online and had been talking about it, practically non-stop, any time the topic of New York City was even broached. There was also the matter of the rest of his stuff, and a place that he had bought and had spent a total of two weeks in before he left for Las Vegas, bought another place there and had remained since.

He had his reasons, the majority of them being his relationship with Carter and the life that had seemingly grown in an almost instant the moment he set up stakes in the desert. For the last 8 almost 9 months, he was finally happy. He had jumped with both feet and thankfully it wasn’t a cliff waiting for him.

Or so he thought.

It seems that in it all, a butterfly effect has been set in motion.

What the hell is this?” he heard Carter call out from the living room that has been covered by sheets.

Miles had been in the bedroom, dropping off the bags to just get them out of the way when he walked out and saw his boyfriend with the sheet in hand and his eyes just looking in shock, “That would be the hand-me-down couch that was given to me by this extremely sweet lady that lived down just down the hall from me in my first apartment. She got a glance one time inside my rather pathetic looking place and suddenly I had two teenagers moving it in. Maybe I should make a trip to the Heights while we’re here just to say hello.

You had a Mrs. Wagner of your own?

Something like that,” Miles smirked, walking over to Carter and looking down at it with a fondness in his eyes, “Everyone called her Abuela Bea, one of those amazing women that never had children of her own but took care of everyone in the neighborhood. I moved it here the day before I left for Vegas but I’m realizing now looking around that it doesn’t really fit.

I can’t believe you’ve had this place this whole time and only lived for a short time here.” Carter said looking around at all the space, before stopping at the window and motions to Miles, “That view alone would have made it super difficult.

The sun was just setting over the city. While Miles couldn’t deny that the view was glorious, which was part of the reason he even got it to begin with, besides the location closest to Wolfslair...that finely tuned ear could hear Carter question why he gave this up to move across the country, farther away from his family, farther away from the gym he grew into the performer he has been, it not so many words. He just looked out as well and wrapped his arm around Carter’s shoulders, “Well the view I have now is a whole lot better.

Miles didn’t even have to look to tell the blush creeped up on his boyfriend’s face. Carter stuttered for a moment, “But...you left a lot behind.

A few moments ticked by before Miles laughed, “I left some furniture behind. And yeah I have friends that I left behind here too but at the same time, I do not under any circumstances regret leaving here. I have never stopped training and working my ass off like Alex taught me, despite what some people think. I get that it may have irritated some like Austin, but I am not going to give up the home I have found with you on the off chance that sticking around here can make me any better.

During all this, he simply walked over to the old beat down couch and sat down and began to pull out the chinese that they had picked up on the way from Bella and Mal’s for a late night dinner. But it was a word that slowed him down and almost caught in his chest for a brief moment.

That word: Home. Miles never had that really before, not in New York, not in Manchester. And the words seemed to just flow so freely that suddenly a whole weight had been suddenly lifted. His home, moreso his heart, was with Carter. The asskickings be damned.

So- what about this place?” Carter said after he swallowed a quick what almost sounded like sob, “Are you going to sell it?

Miles shook his head as finished setting everything up, handing Carter a pair of chopsticks, “I had considered it but after talking about it with a few people, I have an appointment tomorrow and I’m gonna turn it into one of those AirBNB places. That way, if we need to come back to New York at any time, I can just simply block out the dates and we have somewhere to go without it costing an astronomical amount of funds.

Look at you being responsible,” Carter said, “But this couch has got to go.

Miles looks insulted for a moment, “Hey, this couch has a lot of stories....

And a lot of stains!

Some call it character,” Miles said, taking a big bite of an eggroll, as Carter just glares at him, “Fine, I’ll get rid of it.

THANK YOU!” Carter finally lets out as he digs into his favorite meal, “Now...let’s talk about the condo.

Miles just picked up an eggroll and just put it in Carter’s mouth before he could continue on, “Later, love. Eat.”

Butterfly Effect
Back is Vegas
Earlier this week

Next week, first time ever, one on one...Miles Kasey goes against...Finn Whelan.

Those words rattled in Miles’ head like a ping pong ball in what was usually an empty head since Sunday night.

He knew that Austin was not going to take it easy on him when it came time for him to take control of Climax Control but this was a whole new level of asshole-ism that was hit.

This was no longer a lesson by Austin. It was fucking punishment.

Finn Whelan, a former SCW Champion was just a tiny line on a resume that made War and Peace look like Cliffnotes and he was coming back and Miles knew that without a doubt he was about to have the hardest fight of his life.

It was bad enough that he had been feeling like he was dealing with a horrible case of Imposter Syndrome, especially with having so many trips as of late but this sent him into a very interesting mindset.

With the condo in disarray, due to their renovations that had only just begun, Miles needed a hour or two to clear his head. The gym was dimly lit, with the overhead lights casting elongated shadows across the training mats. It was past midnight, and most of the world was deep in slumber, but not Miles Kasey. He couldn’t sleep much this week. He stood in the center of the ring, sweat glistening on his chiseled frame, fists clenched as he mentally replayed the events of the past week.

I cannot believe I’m saying this, but props to Austin James Mercer and putting the fear of fucking God into me. You could have taken ANYONE among Wolfslair and yet you picked the one guy that has been just biding his time and waiting for that right moment. And what a better time...to be your personal bitch.

Finn, you beautiful disastrous soul, you finally decided to knock those cobwebs loose and come back. I will never understand why you left to begin with sometimes, I mean I get that you needed to get your head on straight and finally crawl out of your own personal tunnel of self-pity. But, my god, I am still trying to get a grasp on what in the ever loving fuck I have done wrong.

You fuckers wanna punish me for being human? Go right ahead, but I am done being pushed around. If I have to start taking the heads of my own stablemates to get you to leave me alone? I don’t want to, bruv. I really don’t. But it seems like you all are leaving me with no other choice.

These lingering effects that seem to be happening to me because I have done something you all don’t seem to approve of STOPS HERE. I’m not going to let it keep happening because after this, Austin has no stake in what happens next. Win, lose, or draw...my next path is already known.

From here on out, the wolf that you created is going to bite back.

Just Laying It All Out There

Have you ever felt completely naked while fully clothed? I’m always been told that I’m never tough enough, that I just roll with it and have no problem in remaining less than my ability.

Let’s get something out of the way from the get, there is a fine line between being content in life and people out there actually trying to claim that I don’t want more!

Pardon me, but WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!?!

If anyone knows me, I do not like to settle for more than a moment when it comes to my career. I’m always looking for some way to improve. And if you don’t see that, than you need to call your doc, have your eyes, your ears and maybe even your brain checked. Take off those damn blinders.

Or better yet, keep talking your shit because me and you? We’re about to have a ‘Come to Jesus’ moment, where you are not going to like the outcome.

You bastards want a more vicious Miles Kasey, instead of the ever loveable Milo?

On your head be it.

The studio lights flickered to life, casting a warm glow over Miles Kasey as he settled into his chair. Across from him, a well-known wrestling journalist flashed a congenial smile. The camera began to roll, capturing the charged atmosphere.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight, we have the privilege of sitting down with none other than Miles Kasey, an absolutely outstanding SCW star and some would say the embodiment of resilience and tenacity. Miles, this weekend is participating in Violent Conduct IX and their traditional King for a Day ladder match," the interviewer began, his voice tinged with excitement. "Miles, welcome."

Miles inclined his head, his expression a mixture of confidence and focus. "Thank you for having me."

The interviewer shifted the conversation slightly, his tone now lighthearted. "Let’s talk about the obvious here first and let's talk about something a bit more personal. We've seen your partner, Carter, by your side through thick and thin. How does having that kind of support impact your approach to a match as crucial as King for a Day?"

Miles' expression softened, a fond smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Ah, Carter. He's been my anchor, my rock. It’s so easy, when you have a match at the caliber of what I am facing at Violent Conduct. Having him by my side isn't just about having someone to come home to—it's about having someone who understands this world, who understands me. He's seen the sweat, the pain, and the sacrifices that go into what I do."

He leaned back, his gaze distant for a moment. "But it’s just so much more. When I step into that ring, I know I'm not alone. Carter's support fuels me, drives me to push through the challenges. It's a different kind of motivation, a reminder that there's something beyond the cheers and the spotlight. He's a constant reminder of the life waiting beyond those ropes."

The interviewer nodded in understanding. "It sounds like he's more than just a partner to you."

Miles chuckled, a warmth in his eyes. "Absolutely. Let me just put this out there, he is without a doubt my better half. I’m not gonna go all Tom Cruise crazy and whatnot but I love and adore him. He's the one who keeps me grounded, who reminds me that there's more to life than this crazy world of wrestling. His unwavering belief in me, even in my darkest moments, it's like having a piece of home wherever I go."

He leaned in, his tone earnest. "Carter's taught me that the strength to conquer anything I do comes from within, but the strength to conquer life? Well, that comes from the people you choose to share it with."

As he spoke, there was a depth of emotion in Miles' voice, a recognition of the profound impact Carter had on his journey. The human aspect, the personal connection, was an integral part of his preparation for the match.

The interviewer leaned in, a hint of curiosity in his gaze. "Let's address the recent events, going back to the most recent Climax Control. Your tag match victory followed by an unexpected attack from your own partner, Austin James Mercer. It must've been quite the emotional rollercoaster. How are you processing it all?"

Miles leaned back, a wry grin playing on his lips. "Ah, the tag match. That was a hell of a ride, wasn't it? As for Austin's little 'surprise,' well, it wasn't exactly a shocker. I've had my fair share of encounters with that bloke. But you see, when you've been through the trenches, when you've faced betrayal and pain from life itself, you're not easily fazed. I've taken punches from life that hit a whole lot harder than anything Austin's thrown at me."

The interviewer nodded, his intrigue growing. "Strong words, Miles. Speaking of Austin and your other opponent, Jack, they've been quite vocal about their doubts regarding your ability to seize control, especially in a match like King for a Day. How do you respond to their skepticism?"

Miles leaned forward, his eyes locked onto the camera. "Austin and Jack can talk all they want. I've never been one to rely on words to define me. It's in my actions, my journey. I’ve been called complacent for how my own career has gone. People want me to try and take the fast track, when I am perfectly fine to show people that I am more than capable of standing there, IF  I should so choose to do so. I don’t wanna burn out too fast, I wanna be able to enjoy my time in my career. A career where we see people getting so badly hurt at such young ages, that they have no choice but to give it up. As for King for a Day? It's more than just a match. It's a chance for me to prove that I've been seizing control from day one. I've fought uphill battles, faced demons that would've shattered others. This match, this moment, it's the culmination of all I've overcome. And trust me, I won't let their doubts determine my destiny."

The interviewer leaned back slightly, a sense of captivation evident in his expression. "And what's your strategy going into the ladder match? It's a complex and physically demanding match type."

Miles grinned, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest. "Ladder matches are about more than just brawn. They're about strategy, about outwitting your opponents. I've been studying, learning from the best in the business. My strategy? It's simple: I'll outlast them and maybe attempt to outsmart them. We’ve all seen what it’s like when I let my brain get in the way and when it comes to those in this match, the three other individuals are far more cerebral than I could possibly ever be. I've climbed metaphorical mountains of doubt, swam through rivers of pain. This ladder? It's just another obstacle, and I'm damn good at overcoming those."

A flicker of admiration crossed the interviewer's eyes as he pressed on. "Any words for your opponents, Miles?"

Miles leaned back, his expression serious. "Austin, Jack, and anyone else underestimating me...keep watching. And please go right ahead and keep doubting. But remember, come Violent Conduct IX, you'll be witnessing a new chapter in my story. A chapter where I take the reins, where I show that I'm not just a contender, but a force to be reckoned with. It's going to be a night that leaves a mark on SCW history."

The interviewer leaned in again, his tone becoming more inquisitive. "Miles, there's one more name that's been conspicuously absent from the recent chatter—Alexander Raven. He's remained rather quiet leading up to Violent Conduct IX. What's your take on his silence and how do you anticipate his presence might factor into the match?"

Miles leaned back, his brow furrowing slightly. "Ah, Alexander Raven. The enigma in the shadows. You see, Raven's silence doesn't fool me. He's a strategist, a thinker. I've been in the ring with him before, I know what he's capable of. His quiet demeanor? It's a facade, a smokescreen. Underestimate him, and you'll be playing right into his hands."

He leaned forward again, a glint of determination in his eyes. "Raven's not the type to make noise for the sake of it. He's saving his energy, biding his time. But let me tell you something—I won't make the mistake of overlooking him. I've faced adversity from all sides, and I'm prepared for whatever curveballs he might throw. The quiet ones? They're often the most dangerous."

The interviewer nodded, a sense of intrigue coloring his features. "So, you're keeping a close eye on Raven?"

Miles smiled, a mixture of respect and caution evident in his expression. "Absolutely. I’d be a fool to not take his threat seriously, much like I’d be an absolute belland for not feeling threatened by Austin and Jack. Because I know that when they do make a move, it'll be calculated, it'll be impactful. I will say that Raven might be the wildcard in this match, but I won't let any surprises catch me off guard. I'll be ready for whatever any of them brings to the table."

