| Journey Entry |

THE BLACK WOLF! I don’t think anyone would have sawn what happened a few weeks ago on Thursday Night Showdown. A man returning to the professional wrestling world and looking to progress in the tournament, having left in mysterious circumstances over half a decade ago, facing the masked Mexican luchadore in what turned out to be a losing effort. In the main event of Showdown it was the man who eliminated him and me standing one side of the ring, the black wolf and the giant Andreas Bergfalk standing on the opposite side. No one knew where my allegiances lied in the match, allowing my opponents to destroy Eternidad and I stand idly by whilst they did so or I fight alongside my opponent at the iShow, trying to defeat them to prove why we are the tournament finalists. I think people realised that I wasn’t going to allow Bergfalk and Wolf the win, and I did everything I could to prevent this from happening; I even tried a manoeuvre that isn’t in my repertoire. The Single legged Boston Crab. To say we won would be an understatement as I locked the move in onto the unsuspecting black wolf, the pain sprawled on his face and his hand slapping the canvas with as much force as he possibly can, the bell rung and Eternidad and myself won the big main event on Christmas Night with the iShow a few short weeks away.

Only I didn’t let go..

I knew in my mind that we had won. I heard the mat being slapped and felt the force in the soles of my boots, I heard the bell being rung and Bruno Matteo standing before me telling me to let go, but the only thing I wanted to do was make a statement to Eternidad and the powers that be in SCW. I felt in my hands the bone rubbing, the sickly sound of the crack still resurfaces in my memories now, the bloodcurdling cries that came from Black Wolf may haunt me for the rest of my days. The Black Wolf’s back is broken and he won’t be stepping into the six sided ring again. I thought that my message was clearly sent but it didn’t create a big enough ripple. Breaking the back of a wrestler who probably was on ASW’s deaths door anyway, I might as well have gone out of the ring to grab Max Burkes pencil and snapped that in two, that would have caused more of a stir than what I did on Christmas Night. FUCK SAKE

How to up the ante

I thought I should explain why I did what I did on New Year’s Day edition of Showdown, maybe people missed what I had done with it being Christmas and all, perhaps then they’ll take notice of me as I give explanation of my heinous act against Black Wolf. I stood backstage as an observer and watched the action on a small monitor, wondering when I should go out there to explain my actions, after each match I saw an opportunity but it didn’t feel right. Then I watched Andreas enter the ring followed by Eternidad himself and with the roulette wheel being carried passed me… the moment felt right! I prevented the first ever Roulette Division match happening in ASW, I hijacked the main event of ASW by making it my own moment, laying Andreas and Eternidad down for the count and even locking in the single legged boston crab  submission once more. Why not rub more salt in by locking in Eternidad’s own signature hold too. Sure I didn’t explain my actions but who saw the big revenge match not even taking place? Who saw little ole me coming in and laying them all to waste? The first ever ASW show of 2015, the first main event of that show, a monumental moment in ASW history and it was all taken away by the awkward soul. My seemingly adopted moniker now…

Ladies and Gentleman, the winner of this contest and NEW Arizona State Wrestling Heavyweight Champion is..

Oh How I’d like the end of that sentence to say Owen James.

Eight men have turned to just two and those two will wrestle at Sin City Wrestling’s first iShow of 2015, Inception. History will be made that night as we’ll be the first ASW wrestlers to compete in SCW and one of us will leave as the inaugural ASW Champion.

I intend that to be me!

By defeating Andreas Bergfalk and The Black Wolf, excluding recent signings in ASW of Seth Drayton and Johnny Tsunami, I have defeated majority of the roster now excluding two. One being Chris Mosh, who’s been dubbed the golden boy of ASW, the other being my opponent at Inception and one time tag partner. Eternidad. I am sure Mosh and I will encounter soon enough but it is a far and distant thought. My focus is solely on the masked Luchador. I have said it countless times that I don’t think anyone expected Eternidad and myself to grace the finals of the tournament, defeating firm favourites along the way, to say that these light heavyweights at best is going to be the first Heavyweight Champion may be classed as an insult. Most will laugh whilst others will question but we’ve both earned our opportunities to hold the championship gold, both of us have proven that we’re the best ASW has to offer, that wrestling at an SCW event will heighten the profile of Arizona State Wrestling and catch the eyes of oblivious wrestlers. Let’s face it most of the SCW know of ASW but little have taken an interest in us, viewing people on social media and attending Climax Controls, they don’t take note nor attribute ASW’s guys as being worthwhile compared to SCW. THAT WILL CHANGE!

