Title: Man on a mission
Post by: JustinSmith on April 05, 2017, 02:48:27 PM
The day after Blaze of Glory VI, Andrew Garcia wakes up with sharp pains in his chest, and a massive headache.  His husband, Ivan Darrell looks over and sees Andrew in immense pain and knows that Andrew has an appointment with their doctor for that very day for his annual physical.  Andrew and Ivan arrive at the doctor’s office, check in and fill out the proper paperwork, and then wait to be called in.

Nurse-Andrew Garcia?

Andrew gets up, and Ivan follows suit after Andrew waves him on.  They stop at the scale to get Andrew’s weight before they arrive at the examination room and the nurse asks Andrew some questions.

Nurse-What brings you in today, Andrew?

Andrew-Well, as you guys know, I am a professional wrestler for Sin City Wrestling, and last night, I was in a 6 man tag team match with my husband here, Ivan, and we teamed with Dax Beckett, against the team of Mickey Carroll, Xander Bishop and Giani Di Luca.  At the end of the match, Dax turned on Ivan and me, and I was hit with a frog splash, a flying head butt, among other moves as part of the finish of the match, which I took the pin fall loss, with all 4 men on top of me.  This morning, I woke up to intense pain in my ribcage and with a massive headache, as well as ringing in my ears and I had a hard time walking to the bathroom, which ibuprofen did help take the inflammation and took the pain away, but not as much as I would like it to have done.  Ivan and I just wanted to make sure I am not concussed or have any broken ribs or sternum.  Also, this appointment was originally going to be for my annual physical.

As Andrew says this, the nurse is taking notes on the symptoms he has stated, and sees that he was supposed to be there for his physical, as well as the look of disappointment on the faces of both Ivan and Andrew, for having been betrayed by Dax.

Nurse-Ok, let me take your pulse and get your blood pressure real quick.

The nurse then removes the cuff for checking the blood pressure from the hook on the wall, places it on Andrews right arm, and pumps the cuff up, then lets the air come out as she’s checking the pulse and the blood pressure.

Nurse-Your blood pressure is 125 over 70 and your pulse is 85.  Both are good given your line of work.  Doctor Wolf will be in shortly.

Andrew and Ivan sit there as the nurse leaves. While waiting for the doctor, they discuss their loss at Blaze of Glory VI, still with a err of shock in their voice.

Andrew-I am so disappointed that we lost, given how I took a brunt of the punishment and am in so much pain.

Ivan-I am disappointed as well, but more due to the circumstances that we lost.  I want to seek revenge against Dax for what he did to us.

Andrew-I want revenge too, more than you can imagine, but depending on whether I have a concussion or broken ribs will be the deciding factor on whether we actually do anything about it.

A few minutes pass by as they continue talking and then they hear a knock on the door.

Andrew-Enter.

Doctor Wolf-Hey Andrew, how are you feeling?

As soon as Doctor Wolf finishes talking, he checks the head and neck, abdominal area, hair, nails, and limbs, typical of a physical. Afterwards, he listens to the heart and lung before he allows Andrew to speak.

Andrew-I am in a lot of pain right now.  Like I told the nurse, I was hit with a lot of moves last night in my ribs and head area, and this morning I woke up with sharp pains in both areas, and I am just trying to make sure I am not walking around with broken ribs and/or a concussion, as both would sideline me for a very lengthy time from work.

Doctor Wolf-You are right about that, and I am glad that you came to me as soon as you did, and not go straight to the emergency room like most people would.

Andrew-Then again, how many people have the type of job I do that you put your body at risk of injury like we do.

When Andrew says “we do”, his hands are pointing and Ivan and himself.

Doctor Wolf-True, majority of my patients have less hazards in their workplace, but even still, I will set you up with getting a CT scan, MRI and X-Rays for your head and chest to rule out a concussion and broken ribs for the end of the week.  Until we get the results back from the tests, I want you to take it easy, and not to compete.  I will also send a little note to your bosses at Sin City Wrestling to keep you out of action for a few weeks, just as a precaution.  I want to see you in next week, just to follow up with everything.  I also want you to continue taking ibuprofen for the time being until we get to the bottom of the problem.

Andrew-Thanks, Doc.

Andrew shakes Doctor Wolf’s hand, and Ivan follows suit, and then the duo leaves the examination room and head to the front desk to set up the follow up appointment for a week from Friday, and to pay the copay.  Andrew and Ivan talk as they leave the office and head to their car.

Andrew-What do you think we should do in regards to getting back at Dax?

Ivan-There are a lot of things I would like to do to Dax, but how much of it we will be able to get done is yet to be seen, given the status of your ribs and head.

Andrew and Ivan get into their car and drive home as they continue discussing their plans.