As Miles spoke, there was a palpable tension in the air, a recognition that in a match like King for a Day, every participant would bring their unique strengths to the battleground.

The interviewer grinned, a sense of camaraderie in his tone. "Well, there you have it, folks. Miles Kasey, resolute and ready to seize control at Violent Conduct IX. Thank you for sharing your insights with us, Miles."

Miles stood up, extending his hand with a confident smile. "Thank you. And to everyone watching, brace yourselves for Violent Conduct IX. It's going to be a night of unforgettable action."

As Miles walked off set, the studio lights casting a final glow around him, the sense of unyielding determination he exuded lingered in the air—a testament to his unwavering spirit in the face of challenge.

Restless Night

Let it be known though, through the swagger, the smirks and all- I am my own worst critic. I could easily live in my own head 24/7 and what good does that do for me?

A lot of sleepless nights.

My energy level has been jacked for the better part of a week too. I’ve been lucky to get a solid 3 hours of sleep at times. Tonight, no exception and I’m not about to keep Carter up for all hours of the night to work through my own bullshit. He gets a little cranky on little sleep and there is not enough caffeine to remotely make up for it.

So here I am. In my own head.

The hotel room was steeped in darkness, the only source of light being the soft glow of the moon filtering through the curtains. Carter lay in peaceful slumber, his steady breaths a soothing lullaby. But for Miles, sleep remained elusive, his mind a swirl of thoughts and emotions.

He tossed and turned, the sheets tangling around his legs, as his gaze flicked restlessly between the ceiling and his phone resting on the nightstand. His heart raced, the anticipation of the match and the undercurrent of adrenaline refusing to let him find respite.

With a frustrated sigh, Miles reached for his phone, the screen casting an eerie glow in the dim room. His fingers danced over the screen, scrolling through his messages. Then, a notification caught his eye—a message from Bella. His lips curved into a small smile.

"Hey, stranger," her message read.

Miles' thumbs danced over the keyboard as he typed out a reply. "Hey yourself. Can't sleep?"

Almost immediately, Bella's response appeared. "Nope, wide awake. Máire's got me on mommy duty."

Chuckling softly, he pulled himself out of bed carefully so as to not wake Carter and Miles typed as he made his way into an area separate from the bedroom, "Ah, the joys of parenthood. How's the little one doing?"

Hold on.” is what he got next, followed quickly by a video chat via messenger as Bella's smile was evident as she was cuddling her daughter in one arm while holding her phone with the other, "She's an almost three-week-old bundle of energy, even at this hour."

Miles chuckled, seeing Bella's hands full with her newborn daughter. "Just like her dear old mum. Well, at least you're not alone in the sleepless nights."

Bella's laughter seemed to fill the room, despite the distance. "True that. So what has you up so late, recently? So, pre-match jitters?"

Miles leaned back against the pillows, a mixture of exhaustion and anticipation evident in his gaze. "Yeah, you could say that. It's like my mind's racing a million miles an hour."

Bella's eyes sparkled with understanding. "I remember that feeling, even if it was from a different kind of performance."

Miles smiled, the familiarity of their friendship providing a sense of comfort. "You were always good at channeling that energy."

Bella shrugged playfully. "Or maybe just good at hiding the nerves."

Miles chuckled, his restlessness momentarily forgotten. "You've always been a pro at that."

Bella leaned back, her expression softening. "So, King for a Day. Big deal, huh?"

Miles nodded, a mixture of determination and excitement in his eyes. "Yeah, it's a hell of an opportunity. A chance to show the world that I'm not just a fighter, but a strategist too. And that's what I've been working on. Besides Lach, it doesn’t seem like much of the gang from Wolfslair wants to remind me of it because they’re trying so hard to stay out of the middle of all this stuff going on between myself and Austin."

Bella leaned in, her expression serious yet encouraging. "Hey, listen to me. You got this, Miles. I've seen you overcome hurdles that would've broken others. You've got the heart and the talent. Now it's just a matter of seizing that moment."

"Thanks, Bella," Miles said sincerely. "Means a lot coming from you. It's just...sometimes the weight of it all, you know? But talking to you, it kind of eases the tension."

Bella's smile was gentle. "That's what friends are for, right? That and I’m sure Carter will appreciate you talking someone else’s ear off and letting him sleep."

Miles nodded, a grateful warmth flooding his chest. "Absolutely. ...wait...has he said anything?"

Just the lack of sleep he’s been getting, that and the one twitter post where he was cranky.” she teased, “Call it a mother’s intuition. Find that comes it quite useful with you guys.

They chatted for a while longer, about wrestling, life outside the ring, and everything in between. The screen cast a soft glow on Miles' face as their conversation flowed effortlessly. The restlessness that had plagued him earlier began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of connection and camaraderie.

As the conversation came to a close, Bella yawned, her eyes twinkling, she had long since put her daughter down in her crib. "Well, I should probably try to get some sleep before Máire's next feeding."

Miles chuckled, his own exhaustion catching up to him. "Yeah, I should probably attempt that too. Thanks for this, Bella. Seriously."

Bella's smile was warm and genuine. "Anytime, Miles. You know where to find me. Good luck. Kick some ass out there."

"You too. Take care," Miles said as they bid each other goodbye.

The screen went dark, leaving the room in soft shadows once again. Miles settled back against the pillows, a sense of calm washing over him. Though sleep might still be elusive, the weight of the upcoming match felt a little lighter, thanks to a friend who understood the intricacies of the wrestling world.

He smirked and laughed that one of the best friends he could ever ask for knew how to break him down and get him to at least rest a little bit. He would carefully crawl back into bed next to Carter and pull him close. As he closed his eyes, he couldn't help but feel grateful for the connections he had made, the support he had, and the journey that had led him to this moment. The night might be restless, but there was a quiet confidence that was building within him—a fire that would guide him through the challenges that lay ahead.

Seizing Control: A View from the Shadows

The arena was cloaked in darkness, a stark contrast to the blinding spotlight that awaited its moment. Miles Kasey stood at the edge of the ring, the canvas beneath his boots almost buzzing with anticipation. His silhouette was sharp against the dimness, his outline etched in the subtle play of light and shadow.

"So, I stand at the crossroads of doubt and determination," his voice, low and resonant, sliced through the stillness. "I can still hear their voices—the skeptics, the naysayers—questioning my ability to seize the big victories that have been plaguing me on and off for quite some time. But doubt is just another opponent, and I've faced worse. Doubt is the fire that fuels my ambition, that drives me to reach heights I once thought impossible."

As his words echoed through the arena, a projection began to play on the screen behind him. Images of his past battles, his triumphs, and his moments of vulnerability flashed by in rapid succession. It was a visual representation of the journey that had brought him to this pivotal juncture.

"It's funny, you know?" he continued, his gaze fixed on the screen. "Life is a lot like this match. A ladder of challenges, each rung taking us higher, each step fraught with uncertainty. But we climb because we crave something beyond the struggle. We climb for the view from the top, for the moments that make every bruise and every tear worthwhile."

The spotlight intensified, casting a stark contrast between Miles and the surrounding darkness. His form appeared almost ethereal, as if he was a beacon of resolve in the midst of the unknown.

"And as I ascend that ladder tonight, I'm not alone," his voice held a note of conviction, of unity. "I carry the lessons of those who came before me, the mentors and the friends who've shaped my journey. And I carry the camaraderie of those that have cheered me on, who've shared in my victories and defeats."

With each word he spoke, the screen behind him showcased the faces of those who had been a part of his wrestling odyssey—his partner, his friends, and the fans who had stood by him through thick and thin.

"Austin James Mercer, Jack Washington, and Alexander Raven," his tone shifted, an edge of determination piercing through. "The men that even the smartest gambler would bet on as the sure thing to walk away with that Golden Briefcase that is going to be hanging high above the ring."

As he spoke, images of his opponents flashed on the screen—one by one, their faces appeared, each accompanied by snippets of their confrontations.

"But there when you come down to it," he continued, his voice gaining intensity, "and nothing against these men, when it comes to hunger and the absolute NEED to shut all three of them up."

The screen transitioned to show the three opponents he named, each in a moment of triumphant arrogance.

"Yeah, that goes to yours truly," he declared, his voice unwavering. "I’m not blind. I am certainly not deaf. I hear every single thing that is being said about me and about how it seems like I am complacent with being in the middle."

As he spoke, the images shifted to show headlines and tweets questioning his place in the wrestling world, doubting his capability.

"Some would even say that I don’t even belong there," his voice carried a mixture of frustration and resolve. "I have been working myself down to the absolute bone, trying to figure out what exactly it would take to finally live up to each and every one of your supposed expectations."

The images on the screen began to blur, overlaid by a transparent image of Miles in a contemplative pose.

"And the more I worried about that," his voice softened, tinged with self-discovery, "The more I realized that if I finally gave in, if I finally am like ‘yeah you’re right’ I would turn into bitter, cocky pricks that seemingly do not give a rats ass about anyone but themselves."

The screen shifted to show moments of his vulnerability—times when he questioned his own worth.

"I’m supposed to run with a pack," his tone grew resolute, "That pack is supposed to have each other's backs. Instead, I find myself the lone wolf of the pack because it has to always be the hard way."

Images of his friends, his alliances, juxtaposed with moments of isolation.

"I have had no issues with that in the past and I certainly have no problems with it now," his voice resonated with a mix of acceptance and defiance.

The screen was dominated by a stark image of a wolf, fierce and untamed, embodying Miles' spirit.

"I can feel it, I can feel that moment is right there," his voice surged with anticipation, "And just because of three men that seem to think they can make me the fodder of every single joke they have about the guy that ‘Should have been the next big one but keep tripping at the finish line’, they feel like I am unworthy of getting this crowning achievement."

The screen transitioned to show the opponents' taunts, the laughter that had echoed in his ears.

"And make no mistake," his tone turned fierce, "I have had no issue in making fun at the expense of myself but I am so totally fucking over the whispers."

Images of Miles confronting his opponents, of standing tall in the face of mockery.

"And it’s about damn time, don’t you think?" his words hung in the air, charged with determination.

The screen displayed a moment frozen in time, Miles looking into the distance, a fierce determination in his eyes.

"Actually I wanna thank Austin and Jack and even Raven," his voice took on a touch of gratitude, "For shelling out my weaknesses for the whole world to see, just so I don’t have to."

Images of his opponents' criticisms and provocations, overlaid with images of Miles in contemplation.

"I actually have to thank you," his tone shifted, grew resolute, "For actually not whispering behind my back because you all know exactly what I am capable of."

Images of Miles fighting back, his spirit unyielding in the face of adversity.

"And I’m about to prove it in one of the most spectacular ways ever," his voice swelled with conviction.

The screen shifted to show moments of Miles' training, his preparation, his unwavering dedication.

"And you better believe that I’m gonna take advantage of it in the grandest way ever," his words echoed, charged with the energy of his determination.

The screen displayed images of Miles in victorious moments, his hand raised in triumph.

"Just remember, YOU wanted this," his voice was a battle cry, a declaration of his readiness.

The screen faded to black, leaving the arena in darkness once more, the echoes of Miles' words lingering in the air.

"Now, you’re gonna get it."

Alright, assholes. Buckle-Up.

You ever get the absolute feeling that you are about to be completely fucked over by the one person that you were teaming up with?

YEP, that was me on Sunday.

I’m a toss pot for ever thinking less of Austin, and I knew it was coming and yet like a fucking moron, even after I saved his arse, got us the win...how does that twat repay me?

It’s not the first time that I have felt that kind of pain and it sure as hell won’t be the last. But when you are coming off an injury, bust your ass to win the fucking thing only for something like THAT to happen?

You’d be a little hot under the collar too.

Here, let me set the scene for you:

Think of this as an SCW extra, if you will...

Following what had happened in the tag match, a commercial had thankfully begun to air on the screen for the whole world to see. Austin had already left the scene of the crime, Jack and Raven could have been giving each other the business on the other side of the ring for all Miles could give a shit. He only had one thing in mind.

He carefully rolled himself out, to the protest of the officials and staff around the ring and made a bee-line for his mum and sister who were sitting in the front row close by where the time-keeper and Justin were sitting. His head was buzzing from the win, his blood was boiling from what had occurred after the win but he walked over and gave the both of them a hug. That would slow the blood racing that would keep him from going to the back and going on the proverbial hunt for now.

He knew that the crowd was watching as they gave a little cheer. Course, some of the fans that sat close by couldn’t help but give him a slap on the back as he made sure to let his family know that while beaten up, he wasn’t broken.

He would motion to the security to make sure that they would be properly escorted to back when they were ready and then dragged his ass around the ring giving some fans a high five and a couple selfies but there wasn’t much time. He made his way up the ramp and stopped for just a brief moment to give them all one final cheer towards him as he smirked for a brief moment before turning and heading to the back.