I heard that we might be the opening match of Inception, first official match of 2015 for SCW, we’ll be showcasing the ASW and I indent to be the one victorious. I know that being the first match is going to be overshadowed (just like Tim Staggs is to his father) over the inception of the Internet titles and other title defences of all SCW belts, but I won’t let the ASW Heavyweight Title match be overshadowed. I will be a future SCW competitor. Eternidad, Andreas and others will also be looking to progress into the promotion just like myself, I not only want this championship and make a statement to the owners, I want to make everyone aware that ASW is a force to be reckoned with and that begins at Inception.

I will be the inaugural Arizona State Wrestling Champion!

Eternidad will fall at the final hurdle.

The name that everyone will remember..

The name that people will look to replicate..

The man that sets the standards for all ASW competitors to follow..

That man, that name is…

Owen James!

I will see you in England, Mate.

Stepping through the certain had never been more liberating. Although he had been asked to explain why he had decided to break the back of a fellow competitor, he wasn’t meant to interrupt the scheduled main event let alone hijack proceedings, leaving the Wildman of ASW and his iShow opponent lying sprawled in the centre of the ring. Owen walks with an air of confidence as Staff, Officials and medical personal rush past him to attend the fallen wrestlers. “JJ is pissed with you” Says a young women passing Owen by, a look of grimace on her face as she grabs a coffee cup, Owen smirks as she begins to pour the dark liquid into the cup. Owen may have finally made his mark in the memory of ASW fans.

Ever since day one all he had ever wanted was to be recognized. Attending Climax Controls with nothing more than a glance, even at Showdown’s he wasn’t given the time of day by fans or staff alike, it seems that when he broke the back of the Black Wolf and destroying Andreas & Eternidad that finally he had arrived.

Owen passed by the young women and walks into the changing area for the wrestlers, unlike at Climax Control where certain stars had their own dressing rooms, certain areas are designated to ‘talent’ and Owen had a chair for his bag in the far end of the area. Passing through people whilst glancing at their faces, looking for a reaction or even acknowledgement at what he had just done, but they continued with their own duties and not giving Owen any attention whatsoever. Slightly disconcerted as he scans the room for monitors, laptops or tablets that show what is happening in the ring. They were all focused, in real time, showing attendants attending the two within the six sided ring. This shouldn’t be. Owen decides to brush passed a few of them in the hope they react, banging into shoulders and jogging the balance of a male as he bends over to pick something up. Nothing.

Owen’s confidence had been deflated with a prick of a needle, deflating with every step, he thought he might have made his mark but all he did was build his own self-esteem. And for what? If other competitors didn’t take notice, the fans weren’t cheering him or even booing him, he hadn’t got any merchandise on sale for extra revenue. Owen had noticed the replica Eternidad masks, Wildman & party boy t-shirts, DVD’s available of the first Thursday Night Showdown and other memorabilia, nothing especially for him on sale. Yet he potentially could be the first ASW Champion. Had his presence been so insignificant?

Owen steps through to his bag to see a white envelope perched neatly on it. He looks around to see if anyone was watching him, but as usual nobody was, he picks it up and places his bag onto the floor beside his left foot. Owen notices that there is a strong scent emulating from it. Taking a cautious sniff before closing his eyes and inhaling as much as he can, he’d not smelt such a beautiful smell before, he had noticed the perfume from some of the women competing in ASW and this wasn’t one of them. Owen opens his eyes and carefully peals the envelope open, pulling a folded bit of paper out, Owen carefully places the envelope onto his lap and unfolds the slip of paper.

