Chapter 4: Just another tale
Part 1: Once a go
Night time filled Denmark as Samuel Devereux tucked in Athena (younger) into bed for the night. As of late, the wrestling lives of the Magi-Blood has been like a rollercoaster and Athena could sense it. The five year old looked up at her Father as he smiled at her.

“There you go kiddo; Would you like a story?” Asked Sam.

Athena nodded.

“You know Athena, Sam’s gotta ask, why don’t you speak in a full sentence? I mean you’re going to be six in a few months.” Sam asked.

“No reason.” Her voice rang out.

Sam couldn’t help but to laugh at that. He sat in the chair next to the bed and let his mind wander.

“I think I have a good one for you tonight child.” Sam started.

Athena’s eyes turn bright in excitement for tonight’s tale.

“In a land far away, and when I say that, I mean Las Vegas; was a kingdom called SCW. It was ruled by a king and a queen for a day. Don’t ask why child, Sam doesn’t know the answer. Anways because of this, the royal family was in a crisis!”

Sitting on their thrown, the current royal family. But they really couldn’t call themselves that. They didn’t have any children, the Queen wasn’t ready to have any naturally…

“My King, why don’t we just adopt? I mean, it’ll be for a day and we’re having a grand ball after all!” The Queen smiled.”

Of course, the lady was the one in charge. Y’all know how it is. The king turned to her.

“I like the idea! We can get some of the best warriors in the land both male and female!” The King added.

So it was agreed and the invitations were sent out and the queen and king, for the prince’s side of things, they had asked a bard, a beast tamer, a warrior, an entertainer and a mage! Little did they know that the battle for princedom would be a bloody one.

Athena looked at Sam.

“Then what?!” The little one asked.

“Well we’ll find out soon. I mean real soon, guess you get a part two come Sunday.” Sam replied.

“No fair!” She screamed.

Sam patted her hair and smiled.

“Hey relax little one. Time for you to sleep, I don’t need your Mother killing me.”

Sam rose to his feet and slowly exited the room. He shut both the lights and the door before walking away.

“So this is going to be interesting. I’m not sure why but I feel like we’re stuck in some DND type stuff. Regardless though, I wish you all good luck. These types of matches are never easy and someone can end up in the Rp.” Sam sighed.

Sam took a pause and looked into Gunnar’s room. He could see his son, sleeping and Sam smiled. He shut the door and started to walk away.

“Josh Woodrum, Last week was not easy for me but it did work in my favour. I will, once again, walk away with another victory and one where I will show the world what I am capable of. Of course, Josh is not the sort of name who you know will give you an easy ride. Instead, that’s the name who you should perhaps worry about. Given his intensity in the ring and the overall success that he’s had during his time here, I have gained nothing but respect for him and the rest of the roster for that matter. However, as I have stated from day one, some of the most destructive and phenomenal matches can stem from mutual respect and therefore, this can be a highlight of my career.

However, it’s clear that neither of us necessarily have the experience in this match type. While we do both pride ourselves on being hardcore athletes, a hardcore is not something that either of us are quite able to say we’ve participated in so it’s new to us but it’s something that we’ll both no doubt be able to fit into. This is our sort of environment and we’ll feel more comfortable within it. Therefore, I am excited about the opportunity to hurt someone in this way. No offense, of course but this is where I show who the more dominant force out of the two of us are.

Josh – we’ll do what we can and we’ll go above and beyond to steal the show and prove ourselves. Regardless of the result, we’ll both be able to shake one another’s hands out of respect and leave with our heads held high. In what is already an incredibly hardcore show, we’re going to prove why you and I are going to be able to steal the show as THE most hardcore athletes. This is where we both feel most comfortable and this is essentially our home. It’s second nature to us so while I respect you and know that you can feel comfortable in these sorts of matches, this is not your time. You are more inconsistent and less experienced than me and therefore, I will take advantage of that.

It’s not going to be easy to accept that there is a genuine threat standing opposite me in that ring but regardless, I am not going to back down. I haven’t before and I’m not going to start now. There is very little chance that you will be able to put a stop to me but ultimately, I will leave with one more victory to my name and I can say with pride that it’s a victory over one of the best.” Sam nodded.

Sam paused to make sure that the triplets were out cold.

“Aaron Isaacs, many consider him to be somewhat of a joke but in reality, he has defeated some of the best. It may be a surprising turn of events but you can't say that the man is not impressive in his own right. Therefore, I will take him incredibly seriously heading into this. He is a smart man, even if that isn't initially clear. It's true though because in the ring, he can indeed be a force to be reckoned with.

You are soon to be faced with a man who is one of the most dominant ever to step into a wrestling ring. I may not necessarily be the same force I once was and I have struggled as of late to do anything particularly noteworthy. That doesn't mean, however, that I've lost my edge. I refuse to believe this and one more victory this week will just go to show that I may not be at my best but frankly, that's still far greater than most. I'm not always the most confident man but the records don't lie and that's a viable and reasonable argument to make.

I am far from my absolute best but regardless, I can still get through this match and no doubt, get through it. I can survive this battle against a man who is yet to walk away with significant victories. I can indeed defeated Aaron and I can indeed walk away with an opportunity that I feel I have deserved for some time. As perhaps the most dominant athlete in history, I feel this opportunity is somewhat overdue and therefore, I will do what I can. I will even go above and beyond in order to ensure my success in this as I go ahead and finally earn the opportunity of a lifetime and when all is said and done, I will be standing tall as your Prince.

