Sam Marlowe inner monologue…
If anyone was to ask, wrestling is not leaps and bounds…it is mere inches and seconds.
I keep playing it over and over in my mind. Facing Royal Purple in the ring for the Bombshell Roulette title and the two of us were escaping the cage to claim the belt…Royal Purple’s feet touched the mats mere milliseconds before mine but that was enough to retain the title. To say I was disappointed is an understatement but what could I do about it?
I could have cried foul but that just isn’t me now is it? No, I walked backstage and I decided then and there that I wasn’t going to cry or moan like a lot of the bombshells of Sin City Wrestling do. No, I was ready to put my head down and fight my way back into contention to a belt once more.
Before I go further though, I want to remind everyone that I am never handed title shots. No, I don’t ask for them from management nor do I believe that I deserve the shots. I am just given the opportunity and I take advantage of it. Just like I was able to earn the shot at the Bombshell Roulette title by beating two others in a ladder match.
Of course, my naysayers will say that I earn the shot only to choke when I get in the ring for the title. Yeah, sometimes I get ahead of myself and then allow the title to slip through my fingers. Subjectively it is something that others have decided. And they have the ability to judge however, I am the one that needs to really start to take it serious enough to be the threat that I used to be.
Wait, did I just admit that I had lost my drive here in Sin City Wrestling? Looking back, I have to agree to that. I lost my desire to push harder. I skated in my last few months in the company because I just didn’t care anymore. I was tired…tired of the lies, tired of the taunts and in general, tired of the complete horse hockey pucks that were being tossed around backstage.
So, what has changed? Is it me? Is it the fact that I want to do better? Has my desire returned?
Whatever it is…I am looking forward to finding out.

Colton Myers moves towards a figure standing near a beaten up Camaro parked on the edge of a cliff overlooking Vegas. Dressed in a pair of black pants that hugs his figure and a Riverdale sweatshirt, his black cowboy boots make dull thuds against concrete as he moves up behind the redhead who is standing there. Her curls are blowing around her face, Sam appears lost in thought. Leaning into her, he smiles as he whispers into her ear.
“Penny for your thoughts darlin’.”
Sam turns to Colton after brushing the red curls out of her face. “Not really thinking,” she offers as she pulls the baseball jacket closer over the SCW tee she has on. Completing the look is a dark skirt that reveals her legs in a pair of light tights that end at her ankle and a pair of half boots in black leather. “What about you Colton?”
Leaning against the door of the Camaro, Colton crosses his arms over his chest and gives Sam a look that has Sam lowering her head. “I was thinking that you were playing over the loss from the supercard over in your head again. I thought we talked that out but you seem to not be able to let it go. I get it Sammi, you are really hard on yourself with losses like this. I don’t want to think that it is bringing you down. You lost by only an inch…barely a second as a matter of fact. You seriously gave her everything you could and more. I know I would be just as pissed…”
Sam shakes her head and once more turns away from Colton but speaks over her shoulder. “Who said I am worried about that loss? Yes, that night it stung just a little,” Sam says with a sigh before looking over her shoulder at her fiancé. “I would be a fool to say it didn’t. But I got over it really quickly. Losing by that little bit made me realize it was time I got back to my winning ways and the only way to do that is to move ahead and leave the losses in the past. So that is what I am doing, the hakuna matata thingie.”
Colton’s eyebrow raises slightly as Sam once more turns to look back into the distance. Pushing himself off the car he moves towards Sam and then drapes his arms around her and leans his chin on the shoulder of Sam. “You trying to tell me that you are going to move on from the loss?”
Leaning back into his embrace, Sam nods slowly. “That’s right Camo, it is time I move on.” Her voice is flat and monotone which has Colton hugging her tighter. Sam’s soft laugh breaks the quiet between them which once more has Colton confused. “I am not talking about hanging it up darlin’, I am talking about getting back into the fight. It is time I let people know and remember just who I am and just what I am capable of. I think that people are taking me for granted and that is going to stop right now.”
