Title: READY OR NOT...
Post by: Candy on May 01, 2020, 11:50:55 PM
Ooc: A special thank you to Bella Madison and Malachi for their permission to use them in my rp.

Scene One: “Back To Basics”

When: Tuesday afternoon, about 2pm
Where: The area set up for Candy and Christian to do hair at the hotel

*The scene fades up inside a room. It was set up like a small salon, with 2 swivel chairs set up with mirrors in front, and a sink for rinsing. Candy was working on a member of the backstage crew when the cameras caught up. She was doing a haircut on the brunette with a huge smile on her face. She put her scissors down and smiled.*

~CANDY~: Done! What do you think?

*The woman ran her hands through her hair and smiled.*

~WOMAN~: It feels great, thank you! I didn’t even know you did hair.

~CANDY~: Alot of people don’t. And when they find out, they assume I’m bad at it. No one looks at me and thinks “Hey, that girl can do hair!”. But then again people don’t always believe that I’m a good wrestler either. I guess I just don’t have that look.

~WOMAN~: But look at you. Reigning and defending SCW Bombshell Roulette Champion! You have been for over 100 days! That’s huge! And for your rookie year in SCW… it’s amazing. I’ve seen alot of people come and go in this company. You won the title literally only 2 months into your run here. That kind of thing doesn’t happen on a fluke. You just need to believe in yourself a little more, hun.

~CANDY~: You really think so?

~WOMAN~: Listen to me. You are too tightly wound right now. I know you are nervous about defending against Mercedes Vargas, right?

*Candy nodded softly*

~WOMAN~: And I know that Mercedes is a hell of a competitor. She has been in SCW for like 8 years, held an insane amount of titles, and beaten pretty much everyone. But you gotta remember something… she is beatable. She has lost before, and she will lose again. You gotta stop letting her intimidate you. You are just as talented as her.

~CANDY~: You are right. Facing her makes me REALLY nervous. She’s like a legend here and I’m just a rookie in this place. Everyone is gonna be rooting for her and… well… expecting me to lose. And that scares me so much. That I’ll let the fans down, but that everyone else is expecting it. I just don’t know how to approach this match.

~WOMAN~: Like any other match. You prepare the best you can, and you go out there and do your best. Can I give you some advice?

*Candy nodded*

~WOMAN~: You need to have a little fun. Get your mind off things. Go play a game or something. I know it’s limited, being stuck in this hotel or your house, but find something fun and go have a blast. You will feel so much better.

~CANDY~: Go have fun?

~WOMAN~: Yeah. Well, finish drying and styling my hair first, then go have fun.

*The woman chuckled and Candy smiled wide. She grabbed a brush and a blow dryer as the scene faded out.*

Scene 2: “READY OR NOT! HERE I COME!”

When: Wednesday morning, about 7AM
Where: The halls of the hotel

*The cameras flicker to life in the empty halls of the hotel where the majority of SCW superstars are being quarantined during this pandemic going on. The halls were empty, except for the occasional bellhops or hotel workers passing by. It was quiet… until…*

~CANDY~: READY OR NOT! HERE I COME!!!

*Candy’s light voice was heard echoing down the halls. The cameras pan and catch her leaning against the wall, her face buried in her arms. As she finishes her sentence, she drops her arms and begins walking down the hall, looking side to side.*

~CANDY~: Where are you?

*She turns the corner and sees an over excited Fluffy sitting there, wagging her tail and panting happily. Candy crossed her arms and looks down at the miniature pup.*

~CANDY~: Fluffy! You are supposed to hide! It was my turn to find you.

*Fluffy tilted her head and wagged her tail even faster*

~CANDY~: How am I supposed to have fun and unwind before my match with Mercedes if you don’t hide for me to seek?

*Fluffy growled a little bit*

~CANDY~: Don’t you take that tone of growl with me!