Owen,
Sorry I couldn’t give you this in person but I am a very busy person.
I’ve left you something at your hotel, I hope you enjoy them; I picked them especially for you.
See you soon.
- D

He rereads the note several times before placing the note back into the envelope, taking another intake from the beautiful scent, Owen looks around before he sticks his tongue out and runs it around the rim of the opened flap. Trying to get a taste from the lips that sealed it, swallowing and tasting but all he could get was the adhesive, Owen didn’t mind as he places the envelope into his jacket pocket. Quickly grabbing his bag to make an exit, going past more staff but they don’t acknowledge him, pushing the door of the nearest fire escape and heading out into the darkness. Owen walks down the side of the Center until he reaches the front where many of the fans where leaving, Owen overhears some of them talking about his actions at the end of the show, his heart skips a beat in excitement. Owen steps out and walks amongst the fans, overhearing more comments about Owen, even the negative comments about him being defeated by Eternidad didn’t knock him back. They fuelled the fire even more.

Owen walked back to the La Quinta Inn & Suites, he could have gotten a taxi but the traffic outside the Randolph was ridiculous, it would have taken the same amount of time to get here as it would have done by driving. Plus he saved money. Owen walks into the reception area of the La Quinta and over to the desk, currently unoccupied, Owen presses the bell on the counter casually. Standing there whilst looking around the foyer but after a little while he presses the bell frantically until a women walks out of the office.

”My gosh, I’m sorry” She says holding back a yawn. “I di-“ before she could finish the sentence she lets out a long yawn. “I’m so terribly sorry, that was completely unprofessional of me”

“N-n-not a problem, Madame” Even though Owen was frantic in pressing the button, the awkwardness of talking to women rears its ugly head, trying to compose himself before continuing on. “I-I do believe there is a package for me”

The receptionist looks at the man before her befuddled. “Are you a guest here?”

Owen wants to bang his head against the desk as he closes his eyes, envisioning his forehead smashing against it before flying towards the receptionist; he opens his eyes as he lets out a long exhale of breath. “Yes I am a guest, been here for the past three or four weeks, you say good morning and evening to me all the time?” Owen looks at her for any recognition. “I use the gymnasium when it’s quiet?” Still seeing that there is nothing clicking in the receptionists eyes, Owen pulls out a set of keys from his pocket, placing the room key onto the counter as the receptionist glances down at them.

“AH” She looks at Owen trying to remember him but cannot place him. “Yes it’s..” The receptionist presses a few keys on her keyboard, trying to be subtle but Owen had already notices, she glances at the screen. “Mister James! Yes we’ve got something for you, a box I believe, let me retrieve that for you!” She wonders back off into the back and comes back a few seconds later holding an unmarked brown box, large in size as she places it down onto the counter, she looks at Owen with a smile on her face. “There you go. I wonder if it’s a belated Christmas present?”

Owen grabs the box and heads off down towards his room, uninterested in getting into unnecessary conversation with her, he places the box down onto the ground once he reaches his room and opens the door. Owen flicks the light switch on before picking his box up, walking through the doorway as he kicks the door shut, walking over towards his bed and places the box on it. James chucks his bag into a nearby chair, his keys onto the table and flicking his boots off, his concentration and wonder is on the box that is on his bed. Owen paces up and down wondering who it is from, what is inside, whether he should or shouldn’t open it, however temptation and curiosity got the better of him as he rips the brown tape off the lid and looks inside. A smile appears on his face as he pulls out a piece of paper with the same scent wafting up his nose.