Colton takes a deep breath and releases it in a low whistle. Sam can feel the tension leaving the body of Myers who half turns Sam in his arms. “So what brought this on Sam?”
“I realized that I was ready to be a threat once again when I almost won the Bombshell Roulette title at Blaze of Glory. I missed it by this much…” says Sam as she brings her hand up, her forefinger and thumb almost touching. “Do you realize Colton that I am thought of as someone that isn’t a challenge anymore. That I just let anyone walk all over me, call me a loser and get away with it. That shouldn’t be me,” admits Sam, emotion creeping into her voice. “And starting today I promise you that I am not going to let that happen again. Sure, I may lose but whoever I lose to will realize that they have had to earn the win.”
Sam’s hand balls into a fist in emphasis to her vow. Colton brings her hand up and plants a kiss on the knuckles of the fist. Sam blushes but then smiles as she leans her head back against the shoulder of Myers. The pair stand looking out over the city below and Sam nods towards it. “That is where the road back for me starts,” she says slowly. “Sin City Wrestling is going to be put on its ear, my promise to myself.” The last is said almost to herself as Sam straightens and then leaves the embrace of Colton. She moves to the edge of the cliff and raises her eyes skyward. The wind whips her hair around her which gives her a wild appearance. Her eyes close as she takes a long deep breath. Turning, she opens her eyes and smiles at Colton before she walks to the car and then opens the driver’s side door and then looks back at Myers who has a questioning look on his face. “Well, are you coming? I have some working out to do before my next match and I think I am going to need it.”
“I’m ready when you are,” says Colton as he moves to the other side of the car. Sliding behind the wheel, Sam brings the engine to life and it purrs powerfully belying the vehicle’s outward appearance. Colton climbs into the passenger seat and slams the door. Sam reaches down and Colton spares her a glance and with the look on her face he is quick to grab the seatbelt to buckle in as Sam slams the car into reverse to pull away from the cliff and spin to get back onto the road before she hits the clutch and shifts into first gear and raises a small dust cloud that obscures the vehicle as it pulls out of sight.

A teletype machine is heard like an old time news desk. A desk with a dark figure is seen in silhouette behind it. A large green screen can be seen behind the shadowy figure. Suddenly on a side monitor where the same image is seen, it lights up to reveal an image of a wrestling collage of matches with a bright SCW logo flashing on it.
Behind the monitor that has the camera focused on it, the studio lights rise and Sam Marlowe is revealed. She has her hair pulled back into a chignon on the back of her head and a pair of wire rimmed glasses sitting on the tip of her nose. A white blouse with a lace collar is covered in a light grey blazer with black lapels. Although it can’t be seen, a matching pencil skirt and black heels complete the outfit. In front of Sam is a pile of papers that she picks up and taps lightly on the desk in front of her before she looks into the camera and begins to speak.
“Breaking news, Sin City Wrestling has announced the card for Climax Control two hundred and ninety-six. From opening match to main event, the matches have some very interesting consequences. Tonight, we are going to be talking about the main event where a gauntlet match is being held to determine the number one contender to the Bombshell Internet title currently held by Myra Rivers,” says anchorperson Sam Marlowe. “We go now to reporter Sam Marlowe to talk about the match.”
The image on the monitor switches to an image of Sam Marlowe dressed in a dress shirt and matching pants as she stands near a ring in the UNLV Cox Pavilion. “Thank you, Samantha. I am here to discuss the match that will be main eventing the next Climax Control. Christian Underwood has announced that the match will see six top ranked Bombshells in a Gauntlet match Rumble style. What that means is that two women will begin the match and every two minutes another Bombshell is introduced into the mix. To be eliminated, a bombshell must be thrown over the top rope to the floor. This means that you touch the floor, you are out.” Sam the reporter begins to pace along the ring as she talks into the camera. “The bombshells taking part in this match are…”
The camera stops as Sam reaches into her jacket pocket and pulls out a set of cards and then once more addresses the camera. “We have Keira Fisher-Johnson, her wife Roxi Johnson, Alicia Lukas, Lucy Seraphina, Seleana Zdunich and Sam Marlowe. Back to you Samantha,” says the reporter.