*Fluffy laid down and placed her head between her front paws. Candy felt bad and sat down beside her*

~CANDY~: I’m sorry, Fluff. I’m just soooooo nervous about this match. I mean, I know I have no reason to be nervous. Win or lose I am still gonna have friends who like me, and I’m still gonna be seen as a serious competitor. But… I mean this isn’t just another match. This is Mercedes Vargas! Like, one of the bestest wrestlers in SCW! I know that no one will blame me if I lose, and no one will hate me or be mad at me. But what if I don’t put on the best match with her? I feel like this is a test. Like they are testing how well I do under pressure. I mean… that makes sense, right?

*Fluffy, sensing Candy’s emotions, jumped into her arms and licked her cheek*

~CANDY~: They want to see how I do against one of the best. I’ve had an amazing debut. I won a title within 2 months of starting. And I've held it for like 4 months. I’ve beaten every challenger they threw at me, and I got to the semi finals of the Blast From the Past tournament with a partner I had never even met. I mean, that’s impressive right?

*Fluffy barked, excitedly*

~CANDY~: But I’m still seen to many people here as “the silly super happy new girl with the super duper cute dog”. And I want people to see me as more than that. Which is why I have to give Mercedes the bestest match ever! And to do that, I gotta calm my nerves down. And to do THAT I gotta play hide and seek and have some fun! So… I’m gonna go hide, and you are gonna find me! Ok?

*Fluffy jumped down and spun in circles. She then buried her head in her paws and when she did that, Candy got up and took off down the hall. She turns a corner and is almost hit by the door opening. In the door frame stood Bella Madison with a coffee in hand. She had heard the commotion of Candy giggling in the hall and wanted to see what was going on. She opened the door just in time to see Candy run past giggling, and Fluffy barking as she chased behind Candy. Bella blinked a few times and looked at her coffee.*

~BELLA MADISON~: I… am gonna need something stronger than this… a lot stronger…

*The camera stopped following Candy and focused in on Bella. She stood there for a moment when Malachi’s voice was heard coming from inside the room.*

~MALACHI~: CLOSE THE DOOR! LOCK IT! DEADBOLT IT! TURN OFF THE LIGHTS! SHE WILL KNOW WE ARE HERE AND SHE WILL FIND ME.

*Bella turned around and looked at him.*

~MALACHI~: Ever since the day that I gave her a hug because of her sister… she has been extra obsessed with making me her best friend again. I just can’t take it…

~BELLA MADISON~: Better you than me…

*He reached out and grabbed her by the arm and pulled her back into the room, slamming the door. He then rushed to the door and locked it quickly*

~BELLA MADISON~: Oh come on… aren’t you overreacting?

~MALACHI~: You know her. I wouldn’t put anything past that woman.

~BELLA MADISON~: If you say so. I’m gonna go take a shower. It’s too early for this shit

*She planted a kiss on her fiance and walked off. He stood there, staring at the door. Suddenly, he feels a tap on the shoulder and he turns around.*

~MALACHI~: I’ll be right… AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

*He let out a loud scream as the camera turned, showing that the person who tapped him on the shoulder was NOT Bella, as he suspected. Oh no, it was Candy. She stood there with this huge, almost eerie, grin on her face.*

~CANDY~: FOUND YOU!!!

*Malachi looked a little freaked out.*

~MALACHI~: How did you get in here?

~CANDY~: Don’t worry about it. I’m playing hide and seek. Wanna play?

~MALACHI~: No… not really…

~CANDY~: Too bad! I’m gonna be it, and I’m gonna count to 10 then come find you ok? I’m trying to have some fun and get ready for my match. So you are gonna play hide and seek with me… right… bestie?

~MALACHI~: No.

~CANDY~: Well, if you don’t wanna play I can just stay here and we can have breakfast together and talk and play board games and then watch some tv and then we can talk about my match and you can tell me about your childhood and then…

*She paused to take a deep breath before continuing.*

~MALACHI~: NO…

~CANDY~: Hide and seek it is!