It was there that the switch flipped.

PISS OFF, YOU FUCKIN’ VULTURES!

It hadn’t even been 30 seconds since Miles stepped through the curtain to the gorilla position before the trainers were on him, like flies on shit, to make sure that he was alright. He hadn’t even gotten to Carter yet, who was waiting by the desk with a look of concern.

Miles was not having it though. He had enough over the last 3 weeks of being poked and prodded at and on any other given Sunday he would have had no issues but seeing as what he just went through with the whole ‘I don’t trust you to win this match, Miles’ all the way to the fact that Austin had zero fucking reason to NOT trust him and the thanks he gets is being attacked?

Everyone but one individual in that area could get soundly pounded with a rusty, crusty artificial phallus as far as he was concerned.

But to appease the masses, he stopped and took a deep breath and let it out and held his arms out, “Bueno?” is all he said before they all parted the seas and let him through. He would gather his ring jacket over his one arm and before giving a salute to Mark and Christian who were watching the whole situation and wrapping a protective arm around Carter and whispered in his ear, “I know that look. I’m fine, love.

Can’t really blame me, can you?” Carter whispered back, “Besides, it looked like you were about to start throwing fist the minute you walked back here.

Only because I knew for a fact that the med staff was gonna be just waiting. That Legacy Bomb is not a fun ride and Austin put some stank on it just for me.” Miles quipped, rubbing the back of his neck, as he steered their way out of the area and through the halls of the arena, “Nothing a good glass of whiskey for dinner can’t solve.

Don’t you mean ‘with dinner’? Your family is joining us after all.” Carter laughed.

I said what I meant, but considering what you said earlier and seeing as I did get the win, I fully plan on you paying up on your little ‘incentive’ as soon as we are all alone in our hotel room,” Miles smirked, and looked back for a moment just to make sure that no one overheard that, “That was cruel by the way and I have never been so thankful that I don’t wear those shorts anymore.

That caused an immediate pout from Carter, “Ohhh I miss those! I mourned when you switched to the long tights.

That was forever ago though!” Miles looked at him for a moment and couldn’t help but laugh, “Ah, so that’s how I looked when you got your new gear.

At least I didn’t try and hide it!

Yeah, but don’t think I didn’t notice you sneaking in those shorts from that lingerie match into my bag whenever you get a chance,” he let out before opening the door to the men’s locker room, “Do me a favor? Keep an eye out for my mum and sis while I go grab a quick shower, just something to take the stink off and then after dinner...

Miles whispers into Carter’s ear and it causes a shiver, before he gets caught up in his boyfriend’s eyes, “Now who’s being the mean one?

He shakes his head and gives him a peck on the nose, “You started it.

You know, I love you with a touch of vicious.” Carter said with a flirtatious tone.

Mmm, well stay tuned.” Miles raised his eyebrows, “I’ve only just begun.

A Heartfelt Farewell

The morning after the tag match, as the sun began to cast its warm glow over the bustling streets of Rio de Janeiro, Miles found himself in a cozy cafe with Carter, his mother Mora, and his sister Brianna. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee mingled with the faint scent of pastries, creating an atmosphere of comfort and togetherness.

They sat at a table by the window, the morning light filtering through the glass and painting gentle patterns on the tablecloth. Miles sipped his coffee, savoring the rich flavor as he exchanged quiet smiles with Carter. The night before had been eventful, but this morning was reserved for something more intimate.

"It's been an eventful few days," Mora spoke, her voice carrying a mix of pride and concern. "You kids have been through a lot."

Brianna nodded, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "And who would've thought I'd witness you getting attacked on TV?"

Miles chuckled, shaking his head. "I know, right? Wrestling can be fun, entertaining and unpredictable. Even if you saw that shit come from 100 miles away."

Carter leaned back in his chair, his fingers lightly tracing patterns on the rim of his coffee cup. "But you handled it like a pro, babe. Even if you wanted to rip people’s heads off after."

Mora's gaze softened as she looked at her son. "You've come a long way, Miles. I remember when you were just a young boy with big dreams, running the streets like a maniac. Now look at you."

Miles felt a swell of emotions as he met his mother's eyes. Her support had been a constant in his and his sister’s life, a source of strength even in the most challenging times.

"As crazy as it has been...and believe me I’ve had more than enough, I'm grateful for every step," Miles said, his voice filled with sincerity. "For the wins, the losses, the injuries... They've all shaped who I am."

Brianna reached over and placed her hand on top of Miles', her touch a silent show of solidarity.

Miles smiled at his sister, a mixture of emotions bubbling within him. "As nuts as this sounds, I know that I'm lucky to have you both. I know I wasn’t always the easiest to deal with, but this....ah I’m getting mushy."

As the conversation continued, laughter and stories flowing freely, the cafe seemed to hold a bubble of warmth and connection. It was a moment of togetherness, a quiet pause in the midst of their busy lives.

"It almost doesn’t feel right that we have to head back today," Mora said with a touch of regret in her voice. "But we'll be watching you, Miles. Rooting for you from afar."

Miles couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort, a reassurance that he was not alone in this journey. He reached over and clasped Carter's hand, the touch grounding him.

"You know, I don’t say it enough...But...Thank you," Miles said, his voice carrying a depth of emotion. "You know, for everything. For being here, for being my rock. Hell for...just everything."

Brianna leaned forward, her eyes shining with mischief. "OK enough with the mushy stuff, it’s bad enough I gotta go home to a one-year-old and a pain in the ass mother-in-law. I want you to go kick some ass in that ladder match, my dear sweet brother."

Miles grinned, the tension from the past few days lifting in the presence of his loved ones. "You bet I will."

Carter smirked, “Oh and do give your husband’s mother all of the hellos when you see her. I’m sure she misses us.

“Only if it has the possibility of sending her into an early grave,” Bri says sipping on the last of her coffee, “Did mum tell you about her latest blow up?”

NO! Are you telling me you’ve been here for almost a whole week and you’ve been holding out on us?” Miles said, giving his mother a look.

“Let’s just say that her reputation with the MP’s office has officially been trashed and she has no one to blame but herself,” Mora said with a tone that was proper but in a way that says she ‘fucked around and found out’ the hardway.

Miles looks at Carter, “My mother has a vindictive streak! Who knew?

I know I should refrain from commenting but knowing you like I do and getting to know your sis a little more...” Carter raised his eyebrow, “Bravo, to you Miss-

“Carter, call me Mora. And by the way, I also know if it wasn’t for you...well let’s just say I have a lot to thank you for as well.”

Miles nudges him a little bit, “She’s right, you know?

A Moment of Reflection in Yucatan

The waves lapped gently against the shore, the rhythmic sound echoing in the air as Miles stood on the sandy beach in Yucatan, Mexico. The sun hung low on the horizon, casting a warm golden glow that painted the world around him in hues of orange and pink. It was a moment of calm before the storm, a respite amidst the chaos of his thoughts.

The upcoming King for a Day ladder match loomed large in his mind, its significance magnified by the setting sun and the serene surroundings. This was a far cry from the locker room, a place where he could let his thoughts roam free and reflect on the journey that had led him here.

Miles took a deep breath, the salty breeze tangling with the strands of his hair. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the moment wash over him. The memories flooded back, a torrent of emotions and challenges that he had faced head-on.

"The road to this beach has been anything but smooth," he whispered to the wind, his voice carrying the weight of his journey. "It's been paved with pain, doubt, and betrayal. But I've walked it, I've trudged through the storm, and I'm still standing."

He thought of that tag match, the sting of Austin's inevitable betrayal, the ache of his body after the Legacy Bomb that had long since faded a couple of days ago. But, it was a wound that ran deep, a scar that would remain long after the physical pain had faded, much like everything else that had been done to him at the hands of Austin, Alexander and Jack as well. But he wouldn't let it define him. He wouldn't let Austin's actions be the anchor that dragged him down.

"This isn't just about Austin," he said, his voice firm and resolute. "It's about every moment, every match, every obstacle that's brought me to this point. I've faced monsters in and out of the ring, and I've stared them down with everything I've got."

Miles walked along the shore, the sand cool beneath his feet. In his solace he could easily picture letting his fingers brush against the golden briefcase, a reminder of what was at stake. It was more than just what the case could bring; it was a chance to prove to himself and to the world that he was more than the sum of his scars.

"At Violent Conduct IX, I step into that ring not just as a wrestler, but as a survivor," he declared, his words carried away by the wind. "I carry with me the weight of every challenge, every heartache, and every triumph. And as I reach for that briefcase, I'm reaching for a future that I've fought damn hard for. I have never in my life wanted to be handed ANYTHING."

The sun sank lower, painting the sky with streaks of red and purple. Miles looked out at the horizon, a sense of peace washing over him. He wasn't alone in this fight. He had his family, his friends, and the unwavering support of those who believed in him.

"And not to sound cliche, but I've climbed mountains of doubt, swam through rivers of pain, and faced down demons of betrayal," he said, his voice echoing with determination. "And now, after seeing what happened in that tag match, knowing that Jack loves to underestimate me...which after getting his ass pinned to the mat by me, he’d be a tosser to do that again...I'm ready to climb that ladder, to seize control of my destiny. Just like it seems all three of you have been trying to get me to do, all along."

He let the words hang in the air, a promise to himself and a declaration to the universe. The ladder match ahead was a culmination of his journey, a chance to turn his scars into stepping stones, and his pain into power.

"Alexander Raven knows FIRST HAND what it was like to push me to the breaking point. At Violent Conduct IX, in that ring, I'll carry the weight of my past, but I won't be defined by it. In fact I’m pretty much fucking over that definition, because in all honesty I cannot let put a stamp of ‘lovable loser’ printed in big bold letters across my ass," he said, his voice unwavering.

As darkness settled over the beach, the stars above twinkled like beacons of hope. Miles stood tall, his gaze fixed on the horizon. The path ahead was steep and treacherous, but he was ready to face it head-on, to overcome, and to emerge victorious.

"With the echoes of the waves as my witness and to whatever Gods may be watching, I'll finally stop fucking my whole career up and FINALLY seize control of my destiny. At Violent Conduct IX, I'll write the next chapter, and it won't be a tale of betrayal, it won’t be one of tripping at the fucking line and falling on my ass, or my head," he said, his voice carrying across the beach. “I’m going to climb that ladder, I’m gonna grab up the destiny....and I’m going to make a whole lot of people sweat in anticipation of what I have in store for you.

Miles gives a wicked little smirk before he turns away from the sea, his heart filled with a renewed sense of purpose. He was ready to face the ladder match, to face his past and his doubts, and to emerge stronger on the other side. The beach stood silent, a witness to his determination, as he walked back toward the lights of the city.

Twenty-Nine Trips Around The Sun

Throw everything you have into it, especially when you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

And what does that get you?

Drilling your stablemate through the commentary table, knocking you both out and busting up your own ribs, therefore taking you out of the ring for 3 weeks and doing God knows what to him, therefore only extending the hell that you have been putting yourselves through for a number of months.

ALSO!

Unsure of the damage you did to him because well Austin never shows his cards but considering they had to peel him up from the remnants of the table, the damage was done. And not one thing was solved.

So, what next?

A Little Mayhem

Christian Underwood, SCW’s answer for the devil's advocate, just had to be laughing his absolute arse off when he concocted this match.

And honestly, Miles should have seen it coming the minute he walked into Peru, to watch and cheer on Carter as he had the biggest match of his career against J2H, and immediately get yanked right into the trainers room.

Which, since what took place in Jordan, has become a regular situation for him but usually he has been allowed time to breathe before being poked at and asking where it hurts. In turn it made Miles only want to grab one of their little tools and poke them in a very sensitive spot and ask them where it fucking hurts.

Thankfully that was kept to just an inner thought.

But finally the words he longed to hear happened and written down on the sheet that he was to give to both Mark and Christian as soon as he left, *ALL CLEAR FOR COMPETITION BEGINNING NEXT WEEK*

FUCKING FINALLY!” is all that he let out the minute he got through the door to the hallway. He was pretty sure that a piece of paper wasn’t really needed after that to let everyone know he was finally cleared. Hell, he felt good to go as of last week so this was just paperwork at this point.

So now he just had to make it through this week, knowing he was a healthy scratch now, he needed to be there for Carter who was already a nervous wreck.

But even as the show ticked on, the hair on the back of his neck stood up, he knew that somewhere evil minds were at work.

Going into that go home show in Rio, it would be strange bedfellows indeed.

Someone’s Got A Birthday, I Wonder Who?

He was an absolutely impossible man to buy for. He knew that.

Miles was someone who loved to give and asked for absolutely nothing in return and that probably drove Carter insane the most.

And it wasn’t like they were able to take a week off to go jaunting off to Dollywood like Miles did for Carter’s birthday just a couple of months ago. This time around work called and they had to be in Rio de Janeiro. It also wasn’t like Miles was intentionally being difficult to give out ideas. Things that neither one had tried before that could be done around the area during the day of Miles’ big 29th birthday. Last year was perhaps the best one yet, after years of not really celebrating at all after he left home.