Back in the studio, Samantha Marlowe pushes the glasses up on her nose then faces another camera and speaks. “Thank you Sam. As she said, this match is the main event of Climax Control. We have a scouting report from our research department…we go now to Sammi Marlowe.”
The screen lights up to feature a smiling Sammi Marlowe who is standing in front of a white board that features images of the six women in the match. Stepping up to the board, she reaches up and hits the image of Roxi Johnson. “Research on Roxi Johnson has revealed that she is a multi-time multi-title champion that is a danger in any ring that she steps into. A legendary Bombshell, she has been known to be someone that has no problem beating any and all contenders to come out with the win. And it has been noted that she has the advantage of being one of the last two bombshells to enter the match,” says the ‘researcher’.
Taking a second to look at the white board as if deciding who to choose next, she taps at the picture of Keira Fisher-Johnson. “Another competitor is the wife of Roxi Johnson, Keira Fisher-Johnson who recently has managed to step out from under the shadow of her wife who has been the more dominant of the pair. One has to question if this means that Keira isn’t afraid to be more than her wife? Or will the fact that the pair are in the match together that they will work together until it is just the pair of them in the ring? Keira better hope that she isn’t the first one into the ring because if that is the case, she doesn’t have the odds in her favor,” states Sammi.
“Next up we have…” begins Sammi before she taps the Lucy Seraphina image which brings it into focus. “The return of Seraphina has pushed her right into the fight for the chance to challenge for a title. Now some may say that she shouldn’t be here in this match but she is after all a Seraphina…from a family of wrestlers that always seem to have their names in the title picture.” Sammi looks again at the board before clicking on the image of Alicia Lukas. The image comes into focus then is swiped away again as Sammie stops.
“Let’s announce that another name thrown into this match is Sam Marlowe, multi time champion in her own right,” offers Sammi who taps Sam Marlowe’s picture. “This is a bombshell who definitely needs to get back to some winning ways if she wants to even get a chance to challenge for titles once more. Most people are saying this is a mercy choice of management for Sam Marlowe however, one has to be thinking differently because Sam Marlowe may be on a losing streak but when the chips are down, she continues to prove that she deserves to be in this kind of matches.”
Sammi moves to tap the image of Seleana Zdunich who lights up. “Another former Bombshell champion in the picture, she has earned a shot at gaining the bombshell internet championship that had been held by her wife when she was Crystal Hilton. Seleana is no stranger to titles in SCW but this will be the second time she will be in a six bombshell match to determine who will be facing the champion. And lastly…”
Sammi moves to the final picture to highlight Alicia Lukas. “This woman is currently one of the favorites for this match. Considering the dominance that she has shown in the Bombshell championship, odds are that she may end up one of the final competitors in this match considering that she is able to claim either entry five or six which means she will be one of the fresher challengers by the end of the match. And that is the six challengers in this week’s main event. Back to you Samantha.”
Anchorperson Samantha Marlowe smiles into the screen and with a nod, she begins to speak once more. “And with that, this is Samantha Marlowe signing off. Good night and good luck to all the bombshells in Climax Control’s main event.”
The lights in the studio fade as the teletype machine can be heard once more.

Sam Marlowe walks into the middle of the ring where the lights have been lit. She has her hair pulled back into a long ponytail that hangs over her left shoulder. She is dressed in her ring gear with a small bolero jacket that has her name stitched on the chest. There is no one else in the vicinity except for a cameraman that is filming the redhead in the ring. Reaching the ropes, Sam begins to speak.
“This week once again Climax Control will have a number one contender match for the Bombshell Internet championship and it will be contested in a Gauntlet Rumble match. Six Bombshells will take part and when someone is thrown over the top rope and to the outside, their shot is lost,” says Sam with a thoughtful look on her face. “Another contendership match and another chance for me to rise to the occasion. But odds are that everyone is thinking I don’t stand a chance given the caliber of Bombshell in the match. Maybe they need to think again.”