A lengthy amount of time has elapsed since I saw significant success on SCW but I am prepared to step up once more this week to relive that former glory. I have been there before and I won’t hesitate to again. This is precisely the sort of opportunity I have been merely waiting for. It was just around the corner and I was aware of that. Finally, it has arrived.

Aaron perhaps against anybody else, you would truly stand a chance. If that was the case, then you would be living out your dreams all at once but instead, you are faced with a man who will not hesitate to hurt another human being for the sake of it. In addition to that, I just want to be considered the greatest again – this is the opportunity for that and you stand in my way. Therefore, this is where it all goes horribly wrong for you...” Sam’s eyes gleamed a bit dark.

Sam checked to make sure the lights were turned off. After inspecting he saw that they were off and he continued his walk.

“Big Tiger, a man who always has one of the greatest fighting spirits in this business but the spectacular inability to live up to any of his promises. I do see why he's as confident as he is. I understand where he's coming from and no doubt, he is a talented athlete but at the same time, he needs to become aware of his failures. It is, in fact, rare that he does live up to his promises and more often than not, he suffers loss. He'll rarely take those into consideration and he'll just carry on with business as though nothing ever went wrong. In some ways, that is admirable - he won't allow losses to affect him. However, if he opts to never acknowledge them, then he'll just fall into making the same mistakes. Either way, this can't end positively for him.

And as talented as Tiger is, I am far superior. I don't mean that in a particularly arrogant manner but it makes sense. He's fast, he's strong, he's smart. I am all of those things and more and the fact that I have just few losses is all proof of that.

I do know that you're a multi-time champion and it's clear that I have felt what you can do, I've both felt it and seen it in action. Therefore, I'm aware of what you're all about and Tiger, I do appreciate your talents. I know just how strong you are and you're a tough son of a bitch. But when you're faced up against someone like me, then you tend to just crumble and those huge victories will forever elude you - this will merely be one more. I don't want to say that you stand no chance as a prince must always give an opponent credit - that's the smart thing to do. I know that you'll give me a fight and provide me with a real challenge but I am not concerned. I have defeated you before and you did not act as a legitimate threat so I will not pretend that you are this time around.

After all, I see nothing more than failure plaguing your career right now and while you're a smart man, I do not see you as being smart enough to find a way to escape it and battle out of this negativity. So instead, you're going to continue in similar fashion until you're met with pain, suffering and of course, one more loss.

Don't say I didn't warn you. I am giving you a chance, Tiger I'm just hoping that you finally take it. I do believe in you to get even further one day but you have to change your mindset and mentality. Until then, you're destined to fail, I'm afraid.

So Tiger, I hope for you not to become entirely too arrogant heading into this and at least give me some credit. After all, you are smart enough to do so - so perhaps we won't necessarily see any significant weakness from you this week and maybe - just maybe - you won't resort to making those same mistakes again although either way, I will not be surprised. You have the potential, Tiger - it is now the time to use it. I will be expecting your absolute best - just as you should expect that of me. And between us, we can potentially steal the show. I know I'm capable of that but are you? I guess we'll have to decide.” Sam continued.

Sam had made sure next that Fenrir and Helba were asleep. He knew the two canines normally weren’t though; they’d be up patrolling the area to keep everyone safe. Sam peaked in and saw the couple, cuddled up together. Slowly he shut the door.

“Finally Caleb Storm, I don't perceive this to be anything personal but we are both fighting for the same thing, so it's going to turn personal for that particular reason. However, I still wish to give you the utmost respect throughout this match and the build-up that goes with it. After all, I do not have any pre-existing issues with you and in fact, I wish to give you all the credit in the world. To defeat you is a huge deal and therefore, you can no longer be called the underdog. As far as I'm concerned, you've officially earned your position here and it's a huge deal. This has entirely altered the landscape of the entire SCW. Nobody else could have made that much of an impact that quickly as you did, Caleb - so again, I'm impressed.

But while I can stand here and offer you plenty of respect and admiration, I must also look at this realistically. After all, while you have just done something phenomenal, I have been doing that for almost two whole years here in the SCW. Since day one, I have remained in control of my career and more often than not, I've defeated huge names. In fact, there are very few I am yet to defeat here. I have remained on top of any brand I have wrestled on - so to being a man who is not yet a World Champion seems outrages to some degree. Perhaps I am entirely too confident at this point - feeling as though I'm owed more than I am. Maybe it turns out that I am not World Champion material after all - but there is only one way to find out. So when we step into the ring together this week, Caleb, I want to not only face you at your best but I want to prove that this is the correct place for me to be. This is where I should be - it seems right.

So do I feel as though I can defeat you? I'm afraid to say the answer is yes, Caleb. While you deserve all the credit in the world for your performance at the PPV, you are still perhaps not ready for a battle like this. I have defeated far bigger names and remained far more consistent than you. I don't want to detract from what you've done but I have to believe that this should be a match I can overcome. It's nothing new to me, honestly.

I hold nothing against you, much like I'd believe you will not hold anything against me. This is about business and this is about you and I stealing the show! I know we're both capable of it. So Caleb - let's just go out there and steal the show. If ever there was a time for it - then that would be now.” Sam finished.

Sam stopped at a door.

“But men, I’m already a king, I am a king of the Magi-Blood and I’m the king to my wife’s queen. If this prince thing means anything, then let me take another kingdom for us all. Good luck guys and see you out there.” Sam winked.

Sam opened the door and Mel is sitting in bed. She turned to him and smiled.

“Let’s rest shall we?”

Fade to black.