Though he doesn’t remember the majority of it, there is video footage out there somewhere ready for blackmail, he was sure of it.

But when Wednesday finally came around, Miles would open his eyes just like every other morning to find the other side of the bed surprisingly empty. Carter was NEVER up before he was, the majority of the time. Usually Miles was up about 2 hours earlier than now and already had a run and shower. Instead, the alarm was turned off, his phone was also missing along with the charger cable.

Babes?” Miles called out but no answer was given. He could hear moving around outside the bedroom though.

Now on any other given day, Miles would just saunter out sans clothes but something told him to at least throw a pair of shorts on, just in case Carter decided to have people out there waiting for a ‘too early for people’ Happy Birthday.

Outside the bedroom of the suite that they currently called home for the week, Carter was preparing a small dining room table that was full of pretty much all of Miles’ favorite breakfast foods. WAY too much for the both of them to eat even on Miles’ best day. He hadn’t heard the door open up behind him and Miles stepped out from the room and walked around looking slightly relieved that no one but them were there. Carter would stand up straight making sure that everything was perfect before he slightly jumped when Miles wrapped his arms around Carter’s midsection and pulled him close, giving a little peck on his shoulder and huskily saying, “It appears someone turned off the alarm and stole my phone from me this morning.

That brought a smirk to Carter’s face, before he turned around, “Well, it’s your birthday and you deserve to sleep in and be spoiled.

You’ve done enough spoiling on me for the last 3 weeks taking care of me. This?” Miles looks around and sees all the food that is spread out, “Are you trying to fatten me up?

Carter mock-scoffs at that and pushes him away jokingly, “Never!

Love, this looks like the spread at SCW’s catering. There is no way in hell we both can eat all of this, unless Ari and Francisco are gonna pop up this early, and if that’s the case I may have to make my coffee an Irish one.” Miles joked, grabbing a couple of cups and pouring some of the freshest coffee he’s ever smelled in his life. He would have to remember to send Bella a message about it later. But after fixing them both, he would bring one cup over to Carter who was still fussing about things, “Ok, you are seriously fussing over this! What’s the deal?

Carter sighs and takes the cup from Miles and trying to give an innocent look but you know he’s just biting at the bit about something, “Just wanting things to be perfect that’s all.

Like I said, there is more than enough food here....” A knock comes to the door and Miles groans.

Can you get that? I still have to warm up the muffins.

Fine, but I am not putting a shirt on even if it is those two. It’s my birthday! They’re lucky I don’t run around naked all damn day!” Miles says as he opens the door and finishing the sentence and then his eyes grow wide, “What in the-?

On the other side of the door stands Miles' mom, Mora and his twin sister, Brianna, who shouts out, “SURPRISE!!!”

Ho-ly shit!” as Miles sweeps them both up in a giant hug.

“Happy Birthday, my dear sweet boy!” Mora says, muffled in the arms of her son.

I cannot believe this!” he said letting them go and pulling them both inside the suite, “How? When?

“Carter, of course! He called a couple of weeks ago, flew us in.” Mora said motioning towards Carter who was peeking his head down the hall and waving with a giant smile on his face.

I told you he’d love it!” Carter said, “Miles let them in and sit! Breakfast is getting cold.

“It does smell terrific. Carter, please tell me you didn’t go all out for us?” Mora said.

I can tell you he did exactly that,” Miles said holding a chair out for his mom before doing the same for his sister, “He’s got two birthdays in the same room and after I spoiled his mum and grandmother, this is his way of getting back on that.

Prove it,” Carter said, sticking his tongue out at his boyfriend who gave him a look that he’d pay for that later.

I will say that this day is off to an amazing start. When was the last time we actually celebrated our birthdays together?” Miles said looking at Bri, “I wanna say we were like 14?

Brianna pours herself a cup of coffee and takes a sip, “Mmm, actually we were 13. It poured all day long so you had all my friends in the same place as all of your friends and it made for awkward conversation for a bunch of kids who just hit puberty.”

The cake was excellent though.” Miles said laughing and nodding towards his mother, “We may not have ever had a lot but that devils food cake with peanut butter icing was just...” he does the chefs kiss.

“I sadly couldn’t bring it with me...but, I did manage to get something for you from home.” Mora said, reaching into her oversized bag. She pulls out a small 6-pack of Krispy Kreme donuts.

And just like that, I have the best mum ever!

HEY! No spoiling what we got here,” Carter let out when he went to open the box, “Which reminds me, I gotta get those muffins.

Carter stood up to get that crossing behind Miles and touching his shoulder, which Miles stopped him with his hand on his, and brings him down for a quick kiss, “Best birthday ever.

Just wait until tonight. I’ve only just begun.

Later that night

The ambiance of the restaurant was lively, the sound of soft Brazilian music filling the air as candlelight flickered across the table. It was a perfect evening in Rio, and the gathering was intimate yet joyous. Miles, his twin sister Brianna, his mother Mora, along with Ari and Francisco and of course Carter were all gathered to celebrate their joint 29th birthday.

Laughter and chatter floated around the table as they savored their dinner. Stories were shared, memories revisited, and the love that bound them together was palpable. It was a moment of togetherness that Miles cherished deeply.

As the evening progressed, a warm smile played on Carter's lips. He shifted slightly in his seat, reaching into his pocket, his eyes locking onto Miles'. In that unspoken moment, Miles could feel a sense of anticipation building in the air.

Carter's gaze held his for a moment before he pulled out an elegant box from his pocket. His fingers grazed over the soft velvet exterior before he gently pushed the box toward Miles. "Happy birthday, Miles," he said softly, his voice carrying a hint of affection.

Miles looked at the box, his curiosity piqued. He met Carter's gaze again, his heart fluttering slightly as he reached for the box. There was a mixture of excitement and something more, something deeper that he couldn't quite put into words.

Opening the box revealed the gleam of polished steel and the glint of diamonds. His breath caught as he laid eyes on the exquisite Rolex watch nestled within the cushioned interior. The craftsmanship was impeccable, the design both elegant and understated.

Miles' gaze lifted from the watch to meet Carter's eyes, his own eyes shining with a blend of surprise and gratitude. "Carter... this is... incredible."

Carter's smile grew, a soft flush coloring his cheeks as he looked at Miles. "I know you're not usually one for flashy things, but I thought this might be different."

Miles felt a lump forming in his throat, the weight of Carter's words sinking in. He lifted the watch from the box, holding it in his palm, feeling the cool metal against his skin. It was more than just a watch; it was a symbol of their relationship, a testament to the love they had for each other.

He looked up at Carter again, his eyes shimmering. "I- I love it. Thank you," he managed to say, his voice laced with emotion.

Carter reached across the table, his fingers gently brushing against Miles' hand. "You gave me my beautiful moonstone necklace," he said softly, referring to the moonstone necklace Miles had gifted him on his birthday, one that he wears practically everywhere, including tonight. "I wanted to give you something equally special."

Miles nodded, his heart swelling with affection. In that moment, their connection felt deeper than ever, a bond that transcended material things.

As the evening continued, the watch found its place on Miles' wrist, a constant reminder of the love they shared. And while the watch itself was undoubtedly a precious gift, it was the sentiment behind it that truly mattered—the promise of time spent together, moments cherished, and a future filled with love and adventure.

You Shouldn’t Trust Me

The day following the birthday celebration was a mixture of tranquility and tension for Miles. The sun hung lazily in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the Rio de Janeiro landscape. Miles found himself on the balcony of their temporary suite, a cup of coffee in hand, and his thoughts consumed by the upcoming tag team match.

As I stand here, just a few days away from that ring, I can't help but reflect on the chaotic path that's led us here. Austin and I, two men who should be allies, whose paths were once intertwined, are now standing on opposite sides of the ring. The last time we faced each other, it was nothing short of a collision of anger, history, and pain. We both ended up shattered, the match thrown into chaos, and neither of us could claim victory.

He leaned against the railing, gazing out at the sprawling city below. The ocean breeze rustled through his hair, carrying with it a sense of calm that contrasted sharply with the storm brewing within him. His mind echoed with the words he had spoken just days ago, the monologue that had captured his feelings about the strange bedfellows match.

Austin James Mercer. The name brought forth a complex blend of emotions. Once friends, their bond had fractured under the weight of their shared history and recent conflicts. It was difficult to forget the chaos of their last encounter, the match that had spiraled into a destructive frenzy, leaving them both battered and bruised.

Now, fate has thrown us together once again, not as opponents, but as reluctant partners. Strange bedfellows indeed. Teaming up with a man I've clashed with both physically and emotionally. It's a scenario I never thought I'd find myself in. Trust? That's not a word that fits here. The scars run deep, the wounds still raw.

Miles took a sip of his coffee, the bitterness of the brew a stark reminder of the bitterness that still lingered between them. Fate had an uncanny way of weaving paths together, and now he found himself standing at a crossroads with Austin once again. This time, not as adversaries, but as reluctant partners.

He closed his eyes briefly, the memories of their clashes flooding his mind. Trust was a fragile thing, easily broken and hard to mend. The scars of their past ran deep, a constant reminder of the pain they had inflicted on each other. As Miles had said, the wounds were still raw.

But there was more at stake now. A common enemy, Jack Washington and Alexander Raven, both fueled by their own hatred for each other. Miles could practically feel the tension radiating from the ring, a maelstrom of emotions waiting to be unleashed.

But sometimes, life takes us down roads we never expected. Sometimes, we find ourselves side by side with those we've shared bitter rivalries with. It's not about trust anymore, it's about survival. Survival in a match where animosity breeds uncertainty. I may not trust Austin, and I'm pretty damn sure he feels the same about me, but we share a common enemy. Jack Washington and Alexander Raven. Two men whose hatred for each other is almost tangible, their combined toxicity capable of tearing a hole in the very fabric of this ring.

We're all tangled in this web of history, animosity, and a dash of irony. We're not just fighting for a victory, but for a semblance of control over our own stories. We're stepping into that ring, four individuals who have our own reasons for being there. The air is thick with tension, each move we make fueled by more than just competition. This match isn't just a battle of strength; it's a battle of wills, of egos, of past grudges and future aspirations.

As he opened his eyes, his gaze shifted to the Rolex watch on his wrist, a gift from Carter. It served as a symbol not only of their love but of the journey he was embarking on. The upcoming match wasn't just about victory; it was about proving to himself and to the world that he could rise above the past, the doubts, and the animosity.

Miles took a deep breath, letting the ocean breeze fill his lungs. The air was heavy with anticipation, each passing moment bringing him closer to the moment of truth. He knew the path ahead wouldn't be easy, that the ring would be a battleground of emotions as much as physicality. But he was ready, ready to face his doubts, ready to stand alongside a man he had clashed with and questioned.

And as the crowd roars, as the adrenaline courses through our veins, I'll be there, facing Austin across the ring. The same man I've clashed with, bled with, and yes, even hurt. But in this moment, we're bound by a common purpose, a shared struggle against two men whose loathing for each other is as strong as our own. It's an unpredictable dance, a tango of emotions and alliances that will test the limits of what we can endure. And bragging rights, as we all get set for Violent Conduct.

The city around him buzzed with life, a vibrant backdrop to the storm within him. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting long shadows over the balcony, Miles found a flicker of determination igniting within him. The match was a challenge, a test of wills and alliances, but he was resolved to face it head-on.

He set his coffee cup aside and straightened, his gaze fixed on the horizon. The tension in the air was palpable, a reminder that the storm was coming. But Miles was prepared. He was a man driven by more than just competition; he was driven by the need to overcome, to rise above, and to emerge stronger on the other side.

So, I stand ready. Ready to face my own doubts and fears. Ready to stand beside a man I once trusted and now question. Ready to take on two opponents whose mutual hatred may be their ultimate downfall. I'll step into that ring not just as Miles Kasey, but as a man driven by something more. Whatever may come, one thing is certain: this match is not just about winning or losing, it's about proving to ourselves and to the world that we can rise above the chaos, the history, and the doubts, and emerge stronger on the other side.

And with that, Miles knew that the time for reflection was over. The sun had fully set, casting the city into a canvas of twinkling lights. The ambiance of Rio de Janeiro's nightlife filtered into the suite, adding a touch of energy to the air.

Gentleman, let’s party.

Unveiling the Rivalry
Rome, Italy

Amidst the bustling backstage chaos in Rome, Miles Kasey found himself waiting for Carter, the man he loved and supported through thick and thin. As he stood there, anticipation and pride swelling within him after Carter and Ari's stellar performance and victory over the Barnharts, he couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment.