Sam begins to pace in the ring as she speaks. “First you have Lucy Seraphina who is a former Bombshell Internet champion herself. She has made a return to the company and if you ask me, she is a wrestler to reckon with. Y’all think that I could cut her down because she is so recently returned but that wouldn’t be me. I have respect for Lucy who has made her name before and is looking to do it again. And I know that she stands a good chance in the match however, she does have some big obstacles to get over. Consider if she is one of the first ones in the match. She would have to face the fact that being the first into the ring means the odds will not be in her favor. Lucy knows what is at stake and she is ready to do what it takes. I wish her luck, the others in the match will not make it easy on her.”
Tossing her head, Sam then turns to the side as she sighs. Turning back, she smiles at the camera. “Then you have the dominant Alicia Lukas. Someone that has earned the respect of the Bombshells with her dominant run with the title. Now I probably would have to think that she is the odds on favorite because she constantly says that she is the one that people have to beat. And yes, I have faced her a couple of times and I didn’t get the job done. Which means that she is the one that I am leveling my sights on. As much as I respect the fact she is who she is, she is the one that has the target on her back just because she is the one that needs to have her bubble burst the most,” Sam states with conviction.
“Keira Fisher-Johnson, you are someone that recently wore the Bombshell championship and are a competitor that I really respect as well. You have the confidence to keep your name in the minds of management because they see that you have the commitment to give a superhuman effort in that ring,” says Sam as she clutches the top rope and leans towards the camera. “I know that you are facing your wife in this match and I would be remiss in stating the obvious, if it so happens that you and Roxi are in the ring together, one never knows how much the pair of you will work together to eliminate the rest of us to have at least the two of you as the last two in that match. I get it, I really do which means that separating you and Roxi is a goal that we all should be striving for. Doing that means that it is strategic, not personal at all. Y’all have my respect too and out of the ring, I would be honored to consider you a colleague, maybe even a friend. But in the ring, you are an obstacle that needs to be eliminated and I will do that.”
Sam stops talking before she makes it to the corner where she stops and leans into the turnbuckles. The camera moves to take in her profile as she speaks once more. “Then we have Seleana Zdunich who is also someone that is a very strong contender as well. She is someone that I have faced and is a threat on any level. I am not going to take her lightly because I know what she is capable of. She has a big set of shoes to fill being married to Christina Rose and is another woman that is fighting out from under the shadow of their partners. But she can punch above her weight so to speak and take the challenge in proving herself worthy seriously like a heart attack. She is another that I have to watch out for.”
“And finally, Roxi Johnson. What can I say about her…” muses Sam as she pulls herself up to perch on the top rope to continue to speak. “Well, I guess the first thing I have to say is that I really appreciate the shout outs on Twitter, each one making me smile because she is offering me something not many people do. She is offering me respect and actually acknowledging me. I don’t know how many times I have felt invisible to everyone and then Wednesday arrives and there it is, the hashtag WCW from Roxi and once more I feel noticed in a good way. She doesn’t put me down; she realizes that I am somebody that is more than a punchline like all the others seem to see me as. So, for that Roxi, thank you. In and out of the ring, I want you to know that you have my respect but this week on Climax Control, it is going to be me leaving it all in the ring and if that means I have to beat you, then I am sorry but I will beat you to earn the title shot, that is what I am going to do.”
“Ladies,” begins Sam as she jumps from the top rope to the canvas and once again leans against the ropes, her eyes intense. “I am coming to the ring on Sunday with one goal in mind and that is to fight like a wildcat to win the opportunity to face Myra once more for the Bombshell Internet title. I am prepared, I have trained and Sunday is the start of my return to the top. So be prepared for the fight of your lives.”
Sam pushes away from the ropes and then turns to walk away from the camera as she slides her hands into her jacket pockets. She merges into the shadows on the opposite side of the ring before the scene goes to black.