*She covered her eyes and starts counting.*

~CANDY~: ONE!!! TWO!!!

*Malachi realized she meant business and took off out of the room. He ran off to get away from her so fast that he actually dropped his wallet. She kept counting until she hit 10.*

~CANDY~: NINE! TEN! READY OR NOT! HERE I COME!!!

*She uncovered her eyes and saw that Malachi was gone. She smiled as she looked down and saw his wallet. She picked it up and put it in her pocket to give it back to him later. She left the hotel room and started looking around down the hall. She saw a hotel maid at a cart in the hall and walked up to her.*

~CANDY~: Have you seen Malachi?

~HOTEL MAID~: I… don’t think so.

~CANDY~: Dang! We are playing hide and go seek and I’m the seeker. I’m trying to find him.

~HOTEL MAID~: Wouldn’t asking for help be cheating?

~CANDY~: O...M...G… I didn’t think of that! That’s so bad of me. I’m not a cheater. I don’t cheat at games, or matches, or anything.

~HOTEL MAID~: I thought you looked familiar. You are one of those wrestlers that has taken over the hotel, right?

~CANDY~: Yeah. I’m Candy.

~HOTEL MAID~: I knew I recognized you. My daughter adores you. Do you think I can take a picture with you? She won’t believe that I got to meet you.

~CANDY~: Of course!

*The maid took out her phone and they took a selfie together.*

~HOTEL MAID~: I hope I’m not interrupting anything important.

~CANDY~: Oh no, I got a match coming up with Mercedes Vargas and I’m really nervous. So I’m playing a game to have some fun and get my nerves under control

~HOTEL MAID~: That’s a great idea. My daughter was talking about you defending your title and I just want to wish you good luck. My daughter absolutely loves you. Win or lose, she absolutely loves watching you go out there every week. You really do prove to her, and all little girls, that you don’t have to be mean and nasty to get ahead in the business, or in life. I respect that.

~CANDY~: Thank you! I’d love to stay and chat… but Malachi got a super large head start and I gotta go find him.

~HOTEL MAID~: Oh… ok… good luck!

*Candy grinned and took off down the hall. The cameras cut and opened back up in the lobby of the hotel. Sitting in a chair, reading a magazine, was Candy’s husband, Marcus Cage. He was just relaxing in the lobby when he heard a PSSSST come from behind him. He looks behind him to see Malachi hiding in a large plant.*

~MARCUS CAGE~: Malachi? What are you doing?

~MALACHI~: Have you seen your wife?

*Marcus then began to chuckle as he looked at the frantic Malachi in the plant*

~MARCUS CAGE~: She got you playing hide and go seek?

~MALACHI~: YES! I didn’t want to but she popped up in my hotel room after I shut the door. I don’t even know HOW it happened.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Yeah… she does that…

~MALACHI~: ITS CREEPY! Now she is trying to find me and I am just running around trying to stay ahead of her.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Well you better hide quickly, I can hear her coming…

*Malachi dropped out of sight and Marcus turned back around, going back to his magazine. Candy then came skipping up to him, Fluffy in tow.*

~CANDY~: Marcus? Have you seen Malachi?

~MARCUS CAGE~: Why are you looking for him?

~CANDY~: We are playing hide and go seek… and he has been hiding for like… an hour. And I can’t find him. He might be the hide and seek champion of the world!

~MARCUS CAGE~: Oh… well you do know that asking me for my help would be cheating… right?

~CANDY~: D’OH! THAT’S RIGHT! That’s what the maid told me when I started. UGH! I am never gonna find him.

~MARCUS CAGE~: I have a feeling he is closer than you think. Did you check near the pool?

~CANDY~: THE POOL! YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!

*She kissed Marcus on the cheek and looked down at Fluffy.*

~CANDY~: LET’S GO!

*She and Fluffy took off. Once out of sight, Marcus turned back to Malachi.*

~MARCUS CAGE~: You got about… 5 minutes. You might be able to make it to the elevator.