However, his tranquility was short-lived as he glanced at a nearby screen displaying the upcoming events. His eyes widened in disbelief as he read the announcement for the next stop on the Wonder of the Worlds Tour: Amman, Jordan:

King For A Day Qualifier
Miles “Milo” Kasey vs. Austin James Mercer

The words seemed to jump off the screen along with their graphics, taunting him, and stirring up a whirlwind of emotions he thought he had buried, after all the last time he came face to face with Austin was back in May. His heart raced, memories of their turbulent recent history flooding his mind.

The last time they were in the ring together, they both sought to dethrone the then-champion Michael Harris, but neither had succeeded. Afterward, there were no let bygones be bygones, there was no ‘hug it out’, and a promise was made by Miles to the man that did everything but attack his family, to face each other again, one on one.

Don’t worry Austin, we’ll get our time. I want you in that ring at 100 percent and I know you want the same. We need to both show a tiny bit of patiences bruv....above all else that is something that I have had to pick up on since I even started. Pick your moments, enjoy your time and above all else, never stop evolving. Thanks for the match tonight, and I look forward to the next round. I promise, next time, I won’t miss.

Miles could hardly believe that the day had finally come. Austin, once a trusted ally and fellow Wolfslair member, had become a formidable foe, and the animosity between them ran deep.

Seeing the match displayed on the screen made it all too real, and a mix of anger and determination surged within him, he could feel his whole body buzzing alive with anticipation. After almost 3, maybe 4 months, he understood Austin's misguided intention of using his actions against Carter as a motivator, but Miles couldn't let that manipulation stand unchallenged.

As the truth sank in, he felt an urgency to confront the whole situation, to face the issues that Austin had created and had frayed the fabric as it were, and threatened to crack the very foundation of Wolfslair. But above all, there was an overwhelming desire to prove to not only himself and Austin, but to everyone else that he wouldn't be derailed by personal animosity, even if it meant going against his former friend and someone Miles considered a mentor.

His initial sense of contentment was replaced by a fierce resolve. Miles realized that he couldn't simply confront Austin before the match, it’s not what either of them wanted anyways. There was much more at stake than just a spot in the King of the Day match. This was an opportunity to heal wounds, mend the rift, and possibly find a way to rekindle the friendship they once cherished. He would have to take Austin to the absolute limit because that was the one language that they both spoke. Beating the fucking hell out of one another.

He took a deep breath and began to map out a plan. He needed to prepare himself mentally and physically for this long-awaited confrontation. He knew he couldn't ignore the past, but he was determined not to let it define the future. He decided to use the time leading up to the match to reflect and strategize, and he hoped that Carter would understand that over the days leading to the match, he would have to put his whole focus into this match.

As if the powers heard his thoughts, his phone rang out with a notification. Looking down he smiled as he got a message from Carter, asking for his whereabouts. Truth be told, since he saw the graphic that highlighted the match, he had mindlessly began to wander and when he looked up, he had turned around, not 100% sure where he actually was.

He decided to send out a voice message, “So, I don’t know exactly how, but I ended up in an empty part of the arena. So give me about 10 minutes, and wait for me in catering. If I’m not there by then, send out the search party.

Another notification came across and it was in the form of a voice message from Carter himself, he playfully answered, “Well I could always find you...

No, love. No need for you to get lost in this place too and we don’t need to get arrested for anything lewd.” Miles laughed, “Bad enough we’ll have to deal with that this coming week.

I am hurt and appalled that you’d think that, but fair. 10 minutes on the clock, get here quick before Ari picks the restaurant.

On my way, love.

With each step he took, he could feel that determination grow stronger. He knew this match could be a turning point in their rivalry, but it required careful thought and consideration. Miles needed to be ready to face his own demons and confront the issues that had led them to this moment.

As finally got back into the land of the living, he walked through the bustling backstage area, he couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions—nervousness, excitement, and a glimmer of hope. He knew that by the time the match arrived, he would be mentally and emotionally prepared to face Austin, not just as an opponent, but as someone he once considered a brother.

Indiana Kasey and The Kingless Throne

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting an amber glow over the breathtaking landscape of Amman, Miles Kasey and Carter sat together, enjoying the tranquil beauty of Jordan. They had settled down in their hotel room after a day of exploring the ancient city, and now they were immersed in one of Miles' favorite movies—Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

The familiar theme music created by John Williams, filled the room and Miles found himself captivated by the adventurous tale unfolding on the screen. As he watched Indiana Jones, portrayed by Harrison Ford, navigate treacherous challenges and unravel ancient mysteries, a sense of enjoyment washed over him as he occasionally glanced over at Carter who was equally engrossed in the movie.

Suddenly, as the movie reached its iconic scenes in the hidden temple, Miles felt himself being dragged into exhaustion and a strange sensation came over him. He blinked, and for a moment, the room seemed to fade away, replaced by a vast desert landscape.

He found himself standing in the heart of Petra, dressed not in his regular attire but in the rugged and iconic outfit of Indiana Jones. His leather jacket, fedora, and whip completed the transformation, making him feel like a true adventurer.

"Indiana Kasey....okay then." he muttered with a grin, relishing the absurdity of the situation.

He slowly crept through, a sound catching his attention and forcing him to draw his gun that sat at his hip, for a brief moment. Cocking it back and taking slower steps around the corner where the noise was coming from. He turned the corner quickly and stopped when he saw a couple of large rats clattering through armor that was left behind a long time ago and dry bones from someone who fell pray to whatever traps laid ahead.

Rats, it’d figure. Always trying to creep their way through everything.” he said as he brought the gun back and holstered it safely.

As he explored the ancient city, he felt a rush of adrenaline. Every step he took, every obstacle he encountered, was thrilling. He scaled ancient walls, navigated hidden passages, and solved intricate puzzles, all with the charm and charisma of the legendary archaeologist.

In this dreamlike state, the boundaries between reality and fiction blurred. He swung across deep chasms, mirroring the movie's famous scene with the Holy Grail, but instead in its place was a crown.

“I have been waiting for you.” Miles heard. He pulled the gun out of the holster carefully and turned only to find himself face-to-face with the Knight Templar, guarding the sacred artifact.

The Knight curiously looked at him, “I intend no harm.”

Could have fooled me, you there with your broadsword,” Miles said, not trusting the old man for a moment.

“The prophecy spoke of you being unsure as to whom to trust. I can understand that, seeing as how rough your journey has been. But I am a simple guide for you.” the Knight looked pained after holding the sword up for so long. There would have been no way for him to swing it let alone attack our hero. Indiana Kasey, stood down quickly and helped the old man sit back for him to sit down, “We must make haste in what I must tell you. There are others that are on their way and I fear that they may ruin this chance.”

Kasey glances over and sees the crown, “I take it that’s not what I’m really in search of? The crown?

The knight simply nods, “Alas, that is just a ruse. Your goals are far more greater than a missing crown atop your head for the throne you have built yourself.”

But as he stood before the crown, a moment of clarity washed over him. He looked off to the side and there sat another ‘Holy Grail’ of sorts, that SCW Championship that he had recently told others that he wasn’t sure if he was worthy. The dream was more than just a whimsical fantasy—it was a reflection of his own journey. Just like Indiana Jones, he was on a quest, facing obstacles, seeking treasure, and discovering the true meaning of his pursuits.

I’ve never felt worthy where others see my worth.” he said, glancing back to the crown, “I have been scraping by with the bare minimum for so long when it comes to my career. I’ve put in all this hard work for...what exactly?

“That, my son, is for you to figure out. The journeys we take are never as simple as stepping out and facing what we fear the most,” the Knight simply stated with a heavy breath. But something changed in the room, a sense of danger and doom, “You can continue to fight for those that you love but when will you begin to fight for you, boy?”

Miles looks up, the sweat from his forehead, running down his face, his blue-green eyes shimmering, not looking back, “All I need is one shot, and I promised that this time. I. WON’T. MISS!

We hear a roar from across the room, the knight obviously taking some more monstrous form and Indiana Kasey quickly unholsters his gun and whip all in one swoop and takes a quick aim and fires.

And just then the scream of Ilsa from the movie as she falls to her inevitable death wakes Miles up with a start. He’d only been asleep for about 20 minutes but it went unnoticed...at least he was pretty sure it did. He looked up at Carter who looked back at him.

Enjoy your cat nap, Indy?

Miles just groans, “Oh don’t tell me I’ve begun talking in my sleep.

Carter sits back and smiles at his boyfriend, “What would you say if I told you that you have been doing that a lot longer than just tonight?

It Always Comes Back Around

Inside a dimly lit room, Miles Kasey paces back and forth, his mind abuzz with thoughts of the upcoming match against Austin James Mercer. The tension is palpable, and his emotions are running high.

Alright, Miles, focus. This is it. The moment you've been waiting for, the clash with Austin. It's not just about a spot in the King of the Day match; it's about so much more.” he pauses for a brief moment, “It's about confronting the past, the hurt, the anger, and finding a way forward.

He stops pacing and looks into the mirror, staring at his reflection, as if trying to gather strength from within. Miles' eyes brighten with conviction, “We were brothers once, Austin and I, part of the same pack, the Wolfslair. But somewhere along the way, things fell apart. The bitterness, the resentment... It consumed us, and the bond we had was shattered.

He clenches his fists, remembering the pain of their falling out. He speaks softly, “Carter... he saw something in me that I couldn't see in myself. He helped me find my way back, to rediscover who I truly am. But Austin... he sees Carter as a distraction, a threat to our brotherhood and even strangely to my career because apparently we’re all supposed to suffer in a cloak of loneliness like he has.

He takes a moment to collect his thoughts, his determination growing. Miles' face shows resoluteness, “But I won't let this rivalry define us. I won't let it destroy what we once had. We need to talk, to lay everything out on the table, no holds barred. Maybe then, we can find a way to heal, to mend the cracks in our foundation.

Miles takes another deep breath, steeling himself for the confrontation, “I know it won't be easy. There will be anger, frustration, and pain, but we need to face it head-on. We can't keep running from our past, from our mistakes.

The Wolfslair means something to me, to us. And I won't let these petty differences tear it apart. Whether we walk out of that match as friends or foes, I'm willing to face the consequences.” He glances at the Wolfslair emblem on his gear, a symbol of their brotherhood. “Whatever happens, I'll do whatever it takes to protect what we once had. The bond that made us strong as a pack. We may not be on the same page now, but maybe, just maybe, we can find our way back to each other.

Miles takes one last look at the mirror, determination radiating off his entire being, “This match in Amman will be more than just a battle; it'll be a turning point. For myself, for Austin, and for Wolfslair. I'm ready to face whatever comes our way.

For a moment silence fills the room before a gust of wind comes out of nowhere and we see a familiar brown fedora fly in and come to a rolling stop right next to Miles' feet. He smirks and bends down and picks it up.

The adventure is the journey, it never ends. You can get everything you have ever wanted in life, all the money, all the gold. You can find the rarest of items that are the most precious in the world and the adventure continues even after it. I can beat you Austin and you could beat me.  Hell we could probably spill blood in the desert just to add to what has already fallen here, but I have already told you. And I’m going to beat it into your head, my next shot...

He places the fedora on the top of his head and smirks similar to the hero he represents.

I won’t miss.

How Far Have You Come?

Last Year
Miles Kasey had found himself at a loss as he mindlessly strolled through the Sun Princess. Through all the stress of his sister Brianna giving birth two weeks early, rushing back to home to be at her side when she had complications and legit every other fucking thing that was going wrong in his life.

At least it felt that way at that particular moment.

He was dealing with his heart and his mind being played with for almost an entire two months and quite frankly he was over it at this point. He was numb, he was drunk and despite some trying to tell him to call peace, go to the cause of his issues, he just wanted to clear his head and let his own thoughts make it even worse.

He was in a battle with himself.

Miles vs. Milo

Milo wanted nothing more than to go to the cause of the majority of his problems, try and work it out and continue to take it on the chin, feeling like he was the reason for all their problems. Some would have called it a fear of being alone, and honestly at that time, they would’ve been right.

Miles though wanted to just wash his hands of the entire fucking situation. The jealousy, the gaslighting and making him feel less than was more than enough for him to just be absolutely done with the whole situation and lesser people would have walked away even way before now.

As Miles found a secluded spot on the deck of the Sun Princess, the cool ocean breeze brushed against his face, offering a momentary respite from the chaos consuming his mind. The ship sailed through the night, the gentle rocking motion mirroring the turmoil within him.

But there was something else, a gnawing ache deep within him that he couldn't ignore. One who yearned for resolution, for reconciliation, for the chance to mend what was broken. And the part of him that had grown tired of the toxicity and manipulation, craving freedom from the chains that bound him. Each memory stung, reminding him of the pain he had endured.

As he sat there, the emptiness of his own thoughts echoed around him. It was in that quiet solitude that he knew a decision had to be made. He couldn't continue down this path of uncertainty and self-doubt. He deserved better. And deep down, he knew it.

Miles?” he heard a voice call out to him, a familiar and friendly voice that came from Bella Madison. He knew she would mean well seeking him out but now was not the time. She was a name on the list of his fuck-ups that he has made.