Andrew-I know, but still, we should come up with some sort of plan on retaliating on him for turning his back on us, after everything we have done for him.

Ivan-I know, but I don’t want to jump the gun and start planning something, and you have a concussion and not be able to follow through with any plans.  I also have to focus some of my attention towards the Blast From The Past tournament and my tag team partner, the returning Amanda Cortez.

Andrew-That should be an interesting dynamic.

Ivan-I know, a gay man and a lesbian woman teaming up.  We may play for opposite teams, but we need to find a way to get on the same page when we find out who we are facing in the first round of the tournament.

Andrew looks besmirched by the comments by Ivan about him and Amanda as they arrive back at their home and the scene fades to black.

The very next day, Andrew and Ivan head into the hospital to get an MRI, a CT Scan and X rays for Andrew to determine whether he has broken ribs and a concussion, or anything worse.  They walk up to the information desk upon arriving to find out where they need to go.

Receptionist 1:How may I help you?

Andrew:Where is the Medical Imaging located?

Receptionist 1:It is on the 3rd floor around the corner from the elevators right over there.

She points over to the bank of elevators at the far end of the lobby.

Andrew:Thank you.

Andrew and Ivan walk towards the elevator, press the up button, and when then wait for the elevator to arrive.  A minute later, a ding is heard, and the elevator closest to them opens, and they walk in after letting everyone inside the elevator out, and Ivan presses the button next to the number 3, and the door closes behind them.  They ride the elevator up to the third floor and get off and they go around the corner, per the receptionists instructions to Medical Imaging. Andrew approaches this receptionist.

Receptionist 2:How may I help you?

Andrew:My name is Andrew Garcia and I have an 11:30 appointment for a CT Scan, an MRI and an X-Ray.

Receptionist 2:Ok.  Fill out this paperwork and the nurse will call you in in a few minutes.

The receptionist hands Andrew a clipboard with paperwork for him to fill out.  Andrew’s hand starts shaking as he’s trying to fill out the paperwork, so Ivan takes the paperwork and fills it out for Andrew as they talk.

Andrew-I am so scared right now of something being terribly wrong.

Ivan=It’s okay, I will fill the paperwork out for you.  It is totally understandable why you feel the way you feel right now.  I am scared too.

Andrew-Why are you scared? This isn’t you who may be concussed or have broken ribs here.

Ivan-I know, but you are my husband after all, and I do not know what I would do if anything was physically wrong with you, and wouldn’t be able to see you do what you love to do, besides me, of course.

Andrew-Of course you know I love getting inside that ring and performing at my best.  You know that barring a serious injury, I would do anything to make sure I am in that ring, and putting my best foot forward and kicking some ass.

Ivan-I know babe, I know.

As he says that, the nurse calls for Andrew to go to the examination room to start the CT Scan as the scene fades to black.

The following Monday, Andrew and Ivan are back at Doctor Wolf’s office and are already checked in for Andrew’s appointment.  They discuss how they are going to approach whatever news they get.

Andrew-Whatever Doctor Wolf says, I am going to do the best I can to get back into that squared circle and compete by your side.

Ivan-I know, but I don’t want you to make any serious mistakes by rushing back to compete again.

Andrew-I know, and I won’t, but can you blame me for wanting to continue the success we have had working as a cohesive unit.

Ivan-I don’t blame you.

As they talk, the nurse comes out and calls for Andrew.

Nurse-Andrew Garcia?

Andrew gets up, and Ivan follows suit after Andrew waves him on.  They stop at the scale to get Andrew’s weight before they arrive at the examination room and the nurse asks Andrew what the nature of the appointment was.

Nurse-What brings you in today, Andrew?

Andrew-This is a follow up appointment to get the results from my CT Scan, MRI and X Rays that Doctor Wolf scheduled for me last week.  I am still suffering headaches and am in a lot of pain in my ribcage, even with following the doctors advice with the ibuprofen.

Nurse-I see.

The nurse makes notation of Andrew still being in pain, and while looking at the notes, she sees the fact he was there for a follow up appointment.

Nurse-Okay. He will be in shortly.

The nurse leaves the examination room and leaves Andrew and Ivan in the room and they sit in silence while they think of how they may want to proceed if Andrew is going to be out for an extended period of time due to a concussion.  Then they hear a knock on the door.

Andrew-Enter.

Doctor Wolf then enters the examination room, shakes the hands of both Andrew and Ivan, then washes his hands  and then sits down before proceeding to give Andrew the news.

Doctor Wolf-Andrew, I know you must be nervous right now, and I am going to tell you straight up.  You have 3 broken bones and a mild concussion.  I am going to send the results of the CT Scan, MRI and X-Rays to the doctors at SCW to allow them to determine how much longer you should be out after the few weeks I initially told them you should be out, as the ribs will have healed by then, but with the concussion, that is a different story.  I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Both Andrew and Ivan look disappointed with the news Doctor Wolf just gave Andrew.