~MALACHI~: THANK YOU! I don’t know why she chose me out of everyone… but it’s just…

~MARCUS CAGE~: She likes you and Bella. I think it’s sweet. She doesn’t know too many people here, and she knows Bella. So she latched on to you guys.

~MALACHI~: But she is driving me insane… She’s nuts!

~MARCUS CAGE~: She is a person who takes everything to an extra level. Can I give you a little advice?

~MALACHI~: Please?

~MARCUS CAGE~: You wanna know why she isn’t playing hide and seek with me right now?

*Malachi looks like something just clicked.*

~MALACHI~: Yeah…

~MARCUS CAGE~: Because she already found me. See… I hid under the bed with my feet sticking out. She thinks I am just a bad hider.

~MALACHI~: So…

~MARCUS CAGE~: So let her find you. Then you will be “it”. And she will go and hide. That will buy you a few hours at least.

~MALACHI~: Why are you telling me this?

~MARCUS CAGE~: Because… whatever takes her mind off whatever is bothering her… I’m all for. Now… you probably have about 2 minutes left. You still might make it to the elevators.

~MALACHI~: Thanks!

*Malachi took off through the lobby towards the elevator. As soon as the doors shut, Candy comes running back in the picture looking annoyed. She ran up to Marcus and sat in the chair next to him.*

~MARCUS CAGE~: Did you find him?

~CANDY~: No! He’s is a really good hider! This is so much fun!!!

~MARCUS CAGE~: I’m glad you are having fun. Do you feel better?

~CANDY~: A little bit.

~MARCUS CAGE~: You still nervous about your match?

~CANDY~: Yeah.

~MARCUS CAGE~: What’s this about, Candy? You NEVER get nervous like this about your match. Is it because of how big of a match it is?

~CANDY~: Kinda… It’s a really big match.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Yes, it is a big match. But you have been in bigger matches with more on the line, and you have never been this nervous. Is this about your sister?

~CANDY~: A little bit. I was so scared. What if her brain is broken and she gets hurt again.

~MARCUS CAGE~: They gave her medicine for her seizures, so it shouldn’t happen again. She is recovering fine at home with us. You know she doesn’t care if you win or lose, she cares about you going out there and having fun. Just like me.

~CANDY~: I know but I don’t know how to handle something like this… nothing like this has ever happened to me. This whole last year has been so weird. With the fight with my parents, and then my sister, and now the quarantine…

~MARCUS CAGE~: I know, it’s a lot for you to take in. But you can’t take that into the ring with you. Remember what I taught you?

~CANDY~: Leave your troubles backstage?

~MARCUS CAGE~: Exactly. I know the stuff with your parents and your sister have been really hard on you. But you are so strong, to still go out there every week and put on the best show possible. It doesn’t matter if it’s the biggest and best name in the company, or if it’s some no name local talent, you always do your best.

~CANDY~: I try.

~MARCUS CAGE~: And that’s all anyone can ever ask.

*He reached out and held her hands in his.*

~MARCUS CAGE~: So you need to take these nerves.... The jitters… and push them aside. Go out to that ring and do what you do best. Defend that title! I mean, come on, you’ve held that title for over 100 days. I was looking over those stats sheets they send out before each show, and frankly, you got the momentum over her.

~CANDY~: I do?

~MARCUS CAGE~: Yeah, you do. They said that you were 6-2 so far this year.

~CANDY~: You mean I have won 6 matches and only lost 2 this year?

~MARCUS CAGE~: That’s right. Mercedes is 1-4 for the year. You know what that tells me?

~CANDY~: That I have more wins than her?

~MARCUS CAGE~: More wins, less losses, and more matches all together.. She may hold a ton of records over her long tenure in the SCW… but not so much recently.

~CANDY~: So… I can win?

~MARCUS CAGE~: Of course you can win! You just gotta remember that no matter what, as long as you try your best, you can be proud.