All Miles could do was look up at her through his somewhat drunken haze and if there was a textbook picture for the way one would look when they pitied someone, that would be the current look Bella was giving him, “Hey, people are getting really worried about you.

So they sent you to find me?” Miles laughed, “This has to be the wildest form of ‘This is Your Life and how you fucked it up.’ Is Ness right around the corner?

You really think she wouldn’t have been thrown overboard by now if she was?” she said as she sat down next to him, nudging him a little bit, “They figured I would be the safest one to talk you down off the proverbial ledge. K would just pour more liquor down your throat, Mal has all the subtlety of a sherman tank and Lach is too busy trying to impregnate Si.

They sit in silence for a moment before Miles just takes a deep sigh, “Have you seen her?

Becca? No, I haven’t but I saw the tweets. Miles, I can almost hear your brain right now and I can tell you that not dealing with it is only making it worse.” Bella reaches over and makes Miles look at her, “If you want to get through the rest of the cruise in any form of peace then you need to take the initiative and figure out what you really want.

Miles shakes his head and almost looks completely freaked out for a moment, a rare sign of weakness in a man that is usually strong, but when you get berated for so long, “I just don’t know if I have it in me to...

You have all the strength in the world, Milo. What you lack is the understanding that there are several people on this boat that are genuinely caring about you and worried. This whole thing has done nothing but distract you and turned you into a miserable bastard since you found out.” Bella said sitting back, “You deserve to be happy and I can tell right now that you are not happy. I want you to be able to come back here next year, with whomever you are with and truly be 100% happy.

Miles peaks over at her, “So you’re saying I should end it?

Bella just sits there with her hands folded in front of her and you can tell she’s fighting what is at the tip of her tongue, “We’re friends, so while I want to tell you what you should do, I will not do that. All of this that you are going through, the Miles I know would never accept something like this. Lay it out with her, beyond the twitter battle. If it feels right then try, but I miss the cocky adorable Miles that I’ve seen shining through with your interactions with Zoey and Carter.

Miles sits up a little straighter before sighing and slumping back in his chair, “But it’s that guy that caused this.

Bella growls and stands up, putting her hands on her hips and glares at him, “And if she doesn’t accept you for what you really are, then is it even meant to be? Through all my flaws, through all of Malachi’s Oscar like demeanor, we accept and love each other unconditionally. Maybe your happiness isn’t with Becca and who knows, maybe that very person, whomever they may be is right here on this boat just as fucking miserable as you are.

Miles laughs, “I highly doubt that.

Just...” Bella grabs his stubbled stubborn face, “Don’t let the fear of being alone dictate how happy you should really be.” With that she gave him a kiss on the top of his head, “And get a shower, you smell exactly like that jet fuel that K’s been giving you.

She goes to step away and he keeps a hold of her hand to catch her attention and he gives it an appreciative kiss, “Thanks Bells.

And with that she lets him be. Miles just sat there for a moment before he pushed himself up to a wobbly vertical stance and he grips the railing and closes his eyes trying to balance himself. As he opened his eyes, the stars twinkled above, and he looked up.

Let me get the next one right, wontcha?

Almost a Year Later
This past Tuesday

Practically in the same spot Miles and Carter enjoyed their time watching the sunset. Almost a whole year had passed and since January the duo was proudly together and happy. They loved to spoil each other, goofing around, there was plenty of laughter and love in the home they shared, even if Carter kept saying that it was Miles’ place and he just lived there ‘for now’.

Carter kept Miles on his toes while Miles kept Carter grounded.

What made it better is while Miles barely remembered the significance of the spot, his heart felt a whole lot fuller especially with the words that just came out of Carter’s mouth. There was no judgement from either one of them, no gaslighting and full on complete understanding.

And actual love.

He wasn’t going to push it any more than what he had heard tonight. For now, it was enough and definitely a sign of how far he had really come.

Bitch, Let’s Get Personal

The moonlight cast an ethereal glow on the deserted deck of the majestic cruise ship, where Miles Kasey found himself standing alone. The silence surrounding him offered solace and a momentary respite from the chaos that awaited him. He took a deep breath, allowing the salty breeze to invigorate his spirit as he gathered his thoughts.

"Peter Vaughn," Miles spoke softly, the determination in his voice resonating through the night. "It seems you just can't resist the opportunity to run your mouth, can you? Always trying to get under my skin, to belittle my accomplishments and remind me of past encounters. But let me remind you of something, Peter: sometimes history repeats itself, and this time, the outcome will be different."

A flicker of confidence danced in Miles' eyes as he recalled their previous battles, the draws and close calls that had defined their rivalry. He refused to let those stalemates overshadow his determination to emerge victorious this time.

"While you boast about our previous battles," Miles continued, his voice growing stronger, "The draws and close calls, let me remind you that the last time we faced each other, you didn't defeat me either. So don't get too comfortable with those hollow W's."

His voice carried a hint of defiance, fueled by the setbacks and disappointments he had experienced. Every stumble along the way had only ignited a fire within him, a relentless drive to succeed.

"Yes, I've had my setbacks, my disappointments," Miles acknowledged, his voice unwavering. "And there isn't a single asshole who won't constantly remind me of that... BUT each one has only fueled my determination to succeed."

The thought of Peter Vaughn's Roulette Championship victory lingered in his mind, but Miles was resolute in his belief that it didn't make his opponent invincible. He knew his true strength lay in his talent, perseverance, and the unwavering support of his fans.

"And as for your remarks about cheating," Miles stated firmly, "It's ironic coming from someone who associates himself with a troll. But let me assure you, Peter, I don't need weapons or underhanded tactics to win. I rely on my skill, my determination, and the unbreakable bond I share with my fans."

Miles' gaze shifted to the open expanse of the pool, the ultimate battleground for their forthcoming Ultimate X match. The very thought of it, the freedom it provided, stirred a fire within him that burned brighter than ever.

"You talk about Ultimate X and the freedom it provides," Miles declared, his voice brimming with confidence. "But let me tell you something, Peter: it's not about the weapons or the stunts; it's about the heart, the determination, and the will to overcome any obstacle. And in that regard, I am unstoppable."

A wry smile played on Miles' lips as he allowed himself a moment of levity amidst the intensity of their impending clash.

"Oh, and Gabriel," he interjected, a mischievous glint in his eye, "Do us all a favor, bruv? Please, for the sake of everyone's sanity, do NOT wear a Speedo. No one has the money for that kind of therapy."

He chuckled to himself, briefly relishing the lightheartedness of the remark, before refocusing his thoughts on the grand spectacle that awaited them.

"But let me make it clear," Miles proclaimed, his voice resolute once more. "I am Summer XXXTreme personified. I will push myself to the absolute limit, shatter boundaries, and show the world what I'm truly capable of. This Ultimate X match will be a spectacle, a showcase of athleticism and passion that will leave the SCW universe in awe, just like I always do."

Miles looked out over the pool, envisioning the X hanging high above, symbolizing the ultimate prize. He knew that when the dust settled, it would be his hand grasping that championship, and Peter Vaughn would find himself crashing down, defeated and perhaps a little bit humbled.

"So prepare yourself, Peter," Miles concluded, his voice filled with unwavering determination. "The time for talking is over. It's time to step up, beat the unholy hell out of each other, and let our actions speak for themselves. And when the proverbial dust settles, when the X hangs high above that pool, it will be my hand clutching that championship, and your crash down— or in this case, SPLASH down— in defeat will be etched in SCW history."

With a final deep breath, Miles turned away from the railing, leaving behind the solitary serenity of the deck. He walked purposefully, ready to face the challenges that awaited him in the Ultimate X match, armed with an unyielding determination to regain something that he knew rightfully belonged to him, that 10 pounds of gold known as the SCW Roulette Championship.

A Night of Revelry

Back in the familiar streets of Las Vegas, Miles and Carter found themselves embracing the vibrant energy of the city that they call home. As the week unfolded, they relished in the comfort of their own space, finding solace in the routines that brought them a sense of stability, even with Ms. Thang and her never ending insanity as she chased shadows throughout their entire condo, amidst the tumultuous world of wrestling.

One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, Carter's eyes twinkled mischievously. "Let's shake things up tonight, Miles. How about we head to somewhere fun, like a nightclub? I want us to let loose, dance like nobody's watching, and well...I think celebrating that win you had this past week is definitely called for."

Miles grinned, thrilled by the prospect of a night out with Carter. "Sounds like a plan, love. If you are up for it, so am I. Let's paint the town."

They arrived at the lively bar, pulsating with a vibrant atmosphere. Rainbow flags adorned the walls, casting a colorful glow on the dance floor where bodies moved with an infectious rhythm. Carter didn’t need much convincing on his part to pull Miles out onto the floor, joining the throngs of people, surrendering to the music that reverberated through their souls.

As the night progressed, Miles found himself at the bar, ordering a round of drinks for himself and Carter. As he waited for the bartender to prepare their beverages, a figure sidled up next to him. The man, oozing confidence almost disgustingly so, attempted to engage Miles in conversation.

Miles' instinctive response was polite but clear, "Thank you, but I'm here with my boyfriend. Now, if you’ll pardon me."

Undeterred, the stranger persisted, undeterred. "Come on, don't you want to have some fun? I’ve been watching you all night and I gotta wonder what a beautiful individual like you is doing with that thing you have been dancing with all night."

Miles' resolve hardened, first the guy wouldn’t get the clue that he was obviously with someone but to insult Carter was enough that he almost bounced this guy’s face off the bar. He glanced discreetly toward where Carter stood, knowing that his boyfriend's attention was fixed on the situation. Carter's blue eyes twinkled with a blend of amusement and protective affection and even a small hint of worry for a brief moment.

Taking a deep breath, Miles maintained his composure, his voice firm. "Look bruv, as much as I appreciate the offer, I’m going to be absolutely abrupt and abrasive now. That beautiful man that you’ve seen me with all night? Well let’s just say that he has more than just my body. Why would I fuck that up for someone that has worked his way down the bar being automatically turned without even uttering a word and absolutely reeks of desperation? Even then, I would never, and I mean NEVER hurt him. I love him far too much." Miles went silent for a moment as the bartender arrived, giving him that knowing and appreciative look of dealing with this guy that won’t buy a hint. Miles took a moment to take a quick sip of his beverage and the guy went to try again as Miles just holds up his hand to stop him, look behind him for a moment and with a smirk, “And if I wasn’t clear enough...I wouldn’t even give you a toss, even with a stolen dick.

The stranger, knocked back by those final words and sensing the unwavering determination in Miles' eyes, backed off with his hands up, finally getting the point. Miles returned to Carter, their eyes meeting in silent reassurance. “You wanna tell me what that was about?” he asked.

Miles had to laugh, “He made an offer that had a worse chance than a snowball’s chance in hell and politely told him to fuck off.

Carter’s face turned even brighter with a smile, “You certainly have a way with words you know that?

One of my many charms, I’m told.” Miles said finishing his drink down in one shot, “That and a terrific ass.

Not one single lie told.” Carter said with admiration, “Maybe that's why we are seemingly the center of attention here.

Miles glances around and does see a dozen or so eyes on the couple, and that’s enough to make him only wrap his free arm around Carter and pull him close, “Well ignore them, we’re having fun and that is all that matters.

They continued to revel in the joyful atmosphere of the club, dancing with abandon, their bond growing stronger with each shared moment.

Carter, though careful not to make it obvious, admired Miles' unwavering loyalty. He was grateful for every single moment they shared and the trust that allowed them to navigate such encounters gracefully. He squeezed Miles' hand, a silent gesture of affirmation and gratitude.

As the night came to an end, Miles and Carter left the bar, their hearts full and a renewed appreciation for their unwavering connection. They walked hand in hand through the glittering streets of Las Vegas, the city's vibrant lights mirroring the joy and resilience that radiated from their spirits...if not a little from the alcohol they consumed.

Their jovial moods had them laughing as they walked along the desert night air, and occasionally Miles couldn’t help but do something goofy to bring laughter from his boyfriend. In that moment, Miles realized that his journey toward redemption wasn't solely about wrestling victories. It was also about staying true to himself, upholding the love he had found in Carter, and remaining steadfast in the face of distractions.

Ultimate Test

Miles paced back and forth in the living room of his condo, the weight of the upcoming Ultimate X match for the Roulette Championship bearing down on him. He gathered his gear, carefully selecting his attire and inspecting the specialized gear designed to withstand the splash in the pool below.

Miles, visibly frustrated, slams it down into his bag that has been designated specifically for his wrestling gear, "I've been here before, facing this damn Ultimate X match for the Roulette Championship. It feels like it's become a recurring nightmare at Summer Xxxtreme."

He glanced at the tree outside, a familiar sight that marked the approach of the event.

"That tree, it's a constant reminder of the challenges that lie ahead." Miles shook his head, recalling his previous encounters and the frustration of coming up short each time. "This time will be different. I've grown, I've changed. I won't let history repeat itself."