Enjoy. X

| On Camera / Revisiting the scene of the crime |

It was the very next day after Showdown, the show had become viral, ASW crew had begun dissembling the ring and staging for other functions that the Randolph Center holds. Owen hadn’t gotten much sleep from the night before but had a need to see the ring, make sure that it wasn’t a weird dream that he dreamt in his dazed state, wanting to see the Roulette Wheel and where it spun on if the match had happened. Owen thought he might have to sneak in but no one was paying any attention towards him, he wondered straight in to see the ring had pretty much gone, all that was left where the ring ropes and padding. Owen walks over to the stage and stares up at the roulette wheel, looking at all the different match types, glancing up to see that it had landed on a match that Andreas Bergfalk would of loved. He smirks as he sits on the stage watching the crew work, a part time cameraman notices Owen sitting there, he rushes into the back and comes back out holding a camera. Stepping down the aisle as he focuses on Owen’s face, Owen glances towards him, instead of ignoring it and walking away. Owen takes the time out to speak what is on his mind.

“ I sit here on the very stage that I ruined the night for a lot of people. JJ Dixon probably is upset with me for destroying the finale of his New Year’s show, the fans upset that they had to leave earlier than expected, not just that they didn’t get to see the advertised main event they were all eager to see! Roulette Rules with Andreas Bergfalk and Eternidad. I know that every action causes a reaction so whatever JJ Dixon has planned for me, I’ll accept wholeheartedly. Andreas would love to get that match he seeked with the masked luchador but I’m sure he’d like to indent my face into the sole of his boot. The fans will either love or hate whatever I do as they never seem to be for or against me. The last person on that list is Eternidad. I’m sure he’ll like retribution for what I seemingly did to him, fair enough he got a few blows in before I took advantage, but he was left screaming in pain as I locked his own manoeuvre in on him. He’ll get that chance sooner than most, in England no less, at Sin City Wrestling’s Inception when we battle for the Heavyweight Wrestling Championship for this promotion.

Owen looks down at his waist and mimes the action of a title belt with his hands.

.:: Owen James ::.
“Funnily enough I think it was the black wolf who identified what your name stands for, ironic really, the man who identified it is the person you defeated and I ended his ability to walk. Eternidad is the Spanish for the word Eternity. A state of perpetuity, Infinite timelessness, something that goes on for unending time! You could place you name into the SCW history book as being the first Arizona State Champion, gaining what your name stands for, your name there for eternity. But if…IF…I remember rightly, you said you are not interested on winning or losing, that you are not interested in championships, you are in the ASW to inspire and to right a wrong. Correct? Give them something to believe in. Are you still in the same mind-set after I left you in the middle of the ring? Does Correcting the wrong mean you’re going to have to do what you already stated you’re not interested in? Winning the ASW Championship to prevent a wrong, myself, in winning such glory? Interesting how your logic works when it comes to our match, don’t you think? Many contradictions that’ll cause great conflict for you.

Owen pushes himself down off the stage as he walks casually towards the camera.

.:: Owen James ::.
“Your path of self-righteousness is admirable but one that’ll crumble at Inception. You see my belief is that I will walk out of Birmingham holding the ASW Championship, my belief is to leave you in the middle of the ring, beaten from pillar to post, your path of fixing that wrong had indeed been proven to be a challenge that you could not conquer. And trust me when I say this.. I don’t live in the grey. At Inception I will not be in the grey. You say greatness doesn’t come in grey, it comes in black and white, how black and white could I be yesterday at Showdown and how black and white will I be at Inception? You want one hell of a match at Inception, I will be granting you that, no one expected you or me to grace the tournament finals yet here we are. We will showcase the talent of SCW future that night! My belief and desire is to claim that Championship and it’ll be that belief, that desire, that determination that’ll get me there at your expense.

Owen stops, placing his hands into his trouser pocket, he looks down at the floor and begins to laugh. He shoulders shaking up and down. Owen glares up into the camera with a determined look.

.:: Owen James ::.
“I will be remembered at Inception, winning the first SCW match of 2015, winning against the unbeaten Eternidad, becoming the inaugural ASW Champion, making sure people remember the name of OWEN..JAMES!”

Owen steps passed the camera and heads out of the Randolph Center, the cameraman lowers the camera and stops recording, Owen walks passed the rented lorry that has the majority of the ASW equipment in and heads towards the main road. Owen takes a slow walk back towards the hotel, pulling the envelope out of his jean pocket an taking another sniff, wondering more about Inception as he prepares for the long journey over the pond.