~CANDY~: That’s so neat, Marcus. I didn’t know any of that stuff. I’m really on a roll!

~MARCUS CAGE~: You truly are.

~CANDY~: And I can win this! I can beat Mercedes Vargas! What an upset that would be, right?

~MARCUS CAGE~: That it would be.

~CANDY~: I know I asked for a title defense this week, but I wasn’t expecting them to give me Mercedes. She is like a legend in this place, and I got really nervous. But I feel alot better now.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Good. You know what to do out there. Follow your instincts.

~CANDY~: I will! I will do my absolute bestest. If they are testing me, I’m gonna show em just how good I am! I’m gonna beat her. I’m gonna win.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Hell yeah you are!

~CANDY~: I’m gonna prove to everyone that I can rise to the occasion. That I can stand toe to toe with the best of the best, and hold my own! I’m actually really excited for this match now.

~MARCUS CAGE~: No more nerves?

~CANDY~: No more nerves! I’m totally ready for this. Ready to show everyone what I’m made of.

~MARCUS CAGE~: That’s what I like to hear!

~CANDY~: I let all the hype and numbers get in my head and make me scared.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Of course her numbers are impressive. If you had been in the company as long as she had, your numbers would be high too.

~CANDY~: Right! I don’t know much about her, who she is, how she acts, or anything like that. I haven’t met her. But I did read up about her a little bit. Did you know she has been in almost 60 title matches! That’s more matches than I have been in in the last 7 or 8 years.

~MARCUS CAGE~: Because you retired for several years, and then had that incident in another company where they “forgot” you were even on the roster.

~CANDY~: That was mean. But you are right. I can’t keep focusing on the numbers like everyone else does. You know what these numbers don’t tell you? They don’t tell you who some one is. They don’t tell you if they are a nice person or a meanie doo doo head. They don’t tell you what someone believes in, They don't tell you what a person likes or dislikes. All it tells you is how many times they have been in the ring. And that doesn’t really matter at this point.

~MARCUS CAGE~: That’s exactly right. You can go on and on about how many title matches you have had, or how many matches you have won, or even how many title reigns you have or hall of fame rings… at the end of the day, they are just numbers.

~CANDY~: Exactly! I’m so glad you understand me, Marcus. And I’m so happy that you know just how to help me prepare for every match.

~MARCUS CAGE~: The perks of having a wrestling legend of your own as your husband.

~CANDY~: Sure is!

~MARCUS CAGE~: I tell ya what, when you are done here for the day, we can go home, have some dinner, and then we can hit that practice ring in the garage for a few hours. How does that sound?

~CANDY~: That sounds perfect. Maybe you can teach me a new move?

~MARCUS CAGE~: Maybe. We will see how things go. I just want to make sure that you are confident when you hit that ring. You know how much of a difference a little bit of confidence can make.

~CANDY~: I know I know… it can be the difference between a good match and a great match!

~MARCUS CAGE~: Exactly. So what are you gonna do when you go out there for your match on Sunday?

~CANDY~: I’m gonna be confident… and I’m gonna give Mercedes one heck of a good match! And I’m gonna win, and I’m gonna keep my belt, and I’m gonna go on to Into The Void IX and defend against Violet! I’m not gonna let Mercedes intimidate me, and I’m not gonna be scared or nervous. I’m gonna show everyone why I am the Bombshell Roulette Champion, and I’m gonna show everyone on the roster and on staff just how good I am in that ring!

~MARCUS CAGE~: That is exactly what I want to hear.

*She smiled at Marcus*

~CANDY~: Now that I’m all hyped up… I may have had a few Pixie Sticks when I went to check the pool… I gotta go find Malachi! I still have his wallet!

*She took the wallet out of her pocket and held it down towards Fluffy*

~CANDY~: Can you get his scent, girl?

*Fluffy sniffed the wallet and barked, running off. Candy giggled as she chased after Fluffy. The camera cut back to Marcus, who smiled as he went back to reading his magazine and the scene faded to black.*