As he packed his gear, Miles couldn't help but express his disbelief and confusion regarding Gabriel's involvement in the match. "BUT with that I have to focus upon the men that will join me in this match. And first, I gotta get this out...Gabriel, WHAT IN THE ABSOLUTE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU EVEN DOING IN THIS MATCH?!?! The only thing I have ever seen you hold on for dear life to is a snack cake and one of those jumbo sized cups of Mtn. Dew. No offense mate but you can barely pull yourself up out of bed, let alone hang over a pool, pull yourself across to get to that Roulette Title."

With a mix of concern and amusement, Miles envisioned the potential chaos that Gabriel's participation might bring.

"Well, at least we'll get to see his mom again. She deserves all the respect. But Gabriel? I don't know how he made it into this match. Not gonna lie, mate. I’m scared for you because you could seriously get hurt but my God...imagine the splash in that pool? They’re gonna have to have an emergency refill on stand-by whenever Peter finally falls, just so he doesn’t get seriously hurt or potentially die."

Miles shifted his focus to his greatest rival in the match, Peter Vaughn. He reflected on their previous encounters, the defeats he had endured, and the burning desire for redemption.

"Yeah Peter, you heard me right. When YOU fall. Bruv, we have been back and forth and not one single time have I been able to find a moment of victory over you and it can be absolutely maddening to a normal bloke. Luckily for you, I’m not remotely normal and I’m fairly certain I’m already a little off my rocker. And you are finding yourself quite stretched don’t ya? Got yourself in a little pickle. Not only do you have to deal with myself...and Gabriel, I guess...but you have to put a whole lot of focus into the rebirth of the mixed tag titles."

You’re not going to put the whole thing on Kim getting you through that madness but how does one prepare mentally for what could be the longest night of hell in your life? I do hope that you have yourself a backup set of gear because I’m going to be the one to knock you off of that pedestal.

He zipped up his bag, his expression a mix of determination and confidence.

I need you to focus, Peter. I need you to understand that this isn’t like the other times you and I faced off and you knocked me down. You see, last year, my head was anywhere but on that ship. Last year, I was at my absolute lowest and I didn’t care. I deserved that pain. That whole 3 weeks before we even boarded that ship, I was so close to saying ‘fuck it all’ and just give up. Now, I’m out for redemption, I’m out for blood and I’m out to get back what is rightfully mine.

That’s right, I’m a different type of thirsty now. I’m about to become a 2-time Roulette Champion, and I’m sorry Kim but you may very well be working with a broken partner when he comes back, broken and titleless.

As he took a deep breath, Miles knew the challenges ahead would test him both physically and mentally. But he found solace in his unwavering determination and the support of those who believed in him.

The condo was quiet, sans Ms. Thang’s small meow and purring as she laid stretched out on the bed, a sanctuary for Miles as he mentally prepared himself before they departed for the trip to the Princess Cruise, leaving behind any doubts or fears that might hinder his path to redemption.

« on: June 16, 2023, 11:56:04 PM »
It’s not every day that you get the chance to really show someone just how much they truly mean to you.

Just Another Day

It was something that Miles had heard time and time again for the last month when it pertained to Carter’s 24th birthday. Despite that statement though that Carter echoed every time Miles would try and get out of his adorable boyfriend what he wanted for his birthday, the plans were in place 2 weeks before they even got to Climax Control in Phoenix.

It was almost too fun to keep him in suspense from the details. From the moment that Miles got off the call that Carter walked in on, suspicions set in. It only got worse when as the special day approached and questions began to be asked about plans, Miles made sure to tell everyone and anyone that they would be otherwise occupied. Sunday Night through Thursday Morning was completely accounted for and there was not one single soul that was allowed to interfere in any of it. If he had felt brave, he would have even told people that their phones would have been off but that would have only led to him being yelled at.

After a private conversation with a few people, they all understood the assignment. Mum was the word and they would have plenty of opportunity to celebrate another year around the sun for Carter later in the week.

Miles even had an evil little thought to send his boyfriend on a scavenger hunt in Phoenix, especially after the night before when Carter tried to pry it out of him. Alas there wasn’t enough time and he let the whole thing dangle out there like a carrot and a few adorable pouts.

Mind you, he thought the whole damn thing would go to hell when Carter was doing a meet and greet and the man that has basically been stalking him for the last month once again showed up. What the hell did that guy do? Cash in all his frequent flyer miles to stalk the son that he walked away from?!? This guy seemed to make himself be seen whenever Miles wasn’t around, conveniently, saving himself from what would more than likely have been getting the man shoved against the wall and a long line of questioning...after some not-so-mild threatening.

Are you sure you’re okay?” Miles said after finally catching up with Carter inside of the catering area, trying to calm himself down.

Carter just sighs, “Yeah, I’m alright.” the young man said, almost waving off the whole thing.

Miles sighed in frustration, “You should have called for security. It’s obvious the man is stalking you at this point.

The look that Carter gave was like ‘you’re right but...’, “For showing up to multiple shows as a paying fan? We have people that follow us around the world, he hasn’t done anything to warrant that...

-Yet.” Miles holds his hands up, “Sorry, I’m being the protective boyfriend again.

Carter can’t help but smile, “Yeah, you are and still holding out on me about what you are even thinking about doing. Even trying to pack for whatever you have in mind gave me absolutely no clues.

Think? Nah, there is no thinking about it.” Miles smiles as his phone drops a tone that he has a message. His attention turns to that for a moment, and then stands up, “Ready?

For what?” Miles just holds out his hand and gives Carter a look, without a word spoken. After just a beat, Carter takes his hand and stands up with him.

And within the hour...

Again with the private plane?” Carter said settling into his seat, “Ok, seriously where are we going?

Well you can thank Laura for this one,” Miles said with a laugh, dropping his one bag beside him and getting set up for takeoff.

Carter just growls and runs his hands through his blonde hair with a ton of frustration, “MILES YOU ARE KILLING ME!

I am not, and you are being overly dramatic again,” the mischievous blue-green eyes shimmered as he reaches up and takes one of Carter’s hands in his, “Trust me, it is going to be worth it and you’ll understand why I kept it so quiet.

Hey, as secretive as you’ve been with him, I can’t blame him for it.” Laura Phoenix said as she came from the front of the plane to get herself ready for their flight, “We just got the clearance and are about to take off. Next stop, Knoxville.

Miles clasps his hands together like a giddy little kid, “Awesome, and thank you again for this. I hope you aren’t going out of your way...

Laura shrugs as she buckles in, “Actually it’s not. It’s a perfect refueling spot.

Refueling?” Carter asked while looking at Miles, “I’m so confused right now.

Laura just laughed as did Miles, “Will you put this boy out of his misery already? We’re not even in the air yet and I’m beginning to think he’s believing we’re gonna kidnap him.

Carter just sighs, “I don’t believe that, I’m sorry, Ms. Phoenix...I know I’m not being a great guest right now.

“Carter, call me Laura and trust me, I’m not the greatest about surprises either.” Laura sits back and thinks, “Neither is Bella now that I think about it.

No, she’s really not.” Miles says as he shakes his head as outside the window the plane is on the move down the runway and it gently lifts off the ground into the darkening Phoenix sky, “Well now that we’re finally on the way, I guess I can let it all out. Laura and the crew are giving us a lift to Knoxville, Tennessee, where when we depart we will be checking into a nice hotel room for the evening. Once we wake up, we’re going to get our rental and make our way to Pigeon Forge, TN where we will spend 3 nights at a private cabin not far from our actual destination...

Carter’s blue eyes grow big as he realizes what Miles is telling him, “You mean?

With that Miles reaches into his bag and pulls out his tablet, turning it on and opens the screen and hands it over to Carter, “You, my amazing deserving boyfriend, are about to check one off the bucket-list where you are going to spend your 24th birthday in Dollywood.

Are you- ...wait...What about Ms. Thang?!?” Carter asks which brings a fit of laughter from Laura.

Out of all the names for a cat in my life...” is all she gets out.

Is perfectly safe and currently annoying the hell out of K and Aron.” Miles said, showing him a picture from a text he got from Fenris about an hour ago, of her perched on his head and the most annoyed look on K’s face that brings a laugh from Carter, “Well, at least I hope she is...

As Miles tucks his phone into the side of him Carter just sits in silence for a moment, looking out the window in shock before he turns back and looks adoringly at Miles, “So...Dollywood?

Just you and me, babe.” Miles says as he grabs Carter’s hand again, “We’ll see mom and grams Thursday night to round out the week before we head to Yuma.

Carter just sits in a stun silence for a moment, “You really thought of everything.

That I did.” Miles says leaning towards him, “Happy?

Carter just nods and gives him a quick kiss, “Very.

The Road to Redemption

He remembers how it felt just a few short weeks ago when he lost the match for both he and Ally.

In his mind's eye, Miles stood at the edge of the wrestling ring, his gaze fixed on the formidable figure of Oliver Zahn. The memory of their match, a loss that had haunted him for weeks, burned fresh in Miles' mind. Determination surged through his veins as he clenched his fists, vowing to redeem himself. Eventually...

The countdown to Summer Xxxtreme XI, one the biggest wrestling events of the year, loomed only a couple of weeks away where he would be involved in that Roulette Title match. BUT, Miles knew that his upcoming rematch against Oliver Zahn was not just a chance to settle a personal score, but also a crucial stepping stone towards his ultimate goal of getting back to championship glory.

But before the grand stage of Summer Xxxtreme XI, Miles found himself in the enchanting town of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. He had planned this trip to coincide with Carter's birthday, a celebration and an opportunity to find peace in each other's company amidst the chaos of Miles' & Carter’s careers.

As the sun cast a warm glow over the picturesque landscape, Miles couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the Smoky Mountains that cradled the area. The lush greenery and majestic peaks seemed to whisper words of encouragement, as if nature itself knew the importance of this journey for Miles. In and amongst the trees was a quiet little cabin that was rented for just the two of them.

On the deck, Miles just sat quietly, trying to ease his mind, and kept trying to snap back to business when he should just be enjoying his time but sometimes... business before pleasure.

Carter's voice of the strewn of phone calls that he was getting on his birthday, broke Miles' reverie, drawing his attention back to the present moment.

Miles smiled, grateful for Carter's unwavering support. Ever since his trip up against Harris and Mercer and even more so against Zahn, Miles couldn’t help but feel like he was slipping into a place he didn’t want to go.

Just as it seemed like Carter was going to get a break, his phone would only go off again with another round of birthday wishes. Miles just stood up and motioned to Carter he was going to take a quick walk as to not to disturb him from his well deserved moment and Miles quickly descended the stairs and hoped that this would be enough. Last thing he needed was to ruin this trip with his own mental bullshit.

Miles stopped a short bit out, the cabin just over the ridge and he looked up, “Ok, we need to have a slight talk, you and I. I know that I haven’t always been the best but I am trying to enjoy a little R&R with that beautiful man, so if you could ever be so helpful as to help me get my shit together, that would be amazingly appreciated.

And as suspected, silence. Of course...we could never have the easy road could we? ...fucker.

Ok fine! I’ll admit that sometimes my brain isn’t as focused as it should be. *I* let Ally down in that match and I’m the one that got pinned. And now because of me, she’s in limbo. Course if I know that girl like I do, she won’t have any issue in finding herself something to do at Summer Xxxtreme but man, did you have to snap me back to reality so damn fast? I took Oliver WAY too lightly the first time and I should have known better seeing as he is under the learning tree from guys like Kris Ryan.

Miles gives a quick run of his hands through his curly locks and rubs the back of his neck.

My dumb ass thought, oh hey...this should be a walk in the fucking park and instead I had my ass stomped into the ground and once again, shitstains like Michael Harris get proven to be right.

That last line hit hard, he stops and growls out, obviously frustrated with himself and with things beyond his control.

How many times does it take to get the point through in the thick skull of Miles Kasey that hey, maybe he should actually pay attention? Apparently the answer is twice because I will be DAMNED if that shit happens to me again. What the hell does Oliver even have to prove in this match? He already kicked my ass, he’s got that Mixed Title Match set up and yeah it seems like beating me going into anything seems as it’s a right of fucking passage anymore but honestly, I completely fucking over it. They all know that I am more than just the sum of the things that I have done and yet, there are some out there that think I’m a joke.

He knows he’s ranting into the void but hey, at this point if it helps him get his shit together...just let him go.

Austin tried to warn me weeks ago and I didn’t see it until just now that through everything, all the pomp and the circumstance, all the glitz and glamor...I’m still just a tosser from Manchester that somehow got lucky enough to have juuuuust enough success in life to actually pull himself out from the gutter.

Miles slaps his forehead a couple of times like he’s trying to knock some sense into himself.

I have to get out of this street rat mentality and finally begin to believe in myself like the others do. Once I give Carter the absolute birthday of a lifetime, I’m going to go into Yuma with my mind finally so Goddamn clear and my heart set in making the statement against Oliver Zahn, that Peter Vaughn and the others that are in that match are going to actually understand that the shithead that they’ve seen finally snapped out of his awkward stage and finally showing them that the luck was for a reason, I can actually fucking learn and that people should actually be afraid when this head finally gets in-line with my heart and shows a lot of people just how wrong they’ve been about me.

