A grunt of pain is heard from the side of the room, which has a pile of equipment that has hidden the grunter. Suddenly, Connor Murphy's head and shoulders appear above the equipment. The camera view moves around the equipment to take in the full body of Murphy who has sat up and his arms drape over his knees. Dressed in a pair of low rise pants with a white stripe down the side, shoes that are beat up, Connor is shirtless and covered with a sheen of sweat that glistens in the fluorescent lights of what is now seen as a gym.
Across the room, a lone figure can be seen watching Murphy seem to argue with himself and then flop back down before he once more fights to do sit ups. The soft sound of a growl can be heard as Vixen watches Connor. She fights against wanting to walk up to the man until finally she can’t hold back anymore and heads in his direction.
“Connor,” she says as the man flops with his eyes closed, breathing deeply. Before she can say anything else, he holds up his hand.
“Look Vix, I know what you are going to say, and you are right. I don’t need you beating me up about this,” he grumbles before he sits up and puts a hand along the back of his neck. “I am already beating myself up about it. You were right and I must earn it back. So, if you want to talk about anything else…”
Vixen laughs as she crosses her arms over her chest and raises an eyebrow. “So, you think I am over here to beat you up about what?” she demands as the laugh fades. “I am over here to talk to you about what I saw last week and what you are doing with what needs to be done. Now I am not talking about training you yet but I have to give credit where credit is due. You took it to Kevin Carter and even though you lost…”
Connor winces at the comment from Vixen and nods in agreement.
“It was like I was seeing the old Connor. Keep that up and you will…MAYBE…earn my help back,” teases Vixen. “Seriously though Connor, you know you are good enough to beat everyone in the company. Ostie, you proved it with a win over that J2H person who thinks he is le Dieudonne of SCW.”
Connor can’t help but grin at that memory as he rubs a hand along the beard on his jaw. “Yeah, Jimmy was fun to annoy the hell out of.”
“See, that is the Connor you need to be. And that is why I am over here. I managed to get a hold of the card for Climax Control and you are in a match that could get you the Number one contendership to the Roulette title,” says Vixen. “And you are facing someone people that most would say are just jokes.”
“Jokes? Are you serious?” asks Connor as he places a hand on the floor and levers himself up to his feet. “Who?”
Vixen holds up her cell phone after tapping on the screen. On the phone, the Climax Control card is seen showing that Connor was in the match against Felix Hernandez and the Troll. Reading it, Connor transfers his eyes upward to see the smirk on the face of Vixen Staggs. “Sooooo…”
“It looks like I am going to be getting my hands on another title shot but this time, I am going to earn it,” says Connor. “And when I do, I won’t let this opportunity to actually fight for the belt pass me by.”
Connor reaches down to the bench nearby and pulls up a towel and drapes it around his neck before winking at Vixen before heading towards the back where the locker rooms are as Vixen shakes her head and moves towards the office in the other direction.
~*~*~*~*~
Connor Murphy is standing in the middle of the semi built ring that the crew are setting up for Climax Control. Nearby, a cameraman takes in the man as he looks around and finds the camera. Crooking his finger, he motions for the cameraman to join him. The image of Connor gets bigger as the cameraman films his way to where Connor has crouched down.
“Glad you could make it,” says Connor as he straightens up and then walks towards the ring steps and climbs to the floor. He approaches the camera and puts his arm over the shoulder of the man, the only part of Connor being seen is his hand that is held up to frame the ring.
The cameraman moves out from under the arm of Connor and then faces him as Connor begins to speak.
“In a few days I am going to be in that ring right there and I will be facing one person that I have beaten before and someone that I haven’t but who to speak about first?” muses Connor as he rubs a finger along his chin. “Guess we will start with what I know. The Troll. Everyone knows him. Everyone discounts him because he basically is the definition of a nobody that is all talk and very little action. But…but…he does talk some real crap that tends to make people notice him in some desperate attempt at getting attention. And for him, any attention is good attention.” Connor offers a half smile to the camera. “Just want to warn you Troll, be careful what you wish for because when it comes to me, we both know I beat you once in a triple threat to get a title shot and I will be doing it again this week.”
Connor then sits himself onto the ring that hasn’t gotten the ring ropes attached yet. “Then you have Felix, someone that I haven’t faced at all and if you ask me there is something about him that makes me think that I have…” says Connor, a thoughtful expression crossing his face. “Might be the fact that he reminds me so much of someone…Oh, he reminds me so much of Bill Barnhart. I guess that comes from the fact that he is friends with the Barnharts, considering that he is being managed by Barnhart’s wife is his manager. Is there nothing that woman can’t get herself involved in?”
“I am seriously not even giving her the time of day in that match because I have a different focus and that is the fact that I am out to earn a chance to face Aiden Reynolds once again. He and I have some unfinished business when it comes to the belt. And trust me when I say, I am coming to finish it at Blaze of Glory. Sadly, the Troll and Felix Hernandez are just some small…ish roadblocks on my way to that title match,” offers Connor before his name is called out from the crew who are carrying the ring ropes towards the pair.
“Guess that is my cue to leave,” says Connor who gets to his feet and then moves toward the cameraman to wink into the camera lens as he offers a lopsided grin. “See you Sunday Troll and Felix. I will be the one standing at the Roulette wheel in anticipation of what match type I am going to be beating you with for a chance at the Roulette title. Are you ready?”
Saying that, Connor straightens and then backs away from the cameraman as the image blinks to a white spot on a screen. Pulling back, Connor appears wearing a pair of jeans and a tee with a pair of dark boots and holding a remote that is pointed at the screen. With a grin, Connor points the remote out in front of him and presses something that once more sends the image to black.