Andrew-Thank you Doctor Wolf.  I wouldn’t have you as my Primary Care Physician if I didn’t respect and trust your opinion.  Ivan and I are not the types who like to doctor shop.  As good as the doctors in Sin City Wrestling are, I wanted to see you first, knowing how thorough you are, and that you would get to the bottom of the problem.

Doctor Wolf-I appreciate the kind words from you, Andrew.  I urge you to relax and take some time to focus on your recovery, both for your ribs, and for your concussion symptoms. If the concussion symptoms get worse, I want you to let both me and the Sin City Wrestling doctors know.

Andrew-I will definitely do that, Doctor.  Thank you again.

Andrew and Ivan both shake Doctor Wolf’s hands before leaving the doctors office again and leave, and they talk on their way out.

Andrew-Damn it, Ivan.  I was hoping I wasn’t concussed.  The broken ribs, I can deal with, but having the concussion, not so much.

Ivan-I know, but here is a perk of having the broken ribs and concussion.  I am in the Blast From The Past tournament,  so you have some time to relax, and spend time with Casey Williams and his kids, but just be careful.

Andrew-You are absolutely right Ivan.  I am sure Casey would love some company and knowing that he trained us, I am sure he has ways I could still get some sort of workout in, with the injuries and all, and he will be there with me as my spotter and to make sure nothing happens.

Ivan looks at Andrew with a concerned look on his face when he mentioned doing training as they approach their car, enter it and drive off.

Ivan-Didn’t Doctor Wolf just tell you to take it easy for a few weeks?

Andrew-He did, but I am still going to get anxious and gotta work my legs out, do I not?

Ivan-I guess, but before you do any workouts, talk to the doctors at SCW, see what they say before doing anything, please.

Andrew-Fine.  I will call them once we get home, and then call Casey to make plans to crash with him while you are focusing on the tournament.

Ivan-That is all I ask.

They kiss as Ivan looks relieved that Andrew is going to do what he needs to do to take care of himself as they arrive back at their house as the scene fades to black.

Later in the week, Ivan arrives alone in Chicago, Illinois; the host city of Climax Control 175 where his former friend Dax Beckett teams up with Amy Marshall against the team of Joshua Acquin and Kate Steele, in which Dax and Amy advance to the second round.  Ivan drives to the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place where he rented a room for the weekend and gets out of the car and approaches the front desk and checks in.

Receptionist-How may I help you?

Ivan-My name is Ivan Darrell and I have rented a room here online.  Here is the receipt of my online rental and the credit card I used to rent the room.

Ivan hands the receptionist the receipt, which he pulled out from his bag and credit card that he had used to rent the room from his wallet and the receptionist looks up what room he is going to stay in on the computer.  Then she puts the credit card, receipt and the keycard on the desk.

Receptionist-Ok, Mr Darrell, you are staying in room 201 on the second floor right off the elevators here to my right.  Here is your keycard to gain access to the room, as well as to the pool and gym areas of the hotel.  I hope you enjoy your stay with us.

Ivan-Thank you.

Ivan takes his credit card, the receipt and keycard, puts the credit card and keycard into his wallet, and the receipt back into his bag.  He then walks to the elevator, and goes to the second floor, and then walks to his room, takes the keycard out of his wallet and uses it to enter the room.  He starts unpacking, and when he pulls out his iPad, he goes to the Podcast app, and sees that his mentor’s friend DJ David Gallant, has uploaded a new mixtape, called the Beach Party Mixtape.  Ivan plays it, and continues to unpack, and while he unpacks and listens to the new mixtape, he decides to call out the Bad Boys.

Ivan-Bad Boys, I hope you guys are happy.  You guys cost my husband Andrew a minimum of 6 weeks of his career, if not more, because of your recklessness inside that ring at Blaze of Glory VI.  You guys may have gotten the victory because you got that son of a bitch Dax to turn on Andrew and I, making what should have been a 3-on-3 tag match a 4-on-2 handicap match.  If Andrew doesn’t make a full recovery, I will come after each and every one of you and inflict as much pain as humanly possible, and there is nothing you can do to stop me.  I will avenge the injuries to my husband, and make sure each and every one of you suffer immense pain, and thats a promise I will keep.

Ivan takes a deep breath, tries to calm himself down as he’s getting angry and focuses with a fire in his eyes specifically on Dax Beckett, the newest member of Bad Boys, and one of the two members from the team in the Blast From The Past tournament, whom turned on Dying Breed at Blaze of Glory VI, the other man being Xander Bishop.