A smirk grows...no...not a smirk...a sneer.

Olly has only begun to understand what he is facing and I’m out to redeem myself for my mistakes from the last time. I’ve already taken my punishment enough and I am going to go into Summer Xxxtreme with so much momentum it’s gonna make all their heads spin like a top. I’m not going to trash the guy because why? What’s the fucking point? He’s hella talent and that only means that I have to be that much better. I have to be quicker, lighter on my feet and not let myself get caught and dropped like before. Believe it or not...I CAN BE TAUGHT!

But I also am going in stronger, I’m going in with a chip on my shoulder...and I dare him...” Miles eyes shoot forward, “I DARE YOU OLIVER! ...knock it off...if you can.

From off in the distance we hear Carter calling out, “MILES!!! I’M FINALLY OFF THE PHONE! WE CAN GO NOW!

Miles just looks back and smiles, “If anything...I do this for him if not for me. I’m not going to be pushed around anymore.

And with that he begins his quick journey back for the real reason they are here...and that’s all you need to know for now.

What Do You Want From Me?
Following Into The Void XII
Trainers Room

The show was done, the fans had long filed out of the Copper Box Arena and the after party is just getting underway down towards catering.

But inside the room with the signed taped on the door that says “Trainers Room”, it’s still plenty active with one particular member of the main event that just wrapped up the show, and sent the fans home disappointed.

I’ve only been doing that since August 9th, 1994

On the table, getting the once over by one of the medical personnel was Miles Kasey, defeated in the match but the knot that is forming in the back of his melon gave him a sly little smirk behind a slight peng of pain as one of the assistants placed an ice bag on that spot.

That smarts.” Miles hissed out.

“Sorry, mate. Doc said to get it on ya, you more than likely have a slight concussion and that you’d know the routine by now.”

Miles reaches up and places his hand on top of it with a glare in his eye, “Thanks.

The trainer nods with a pat onto Miles’ back, “Take it easy for a couple of weeks and we’ll check in back in Vegas. Take all the time you need, but your family and Carter are waiting for you.”

And with that he’s by himself, with the ice pack already beginning to melt off his skin that is still overheated from the match, drips falling and rolling down his back. If there was ever a time he felt like he was so damn close to having it all together...there was a moment that he could have had it but instead...

Miles just let a heavy sigh out, driving all the air out for a moment, “Shit.

It was perhaps his greatest performance ever, only to be cut short by a pair of brass knucks by that asshole Michael Harris. He should have known he stuffed his drawers.

But it was done, for now at least...he’d get back there eventually but now he would get up off his ass and trudge down for a shower, a change of clothes, hugs and kisses and “You looked amazing.”, even though he didn’t currently feel that way, and would keep on keeping on the only way Milo knew how.

After enough time, and his arm being exhausted, he pulled the ice bag off the back of his head and during that, footfall came into the room and just stopped right behind Miles. As if he felt the presence, Miles didn’t even look. Instead he grabbed a towel and began to dry his body off, starting with the back of his head.

So congratulations, you were right.” Miles said as he ruffled the towel through his dirty blonde hair, “I was out of my depth. I gotta say though it was a hell of a performance and I took everything you both had.

No response from whomever was lurking in the room, behind him.

So what’s stopping you from taking the shot? Could it be you knowing that I’m beating myself up enough about it?” Miles laughed with a sour tone, “What’s nice is I don’t even have you tell you to save your pity. Cause I know you have none for anyone anymore, not even for yourself. You are going to let this roll off your back and sit back and just say “Milo fucked it up again.” But, GOD DAMMIT, I HAD TO KNOW!

Miles turned and comes face to face with Wolfslair brethren and one of the two men he just faced, Austin James Mercer. Austin’s face shows no emotion, not even a glimmer of cockiness. Miles stands there, slinging the towel over his shoulder before gripping the ice bag in his hand but never breaking eye contact.

Don’t worry Austin, I’ll let them all know you were right all along. But if you are looking for a fight, if you still wanna prove whatever point you may have left or teach me whatever lesson you want to teach me...now is not the time. I’m currently out of fucks to give and I have a massive ripping headache...so if you excuse me.

Miles goes to turn away and Austin quickly reaches out and grabs Miles at the wrist and turns him back around quickly, but he says nothing and just remains emotionless.

Miles just smirks and yanks his arm away, “Don’t worry Austin, we’ll get our time.

And with that Miles turns back around and walks out of the room, trashing the ice bag in the bin on his way out with Austin still standing there but for the first time in a long time, a smirk forms on his lips as he slowly follows Miles out of the room and watches as he vanishes into the distance.

Windfall Put To Good Use
Earlier this Past Week
The Home of Miles and Carter

It had been two weeks since he got his clearance with the caveat to take it easy for just a little while longer and that was perhaps a Godsend when it came to his mental health. The last tour had put him through the proverbial ringer from the start, so giving himself a couple more weeks where he could just focus on his health both physically and mentally was a gift.

But it also allowed him to grasp at a partially interesting opportunity when it came in the form of a recently revitalized division. Alexandra Callaway, in the little bit of time that he got to spend back in PWS, could easily be called a terrific addition to SCW’s Bombshell Division. The problem is sometimes, one can become their own worst enemy. Ally was hella talented and he knew it. So with the return of the Mixed Tag Division, maybe they can help one another. Getting Ally’s feet under her and getting his own ass back on track.

He wasn’t particularly worried about how they would work as a team, in fact he very much believed that they would shock a few people out there. She was experienced, nowhere near as green as his last tag partner, Morgan Baker. Not that Morgan was horrible, but he knew with Alexandra, she was more than capable of handling herself.

So the past week, they had talked. He couldn’t help but give her a little bit of the business about her attack on Bobbie but in the terms of singles competition they were each their own person. Hopefully that won’t come back to bite them in the ass, nor his never ending shit going on with Austin. In conversations that were had, they both agreed to meet up in Tucson and from there they would knock out the details. He felt confident that this would actually be a great thing for them both.

In that entire process though, Miles was focused on another task. Carter had been acting rather odd lately especially since the loft that had been Carter’s own personal hell, sold. One would have thought that having that monkey off his back would have calmed that beautiful man, but instead Miles saw that Carter was battling something internally. Miles confided in Carter’s grandmother, during her visit that between this and the appearance of Carter’s father, that he was worried. He knew all about the visits to the doctor that his boyfriend had been going to, and it was Carter’s thing to tell him about not the other way around.

Miles made sure it was about as normal as things could be, not letting on about him knowing but at the same time he felt like maybe it was time for another one of Miles Kasey’s special guarantee to knock him off his feet surprised, especially because in just 2 weeks, Carter’s birthday would be here. “It’s just another day,” Carter would say every time he’d try and get ideas but it just so happened, thanks to twitter and thanks to the windfall of one JT, that part of those funds would be used for Miles to give Carter the birthday he would remember for years to come.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast, Ms. Gordon.” Miles said looking at his tablet set up on a stand, “I know it was such short notice but I just wanna make sure that this is completely special.

On the tablet a live video was going, there a lovely woman with a small smile on her face laughed, “Well thankfully your email was very detailed in exactly what you were looking for and by some stroke of magic I was able to obtain not only those tickets BUT a very nice place for you to stay that is pretty much everything you were looking for. I’ve already gone out of my way to speak with the owners personally and they will be making sure that you are both set up for a wonderful time.”

Miles sighs in relief, “You have no idea how much that takes off my shoulders. You are a miracle worker and I’ll make sure to spread that around between all the friends.

“That’s how I love to do business, Mr. Kasey.” she laughed, “I will email you the details and such here as soon as I hang up, but it sounds like you are going to have an absolutely wonderful time and that your boyfriend is going to have a great birthday to remember.”

That’s the hope. He deserves it and then some, I just hope he realizes that when I surprise him with it all.” Miles knew it would go one way with Carter giving him a little bit of static about being spoiled, but this trip he had planned would scratch something off both of their bucket lists. Just then he heard the door to the condo opening, knowing that Carter was about to walk right in on his surprise, “I’d tell you more if I could but I have to go but send me all of that when you can and thank you once again.

“Anytime, Mr. Kasey, and it shouldn’t take me too long. Have a great rest of the day.”

You as well.” And just as he ended the call he looked over to see Carter walking into the living room, “Hey! Everything go good?

Carter seemed exhausted but at the same time happy. Miles turned off his tablet just as Carter dropped onto the seat next to him, “About as well as it could. Who were you just speaking with?

Miles saw him pointing to the tablet for a moment before he reached over and pulled Carter onto his lap, “Hmm? Oh, just someone helping me out with a solution to a problem I’ve been dealing with. Got it all solved though.

Hey, if Carter had his secrets, so could he...at least for a little while longer.

Well that’s a good thing. Seems to have put you in a mood.

A great mood! So good, in fact, that I am willing to let you pick the menu for tonight AND the choice of viewing and even the location if need be.

Carter’s eyes light up, “Ooo, really?!? Would it be awful if we tried that new Thai place, down the road? I’ve been hearing pretty good things.

Miles just laughed and shook his head before giving his beautiful boyfriend a kiss, “Anything you want tonight, love, you got it.

Carter just lets out a sigh, “You spoil me way too much, you know that?

And give me a reason as to why you don’t deserve it and I’ll stop immediately...but until then accept your fate and find us a menu.

I Have No Regrets

We see Miles sitting inside his condo, late at night. Carter is fast asleep so he’s tucked himself into a space where he can get this out in this latest video to the SCW faithful. His blonde curls are maybe all over the place, but he’s still looking focused and if anything a little anxious to get this out.

A lot of people said that I was quite out of my mind when I decided to take on two of the biggest names that SCW had to offer back all those weeks ago and truth be told, I may have been out of my depth but there is absolute no fucking way that anyone can deny that I didn’t make an impact. Not even Michael Harris, with all that swagger can deny it and you can hear it in his voice when he even whispers my name that he knows that he was granted a reprieve.

A smirk forms on his lips with a small laugh to follow. He knows he’s gotta let that go but it was good to get it out nonetheless.

But that was then, we have moved on to something new. You see, I know that I have found something amazingly special in my partner for the revitalization of the Mixed Tag Division. In the many convos that I’ve held with the glorious Alexandra Callaway, we both came to agreement. We are a team, win or lose, we will have each other's backs and there is something refreshing in that.

He runs his hands through his hair, a couple of times to fluff it out and not helping whatsoever to it’s devil-may-care insanity it currently holds but he doesn’t care about it right now. You can tell he’s deep into a thought, how he wants to word what he wants to say next.

See, I think it’s why things didn’t work out in things like Blast from the Past, for me the year before and for her this year. Blast from the Past is something that, while you need to work as a unit, at the end of the day it is all about a singular purpose instead of a team purpose. I know Ally still kicks herself for what happened but sometimes, it just doesn’t quite work out and that is okay. She’s been around long enough in other places to know that sometimes all you have to do is find yourself a route that is going to get you where you want to go.

Miles becomes extremely expressive with his face and his hands as he continues on, looking to Sunday and what may be beyond that.

So here we are, and we begin our little journey as we stand across the ring from Oliver Zahn and Eiley. Now I’m sure that Ally has covered all she has needed to when it comes to the women’s side of things but OZ, I need to focus on you. You don’t know just how fucking lucky you are, bruv. You somehow managed to survive Austin James Mercer just a couple weeks ago when you know damn well the man has got a whole lot of score to settle. Not with anyone in particular at this point, well...maybe me...but at this point he is looking to go toe to toe with GOD and you managed to walk out relatively unscathed.

Miles sort of winces, remembering Austin and Oliver’s match and Mercer getting himself DQ’d. As if he relived the match from Into the Void a bit where he got his ass handed to him on several occasions during it.

I hope you went home and thanked whatever the hell you believe in at that point. And truth be told, mate...you are not going to have so much a great time with me. You see, my outlook on certain things have changed. I also happen to love to prove a whole ass motherfucker wrong, and I know that there are people that are just waiting for me to trip up again. But not anymore. You see, where Austin is chaotic madness, I’m just chaotic with my shit just a tad bit more together. I’m not going to let any antics get in my way or Ally’s way for us to get to Summer Xxxtreme into that Fatal Fourway.

Miles leans forward, putting his arms on the table in front of him, those blue-green eyes giving a little mischievous wink.

You are going to have to believe in not just yourself, but your partner to get to that point. We’re new, yes. But I need you to note that you are heading into a match with a team that has a couple of people that want nothing more than to be the best. I’m sure you two are the same in some form but after everything that I have been through and that Ally has been through, people should be intimidated, if not a little scared, because you have no idea just how far we will go to to claim what will be ours.

And with that he reaches up and presses a button and the screen goes black. No more to say, and ready for what may come.