Ivan-Dax, I know you are competing Sunday, and I am not.  You better hope that we do not get paired up later in the Blast From The Past Tournament, assuming both of our teams advance out of the first round, because if we do, I am unleashing a world of hurt on you like you have NEVER felt before, and that is not a threat, but a FUCKING guarantee.  Honestly, I hope we do get paired up in the next round, because I will make sure you can never wrestle again, causing you to be a flash in the pan, and prove to the world that you are nothing more than a sorry excuse of a wrestler.  There is nothing I would love to do more than end your career due to injury, and people will forget about you, as you never amounted to jack shit in this business.

Ivan then cackles as he finishes unpacking his bag, grabs the ice bucket, and goes to the ice machine and fills the bucket up, and as he returns to his room, he changes into his gym clothes and goes to the hotel gym as the scene fades to black.

The Monday following Climax Control 175, Ivan makes his way from Chicago, Illinois, to Detroit, Michigan; site of Climax Control 176, in which he and Amanda Cortez face off against “Big Tiger” Jeremiah Hardin and Brandie Shotze, who replaced Amy-Jayne for some reason unknown to Ivan.  Ivan goes to The Westin Book Cadillac hotel and checks in and instead of unpacking right away, he decides he’s going to go sightseeing in Detroit for a little bit.  He goes to Comerica Park to see if the Tigers are playing at home for Opening Day, and sees they are not.  Ivan then gets a call from his husband, Andrew.

Andrew-Hey Ivan, how are you?

Ivan-Worried about you and how your doing, but other than that, I am doing alright.

Andrew-Don’t worry about me, Casey is keeping a good eye on me, mostly by having the kids follow me around everywhere I go, outside of using the bathroom that is, for obvious reasons.

Ivan-Yeah, you don’t need to traumatize them.  I am sure you saw that Dax’s team advanced in the Blast From The Past tournament last night.  I will make sure that Amanda and I advance, and get some sort of retribution for what he and the rest of the Bad Boys did to you by eliminating him from this tournament.

Andrew looks worried for his husband when he talks about hurting Dax.

Andrew-Yeah, I did see them win, but I don’t want you to do anything that could get you fired or anything.  Just be careful.

Ivan-I will, and you take it easy, and I can’t wait to get back home and see you again.

Andrew-I can’t wait for you to get home either, I will have a few surprises for you when you come back.

Ivan smiles and blushes when Andrew says that.

Ivan-I am sure you will.  Look, I will call you later tonight babe, I am about to go get some lunch and do some sightseeing of Detroit. I love you.

Andrew-Okay.  I love you too.  Talk to you later.

Ivan hangs up the phone and leaves Comerica Park and heads to Roast inside The Westin Book Cadillac hotel to get lunch.  After lunch, Ivan heads back to his hotel room for a while and decides to focus some time on his opponents, first with “Big Tiger” Jeremiah Hardin.

Ivan-Jeremiah, our careers have been somewhat similar.  I mean, we started around the same time, both have held the tag team titles, and we have worked together more times than I care to remember.  This is the first time that we have had partners other than the ones we are used to working with.  In all honestly, we all know that you have held more gold than I have, and for a longer period, but nonetheless, I have proven time and again that I am a fighter.  Not only that, we both took time away from Sin City Wrestling, around the same time, and are now back with the company, still trying to relive our former glory.  Only one of us will advance, and it won’t be you, I will make sure of it.

Ivan smiles, and then turns his focus to Brandi Shotze, a former winner of the Blast From The Past tournament.

Ivan-Brandi, I know you replaced Amy-Jayne, for reasons I do not care about, nor should I care about. I know you and Simon Jones won this tournament back in 2014, but know that this year, and Simon carried you to that tournament win.  If I were you, I wouldn’t trust your partner, Jeremiah, as far as you could throw him as he lacks commitment. He has such potential, seeing he’s a former Roulette and Tag Team Champion but it seems like he can never make it to the finish line. He's a letdown and a disappointment as i see it. He has not had a memorable return, whereas Andrew Garcia and I have.  I mean, look at what happened to us at Blaze of Glory VI.  Yeah we lost, but the fact that Dax turned on us put our match on the map, despite it not being a title match.   I also have had a tag title shot since coming back with my husband Andrew Garcia, granted we lost the match, but we are more focused on making a name for ourselves than winning titles, but this is my time to shine without his help, and prove that I can win with anyone as a partner, even someone as talented as Amanda Cortez, despite our personal differences.  Just remember the names of Amanda Cortez and Ivan Darrell when we win the Blast From The Past tournament for 2017.

Ivan cackles then leaves the hotel and goes to the Dossin Great Lakes Museum in Belle Isle Park as the scene fades to black.
